[CTRL] Israel Targeting Children?

'I can't imagine anyone who considers himself a human being can do this'

On Friday a four-year-old Palestinian boy was shot dead by a soldier - the most
recent child victim of the Israeli army. Chris McGreal investigates a shocking
series of deaths

Nine-year-old Abdul Rahman Jadallah's promise to the corpse of the shy little
girl who lived up the street was, in all probability, kept for him by an Israeli
bullet. The boy - Rahman to his family - barely knew Haneen Suliaman in life.
But whenever there was a killing in the dense Palestinian towns of southern Gaza
he would race to the morgue to join the throng around the mutilated victim. Then
he would tag along with the surging, angry funerals of those felled by rarely
seen soldiers hovering far above in helicopters or cocooned behind the thick
concrete of their pillboxes. Haneen, who was eight years old, had been shot
twice in the head by an Israeli soldier as she walked down the street in Khan
Yunis refugee camp with her mother, Lila Abu Selmi.
"Almost every day here the Israelis shoot at random, so when you hear it you get
inside as quickly as possible," says Mrs Selmi. "Haneen went to the grocery
store to buy some crisps. When the shooting started, I came out to find her. She
was coming down the street and ran to me and hugged me, crying, 'Mother,
mother'. Two bullets hit her in the head, one straight after the other. She was
still in my arms and she died."

Later that day, the crowds pushed into the morgue at the local hospital to see
the young girl on the slab, partly in homage, partly to vent their anger. Rahman
pressed his way to the front so he could touch Haneen. Then he went home and
told his mother, Haniya Abed Atallah, that he too wanted to die. "Rahman went to
the morgue and kissed Haneen. He came home and told us he had promised the dead
girl he would die too. I made him apologise to his father," Mrs Atallah says.

Weeks passed and another Israeli bullet shattered the life of another young
Palestinian girl. Huda Darwish was sitting at her school desk when a cluster of
shots ripped through the top of a tree outside her classroom and buried
themselves in the wall. But one ricocheted off the window frame, smashed through
the glass and lodged in the 12-year-old girl's brain. Huda's teacher, Said
Sinwar, was standing in front of the blackboard. "It was a normal lesson when
suddenly there was this shooting without any warning. The children were
terrified and trying to run. I was shouting at them to get under their desks.
Suddenly the bullet hit the little girl and she slumped to the floor with a
sigh, not even screaming," he says.

Sinwar dragged Huda from under her desk and ran with her across the road to the
hospital, itself scarred by Israeli bullets. After weeks in hospital, she has
started breathing for herself again, through a windpipe cut into her throat. She
has regained use of her arms and legs, but will be blind for the rest of her
life.

Rahman was in another class at the same school. The next day, lessons were
cancelled and the boy defied his mother to tag along at the funeral of a slain
Palestinian fighter. The burial evolved into the ritual protest of children
marching to the security fence that separates Gaza's dense and beggared Khan
Yunis refugee camp from the spacious religious exclusivity of the neighbouring
Jewish settlement. As Rahman hung a Palestinian flag on the fence, a bullet
caught him under his left eye. He died on the spot. "It looks as if the soldiers
saw him put the flag on the fence and they shot him," says Rahman's brother,
19-year-old Ijaram. "There were many kids next to him, next to the fence. But he
was the only one carrying the flag. Why else would they have shot him?"

Britain's chief rabbi, Jonathan Sacks, recently praised the Israeli military as
the most humanitarian in the world because it claims to risk its soldiers' lives
to avoid killing innocent Palestinians. It is a belief echoed by most Israelis,
who revere the army as an institution of national salvation. Yet among the most
shocking aspects of the past three years of intifada that has no shortage of
horrors - not least the teenage suicide bombers revelling in mass murder - has
been the killing of children by the Israeli army.

The numbers are staggering; one in five Palestinian dead is a child. The
Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) says at least 408 Palestinian
children have been killed since the beginning of the intifada in September 2000.
Nearly half were killed in the Gaza strip, and most of those died in two refugee
camps in the south, Khan Yunis and Rafah. The PCHR says they were victims of
"indiscriminate shooting, excessive force, a shoot-to-kill policy and the
deliberate targeting of children".

And children continue to die, even after the ceasefire declared by Hamas and
other groups at the end of June. On Friday, a soldier at a West Bank checkpoint
shot dead a four-year-old boy, G

Petition aims to free Pollard

Ariel Sharon will hand President Bush a parliamentary petition calling for the freedom of Jonathan Pollard. Some 112 Knesset members signed the petition regarding the former U.S. Navy officer serving a life sentence for spying for Israel. “In these very days when the U.S. asks Israel for gestures toward the Palestinians and the release of prisoners, there is room for an American gesture. After more than 17 years in jail, Pollard should be freed,” Likud Knesset member Michael Eitan said. Relatives of Azzam Azzam, an Israeli prisoner held in Egypt on espionage charges, demonstrated in front of the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, calling on Sharon to demand his release as well.

