[courier-users] zdkimfilter 0.3

2010-04-28 Thread Alessandro Vesely
I've extended the spf_whitelist option so as to accept
john@example.com in case example.com publishes a discard ADSP
policy and the signature has been broken by the whitelisted sender.
I've also removed the x- from x-dkim-adsp, in
Authentication-Results lines, and slightly modified adsp log lines.

 I'm working on the script.

You mean you read recipients from ctlfile lines starting with r?

How are you going to handle an abusive message for multiple
recipients, only one of which is abuse or postmaster? Courier
already has a whitelisted/not-whitelisted mechanism, but it only works
for whitelistable filters...

I wouldn't better count on that. I can see some statistics but we're
already getting mail to domain@abuse.net sometimes.

[courier-users] courier/mysql setup

2010-04-28 Thread Tim Dunphy
I am having some difficulty getting courier to authenticate with a
MySQL database.

[r...@cloud1:/etc/init.d ] #:telnet cloud1 143
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to cloud1.newdom.com.
Escape character is '^]'.
* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 UIDPLUS CHILDREN NAMESPACE
THREAD=ORDEREDSUBJECT THREAD=REFERENCES SORT QUOTA IDLE ACL
ACL2=UNION] Courier-IMAP ready. Copyright 1998-2008 Double Precision,
Inc. See COPYING for distribution information.
a1 LOGIN bluethundr secretPass
* BYE Temporary problem, please try again later
Connection closed by foreign host.

This is what happens in my logs when I try this:

Apr 26 18:51:16 cloud1 imapd: Connection, ip=[127.0.0.1]
Apr 26 18:51:23 cloud1 imapd: authdaemon: s_connect() failed: No such
file or directory
Apr 26 18:51:23 cloud1 imapd: LOGIN FAILED, user=bluethundr, ip=[127.0.0.1]
Apr 26 18:51:23 cloud1 imapd: authentication error: No such file or directory

So I have some questions about how courier communicates with MySQL:

1 - MySQL appears to be listening on port 3306, which sounds correct
if I recall correctly. Does courier have any sort of setting for the
port on which to attempt connection.

2 - Does courier have an advanced login debugging? It should. This
might help by providing information regarding the connection attempts
with user, password, etc.

Thank you

It looks like the problem is that you don't have the authdaemon service
running. authdaemon establishes the connections to mysql and does the
lookups and stuff when a request is made. Without that daemon running,
the authentication library fails to connect to it and so authentication
fails.

Unlike Courier::Filter, courier-pythonfilter is threaded and has a

Re: [courier-users] courier/mysql setup

2010-04-28 Thread Jeff Jansen
Tim Dunphy bluethu...@gmail.com wrote on 2010-Apr-29:
Apr 26 18:51:23 cloud1 imapd: authdaemon: s_connect() failed: No such
 file or directory

Dear Tim,

As Sam and others have mentioned, this error means that authdaemon isn't
working. Authdaemon uses a socket for communication with other programs. Given
your configuration, it's probably in /var/run/courier/authdaemon/. That
socket doesn't exist (that's the error message), so imap can't talk to
authdaemon on a non-existent socket. :-)

Since your 'ps' shows a very old version of authdaemon running, you probably
need to get a new version of authdaemon running, one that matches your running
version of courier-imap.

1 - MySQL appears to be listening on port 3306, which sounds correct
if I recall correctly. Does courier have any sort of setting for the
port on which to attempt connection.

Your MySQL is most likely fine. Authdaemon is the problem.

2 - Does courier have an advanced login debugging? It should. This
might help by providing information regarding the connection attempts
 with user, password, etc.

Unfortunately, in your case, there's nothing to log because nothing is
happening. Imap can't connect to the authdaemon socket and talk to it. So
imap logs that fact - there's not much else it can log.

Where did you get courier-imap and authdaemon? If you compiled them yourself,
go back and get the latest versions of BOTH authdaemon and courier-imap and
compile them again. If you got them from a repository, I would remove them and
make sure you don't have any older copies running around. Then reinstall and
make sure you get a fairly recent version. (You probably don't want to run this
from a Redhat 9 repository.) ;-)

HTH

Jeff Jansen
