[CnD] Dish
I'm cooking shrimp and broccoli in the oven in butter. I cooked the noodles, and what I'm wondering, can I make this in to a cold pasta shrimp dish? What can I add to it for a cold dish? This is jmy first time I'm cooking shrimp. I took the tails off. It is frozen shrimp. I basted the pan with butter for the shrimp and vegetables. It is roasting or baking in the oven. I'll add this to the noodles. Gary, The book written by Anna Dresner and available from National Braille Press is an excellent resource for beginners and then, later on, for IOS addicts as well! I recommend it highly! You can always add good old onion, green or yellow, whatever you like. For a cold dish you could slice up some cukes and add spices if you like them. That would be good with rotini pasta or farfalle (bowties) and I'd probably use black olives, sliced, some diced bell pepper, and some mushrooms (either button or baby portabella) marinated in Italian dressing. You could also mix in some cubed cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss cheese with this too for a cold salad. -Original Message- From: Becky McCullough via Cookinginthedark [mailto:cookinginthedark@acbradio.org] Sent: Tuesday, April 05, 2016 7:11 AM To: cookinginthedark@acbradio.org Cc: Becky McCullough Subject: [CnD] Dish I'm cooking shrimp and broccoli in the oven in butter. [CnD] Beef Pot Pie with biscuits
Beef Pot Pie 1/2 cup flour 1/4 cup instant non-fat dry milk powder 1 teaspoon dry mustard 1 cup water 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1 10-1/2 ounce can beef broth, undiluted 1 cup chopped onion 1 pound ultra-lean ground beef 1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon pepper 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme 1 16-ounce package frozen green peas, potatoes & carrots, thawed 1 4.5 ounce can refrigerated buttermilk biscuits Combine the flour, milk powder and mustard in a bowl; stir well. Gradually add water, Worcestershire sauce and beef broth; blend well. Set aside. Cook the onion and beef in a large saucepan coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat until browned, stirring to crumble; drain after it's cooked, then return the beef to the pan. Add the parsley, garlic powder, pepper, thyme, peas and mushrooms. Stir well, then add the broth mixture. Cook over medium heat for 15 minutes until thickened. Stir constantly to mix up any browned bits on the bottom. Spoon the mixture into a 13" x 9" casserole dish coated with cooking spray. Carefully split the biscuits in half horizontally, and place over the beef mixture. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes, or until biscuits are lightly browned.
