breaking international ties by telling Sun Myung Moon that he's a
schizophrenic nutcase?  I think not.  Probably best to accept it on the
surface and giggle at the (spiked) punch and donuts party that went on
afterward.

 That's when an investigation by Congress warned that Moon, after
 having befriended Richard Nixon in his darkest hour, was
 surrounding himself with other politicians to overcome his
 reputation: as the leader of the cult-like Unification Church,
 which recruited unwary college students, filled Madison Square
 Garden with couples in white robes, wed them in bulk and demanded
 obedience.

Well, that's about as satanic as you can get.  Lucifer, if you remember,
wanted God to use his plan of salvation.  *FORCE* all people to do the
right thing.  Do not give them a choice.  That way, all people go to
heaven.  Demand obedience?  Sounds rather Luciferian to me.

 That was before he launched the Washington Times  in response
 to Heavens direction, as he would later say  and a 20-year
 quest to make his enemies bow to him.  He has also claimed, in
 newspaper ads taken out by the Unification Church, that Jesus,
 Confucius, and the Buddha have endorsed him.

I certainly haven't seen any TV ads featuring Jesus endorsing Some Young
Moon.

 Now, this March, Moon was telling guests at the Dirksen Senate
 Office Building that Hitler and Stalin, having cleaned up their
 acts, had, in a rare public statement from beyond the grave,
 called him none other than humanity's Savior, Messiah, Returning
 Lord and True Parent.

Sounds like something you'd read in the Enquirer.

 So no one covered this American coronation, except Moon's own
 Times, which skipped the Messiah part.

Because they probably realize he's crazy.  They probably figure that if
word got out about that, he'd lose credibility and they'd lose their jobs.

If there's a messiah coming, I don't think he'll just stand up on national
television and proclaim it.  I think if there's a messiah, he'd just start
doing his thing.  By his works we shall know him, as they say.  And I
don't think giving silly (and boring lectures) on TV is going to be an
indicator of the true messiah.

 Cut to the ritual.  Eyes downcast, a man identified as
 Congressman Danny K.  Davis (D-Ill.)  is bringing a crown, atop a
 velvety purple cushion, to a figure who stands waiting austerely
 with his wife.  Now Moon is wearing robes that Louis XIV would
 have appreciated.

I don't think a true messiah would prance around wearing a bunch of flashy
robes, either.  Nothing against people who like to dress up in costumes and
make believe they're more than they really are (human), but if a true
messiah ever did something like that, I think it would be to demonstrate
how silly it is to wear a million dollars worth of clothes and lecture the
world about why gay people shouldn't be married while a bunch of kids are
dying of starvation in Africa.

 The spokeswoman for one senator, who asked that her boss not be
 named, said politicians weren't told the awards program was going
 to be a Moon event.  The senator went, she said, because the
 Ambassadors promised to hand out awards to people from his home
 state, people who were genuinely accomplished.  When the ceremony
 morphed into a platform for Moon, she said, people were
 disconcerted.

I would have only gone if they were going to hand out free party favors and
little mini-bottles of liquor.

 I think there was a mass exodus, she said.  They get all these
 senators on the floor, and this freak is there.

LOL!!!

 George Soros has recently gotten lots of coverage as a supposedly
 eccentric billionaire influencing U.S. politics.  But Soros is no
 Moon.  In Moon's speeches, a peace kingdom is envisioned, in
 which homosexuals  whom he calls dung-eating dogs  would be a
 thing of the past.  He said in January: Gays will be eliminated,
 the three Israels will unite.  If not, then they will be burned.

Jeez... and the Bible says that love is the highest law.  He who loves his
neighbor has fulfilled the law.  Eliminating and burning gays doesn't
really sound like loving your neighbor to me.

 And ignoring every mainline Christian denomination's rejection of
 the idea of Jewish collective guilt, Moon's latest world tour
 calls on rabbis to repent for betraying Christ, the Jerusalem
 Post reported last week.  Speaking in Arlington, VA in 2003, Moon
 said Hitler killed six million Jews as a penalty for this
 rejection.  And he's frank about calling for democracy and the
 U.S. Constitution to be replaced by religious government that he
 calls Godism, calling the church-state separation the work of
 Satan.  The church and the state must become one as Cain and
 Abel, he said in the same sermon.

That's never worked in the past.  It's always been a giant oppression
machine, which is what it sounds like Moon Pie wants, who, by the way,
makes Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell look tame.

 To many Christians, Moon was offensive, preaching that Jesus
 failed and that he would clean up the mess.

