Are you experienced with video out on iBook?

  a bit.

  short answer:
  it doesn't work
  long answer:
it depends a bit on exactly what you want to achieve.
  -tv-out is not working afaik
  - i got dual head mode working, but the lcd cd will have the stripes
again(the fbdev layer cannot use 2 heads, so you need to do
without).-close mode should be working just as good as dual-head,
  but didn't succeed yet

what settings do you use for dual head?
did you set some stuff in open firmware?

virtual pc in mol

2003-06-16 Thread Alexander Klosch
hi,

did anyone try to run VirtualPC in mol (0.9.68) successfully? i always get following
error:
Unhandled PowerPC exception: 0x300 Data Access Failed.
Running VirtualCPC in native MacOS X is no problem.
How to solve this problem?
Or is there any way to get win2000 software running on ppc linux?
bochs seems not to support win2000, did anyone try anyway?

urpmi problem

2003-03-27 Thread A. Klosch
hi,

I answered stew 3 hours ago about the XFree86 Problem, and the mail is listed in the
archiv, but i didn't get it. something wrong with the mailinglist maybe??
I figured out, that X is running perfectly when I remove DRI from the XF86Config. But
this means no acceleration.. Anyone an ideo how to get X runnin w/ DRI?
another problem I got stuck on: rpmdrake failed downloading an rpm, asked if it should
keep the aleady downloaded files, I answered yes. next try using rpmdrake or urpmi
from commandline I get following error:

perl: rpmio_internal.h:447: cf2: Assertion `fd  fd-magic == 0x04463138' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)

this disables me from using the nice mdk rpm management. anyone an idea how to fix it?

alex

ibook2 XFree

2003-03-12 Thread Alexander Klosch
Hi,

so, after all i got a good price for an ibook (ibook2 mid 2002, 600mhz, ati radeon
mobility M6 LY), and fist thing i do is installing mandrake 9.1 ppc on it. after some
troubles with yaboot, urpmi which i googled out i still have problems getting XFree
running.
only way to boot into linux is by setting
video=ofonly
neither radeonfb nor atyfb work, all i get is blurry screen, which seems not healthy
..
with video=ofonly boot is fine.
starting XFdrake it detects ATI radeon, ibook2 display with 1024x768 24bpp. during
installation routine I have seen the test screen, after first reboot, i had to change
to ofonly. and trying test option in XFdrake now hangs the system. nothing to see, no
way back to the console.
so, which framebuffer is suggested for the ati radeon mobility M6 LY? some special
configs in XFree i should know?

thankx.
alex

ps. keep up the great work. thanks for ppc-mdk!