[CTRL] Baghdad Morgues Challenge Madam Tussad's

2003-07-27 Thread William Shannon
-Caveat Lector-
http://www.joevialls.co.uk/transpositions/hussein.html

Update 28 July 2003

Baghdad Morgues Challenge Madam Tussaud’s

A pale, wax-like putty covered part of the two unknown men’s mutilated faces, according to a press photographer who viewed the bodies which lay naked on metal stretchers except for blue cloths over their midsections. "The two bodies have undergone facial reconstruction with mortician's putty to make them resemble as closely as possible the faces of the Hussein brothers when they were alive," a US military official told the journalists viewing the corpses late Friday, in the presence of three forensic pathologists.

The whole Rumsfeld morgue road show was bizarre in the extreme, not unlike leading a pack of journalists around Madam Tussaud’s in London or New York, while asking for their subjective views of the wax exhibits lining the hallways. You can almost hear the proud wax technicians asking, “Does our John Lennon  look a little like John in real life, about the same as John looked in real life, or even more like John than John managed to look in real life?”

The entire conjuring trick revolved around keeping the media pack focused on how much the poor abused cadavers looked like the Hussein brothers, thereby artfully preventing anyone from saying or reporting that there was no resemblance at all. To an extent this worked, with the obedient western media slavishly reporting the “dramatic deaths” of Uday and Qusay Hussein, the fall of the “Saddam Regime”, and anything else their creative proprietors in New York directed them to say.

Rumsfeld’s pathetic propaganda scam did not fool the experts. Independent American forensic pathologist Peter Kirsch, MD, knocked the whole sick subterfuge on the head when he stated in writing, “As a retired forensic pathologist, I can say the photos presented clearly are NOT of Saddam's sons. One of the most individual things about a person is the ear, and on this evidence alone, the corpses shown are not those of Saddam's sons.”

What may be of more interest is why Rumsfeld felt so compelled to go the extra distance of shaving the faces of the unknown men, liberally plastering them with twenty pounds of Play Doh, amputating the leg of one corpse, then placing a plastic bag full of nuts and bolts next to the severed limb on the mortuary table. It is always possible that Rumsfeld suffers from some sort of rare psychiatric disorder we know nothing about, but the more likely answer is that he was over reacting to criticisms of his earlier pathetic efforts in the morgue, mine included.

Although my “Uday & Qusay Hussein Forged Photos – Forensic Analysis” [above] was first posted on Rumor Mill News late on 25 July Australian time, it was first posted on a low-bandwidth building page 24 hours earlier, and thus available for viewing by anyone who knew exactly where to look. After about 12 hours I usually check the building page and do an “edit” for context, grammar and spelling mistakes, then pass the final edited page address on to Steve Seymour, who kindly mirrors it unaltered on a high-bandwidth page, which is then eventually linked by me at Rumor Mill and several other web sites. A slow process, but a sure one.

Obviously Rumsfeld received plenty of scathing criticism from many different directions, but little of this was in the published form. It therefore may or may not be more than a simple coincidence that the new arcane activity in the Baghdad Morgue, sought to specifically address and obliterate all of the criticisms made in my own report.

I criticized the fundamental forensic failure to match the profile of the cadaver to that of the photograph allegedly being used for positive identification. The Baghdad Morgue Play Doh forgery team responded by removing the identification photograph completely, and switching the angle of the cadavers through 90 degrees to further confuse the viewing public.

Where I slammed Rumsfeld for presenting bearded cadavers for “identification” [a criticism enthusiastically supported by senior mortuary staff at one of Australia’s biggest teaching hospitals], the forgery team responded by semi-shaving the cadavers, then reconstructed the jaw lines with putty in an unsuccessful attempt to make them look more like the Hussein brothers. Then the forgery team used more putty to obscure the all-important shaving line on the “Uday” lookalike cadaver.

My comments and those of Dr. Peter Kirsch on the ears were potentially fatal, so the forgery team responded by repackaging the mass media photos so that both ears on the lookalike “Uday Hussein” were tastefully covered by blue plastic sheets. Voila! Unfortunately they missed a crafty Indian photographer who managed to shoot the black and white image shown on this update, which gives a perfect view of “Qusay’s” right ear. You’ve guessed already, haven’t you? The

What is 'Holocaust Denial'?

In recent years, more and more attention has been devoted to the supposed danger of "Holocaust denial." Politicians, newspapers and television warn about the growing influence of those who reject the Holocaust story that some six million European Jews were systematically exterminated during the Second World War, most of them in gas chambers.

In several countries, including Israel, France, Germany and Austria, "Holocaust denial" is against the law, and "deniers" have been punished with stiff fines and prison sentences. Some frantic Jewish community leaders are calling for similar government measures in North America against so-called "deniers." In Canada, David Matas, Senior Counsel for the "League for Human Rights" of the Zionist B'nai B'rith organization, says: (note 1)

The Holocaust was the murder of six million Jews, including two million children. Holocaust denial is a second murder of those same six million. First their lives were extinguished; then their deaths. A person who denies the Holocaust becomes part of the crime of the Holocaust itself.

Often overlooked in this controversy is the crucial question: Just what constitutes "Holocaust denial"?

Six Million?