The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the 
United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television,and Miss Black 
America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, 
White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America and see what happens. Jesse 
Jackson will be knocking down your door.

I have the right NOT to be tolerant of others because they are different,weird, or 
tick me off. When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70%of 
the population is black, that is not racial profiling, it is the law of statistics.

I know what sex is, and there are not varying degrees of it. If I received sex from 
one of my subordinates in my office, it wouldn't be a private matter or my personal 
business. It would be FIRED immediately!

I believe that if you are selling me a milk shake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper 
or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an 
American citizen you should have to speak English!.

We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make

A new book by a prominent Washington psychoanalyst says President George W. Bush
is a paranoid meglomaniac as well as a sadist and untreated alcoholic. The
doctor's analysis appears to confirm earlier reports the President may be
emotionally unstable.

Dr. Justin Frank, writing in Bush on the Couch: Inside the Mind of the
President, also says the President has a lifelong streak of sadism, ranging
from childhood pranks (using firecrackers to explode frogs) to insulting
journalists, gloating over state executions ... [and] pumping his fist gleefully
before the bombing of Baghdad.

Even worse, Dr. Frank concludes, the President's years of heavy drinking may
have affected his brain function - and his decision to quit drinking without the
help of a 12-step program [puts] him at far higher risk of relapse.

Dr. Frank's revelations comes on the heels of last week's Capitol Hill Blue
exclusive that revealed increasing concern by White House aides over Bush's
emotional stability.

Aides, who spoke only on condition that their names be withheld, told stories of
wide mood swings by the President who would go from quoting the Bible one minute
to obscenity-filled outbursts the next.


Bush shows an inability to grieve - dating back to age 7, when his sister died.
The family's reaction - no funeral and no mourning - set in motion his
life-long pattern of turning away from pain [and hiding] behind antic behavior,
says Frank, who says Bush may suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder.

Other findings by Dr. Frank:

His mother, Barbara Bush - tabbed by some family friends as the one who
instills fear - had trouble connecting emotionally with her son, Frank argues.
George H.W. Bush's emotional and physical absence during his son's youth
triggered feelings of both adoration and revenge in George W.
The President suffers from character pathology, including grandiosity and
megalomania -- viewing himself, America and God as interchangeable.
Dr. Frank has been a psychiatrist for 35 years and is director of psychiatry at
George Washington University. A Democrat, he once headed the Washington Chapter
of Physicians for Social Responsibility.

In an interview with The Washington Post's Richard Leiby, Dr. Frank said he
began to be concerned about Bush's behavior in 2002.

 I was really very unsettled by him and I started watching everything he did
and reading what he wrote, and watching him on videotape. I felt he was
disturbed, Dr. Frank told Leiby. Bush, he said, fits the profile of a former
drinker whose alcoholism has been arrested but not treated.

Dr. Frank's expert recommendation? Our sole treatment option -- for his
benefit and for ours -- is to remove President Bush from office . . . before it
is too late.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan refused to comment on the specifics of Dr.
Frank's book or the earlier story by Capitol Hill Blue.

I don't do book reviews, McClellan said, even though he last week recommended
the latest book by the Washington Post's Bob Woodward to reporters at the daily
press briefing.

In 1825, Michael Solomon Alexander, a Prussian-born Ashkenazi Jew having made his home in England, was converted to Christianity. He soon joined the Jews' Society [for the "cobersion" of Jews] and represented it in Prussia, but this mission was a failure as far as the number of converts was concerned. Alexander returned to England, in the very year that the Apostolic Church was founded (1830). For a dozen years he worked on creating the Revised Version of the New Testament -- essentially the Westcott Hort translation. (This is proof that Alexander was at least a pawn of the English Rosicrucians, because Westcott was a disguised Satanist in the Anglican clergy and very much involved in secret societies with the Rothschilds and Arthur Balfour. At least one website reports that Westcott was "a master mason and secretary general of the Rosicrucian Society of England.")

Then, in 1841, England and Prussia came forth jointly with an amazing announcement -- they were setting up a Protestant bishopric in Jerusalem. And none other than [converted Jew] Michael Alexander was chosen to occupy this position, appointed by queen Victoria no less!

There are historians who say that this Jerusalem bishopric was fully the idea of king Frederick William IV of Prussia, and not at all of the Anglicans, but others are not so naive. Clearly, the Jews' Society was at the root of the scheme, and Zionist supporters within the German Rothschilds' circle may have had everything to do with persuading Frederick and his Lutherans to have a Protestant representative in Jerusalem.

