Haven't tried the USB stuff under Linux, do have a USB scanner now so I
suppose I can.

I'll let you know how I get on.

have a go myself; although I tried the "linuxfet" driver that came with
the Apogee motherboard, and it did not work either, could be just a

Seems to me that it actually recognized as Via Rhine II (in both LSPCI...)
(didn't see it in the KT333 chipset ducumentation, but ...)

So questions that appear:

Is the Onboard NIC Enabled in BIOS?
(probably since it turns up in LSPCI, but...)
(I have a via-rhine nic in one server that I disabled in BIOS,
but Linux still found it and activated it, so ...)

Have you tried to: 'modprobe via-rhine'?

thats my
VIA Technologies|VT6102 [Rhine II 10/100]
[NETWORK_ETHERNET] (vendor:1106 device:3065 subv:1695 subd:3005)
are subv & subd important ?

via-rhine : VIA Technologies|VT6102 [Rhine II 10/100] [NETWORK_ETHERNET]

Thats what I have on the Apogee board, and it does not work, even more weird
is that it does not work even with the "linuxfet" driver included on the
Apogee CD.

It would be great is somebody fixed this at some point, as I'd really like to
use the integrated LAN controller.

I am going to try a kernel modules rebuild using the I/O mechanism rather than
the memory mechanism which is the default for the via-rhine. The via-rhine.c
does note that most boards only work with the I/O mechanism.

just at it handles the AC97 sound and softmodem...

I have been running full cooker on this system since pre 8.2 so at a
point in time I was running the equivalent of 9.0 RC3 and at no time has
the controller failed to perform.

I have been using the the same controller on a SOYO Dragon+ for nearly a
