Re: [Cooker] segmentation fault

2002-02-25 Thread Robin Pollard

Mike,

I got the same 'mem missing' segfault installing on Athlon 900, 512Mb
RAM. The problem in my case appears the be that I was using software
RAID for / and /usr. I reinstalled only RAIDing /home and it went
fine (after failing 3 times in about the same place before).

Any use to you ?

Cheers,
Robin

 Hi

on the new beta 3 trying to install I get a segmentation fault
 message,
 error 13,
and then it says memory seems to be missing as the installation
 crashes

This is on a p 200mmx intel box with 128 meg of ram

Anyone know what it means or how to fix it?

I was doing a text expert install and it did this right at the
 point
where it was looking for packages to install. it had just asked
 if I had
the second cd and I had answered yes then it said it was looking
 for
packages to install, a few seconds later
I got the message and it terminated the install.

Check your bios and see if any of the OS/2 memory hole options have gotten
turned on. (OS/2 had some weird thing about wanting a hole in memory between
15M and 16M. I have no idea why.) That will cause all sorts of harm. (Not
certain why it is even in any bioses nowadays...)