We know that the Jews' Society was involved with Alexander's [crypto-Jewish] Bishopric because, in an official statement apologizing for the scheme, we read in part, that "the venerable Earl of Shaftesbury, brought [the bishopric] the support of numerous friends". Indeed, Lord Shaftesbury was the Jews' Society's President! Shaftesbury's father in law, Lord Palmerston, was the British Foreign Secretary. In 1840, only two years prior to Alexander assuming the bishopric, Palmerston began to take an outspoken interest in Zionism, announcing officially that Jews should re-settle Palestine, while Shaftesbury, the recognized political leader of the British Zionist thrust, wrote such things as, "it may be safely asserted that [Jews] contemplate a restoration to the soil of Palestine"

One can't help but notice the timing of the Palmerston statement, just as the Jerusalem bishopric was being readied for implementation. Palmerston wielded British troops in Palestine in 1840, and a British Consulate was founded in Jerusalem by Shaftesbury in 1842. How could the Rothschilds not have been involved in this scheme, either for it or opposed? If they did not show disapproval, we could infer that they must have approved it. And if the Rothschilds supported it, we'd expect Freemasons to support it also.

Freemasons" were involved in it with Palmerston and Shaftesbury:

I have to admit, LaRouche's portrait of "Hegelian" plots by the British "Elect" in the 1700s (even then under Cecil tutelage by way of the Royal Society) does seem to make sense. Tucson Pigs raid house for upsidedown flags

Tucson Police raided a house on (28th)Friday evening that belongs to local Tucson activists. The house in question is on Speedway just west of Tucson. The house had several promonant American Flags on display. Normally the Cops would appaud such rampant patriotism, but these flags were in the upside-down "distress" positions. Flags have been stolen previously by Frat boys and over-zealous Marines (they were caught multiple times and they admitted it.)
On Fri. a gathering was being held at the residence. Police were seen cruising by the house multiple times. Around 12:30 the Pigs started their assault. First 2 cars showed up and they immediatly arrested the nearest resident. Within minutes the house was surronded by 15 cop cars and a helicoptor. Many of the attendants fled the property, Many stayed. The police tried to enter the residence and when they were told they had no right they immediatly started citing those who denied them such. It was appearent to all there that this was no ordinary "noise disturbance" and that the cops had been waiting to attack the house the first chance they got. The cops gave no order to disperse at any time.
The Pigs hung around for hours waiting for a warrent to come through. One would think that 10 cop cars patrolling the street for DUIs would be a much better use of taxpayer money but the pigs thought otherwise. Between 2 and 3 the warrent came through and the cops immediatly arrested everyone present at the house for "unruly gathering." Though one wonders how there can be an unruly gathering in their own home (unless of course they called the cops themselves). Police seized legal items from the house and drained all alcohol on the premises.
This assault on civil rights was reported to the ACLU and a lawyer has been placed on the case. First court appearences are for the 8th and 9th. When the date of the hearings are found out they will be posted, anyone concerned about the police state we are living in will be encouraged to attend

Rocket slams into U.S. headquarters

MANAMA, JUNE 13. Sustaining the surge in recent attacks, Iraqi guerillas
today fired a rocket into the Republican Palace, the headquarters of the
U.S.-led Coalition administration in Iraq, while a suicide bomber detonated
a car packed with explosives outside an American military camp near Baghdad,
killing at least 12 people and wounding 13.

While guerillas have earlier fired rockets and mortars inside Baghdad's high
security green zone, across the Tigris river, this was the first occasion
when the Republican Palace of the former President, Saddam Hussein, had
received a direct hit. U.S. officials underplayed the incident saying that
the attack had caused only minor damage to the building. Persisting with
their strategy of derailing the interim Iraqi administration, gunmen today
killed Kamal al-Jarah, an Education Ministry official in charge of
establishing contacts with foreign countries and the United Nations. This
was the second assassination of a senior Government figure, and took place a
day after Bassam Qubba, interim Deputy Foreign Minister was shot dead.

Mr. Al-Jarah was killed outside his home in the capital's Ghazaliya
district, a neighbourhood dominated by Sunnis. Earlier during the day, a car
bomb exploded outside a base of the U.S. First Cavalry Division. Police
officials on the spot said the blast took place after two police cars tried
to stop the suicide bomber. Apart from the police cars, eight civilian
vehicles were badly damaged.

The violence sweeping across Iraq saw on Saturday, an assassination attempt
on a senior police official in Baquba, 64 km northeast of Baghdad. Brig.
Majeed Almani Mahal, the targeted official, was recovering in hospital,
officials were quoted as saying.

