[Fwd: update problems...still]

2002-12-09 Thread Ian Davidson
Update:
running urpmi manually it appears that the 4x source directories I'm
pointing to don't have the relevant .ppc.rpm files in them
What's a reliable on to use? I've seen a few suggestions posted already
(which I'm using)...but obviously they are behind the times?

I'm having problems using the Software Control centre to update my
8.2release. Every single rpm file it tries to install comes up with an
error...
I've managed to add an additional source to the CC, using the
urpmi.addmedia command but can't go any further with updates.

There must be an easy way to do this; RedHat's update service is far
much easier to get working reliably...

Also, on my iBook, on boot-up I'm seeing a message saying,
'The following network card has been removed from your system:
Apple Computer Inc.|GMAC Ethernet Controller'

I've decided to 'Keep Configuration' as the network still works fine.
I've only started seeing this on the last 2-3 rebootsany ideas what
is causing this?

Cheers,

Ian

1st off, did the list change? I seem to have to jump through hoops now to
reply to anything and get it to go to the list.

Don't know this one offhand, and I'm sure it changes daily.

If you didn't update grpmi, then rpmdrake won't work in 8.2. It's listed
in the errata somewhere.

Your reply was fine. Most of the others I've been responding to have some
other Reply To: set.

The list works like so:
No reply-to header in the message the reply-to is set to the list.
If there is a reply-to in the header the reply-to is not changed.

I don't know about pine (I seem to recall that's what you use), but in
mutt there is a reply to list option that lets me ignore the reply-to
header and always reply to the list. Alternatively, you should be able
to use the reply to all option of your MUA and get both the list and the
person who sent it if they set the reply-to...
