Subject: [CnD] Pouring batter

Hello,
As most of you know, I'm fairly inexperienced in the kitchen, so I'm still
trying basic stuff out.
I tried making a simple box yellow cake mix and I followed the directions of
mixing exxs, oil and water with the cake mix. I was pretty happy when I
thought I did OK with the electric mixer. Then I tried pouring it into the
cake pan, and I thought I did well. I tried using a spoon to scoop it out. I
also tried having the bowl in the center of the pan and did it all in the sink.
Of course, I didn't use my fingers but thought it had all gotten into the pan.
I put the pan in the oven, and when it was time to wash the bowl, I found there
was still some batter left. It was too late. What are some good techniques to
pour a bowl of cake batter into a 9 by 13 cake pan?
What am I doing wrong?

Hi again,
One more thing that I would say about this cake is that it would almost remind
me of one of those mug cakes because it is so moist and yummy. Thanks for all
your help and if I ever find it somewhere I will definitely post it on all
lists that I’m on.

I did the same thing and I could not find it. I have many Duncan Hines recipes
and I don't have that one. I'd sure like to have it.

I went to Duncan Hines's site and looked around. Didn't find any thing close,
but will keep looking.

Hi everyone,
I am looking for a special recipe. Back in the seventies, on the box of a
Duncan Hines yellow cake mix, was a recipe for a cake that the box said was
like eating pudding in a bowl. I actually made this cake, and it was wonderful.
It was very moist and pudding like, so that you had to eat it out of a dessert
dish. Does anybody know what I am talking about? I would love to have the
recipe to make it again if anyone has it.
Thanks for your help.

It might be in the cookbook, "The Best Recipes from the Backs of Boxes,
Bottles, Cans, and Jars" which tends to have a lot of this stuff. Mama
Peach, who has a recipe mailing list, has converted recipes from this
particular book, so if someone could ask her about this that might provide
some information.

It’s probably not on Duncan Hines anymore.