The chief of Iraq's border police, Maj. Gen. Hussein Mustafa Abdul-Kareem,
was also lightly wounded on the same day when gunmen fired on his convoy in
Baghdad.

Video clip of the shooting of Robert Jacob in the Saudi capital

Last week, US national Robert Jacob was shot dead at his home in Riyadh.
He worked for US defence contracting firm Vinnell, a unit of Northrop
Grumman Corp which trains the Saudi National Guard, an elite force
protecting the pro-US monarchy.

Several Islamic Web sites Saturday carried links to a videotape -
purportedly
from al-Qaida - that claims to show the killing and beheading of American
Robert Jacobs, who was shot at his Riyadh home Tuesday.

A videotape posted on a website attributed to al-Qaeda shows what is claimed
to be Mr Jacob's murder.

The murder of the Jewish American Robert Jacob, who worked for the Vinnell
espionage firm, a statement announcing the video on the website says.

Chanting glorifying jihad, or holy war, is heard in the background on the
tape as two men are seen chasing a Western-dressed man who screams: Wait,
wait! No, no!

The video shows a man who seems to be a Westerner fall to the ground in
front of a garage as two men holding guns run towards him.

Seconds later some 10 gunshots ring out as the man falls to the ground.

The al Qaeda Organisation in the Arabian Peninsula said in a statement
on the Sawt al Jihad (Voice of Jihad) Islamist website that the man
kidnapped at the same time was Paul Marshal Johnson, a 49-year-old
New Jersey engineer specialising in Apache helicopters whom it branded
an American Christian parasite.

The statement is signed the voice of Jihad: al-Qaeda in the Arabian
Peninsula.

US national Robert Jacobs was killed by gunmen on Tuesday in the fifth
assault on Westerners in the world's leading oil exporting country in five
weeks.

Saudi-born Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda, blamed for the September 2001 attacks
on US cities, has vowed that 2004 would be bloody and miserable for Saudi
Arabia, a key US ally.

Iraq's History May Be Repeating; Is America Stuck Playing the Role of the Redcoats?By Robert KrulwichJune 13, 2004 Americans remember and relive 1776, when American patriots fired at Redcoats, battled the British, and created a nation.

Iraq had its patriots, too. In 1920, the British controlled Iraq, and Iraqis also fired at British troops and began their fight for independence.
"The 1920 revolt is the great myth of Iraqi history," says Toby Dodge, a Middle East historian. "It's what every Iraqi school kid is taught. This is when your country was born. This is when your great-grandfather rose up and tried to kick the British out in the first moment of Iraqi nationalism."
And just as we remember Valley Forge and 1776, Iraqis remember Baghdad and 1920. At a demonstration this year, an Iraqi crowd chanted, "We will start the revolution of 1920 again."
The 1920s mattered to Iraqis. The Shiites remember it one way, the Sunnis another way. But how they remember their great revolt may have a lot to do with the fate of the current Iraq war in 2004.
Liberators
During World War I, the British invaded Iraq then known by its biblical name, Mesopotamia moving pretty much up the route the Americans took 86 years later. At the time, the area was ruled by the Ottoman Turks.
But the British were able to rout the Turks and declare Iraq a free country. In his first proclamation from Baghdad, the conquering British general, Stanley Maude, said: "Our armies do not come in your cities and lands as conquerors or enemies, but as liberators. I am commanded to invite you to participate in the management of your own civil affairs."
The mission, Maude said, was to prepare Iraq for statehood and democracy.
But once the British took over, there were problems. The locals weren't all that cooperative. The British weren't all that sensitive. Whatever the reason, after two years, there had been no new constitution and no new election.
When the British proposed a tax, the Iraqis said no. Instead, they fought the British.

It wasn't until after June 14, 1976, that I became aware of this
annual Flag Day observance, but that US Bicentennial Flag Day
was a day that set the direction of my life because of what happened
that summer.  What may seem like a coincidence that day has turned me
into one of the most stubborn believers in the Hopi Prophecy fulfillment.

I had heard the traditional Hopi interpreter Thomas Banyacya give his
talk about the Hopi Prophecy teachings on May 28th that year and
was so moved by his message, especially the part when he zapped
me looking into my eyes while he said the part about the true white
brother coming to the Hopi land very soon, wearing a red cap or red
cloak and bringing many new inventions.  Because I believed so
strongly that my chemical physics of consciousness theory, my
Tetron equations, would mean the development of many new
inventions, after I read his Hopi Declaration of Peace over and
over about a hundred times, I thought I should perhaps dye something
red and go to the Hopi land to see what happened.  This determination
lasted only long enough for me to decide that as a chemist it should be
a lab coat that I dye red, and to get one to dye red and wear. Then I
started thinking about this whole notion of prophecy fulfillment.

