Re: [CnD] Question: Bacon in the oven

2015-09-15 Thread Gary Patterson via Cookinginthedark
I haven't cooked bacon with the convection feature. However, I have cooked the
bacon on top of a tray with a rack in both the oven and toaster oven. If I were
you, I would try in the range oven using 400DG for 15 to 17 minutes. In the
toaster oven, I would again use the pan with the rack to let the fat drain. I
tried 15 minutes on 400
DG.

Some time I will try cooking the bacon with the convection feature. One feature
of my range is setting the oven at whatever temperature you desire. Pressing a
spot, the range calculates what temperature and time to use with the convection
feature. My range will even store 6 recipes for cooking in the oven. I can't
stop bragging about this range and making the range completely accessible.

Just curious, what kind of a convection oven do you have? Thanks. Happy cooking.

Subject: [CnD] Question: Bacon in the oven

I know there was a bit of discussion about this, and somehow I must have missed
it. Could somebody give specific advice on how to accomplish crispy bacon, in
other words well done, in the oven?

1. Have you used a special style of pan to help keep the grease/fat away from
the bacon?

2. Cook at what temperature and for about how long?

3. Would you recommend any modifications for using a convection oven?

[CnD] great idea from YouTube

1. Heat your George Formann grill to high.

2. Wrap a hot-dog in a strip of bacon.

3. Grill for 4 minutes.

4. Put the result into a hot-dog bun and tuck a slice of cheese between the
bacon and the bun on both sides.

5. Microwave until the cheese melts and the bun is nice and warm.

6. After it has cooled enough, munch!
