It's not perfect, but its better than nothing. At +1, we have EMF < UML
< OCL, and worse OCL depends on XText at +2. We survive, only one OCL
re-contribution in a couple of years.

Graphiti at +2, seems better.

Probably what would be better would be a better way to publicize API
changes that affect downstream builds. Don’t really have an answer
there but it is what causes problems. If APIs are well managed, in
theory, you can build before you’re dependencies do.
I think that it would be reasonable to very strongly recommend that
breaking API appear in an I-build a week before +0 so that nightly
builds should detect problems comfortably before the last minute.

Just a thought,
Doug.

David,

yes, you are right Graphiti is a framework. On the other hand we
have dependencies to GEF and EMF Transactions/Validation with is
at +2.

Graphiti has been on +3 since it joined the release train, so far
it has never been an issue. Or at least these issues did not reach
me.

In case any user of Graphiti struggles with this, this would be a
good time to speak up. I’m open towards changing to an earlier day
in case that is required.

Thanks,

Michael

I believe Graphiti is a "framework", right? To be used by others?
As such +3 does not make much sense. +3 is more for "leaf"
components that no one else depends on. +1 or +2 makes more sense
to me, depending on what you depend on.

As always, feel free to correct any misconceptions I have.

Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Graphiti participating in Oxygen

2016-07-18 Thread Carl Anderson
Michael,

WTP does have a prereq on Graphiti (for our JPA Diagram Editor), and
we are at +2. (And you said that GEF is at +2... they are at +1). It
would be beneficial for WTP if Graphiti were to move up to +2 (at least).
Are there any plans for Graphiti to leave the "incubation" state for
Oxygen?

FWIW,

[cross-project-issues-dev] New to Neon.1? Please "announce" and be sure Release Record is accurate.

2016-07-18 Thread David M Williams
I am not sure we have been very explicit about it so I will be now.

For anyone that is joining the Neon train in the update release of Neon.1
please announce here on this list and be sure your release record is "up
to date" to reflect the September date.

I think in some cases, people may have long ago said they would be skip
Neon and be in Neon.1, but a new announcement here would be appreciated
... just as a reminder and for easier "book keeping".

And, don't forget, if new to Neon.1 you should be in "checkpoint" build,
(by July 27 at the latest) and then RCs start a month after that.

Thanks as always,