Then I started fearing ridicule and who does he think he is kind of
humiliation coming my way should I try this.  I wondered how I
could get out of making such a fool of myself if it were not my
destiny and how to tell if it was, etc.  I decided that for such
an important purpose, I should seek a sign from God like Moses
got the Burning Bush as a sign from God.

So on that bicentennial Flag Day I went to the top of a mountain
overlooking the San Francisco Bay and closed my eyes and
deeply meditated for a while on this, feeling relieved that I would
not have to do this thing because, after all, getting a sign from
God was for folks like Moses, not guys like me, so I was relaxed
thinking this would get me off the hook.  But when I opened my
eyes, the spot on the bay where my gaze landed had developed
a long column of smoke coming up like a big exclamation mark.
As I watched it, fire at the bottom became visible and then it
began burning up the canyon towards me for a while and then
the wind shifted and it burned over to the canyon to my left until
the borate bombers came and dumped red borate solution on
the fire.  So that's why I dyed my lab coat red at the June 21 Summer
Solstice gathering under auspices of the All One Family Union and
then went to the Hopi land, camped at Oraibi Wash there for two
months and had some incredible experiences that have formed
the basis of my religion since then, including meeting someone
who came there right after the Rainbow Gathering that year and
got dropped off at my campsite by coincidence.  On July 18 we
went to the nearby Kachina dances as a spiritual team and
coincident with our positioning and arrival came the appearance
of the two Morning Kachinas symbolizing the last hope prayer
of the Hopi people, as we were told later.  The two men who
took part as those two Kachinas (which had never before appeared
in the long lifetimes of many who witnessed this) had fasted for
four days without food or water or sleep while singing/chanting that
same prayer they did as they entered and participated in that dance.
That July 18 morning at our camp had a long full double rainbow
after which we met the Hopi Grandfather David Monongye at the
trading post before going to the dance.  He walked up to me and
stood very close when he simply said you are my brother.  I was
wearing that red labcoat all the time there then but the visitor from
the Rainbow Gathering didn't know about the symbol.  He was into
the prophecies of the book of Revelations so we went from the
dance shortly after the

The Son of Patriot Act Also Rises

Kerry will save us! *snicker*While activists and politicians work to repeal or change parts of the Patriot Act that they say violate constitutional rights, Patriot Act II legislation -- which caused a stir when it came to light last year -- is rearing its head again in a new bill making its way through Congrress. The bill would strengthen laws that let the FBI demand that businesses hand over confidential records about patrons by assigning stiff penalties (up to five years in prison) to anyone who discloses that the FBI made the demand. The bill would also let the FBI compel businesses to cooperate with record requests, and it would expand the government's secret surveillance powers over noncitizens in the United States.

"There is no reason for this legislation," said lawyer Chip Pitts, head of the Bill of Rights Defense Committee of Dallas and a former constitutional law professor. "Given the expanse of powers and secrecy already granted in the Patriot Act, and given the unclear security benefits and possible security detriments of that legislation, why do we need a further amendment of the law to grant more powers to the government?"
The bill, known as the Anti-Terrorism Intelligence Tools Improvement Act of 2003, or HR 3179, was introduced last September by Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-Wisconsin) and was co-sponsored by Rep. Porter Goss (R-Florida), chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and a possible contender to replace departing CIA chief George Tenet.
It contains four sections that first appeared in a proposed piece of legislation dubbed Patriot Act II. That proposed law was discovered last year by the Center for Public Integrity just weeks before the invasion of Iraq. Patriot Act II, or "Son of Patriot" as critics called it, was written by the Justice Department to expand Patriot Act powers, but the department was forced to shelve the proposal after news of it created an uproar.
But critics, like conservative former Rep. Bob Barr (R-Georgia), say that rather than abandoning the legislation altogether, the department has been extracting provisions and having sympathetic lawmakers slip them one by one into new bills to pass the legislation piecemeal. At least five other bills pending in Congress also contain provisions from Patriot Act II, but HR 3179 is the one that's in imminent danger of being passed under the radar.
Last year, a Patriot Act II provision was slipped into the Intelligence Authorization Act of 2004 at the last minute and passed quickly before legislators opposed to it had time to fully examine it. The Intelligence Authorization Act, an annual bill that allocates funds for intelligence agencies, is a must-pass bill that generally gets drafted and passed quickly in secrecy.
The new bill, HR 3179, was set to pass through Congress without a hearing last year, but the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Sensenbrenner, changed its mind and held a hearing May 18. The bill is waiting for markup in that committee, but critics fear that Rep. Goss and the House Intelligence Committee will slip the bill into this year's Intelligence Authorization Act during a closed-door hearing on June 16, and pass it quickly before lawmakers can revise or further debate it.
Proponents of HR 3179 say critics are overreacting to the bill. They say the bill will simply "plug a few gaps" in the Patriot Act by establishing penalties for noncompliance that were never specified in the Patriot Act.
But opponents say the bill grants the government more power to investigate people without probable cause and to do so under a cloak of secrecy. As a result, individuals being investigated will have no chance to protest unconstitutional searches and seizures.