Should someone be considered a "Holocaust denier" because he does not believe -- as Matas and others insist -- that six million Jews were killed during World War II? This figure was cited by the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg in 1945-1946. It found that "the policy pursued [by the German government] resulted in the killing of six million Jews, of which four million were killed in the extermination institutions." (note 2)

Yet if that is so, then several of the most prominent Holocaust historians could be regarded as "deniers." Professor Raul Hilberg, author of the standard reference work, The Destruction of the European Jews, does not accept that six million Jews died. He puts the total of deaths (from all causes) at 5.1 million. Gerald Reitlinger, author of The Final Solution, likewise did not accept the six million figure. He estimated the figure of Jewish wartime dead might be as high as 4.6 million, but admitted that this was conjectural due to a lack of reliable information.

Human Soap?

Is someone a "Holocaust denier" if he says that the Nazis didn't use Jewish fat to make soap? After examining all the evidence (including an actual bar of soap supplied by the Soviets), the Nuremberg Tribunal declared in its Judgment that "in some instances attempts were made to utilize the fat from the bodies of the victims in the commercial manufacture of soap." (note 3)

In 1990, though, Israel's official "Yad Vashem" Holocaust memorial agency "rewrote history" by admitting that the soap story was not true. "Historians have concluded that soap was not made from human fat. When so many people deny the Holocaust ever happened, why give them something to use against the truth?," said Yad Vashem official Shmuel Krakowski. (note 4)

Wannsee Conference?

Is someone a "Holocaust denier" if he does not accept that the January 1942 "Wannsee conference" of German bureaucrats was held to set or coordinate a program of systematic mass murder of Europe's Jews? If so, Israeli Holocaust historian Yehuda Bauer must be wrong -- and a "Holocaust denier" -- because he recently declared: "The public still repeats, time after time, the silly story that at Wannsee the extermination of the Jews was arrived at." In Bauer's opinion, Wannsee was a meeting but "hardly a conference" and "little of what was said there was executed in detail." (note 5)

Extermination Policy?

Is someone a "Holocaust denier" if he says that there was no order by Hitler to exterminate Europe's Jews? There was a time when the answer would have been yes. Holocaust historian Raul Hilberg, for example, wrote in the 1961 edition of his study, The Destruction of the European Jews, that there were two Hitler orders for the destruction of Europe's Jews: the first given in the spring of 1941, and the second shortly thereafter. But Hilberg removed mention of any such order from the revised, three-volume edition of his book published in 1985. (note 6) As Holocaust historian Christopher Browning has noted: (note 7)

In the new edition, all references in the text to a Hitler decision or Hitler order for the "Final Solution" have been systematically excised. Buried at the bottom of a single footnote stands the solitary reference: "Chronology and circumstances point to a Hitler decision before the summer ended." In the new edition, decisions were not made and orders were not given.

A lack of hard evidence for an extermination order by Hitler has contributed to a controversy that divides Holocaust historians into "intentionalists" and "functionalists." The former contend that there was a premeditated extermination policy ordered by Hitler, while the latter hold that Germany's wartime "final solution" Jewish pol

(said of Gordon Thomas's classic: "Journey into Madness: Medical Torture
and the Mind Controllers"

Under "culpable homicide" in Black's Law Dictionary, (c) "by causing that
human being by threats or fear of violence or by deception to do anything
that causes his death; (d) by wilfully frightening that human being, in
the case of a child or sick person". Now apply those definitions to the
IDENTIFIABLE GROUPS targeted by Campbell for destruction of their mental
health and secondarily (in most cases) their physical health, to such an
extent that death can reasonably be expected to result on a probability
basis. Targeted groups include poor people and elderly people as Tieleman
columns remind us. See if that isn't in effect a violation of the
anti-genocide/anti-hate laws by following the POC links below. See if it
isn't "(b) criminal negligence" as a category of culpable homicide.

It is not merely "cut backs" that he is practicing. Campbell's script
comes right out of Thomas. He is using medical torture for mind control
against targeted, identifiable groups. A "cut back" is the 10% or so NDP
reduction in welfare shortly after the last NDP government took power. The
"CITIZENS" of BC had better study closely the difference between that and
what Campbell's unprecedented 'policies' are about. Start with the POC
links.

The Overthrow Of The
American Republic - Part 37
Testing A Coup
by Sherman H. Skolnick

Supposing there was a sizeable military unit. And they threatened violence in the main city of the Republic. They demanded that the President and the Cabinet resign. Why? The rebellious military accused them of corruption and the President of orchestrating fake terrorist violence by way of controlling the country that way.

Was there such a test and who instigated it? The experiment was in progress on July 27, 2003, in Manila, the Republic of the Philippines. (The capital being Quezon City.)

The President stated, that as Commander-in-Chief, she is informing the rebellious military unit that they crossed the line of professionalism. That she is giving them such and such number of hours to surrender or forces will be sent to put down the rebellion (implying that there were forces loyal to her as President and Commander-in-Chief).

In 1972, a previous Philippine President, to entrench his dictatorial power, staged fake would-be-violence against himself, stating there was in the works, a movement to overthrow him. That Philippine President thereafter, suspended the Philippine Constitution invoking Martial Law. These tests were/are important because the Philippine Constitution is patterned after, if not identical, to the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Was it an "accidental" happening in 1972? Is it just a coincidence in 2003, when the occupant and resident of the U.S. White House was installed by a Military-Style, five person Junta of the U.S. Supreme Court? And that drumhead Justice installed who was to be the occupant and resident of the White House. Were ordinary Americans aware of, if not shocked, by what some called "The Gang of Five", declaring in a just-before-Midnight proclamation that Americans have no fundamental right to vote for President, rather, just a very limited right to vote for Presidential Electors who, in turn, meeting as the Electoral College, after the supposed Presidential Election, to themselves choose who, if anyone, is to be in the White House.

