Re: [css-d] 3 column top margin

2005-12-06 Thread Albert Padley
I'm sure hoping someone can take a look at this and help me. The site
looks as expected in all the major browsers except Windows XP IE 6.0.
Take a look at it in Firefox and you will see that the center column
has a white background with black text. In IE, however, the white
background and text disappear. The only thing visible in the center
column is the gold background of the containing div and the top left
and right rounded corners.

 My first priority, however, has to be getting IE 6.0 to display the

 1. I need to have the 3 columns butt up against the magenta bar.
 I've been working on this for over a day and can't seem to get it
 right.
 2. The center column div has the golden background. The center
 column #content div has a white background with a 1 em margin on
 all sides. On the left and right sides, the golden color shows
 through. This is what I expect. However, I want the same 1 em
 golden color to show at the top and bottom of content. Pointers
 please.

 Remove margin from #content,
 remove margin and change padding to 1em in .centercolumn, change
 width in .rightcolumn to 13.1em.

 Works in Firefox, didn't check anything else.

Re: [css-d] 3 column top margin

2005-12-06 Thread Albert Padley
Those bottom images were causing display problems in some older
browsers, so I commented them out. I'm concerned, however, about the
apparent inconsistent display in IE 6. Any ideas? Anyone else care to
join in?

Thanks.

 Funnily enough it did what you said on my home machine.

 However, I uncommented your image bit:
 !--  img src=images/BR_corner.jpg alt= class=floatrightimg

 and that made a significant difference, whether it was what was
 suppsed to
 happen is another thing.

 Oh, and I see where the random /div came from.

IE/win is playing 'hide and seek' with your page :-)

The following is one way to make IE/win play nicer:

#content {
background-color: white;
overflow: hidden;
  }

* html #content {
overflow-y: visible;
height: 0; }

[css-d] 3 column top margin

2005-12-03 Thread Albert Padley
I have been asked to move a heavily table based layout to a css based
layout. I have been mostly successful in that the html and css
validates. I am developing first for Firefox 1.5. Once I get it
correct in Firefox, I'll worry about other browsers. I have two
remaining problems and I appreciate some insight from the list.

HTML and CSS are located here:

http://karaokesource.com/template.php
http://karaokesource.com/karaoke.css

1. I need to have the 3 columns butt up against the magenta bar. I've
been working on this for over a day and can't seem to get it right.

2. The center column div has the golden background. The center column
#content div has a white background with a 1 em margin on all sides.
On the left and right sides, the golden color shows through. This is
what I expect. However, I want the same 1 em golden color to show at
the top and bottom of content. Pointers please.

Thanks.

Al Padley

BTW, the dns was changed 24 hours ago, so it is possible it may not
have propagated for everyone. It is resolving for me, but apologies
in advance if you can't get to the above files.