Police officer may have to explain links to terror suspects 
(Madrid) The Commission investigating the events surrounding the 11 March 
terrorist attacks is to examine the relationship between 
police and some of the suspects, it emerged Thursday. It is 
considering asking a police inspector who used three of the suspects as 
informers to appear before the commission. Manuel García Rodríguez is a police 
inspector in Aviles in Asturias, northern Spain. The Spanish daily El Mundo 
claimed Thursday three suspects had a relationship with Garcia before and after 
the bombings. The suspects allegedly made calls to the police officer and the 
Islamic radical from the same telephone box just outside the police station in 
Aviles, the paper reported. [Did Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar have 
foreknowledge of the 3-11 attacks in Madrid? The attacks may have 
beencarried out with the Aznar (and Bush?) regime's hopes to

Tonsil tests suggest thousands harbour vCJD

Almost 4000 Britons aged between 10 and 30 may be harbouring the prion proteins that cause the human form of mad cow disease. The new estimate comes from direct analyses of human biopsies, and is much higher than epidemiological projections of the likely number of deaths from variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (vCJD).
The investigators discovered three infected tonsil or appendix samples from a total of 12,674 stored between 1995 and 1999. However, because so few positive samples were found, the projected total of 3808 can only be speculative. Furthermore, harbouring the prions may not necessarily lead to vCJD.
"I don't think too much should be read into our findings, but they should be investigated further," says David Hilton, of the Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, UK, who led the study.
He notes that only one of the three positive samples matched the usual pattern of prion accumulation seen in confirmed vCJD cases.
The other two are different. "It could mean these are false positives," says Hilton. If they are, then the predicted incidence of the disease drops by two-thirds, from 237 per million British citizens to just 79 per million.
Fresh samples
Concern at Hilton's preliminary findings in 2002 prompted the UK government's Health Protection Agency to launch in 2003 a much larger screening study based on an archive of 100,000 freshly collected tonsil samples.
"The most important thing will be to have a very large number of samples in good condition," says Pat Troop, chief executive of the HPA. "We'll test them in batches, and if there are significant findings en route, I would expect the Department of Health to publish them."
But many of the fresh samples will come from children whose food is now free of the cow prions thought to have passed BSE to humans. "That is a possible weakness," says Hilton.
His own study focused on preserved samples from the people most heavily exposed during childhood and early adulthood to meat from cattle with BSE.
Species barrier
Hilton says that the low number of three positives from such a heavily exposed group may indicate that cow prions seldom pass from cows to humans, because of a so-called "species barrier".
"From the observed cases, the species barrier does seem to be very high," he says. "But we need to do these large scale studies to find out more."
The Department of Health says that the uncertainties in Hilton's studies justify its measures to protect patients. These include filtering potentially infective white blood cells from blood donations, and upgrading sterilisation equipment to stop prions spreading on surgical instruments.
Meanwhile, the number of recorded vCJD cases continues to fall from a peak of 28 deaths in 2000. In 2003 there were 18 deaths, with two so far in 2004. In April 2003, when the total deaths had reached 121, epidemiologists downgraded their "best guess" projection of all further deaths to just 40.

The last time I heard this sort of 
Internet buzz, it was the August before 9-11. Now that buzz is stronger 
than anything I heard before 9-11--and it's getting still stronger!

  There's chatter about US Navy 
  deployments.Apparently, all but one operational aircraft carriers have 
  been deployed. I fear something very big and very ugly is about to 
  happen.
The West Coast terrorist 
nuke?

  Seattle? San Francisco? 
  LA?

  I'd bet on Seattle, especially if 
  it's sold as a North Korean missile. LargestUS city closest to 
  North Korea,likely to be more identified as "typically 
  AmericanRegardless, the Boeing company seems to be diversified 
  away from Seattle. E.g. Boeing World Headquarters is now located in Chicago,

  the book some seven years ago, those predictions were about 94% correct.