Through website and foreign news items, important questions have been raised. [1] That the tragedy of September 11, 2001, did not, in being actually carried out, involve Arabs. That the bloodshed against Americans on that day was greatly patterned after the Northwoods Project, planned by dictatorial Joint Chiefs of Staff in 1962, wanting to justify an invasion of Cuba. The documents were first publicized in a book coming out shortly before 9-11, namely, "Body of Secrets" by James Bamford, an expert on the super-secret NSA, the National Security Agency. [2] The Arabs were not actually on any of the accused aircraft in 9-11, but were blamed for the happenings by the White House with the aid of the lapdog press. Some of the Arabs were actually Saudi exchange students studying how to fly airplanes and such, while living on U.S. Military facilities. At least seven of the supposed 19 Arab hi-jackers actually are still alive residing in North Africa, among other places.

The problem of understanding 9-11 is purposely intensified by the oil-soaked, spy-riddled American monopoly press which promotes short attention span and that ordinary Americans are to be fed news like to eight year old children. So in reporting the coup test in Manila now, the press will purposely forget the prior Manila event of 1972 and Martial Law test.

Also part of the problem obstructing ordinary Americans from understanding all this is both the education system combined with the mass media.

The subject of the Aristocracy, the Establishment, "the powers that be", the Ruling Class, whatever THEY are called, is a forbidden topic. The criminal underpinnings of the Aristocracy is not a subject, in high schools, or colleges and universities. And the popular press does not/will not ever deal with such subjects. Why? Simple. It would cause ordinary Americans to be class conscious, unlike Europeans who generally are so aware of that. Those who control Congress, the White House and the Executive branch, as well as the Judiciary, from behind the scenes,  are not identified, generally not pictured, or referred to.

Books such as "The Rich and The Super Rich", by Ferdinand Lundberg, published in 1968, are mostly unknown to many ordinary Americans. And his other opus, "The Myth of Democracy" is likewise so. Gustavus Myers' book, "The Great American Fortunes", published in the 1930s, and documenting the criminal past of the Ruling Families, is seldom nowadays referred to or to be found in many libraries. Some Americans are merely amused by Gore Vidal's blistering statements that those who rule us are not the ones we see on the television but persons behind the scenes.

Who dares refer to the Bush Crime Family? And that they are not the aristocracy but

These people run into a credibility problem when it comes to their claims
to be champions of free speech or truth. Zundel has now languished for 6
months in a Canadian jail and the reason in essence is that he is believed
to be a SUBVERSIVE. He has all the small crayons he needs for writing. He
is not given big ones because, like Homer Simpson, he might shove them up
his nose. So let's see Zundel write "Mein Bigtruth" from jail. Online he
was no champion of free speech and truth; nor are Hoffman et al. They are
champions of THEIR opinions and THEIR axes to grind and THEIR www (whining
white wussy) affliction. So this is a huge and stupid ego trip.

IRAN-USA RELATIONS,
BETWEEN SECRET TREATIES AND OPEN THREATS

by Youssef Azizi, Arab Iranian writer-journalist
Arab Monitor

Teheran, May 2003 - After the interruption of relations between the United States and Iran 23 years ago, those relations are passing through a delicate phase that could reveal itself to be decisive for their long-term redefinition.

Much depends on whether the Islamic Republic --the nation that spread the phrases "death to America", "America, Great Satan" and "America at the leadership of the bullies of the world"-- will be forced to confront an assault coming from four sides on behalf of the United States, considering the military occupation of Iraq to be the latest and most important geographic element of a noose closing in on Iran.

The United States broke off relations with Iran in 1980, following the occupation of the American embassy in Teheran by radical students. But even after that incident, President Ronald Reagan had on several occasions sought reconciliation with Iran. The latest attempt was made in the second half of the Eighties, when America sent a group of secret emissaries to Teheran.

However, the Islamic Revolution, then at its apex, could not help but rail against the United States, and the attempt failed, after news of the arrival of the American delegation and of its encounter with the president of the Iranian Parliament, Hashemi Rafsanjani, was leaked to the Lebanese press. That event resulted in a scandal that has become famous under the name Iran-Contra.

The period of George Bush Sr saw no development in the relations between the two capitals. Only afterwards, during the Clinton administration, was it possible to see a certain openness, when Secretary of State Madeleine Albright openly admitted to errors committed by the United States in regard to Iran -- referring to the unlimited support given the deposed Shah and participation in the coup that overthrew nationalist leader Mohammed Mossadeq, the nation's prime minister in the Fifties.

Iranian reformists accuse the regime of having missed more than one chance (such as that presented by the admissions of Albright) to improve relations with the US,  and of failing to take advantage of the opportunity to cooperate with western intelligence agencies in the security area after the American military incursion against the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. They hold the Conservatives (those who maintain control of the government) responsible for calling a halt any time progress  toward normalization of relations between Iran and the United States is possible.

