[Coworking] Fun Fridays at Berkeley Coworking
For any coworking junkies who will be in the San Francisco Bay Area this Friday, we're kicking off our first of (hopefully) many Fun Fridays at Berkeley Coworking. This week, it's PIZZA + BEER + MOVIE night starting at 9:00PM. If the weather's nice, we'll be playing the movie outdoors. Please sign up and put your pizza topping and movie suggestions into the comments section of the Upcoming event page, preferably by Wednesday evening. Fun Friday @ Berkeley Coworking http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/678353/ I've capped the signup list at 40 people due primarily to the size of our space. There's pleanty of parking in the evenings, and we're only 4 blocks from the Ashby BART station. We're looking forward to seeing you there! [Coworking] Re: Colors?
I have a Pantone book, Color: Messages Meanings that I use to demonstrate some simple color theory concepts to clients: http://www.pantone.com/pages/products/product.aspx?pid=549ca=8 It's not very deep, but it's well it's pretty. You may find it useful. Plus, I have taken the book to Home Depot and have had them color match some of the swatches right out of the book. Oh, and I'm a fan of Citizen Space's wall color as well. [Coworking] Re: Space available at Berkeley Coworking
Chris M, I know you asked Chris A. about the pricing and spaces, but I think he's still playing catch-up after some travel and a conference presentation. So, allow me to answer on behalf of our space. We got Berkeley Coworking started about 2 months ago and are still trying to get the word out to the local community about what we have to offer. We have about 1100 square feet, half of which is common area for meetings and drop-in guests. The rest is desk space for anchor tenants. We offer desk space, electricity, and WiFi free to drop-in guests any time one or more anchor tenants are in the house. We're close to UC Berkeley, and the downtown, so if you're in the area and need to get some stuff done, come on by! You can check on our open/ closed status on out website before you walk/ride/bart/drive on over. We're currently looking to fill three anchor seats here at Berkeley Coworking. For $400 per month + a $300 one-time infrastructure fee, you will get your own desk, keys for 24X7 access, and priority scheduling for the conference area downstairs. Right now the 5 existing anchor tenants come have various software development testing backgrounds, but we're open to most disciplines. Our only caveat right now is that we encourage limited phone use inside the space to keep the background noise to a minimum. [Coworking] Re: Open / Closed Status for your space
David, Thank you. Awesome comments and observations! And yes, I recognize my tendencies to try technical solutions for what may be social concerns... it's what I do. Yes, attracting drop-ins is one of our answers for how to build community AND how to recruit potential anchors. Which one is more important depends on who you talk to. For me it's the community. Trying to build a community is one of the main reasons I joined in. Fiscally speaking, I'm a minority stakeholder in Berkeley Coworking. I'm not on the hook for our PL at this time. If you were to ask one of the people who are, I suspect they might lean towards filling the seats. As I'm still fairly new to this newsgroup, I didn't want lead off with a how to create community question, I thought I'd try for something specific, hence the narrowly scoped open / closed thread. I agree that drop-ins leads to a larger discussion about community and revenue, but I honestly don't know how to scope it. Thank you for your feedback!
