Re: [CREATE] open colour wave ridden or not?
On my part, I'm plugging away on making a palette that physically works and is interoperable with the ranges of a number of different ink manufacturers (which is what I've been working on for some time now). I've had some interest from COLOURlovers (http://www.colourlovers.com/), which may eventually result in some support from their community. It would be nice to roll over to a more informative, less discussion based page for the opencolour.org URL. If there isn't any objection, I can put that on my to-do list, alongside the palette development (ETA on the palette is April, I hope). -- ginger coons adaptstudio.ca 647.865.7757 (Toronto) 514.213.1318 (Montreal) On Mon, Dec 28, 2009 at 3:50 PM, Jon Phillips j...@rejon.org wrote: What's the latest on open colour? http://www.boingboing.net/2009/12/13/open-colour-standard.html It got a huge boost in traffic, but all directed to a blank wiki page. Jon Phillips a écrit : What's the latest on open colour? http://www.boingboing.net/2009/12/13/open-colour-standard.html Hi, Until someone points me to the exact source that supports such a statement in the link above: Pantone distributes both the inks and books of color swatches I trust Pantone doesn’t distribute nor does it produce any ink. Please refer to the following sites for more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantone http://www.pantone.com/pages/pantone/pantone.aspx?pg=19295ca=10 Lots of people get mixed up with such assertions and I am not sure this helps the debate go further. Even worse I think: some people who might be interested into the discussion might just pull out because such false statement creates unnecessary confusion and noise. Pantone is not an ink manufacturer. Louis It got a huge boost in traffic, but all directed to a blank wiki page. Interesting. The question I have is if our efforts are important and should be continued, and we should increase amount of energy put into open colour (and yes, we should keep brit spelling...love it!) Among the topics we want to discuss is an open colour standard, in which the vendor is definitely interested. I think I already mentioned that the vendor will attend LGM in Brussels and intends to discuss the issues with all interested parties. I can (and will) tell you more after the meeting in mid-January. The ink vendor we're cooperating with (and who will make his own new standard freely availbale and distributeable for all FLOSS projects) is willing to print the colour books. They may also be willing to distribute them on a cost-covering basis, i.e. a fee that covers the printing and shipping costs. I'll know more in January. [CREATE] Proprietary software company's attending LGM?
Hi, Over on the opencolour thread, the attendance of proprietary software companies with open source activities was mentioned. I'm curious if anyone knows if there will be more of this than in previous years, and which companies might be along, as I've found such engagements one of the more fascinating aspects of the conference :) Regards, Dave On 30 Dec 2009, 5:00 PM, Christoph Schäfer christoph-schae...@gmx.de wrote: Am Mittwoch, 30.