Coquettish exchanges between Iran and the USA -- but up to what point?

More than a year and a half ago, during the military campaign against Afghanistan, Reformist efforts contributed to the breaking of a taboo: Iran and the United States were seated together to work out questions of security in their common interests. That channel remained open even during the Anglo-American war in Iraq.

It was just that sort of contact which US Secretary of State Colin Powell referred to when some time ago he declared that "the US has been in contact with Iran on an issue concerning Israel, Palestine, and developments in Iraq".

According to Powell, the United States was making use of channels "we utilize when it is necessary to get into contact with Iran", adding that "we do not intend to conduct direct and open negotiations, as we do with Syria -- other channels are available which we can use".

It emerges that --officially but "unofficially"-- a meeting was held in New York between Zalmay Khalilzad, President Bush's special advisor for the Middle East and Southern Asia, and the Iranian ambassador to the United Nations,  Mohammed Joad Zareef. The New York Times has spoken of other discreet discussions between Iran and th

State Department Giving Baghdad
to House of Saud?

by Joel Mowbray
April 7, 2003
http://www.townhall.com/columnists/joelmowbray/jm20030407.shtml

With war still raging, the State Department is planning to hold a “Baghdad Conference” a mere six weeks after the conflict ends to determine an interim leadership and to establish a framework for its new government — something that many inside the administration fear could give the House of Saud undue influence in a post-Saddam Iraq.

The plan is modeled after the Bonn Conference, which Zalmay Khalilzad, now U.S. special envoy to Iraq, oversaw to prepare a transitional government that eventually succeeded the Taliban.

Administration officials and various outside experts agree that a Baghdad Conference, if it happens, would be simply the latest attempt by State to undermine the umbrella organization of democratic Iraqi opposition groups, the Iraqi National Congress (INC).

State is already placing —or attempting to place— pro-Saudi individuals in important positions in a post-Saddam Iraq:
*Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Maura Harty recently tapped Beth Payne —who one senior State official says “enjoys a cozy relationship with the Saudis,” even though her job has been to recover abducted American children trapped in the desert prison— to take over the consular section at the new Baghdad embassy.  *State last month forced the Pentagon to appoint longtime diplomat Barbara Bodine —who temporarily refused the FBI entry into Yemen to investigate the U.S.S. Cole— to be civilian administrator in Baghdad.  Bodine has extensive ties to Iraqis — but not the right ones.  Notes a senior administration official, “She only knows the Ba’athists, because that’s who she dealt with, and she’s never bothered getting to know the democratic opposition very well.”  With a long career centered mostly in the Middle East, administration officials describe Bodine as an Arabist who favors traditional, “stable” Arab regimes — the kind where democracy does not flourish. *State’s top pick for ambassador to the post-Saddam Iraq is Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Ryan Crocker, who shares Bodine’s worldview.

But State may not get Bodine into Baghdad; the Pentagon is pushing back to get someone else in that position.  And Crocker will undoubtedly run into opposition from the White House, where the President’s vision of a democratic Iraq is diametrically opposed to Crocker’s view of the Arab world.

The greatest friend the House of Saud might have in the post-Saddam Iraq, though, is Adnan Pachachi, the octogenarian former foreign minister, openly backed by the House of Saud.  State sees Pachachi as the most viable alternative to the INC, and even gave its tacit approval to a conference he organized in London on Sunday as part of a campaign to undermine the staunchly pro-democracy INC.

One administration official says that Khalilzad is "so obsessed with Pachachi that he forced Jalal Talibani [leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, an INC member organization] to put Pachachi on the Iraqi opposition leadership council." But Pachachi was not interested, at least not in being part of the same leadership committee as Dr. Ahmad Chalabi, the head of the INC — and he said as much in a Financial Times column last month.  Yet State persists in wooing Pachachi. But perhaps the greatest threat to the INC and democracy —and the greatest boon for the House of Saud— is the proposed Baghdad Conference.  If held soon after the smoke clears, only the Ba’athists would be likely to come forward.  Since anyone of significance in Iraqi society is a Ba’ath Party member, some party members will necessarily be in the new government — but weeding out Ba’athists will take longer than six weeks.  Likely the only people wil

As we all slowly stagger backward toward "Iraq-gate" and possible impeachment hearings, methinks some kind of "civil war" is breaking out behind the scenes in Washington DC.  Pentagon vs CIA vs White House vs State Department vs FBI.
The more the American people are permitted to know, the more heads must roll,
and the inter-departmental damage controlcould make Iraq look like pattycake ...

Below, tidbits on the background of the journalist who accuses Khalilzad of making deals for the Saudis in Iraq (and Afghanistan?) -- just at a time when, before he could allow the 9-11 commission report to be made public, Bush found it necessary to black out all references to Saudi Arabia's extremely active role in supporting and/or directing "Osama bin Laden's" terrorists.  (The same Bush, please note, whose father profited from bering bagman for the Bin Laden family in America, and who made it a priority to fly the Bin Ladens safely out of America right after 9-11.)

But the question of who's really working for whom gets confusing, listening to the presumably conservative Mowbray: HE identifies Khalilzad as a functionary of the State Department, and State is portrayed as doing things, like Secretary of State Powell himself, at cross-purposes with the Bush Administration and its NSC.

