Re: [Cooker] RPM Segfaulting
I had the same dilemma for a week; The voodoo that worked for me was to use my old rpm3 to --rebuilddb, which seemed to give me partial abilities to install packages. I then manually installed all of the rpm* menu-* db3-* locales-* and grpm/urpmi packages from the very latest (yesterday) cooker using "rpm2cpio|cpio -id" eventually gave me a successful run of using RPM4 for a --rebuilddb. -- Gary Lawrence Murphy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: office voice/fax: 01 519 4222723 T(C)Inc Business Innovations through Open Source http://www.teledyn.com KernelWiki Community Linux Docs: http://kernelbook.sourceforge.net/wiki

If this rpm thing gets any more complicated Bill Gates is going to want to adopt it. :) -jm On Saturday 21 July 2001 02:35 pm, you wrote: > dam's wrote: > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Joe Menola) writes: > >>What is the very latest? > > > > rpm-4.0.3-0.16mdk.i586.rpm > > Sometimes also the rpm database will become corrupted and rpm > --rebuilddb won't be able to fix it. But if you can find the package that is causing the problem (for example, a package that can't be rpm -e'd), sometimes you are able to download an older version, rpm -ivh --force that one, rpm -e that one, and then rpm -e the bad package. RE: [Cooker] RPM segfaulting
Upgrade locale. I notice that if your locale are old the rpm will segfault on you. If your rpm is not working because it's crashing you can copy /usr/share/locale from other system and rpm should stop crashing.
