Possible but I think it's unlikely. The HotSync protocol really ought to be the same no matter what manufacturer you are using. Most of the differences in the OS are just changes in front end interface and support for different hardware. In the case of the Clie it's the wheel and the memory sticks that is different from most other Palm hardware... That said however it is possible that everyone didn't agree on a USB standard and that Handspring just did their own thing. The module that supports the USB sync is called the visor module... -- Ben Reser <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://ben.reser.org Never take no as an answer from someone who isn't authorized to say yes.

I also have a brand new CLIE SJ20 (BW basic one) and USB sync worked fine on b4 and RC2. Had some small issue today after an update with cooker but works fine now. regards Bernard Alastair Scott wrote: > On Tue, 2002-09-17 at 14:10, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > > >>My experience with 9b4 (haven't tried since then) is that my USB >>Visor "just works" out of the box, where in 8.2 I had to do the magic >>dance Alistair referred to. > > > Mine is a brand new Clie (T675), and my previous one (T425) had similar > problems. I didn't do anything special at all! I plugged in my Visor's USB cradle, selected configuration->gnome->peripherals->pilot link from the Mandrake menu, and followed the directions. I sync with Evolution daily. (Until 9.0, I had to use the serial cradle to sync). The only hitch is that the Pilot-Sync applet hasn't been ported to Gnome2, so I have to run gpilotd manually. My problem is the /dev/usb/tty/0 and /dev/usb/tty/1 only exist if i am trying to do a hot sync but NO Nero Nada data is transfered and if you hit the hotsync button on the KPalm program it tells you to "push the hotsync button" (which already was pushed) (this is with an 8.2? system) A current Mandrake How-to would help -- ars Cognita Richard Tango-Lowy - President [EMAIL PROTECTED] 603 424-0713 signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

That said, 9.0 is the only Linux distribution I've ever come across which is even _near_ to cracking this problem out of the box ...