  "terrorist" attack (nuclear?) on an American overseas military 
  installation. I would suppose this could include a large US Navy vessel, 
  or a multiple-warship task force.
Immediately before 9-11-01 there was 
much selling-short of stocks from firms which would be hurt by the 
disaster. And, yes, that's yet another of the many instances demonstrating 
9-11 foreknowledge

So watch for unusual military 
activityand a flurry of short-selling.

UNITED NATIONS - United Nations officials are quaking over revelations
made in a just released book about the world body that details wild sex
and drug parties on a peacekeeping mission.

As first revealed by NewsMax, the book, Emergency Sex and Other
Desperate Measures (Miramax Books), by Ken Cain, Heidi Postlewait and
Andrew Thomson -- all current or former U.N. employees -- has the
potential of being a major embarrassment for Secretary-General Kofi
Annan.

The U.N. desperately tried to stop the publication of the book -- even
threatening two of the authors with possible dismissal.

Since NewsMax exclusively revealed excerpts of the book -- the book has
gained worldwide attention, with reports in The Times (London), The Daily
Telegraph (London), The New York Post, CNN and other outlets.

Pre-release book sales have also soared -- jumping more than 2 million
slots in Amazon's ranking system.

The controversial hardcover is a compilation of personal memoirs by three
U.N. peacekeeping employees over the last decade.

While the interpersonal relationships the book centers on is of minimal
interest, what the intrepid U.N. employees see around them has lit fires
in U.N. headquarters.

Among many of the observations presented in the book:

--Drug taking and excessive drinking by U.N. personnel in Cambodia and
other peacekeeping venues was common.

--Peacekeepers sent by Bulgaria to serve in Cambodia were in reality
prison convicts and psychiatric ward patients.

--Details of a cover up by a senior U.N. official of an ambush of a U.N.
convoy in Mogadishu, Somalia.

--A demanded kickback of some salary from U.N. employees to their
supervisors.

--An allegation that U.N. chief Kofi Annan personally suppressed a report
(1994) warning of an impending massacre in the African nation of Rwanda.
At the time, Annan directed U.N. peacekeeping affairs.

More than 800,000 people in Rwanda and neighboring Burundi eventually
lost their lives according to the International Committee of the Red
Cross in Geneva.

Warnings

In early April 2004, the two current U.N. employees (Postlewait and
Thomson) received written and verbal warnings that they had violated
staff rules and faced punitive action if the book was released and they
promoted it.

The authors not only ignored the warnings, but have since begun a series
of media interviews and plan a book signing tour later this month.

Miramax pointed out the book would be released since they are not bound
by any U.N. restrictions.

U.N. spokesman Fred Eckhard agreed, but insisted that the U.N. could and
most likely will take action against the two employees.

Despite numerous reports that the U.N. has opted to do nothing other than
reprimand the two authors, Eckhard has insisted that no final decision
has yet been made. He also believes the final act will go beyond a formal
reprimand.

The U.N. has the right to fire the authors but such an action must be
accepted by a disciplinary committee.

The two authors are so-called contract or fixed-term employees.

Any action the U.N. brass eventually takes against the authors is
expected to impact on the entire organization.

Some senior U.N. veterans with permanent contracts, feel that Annan and
Co. will chicken out and just discipline the authors. They are now
actively considering writing their own tales.

I am looking for a $1 million advance, says one high-ranking U.N.
official.

If all I get is a letter of reprimand, I'll take it, he laughed.

The U.N.'s Eckhard would only say stay tuned.

I do have two problems that perhaps you'll be kind enough to help me with,
though???:

1. Back when I changed ISPs and resub'd to CTRL, I repeatedly tried via the
robomail /whatever to get it SET my subscpt'n to DIGEST... and kept getting
robomails insisting there's no such thing! -- exc. that there IS (It's still
on/in the list instructions!) AND I'd been getting it that way for many
years at my previous ISP as of less than a week prior, so...!??

2. ALL of Kris Milligan's posts which are *Fwd's* come BLANK (exc. for the
CTRL disclaimer thingee, which is there).

Any help/advice re:either of these issues would be MUCH appreciated!!

from A's e-mail addressbook, creates an infected message labelled
as coming from address B, and sends it to address C.

Or the sender address may not be spoofed, and may simply indicate
person A.

In either case, the virus program in A's computer sends out
e-mails on its own, without any action by the user.

