Re: [CnD] Slicing fresh baked bread?

I think that price is higher now. I have one of those knives if anybody wants
it. As a left-handed person I was not able to figure out how to use it. I tried
cutting a roast with it and that is all the use it has had. It sits on my
counter top with the other knives in butcher blocks that I do use. If anybody
wants it for the price of shipping and boxing, it is yours. I did not keep the
original box it came in. I suspect the price would be about $20 because the
block is heavy for its size. That would pay for the shipping and my trip to the
post office, UPS, or Federal Express.

Blind Mice
Had a knife that you can adjust the distance between the serrated blade and a
straight edge. Turning the dial to the width you want. The width adjust
determines the thickness being cut.

The knife comes in a small wooden square block. A two-tine-fork blade stores in
the wooden block. The serrated knife cuts into the item being cut. The kjnife
costs around $11.

The same tip applies to sighted people too. Use a serrated knife, preferably a
long knife.

I am totally blind, and I bought a slicing guide that looks for all the world
like a rib cage. It is open on top, and the loaf of bread sits in the slicer.
Then it's best to use a serrated knife to slice the bread, guided by the ribs.
Of course the heel is best eaten warm, with lots of butter on it! Oh, well; but
that has nothing to do with slicing.

I use a bread knife, which is one with teeth instead a smooth edge. And I
bought a slicing guide at a department store a good while back that makes it
easy to get even slices. It's a box like thing with no top and only one end,
and there are evenly spaced grooves on two of the sides to act as guides. It
was well worth having when I could see, even more so now.
