No, I don't want to do a Search on them,
I want to know where the Link to Download
the Drivers is.

an USB microphone ? WTH do you want to use an USB microphone ? where
is the inetrest ? a normal jack microphone connect to a normal sound
card is not enough ?

This is a somewhat high end mic if you are interested you can find the
   specs and describes at
   http://www.computeraudio.telex.com/products/h531.html

It is seen and configured as a USB sound card.
Because USB service is started and the driver modes loaded early
in the boot process, prior to the emu for SBLive, once boot is
completed all audio output is directed to the Telex mic rather than
the SBLive resulting in no sound from the speakers.
I can 'remove' the mic and sound then works properly.

Has this situation been encountered before and is there a
workaround (other than the 1 I used)?

As your mic will not be used under linux keep it remove and buy a
cheaper safest normal mic.

Why should my mic not be used in Linux?
It is proerly recooged and configed.
If I am giong to use or test voive recog software, ala ViaVoice, I do
not wish to do so with some crappy desktop mic.

Or else do you know which module is loaded ? If the module is called
funky you can add this to /etc/modules.conf :
pre-install emu10k1 rmmod funky

just before alias sound-slot-0 emu10k1.
I hope it will works.

The module is alias sound-slot-1 audio and your suggestion did work.
   Thanks.

I run several systems with differing hw.
Anytime any of the hw either does not work or work properly, and If, I
have seen no reports of the same or similar nature I am going to report
such. My primary reason is not to have soneone give me a solution,
although that is welcome, but it Is to increase the knowledge base.

the most important is : do they say it's supported ? if not, so you no
longer have to search for one, if yes try to see if the lmodule is in
your kernel ( modproble -l | grep moduleilookfor ) or try to find the
homepage of the drivers project.

There is no need to download a driver, it is already there.

If the mic is properly recognized the driver mod will be loaded during
boot.

Check your /etc/modules.conf
The mic will be: alias sound-slot-1 audio

The problem that I encountered is that it was being set up as a soundcard
and was taking presidence over emu10k1
This was corrected by adding the line: pre-install emu10k1 rmmod audio
prior to the normal emu10k1 listing.

Frankly at this time I am using nothing with linux that requires a mic
so I ended up just removing it.
I never tested to see if if actually worked, but all indications, driver mod
being loaded and a full payne and listing in all mixers, indicate that
it would work.

If one uses a USB speaker there IS no soundcard in the PC...
One of my customers still has a soundblaster live, uses the Harmon
Kardon digital speakers but the soundcard is only used by the
microphone, kind of a waste so a USB mic may be useful...

USB mics are also used by webcams (Philip's ToUCams for example).
I don't see why I should buy an extra microphone and attach it to
my soundcard if there's already one connected and ready to use?

Rainer