However, Khalilzad works for Wolfowitz, and to me, that puts him squarely in the Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld camp.  How independent of the President can State be? If Khalilzad kisses Saudi ass, it's because the Bush family pimp for the Saudis, as befits oilmen, and if he's as much at home with "terrorists" as with the invisible elite in America's "secret government," it's because he knows full well that our "villains" and "heroes" are Siamese twins, joined at the wallet.

Maybe, like Tenet, Khalilzad is already being set up (by Mowbray and other alleged "whistleblowers") as a scapegoat for future "plausible denial" by the President, who could thereby attribute all covert activities to a "rogue faction" in State or the CIA.

Whistleblower of the year

by Michelle Malkin
December 27, 2002

A young, tenacious journalist did our country a great service this year by refusing to accept conventional wisdom and the status quo. He blew the whistle on powerful figures of authority, exposed deceit and forced change. But you won't see him celebrated on the cover of Time magazine.

That's because Joel Mowbray, a Townhall.com columnist and reporter for National Review magazine and its online counterpart, is too politically incorrect and fearlessly skeptical of official lies to be embraced by the media elite.

Mowbray, 26, hammered the State Department and scooped the jaded Beltway press corps with story after story exposing the bureaucratic foul-ups and diplomatic sellouts that led to national security nightmares.

Mowbray first targeted Visa Express, a program created by the State Depart-ment that allowed wealthy Saudi Arabian tourists to obtain visas through travel agencies. Among the recipients: 3 of the September 11 terrorists.

It took relentless questioning from Mowbray before the Bush administration killed the craven program -- ten months after the terrorist attacks.

State tried to punish the messenger. In mid-July, Mowbray was physically detained. Not in Beijing or Baghdad, mind you, but in our own nation's capital. Government security guards prevented him from leaving the State Department building after a daily press briefing. Officials leaned on Mowbray to produce a classified memo he had obtained. He refused. Here was a clear act of government intimidation of the press.

Shamefully, not a single reporter in the State Department media herd criticized these bullying tactics against a fellow journalist.

But Mowbray remained undaunted. He investigated State's Consular Affairs chief Mary Ryan, a Cl

What a "coincidence" ... New Number Two man in postwar Iraq, the Honorable Ryan Crocker [who works with Khalilzad, who works with Wolfowitz and Perle ... 'Nuff said] just happened to be present, trying to convince the wary Kurds to join the US military effort against Saddam Hussein, when a "terrorist" "trained by Osama bin Laden and working for Saddam Hussein" (!) tried to assassinate a key Kurdish leader ...  No doubt that act had a profound effect on the Kurds, tilting the scales in favor of US interests.  All too conveniently, Crocker was there at just the right moment, pen in hand, to get the Kurds to commit and sign on the dotted line (like Mephistopheles).

According to the news item below, everyone grasped the fact that the timing of the attack on the Kurdish leader to coincide with Crocker's "diplomatic" mission was intentional, constituting a "message" -- but a "message" by whom to whom ... ?

US vs. Iraq:
Saddam may have fired the first shot

By Scott Peterson | Staff writer of The Christian Science Monitor

SALAHUDDIN, NORTHERN IRAQ, AND PARIS - An assassination attempt against a leading pro-Western Kurdish leader in northern Iraq underscores the risk that the US and its allies are taking as they weigh options to topple Iraqi strongman Saddam Hussein. The wily Iraqi leader – long the nemesis of Washington – may not wait for the US and its allies to make the first move. Kurdish sources say that Ansar al-Islam, a radical Kurdish Islamist group, last week targeted Barham Salih – the erudite, pro-Western prime minister of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK). The group is reportedly supported by Mr. Hussein and has links with Osama bin Laden's Al Qaeda network. At the time of the attack, a US diplomatic delegation, led by Ambassador Ryan Crocker, was visiting. One Kurdish source says Mr. Crocker "could hear the gunfight very clearly."

Five bodyguards and two of the attackers were killed in the 10-minute exchange at Mr. Salih's house. Salih was apparently "saved" by a telephone call he received just seconds before stepping out the door.

Kurds have made no secret of their willingness to serve alongside American units if the US decides to oust Hussein. This attack, experts say, could have been a message to the US delegation, or one to the Kurdish leaders, à la Afghan leader Ahmad Shah Masood, who was killed by representatives of Osama bin Laden just days before the Sept. 11 attacks.

"It's not clear yet whether this was a pre-planned hit against [Salih], or a show of challenge to the US team present," says a Kurdish source who requested anonymity.Mr. Crocker's visit is the second – to put diplomatic and military pieces of the puzzle in place – since he made an initial appraisal of the US-protected safe area of northern Iraq last December.Kurdish sources in Iraq tell the Monitor that there are comparisons to this assassination attempt and a successful one carried out by Ansar al-Islam in February last year against Franso Hariri – the top Christian politician in the region. In both cases, a taxi was purchased two days before the shooting; the same name was used both times to buy the car.One surviving attacker, now in Kurdish custody, according to columnist William Safire in the New York Times, said a cadre of "60 Islamic terrorists, trained in Afghanistan by Osama bin Laden" were assigned to infiltrate northern Iraq and "kill Kurdish leaders."

