Yep looks like it fixed those lockups I have been having.

Thank you

He sent several patches, and I tried to make work the last one, but
they are work in progress and they don't work (TM), don't work as in
the film "They are unable to boot a machine that only has IDE",
i.e. my normal test machine.

Later, Juan.

there was a still new version of devfs a WIP patch that I tried to get
working, but that thing don't work at all :( then I decided to go
back to v196 :(

Perhaps there have been several changes in the kernel in the medium
time? :p

Later, Juan.

As I have read in LKML, after the latest 'release' of devfs, it was still
broken. So the mantainer (see the state of the beast...) finally decided
to drop the current implementation and start feeding Linus-Alan a new
fully reworked devfs (that is supposed to have not locking-race problems).
But the problem is that the patches are leakin' in pieces to the list,
I have not seen a full patch...so wait until it is complete. I'm
sure Juan is tracking the list.

Still, doesn't it look to you like cooker in general might be stagnating
a little? Surprising from a distro with such strong commercial backing.

Kernel was updated three days ago. Devfs version in question was
released more than a week ago. And I have been reporting lockups in
devfs for more than a month at least.

when after a week or two you notice your mbox isn't full of [CHRPM]s,
ever get the feeling something is up? Other than "vacations"?
Regardless, a lot of things _do_ need to be updated. Seems cooker has
decided instead of being a devel trunk, to let debian-stable (potato)
catch up :).
