Re: [Coworking] Gaggle Office is now open!

2012-03-08 Thread Kyo Satani
Hi, Valeria

Why don't you have Jelly again and again.
I opened PAX Coworking 20 months ago, and at first we had
no members. I held the first Jelly and continue having Jellies
once or twice a month and tell people the goodness of Jelly and coworking.
We had 52 Jellies so far and now we have one of the best coworking
community in
Tokyo and have more than 20 members.

Good luck!

[Coworking] Coworking Financial Performance

2012-03-08 Thread Mark in Iowa City
Greetings everyone.
We are getting close to opening a coworking facility using some public
funds in Iowa City, IA and the city council is asking for financial
data on similar spaces. Would anyone be able to share with me the
quick and dirty numbers of your space over the past few years? all I
would need is:
square footage, # of coworkers, annual net income / expenses.

We know these coworking is not about making money for the space, but
need to show it should be close to cashflowing with limited ongoing
investment.

Any help appreciated,

[Coworking] How do you get news coverage for Opening?

2012-03-08 Thread CAJ
Hi Everyone,

Okay, we are opening the doors April 2 and having our Grand Opening
April 13, (Friday). We will begin with a ribbon cutting with the
Chamber of Commerce. This a very new concept in my area and I have
spent the last year and half researching coworking and the last 6
months educating people about coworking. I was fortunate enough to
have 5000sq ft of warehouse space and the (personal) backing to
convert into a coworking space. Yes, Alex I have the space before the
members, which isn't the worse senario, but does have draw backs. I was
really lucky to marry a man who believed in my dream of opening a
coworking space and owned the building and is now leasing to me. I
have the landlord in my pocket...lol! I have 6 really great members
to begin with...

My question (details please) is how do I get the local news media to
cover a coworking story/opening? What is the "hook" to get them
interested? Also, city officals?

I am in the county outside of St. Louis, Missouri, at this time
construction is not yet completed but will be finished by April 1st.

Any ideas will be appreicated...

I really like the term free radicals that the Grind in NYC coined. So
cool. A bit too radical. But still awesome.