And a defiant Hussein urged Arabs on Sunday to strike at US interests, after President Bush warned that "all options" were on the table. "Half your air defense capacity is destroyed. You fight with the other half, and if the other half is destroyed, you fight with daggers."

Zalmay Khalilzad
The Neocon's Bagman to Baghdad

by ISSAM NASHASHIBI
Counterpunch, April 17, 2003

In addition to "weakening, containing and even rolling back Syria," Israel should "focus on removing Saddam Hussain from power in Iraq - an important Israeli objective in its own right."

These recommendations were contained in a 1996 paper prepared for then-incoming Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu by the Institute for Advanced Strategic and Political Studies. The paper's authors included the current Under Secretary for Defense Policy and chair of the Defense Policy Board, Douglas Feith and Richard Perle, respectively.
Perle whet his neo-conservative whistle under Albert Wohlstetter, a University of Chicago mathematician who was key in drawing up the Pentagon's strategic and nuclear blueprints during the Cold War.

That same Wohlstetter mentored many of the Bush administration's reigning neo-conservatives, including Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, one of the most pro-Zionist of the so-called chickenhawks, and Zalmay Khalilzad.

Who?

"Precisely," said a former associate of the 52-year-old Afghani American and Pashtun native who was appointed last December as the president's "special envoy and ambassador at large for free Iraqis."

"Part of his genius is that the people who are supposed to know about him, don't even know he exists."

According to the White House announcement, Khalilzad "will serve as the focal point for contacts and coordination among free Iraqis for the U.S. government and for preparations for a post-Saddam Iraq." Khalilzad's qualifications include not only advocating Saddam's ouster since the 1980s, but also his proven prowess in orchestrating the installation of the Hamid Karzai regime in Afghanistan after being appointed special U.S. envoy to Afghanistan in December 2001.

Neo-con Credentials

More importantly, perhaps, Khalilzad's impeccable credentials make him a natural for membership in the neo-conservative Cabal which is the driving force behind Washington's Iraq policy.

"He has a narrow of view of the Middle East and South Asia," his former associate stressed. "[Zalmay thinks of] security to the exclusion of everything else. He tends to look at military solutions as the first, not the last policy option."

Such views may not have been inculcated during his education at the elitist Ghazi Lycée school in Kabul, where his father worked as an adviser to the Afghan king, Zahir Shah, or at the American University of Beirut in the early 1970s.

His hawkish views most likely were formed at the University of Chicago, where he studied under Wohlstetter. After obtaining his Ph.D. in 1979, Khalilzad taught political science at Columbia University, where he worked under Zbigniew Brzezinski, the Carter administration's architect of the policy supporting the Afghan mujahideen resistance to the Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan.

In 1984 Khalilzad accepted a one-year fellowship to join the State Department, where he worked for Paul Wolfowitz, then the director of Policy Planning. His fellowship turned into a full-time position that extended through the Reagan administration.

In the first Bush administration, Khalilzad became assistant deputy undersecretary of defense for policy, again working for Paul Wolfowitz, who by then was the Number 3 man at the Pentagon.  In that capacity, Khalilzad rejoined the coterie of policymakers who had successfully pressed th

Historic find to link the Union of the Crowns and Satanism

WILLIAM CHISHOLM

REVELATIONS linked to the Union of the Crowns, including the sinister role played by Scotland’s arch-Satanist, are promised in a new book to be published next month.

The author claims his work will provide startling new evidence which will warrant a fresh look at many aspects of Scottish history before and after the union with England in 1603.

Brian Moffatt’s inspiration for The Devil and King James followed his acquisition of the 16th-century marriage trunk of Francis Stewart, 5th Earl of Bothwell, who was James VI’s illegitimate cousin.

James lived in fear of Francis, regarded by the nation’s witches as the incarnation of their god. Yet the earl was legitimised by the Pope and by Mary Queen of Scots, while the king appointed him Lord High Admiral of Scotland - and, despite being a shadowy figure virtually written out of the history books, he was within an ace of becoming ruler of both Scotland and England.

Mr Moffatt, a former police officer who now runs a craft gallery near Hawick, spotted the unusual piece of ancient furniture at an auction in Derbyshire three years ago. It is dated 6 May 1577.

He said: "We have identified the rare piece as the marriage trunk of Francis, and his wife, Margaret Douglas of Branxholme Castle. The trunk provides the first hard evidence that Francis Stewart, known as the King Devil, was actually involved in the black arts."

The front of the trunk has separate carvings on five panels. The central section shows Christ in Glory, but to his left is the figure of the Earl of Bothwell himself, depicted as the May King.

Francis was tried and exiled for attempting to kill King James by witchcraft in 1593, although he is believed to have returned to Scotland.

Mr Moffat says the carved trunk with its images of Christian and devil worship led him on a remarkable voyage of discovery with surprising, and at times almost unbelievable outcomes and conclusions. He warns the resulting book has an extremely controversial "sting in the tail".

A specialist on the reign of James VI has written: "It is impossible to study the details of this period without realising the extraordinary fear which James had of his cousin. It was fear with an underlying horror, totally different from his feelings for his other turbulent subjects."