So if a viral mail was sent to CTRL and appeared to come from Jim,
either Jim's computer is infected or someone else's computer is
whose addressbook contains the address of both Jim and CTRL.

Not sure I understand that

Have heard they do that!  But I have  run an up-to-date VAG et al.  And I
keep my addys in an innoucuously named txt file ( ALWAYS have!!).

 So if a viral mail was sent to CTRL and appeared to come from Jim,
either Jim's computer is infected or someone else's computer is whose
addressbook contains the address of both Jim and CTRL. 

The latter sounds like the likeliest culprit!?  How the hell does one track
these suckers down!???

US urges Americans to leave Saudi Arabia

WASHINGTON, June 14 (Xinhuanet) -- The US government reiterated on
Monday its call for Americans in Saudi Arabia to leave the gulf country for
safety.

We have strongly urged them to depart ever since April 15th, State
Department spokesman Richard Boucher said at a briefing after an American
citizen was found missing in Saudi Arabia since the evening of June 12.

Boucher said the American side is in close touch with Saudi authorities
investigating the apparent kidnapping.

Militants, belonging to the terror organization al-Qaeda led by
Saudi-born Osama bin Laden, announced that it captured US engineer Paul
Johnson, 49, on Saturday.

The militants, who are waging a campaign to drive out foreigners and
sabotage the oil sector to spoil the Saudi economy,also claimed
responsibility for gunning down another American in Riyadh, the capital of
Saudi Arabia, the day before.

They vowed to treat the captive as US troops treated Iraqi prisoners of
war in Abu Gharaib prison near Baghdad. Enditem

A crowd of Iraqis carry an injured man from a damaged building after a car
bomb exploded in central Baghdad, Iraq. A car bomb tore through a convoy in
central Baghdad, killing at least 10 people, including three foreigners
working to rebuild Iraq's power plants.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A car bomb shattered a convoy of Westerners in Baghdad
Monday, killing at least 13 people, including three General Electric workers
and two bodyguards. Crowds rejoiced over the attack, dancing around a
charred body and shouting Down with the USA!

The blast, during the morning rush hour near busy Tahrir Square, was the
second vehicle bombing in Baghdad in as many days amid an upsurge of
bloodshed in the capital only two weeks before the formal end of the
U.S.-led occupation.

Iraq's interior minister said he believed foreigners carried out the attack,
and Prime Minister Iyad Allawi accused Jordanian-born terrorist Abu Musab
al-Zarqawi of trying to disrupt the transfer of sovereignty. Al-Zarqawi,
believed to have contacts with al-Qaeda, is accused in last month's
decapitation of American Nicholas Berg.

The chaotic scene Monday was reminiscent of the violence and anti-American
hatred that accompanied the March 31 slaying in Fallujah of four Americans,
whose bodies were mutilated and hung from a Euphrates river bridge.

Moments after the thunderous blast, which shook the heart of the capital,
young men raced into the street, hurling stones at the flaming wreckage,
looting personal belongings of the victims and chanting slogans against the
occupation.

Iraqi police stood by helplessly - unable to control the crowd only weeks
before they are to assume more security responsibility under the U.S. exit
strategy.

As flames and smoke enveloped the vehicles, youths taunted American troops
and threatened Western journalists. American troops beat one man with a
stick, but after failing to restrain the crowd, the troops and police
withdrew.

Crowds chanted Down with the USA! and set fire to an American flag. Young
men gleefully displayed a British passport and identification card issued by
the Coalition Provisional Authority.

As the police left, the crowd poured kerosene into one of the vehicles and
set it on fire. Heavy, black smoke poured from the vehicle. About 20 youths
danced around a charred body.

The dead included three employees of Granite Services Inc., a wholly owned,
Tampa, Fla.-based subsidiary of General Electric Co., and two security
contractors employed by Olive Security of London. The Westerners included
one American, two Britons, one Frenchman and one victim of undetermined
nationality, officials said.

U.S. officials said 62 people were injured, including 10 foreign
contractors. Hospital officials said many of the wounded had lost limbs.

The foreign victims were helping to rebuild power plants, Allawi said.

The attack was the latest in a series directed against Iraq's infrastructure
or those seeking to rebuild it after decades of war, international sanctions
and Saddam Hussein's tyranny.

GE said Monday it has no plans to pull its workers out of the country.

We remain committed to the reconstruction of Iraq, said GE spokeswoman
Louise Binns.

Nevertheless, the bombing dramatizes the dangerous challenge the United
States faces as it struggles to revive the country's power supply and show
Iraqis the occupation can improve their lives.