Rothschild Goes to Labour’s Aid
The Sunday Times – July 27,2003

Once the Rothschild dynasty represented everything Labour most reviled. Now Lady de Rothschild, the American-born entrepreneur and socialite who counts royalty and rock stars as friends, has offered her services as a fundraiser to the party, writes Jasper Gerard.

De Rothschild — known as Lynn Forester before she married the banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild in 2000 — was one of the Democrats most successful fundraisers. She also paid for and organised all President Bill Clinton’s third way conferences, having made more than £100m from the sale of two communications companies she started.

Since her marriage, de Rothschild, 48, has been based in London. Her 71-year-old husband is head of the merchant bank NM Rothschild and his family has a fortune of £500m. (It's probably far more than £500m, the Rothschilds like to play down their wealth and so minimise the extent of their political power. Ed)

Recently she hosted a party for her friend Hillary Clinton. She has also become close to Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. Peter Mandelson is said to be “smitten”. Many Labour stalwarts are likely to be worried at the prospect of the party consorting with grandees such as the de Rothschilds.

But with Labour short of funds to fight the next election — membership and donations from unions are both down — de Rothschild’s intervention could be crucial.

“Whatever Labour wants, I would be happy to help in any way I can,” she says in an interview in today’s Sunday Times News Review.

“Fundraise? I would. I think a lot of this government.”

De Rothschild, who spent her wedding night in the White House as a guest of the Clintons, defended holding such wealth while espousing centre-left opinions: “It is not about being a limousine liberal. I work hard, not only for myself but for others, and I would fight to the death to preserve our way of life.”

Those 16 Words Threaten the Tenure of the Long-Serving C.I.A.
  ChiefBy JAMES RISEN

ASHINGTON, July 26 — Throughout his six-year tenure as
director of central intelligence, George J. Tenet has proved to be one of
  official Washington's most adept survivors.
He survived the awkward transition from Bill Clinton to George W. Bush.
He survived the greatest intelligence failure since Pearl Harbor, the
Sept. 11 attacks. And he survived wars in Afghanistan and Iraq that
stretched the C.I.A.'s capabilities to the limit. He has survived for so
long that just this month, he became the third-longest-serving director in
the C.I.A.'s history, surpassing William J. Casey, President Ronald
Reagan's director, who, gravely ill, left office in 1987 amid the
  Iran-contra scandal.
The controversy comes down to 16 disputed words that President Bush
uttered in his State of the Union address in January: "The British
government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant
quantities of uranium from Africa." Those words have created trouble for
Mr. Tenet, threatening to bring his time at the C.I.A. to an abrupt
  end.
Those who know Mr. Tenet say he has survived in the job by balancing
the demands of the White House against those of leading an intelligence
agency that fiercely guards its independence. But his allegiance to Mr.
Bush and his commitment to run a C.I.A. free of politics have now finally
  come to cross purposes.
C.I.A. directors rarely leave on their own schedules. The job carries
too much potential for scandals and disasters, and something inevitably
comes up or goes wrong that requires an early exit. Even when things go
quietly and well, a new president periodically arrives who wants his own
  custodian of the nation's secrets.
Until quite recently, the 50-year-old Mr. Tenet seemed poised to defy
that history. Associates say that this spring he spoke privately about
stepping down of his own accord within a few months. After enduring a
frenzied pace since Sept. 11, 2001, he appeared ready to leave government
and test the private-sector job market, though some colleagues say Mr.
Tenet, a Queens native, harbors political ambitions and speculate that he
may eventually consider running for Congress.
"He has been thinking about leaving by the end of the summer," one
associate said. "He was talking about it with people a month or two
  ago."
But he did not leave fast enough to skirt another crisis, this one over
the Bush administration's handling of prewar intelligence about Iraq. Now
some people who know him wonder whether he will go ahead with plans to
leave soon or reconsider, to avoid looking as if he was pushed.
The basic problem for Mr. Tenet, who declined a request for an
interview, is that American forces in Iraq have not yet found conclusive
evidence of programs to develop chemical, biological or nuclear weapons.

As a result, Mr. Bush faces criticism that he exaggerated the evidence
before the war to convince the public that Saddam Hussein posed an
imminent threat to the United States. Feeling the heat, White House
officials have started to shift the blame to the C.I.A. and Mr. Tenet,
  saying they provided bad intelligence.
When Mr. Tenet issued a statement on July 11 assuming responsibility
for the State of the Union passage concerning African uranium, he was
following in a long tradition of C.I.A. directors: taking blame for
intelligence lapses that embarrass the president.
"Somebody had to step up to this, and it couldn't be the president,"
observed one intelligence official, adding, "It's an appropriate thing for
  George to do."
Senator Ron Wyden, an Oregon Democrat who serves on the Senate
Intelligence Committee, said after Mr. Tenet's closed-door testimony on
the matter last week, "I don't think there is anyone who does not believe
that George Tenet has fallen on his sword here."
Complicating matters for Mr. Tenet, his assumption of blame for the
State of the Union debacle was not quite left at that. His July 11
statement tried to explain the circumstances surrounding the episode, as
did later Senate testimony by Mr. Tenet and other C.I.A. officials. In the
process, the agency's version of events undercut conflicting statements
  from the White
