A half-dozen former CIA agents investigating prewar
intelligence have found that a secret Pentagon
committee, set up by Secretary of Defense Donald
Rumsfeld in October 2001, manipulated reams of
intelligence information prepared by the spy agency on
the so-called Iraqi threat and then delivered it to
top White House officials who used it to win support
for a war in Iraq.

More than a dozen calls to the White House, the CIA,
the National Security Council and the Pentagon for
comment were not returned.

The ad-hoc committee, called the Office of Special
Plans, headed by Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul
Wolfowitz, Undersecretary of Defense for Policy
Douglas Feith and other Pentagon hawks, described the
worst-case scenarios in terms of Iraq's alleged
stockpile of chemical and biological weapons and
claimed the country was close to acquiring nuclear
weapons, according to four of the CIA agents, speaking
on the condition of anonymity because the information
is still classified, who conducted a preliminary view
of the intelligence.

The agents said the Office of Special Plans is
responsible for providing the National Security
Council and Vice President Dick Cheney, National
Security Adviser Condoleeza Rice and Rumsfeld with the
bulk of the intelligence information on Iraq's weapons
program that turned out to be wrong. But White House
officials used the information it received from the
Office of Special Plans to win support from the public
and Congress to start a war in Iraq even though the
White House knew much of the information was dubious,
the CIA agents said.

For example, the agents said the Office of Special
Plans told the National Security Council last year
that Iraq's attempt to purchase aluminum tubes were
part of a clandestine program to build an atomic bomb.
The Office of Special Plans leaked the information to
the New York Times last September. Shortly after the
story appeared in the paper, Bush and Rice both
pointed to the story as evidence that Iraq posed a
grave threat to the United States and to its neighbors
in the Middle East, even though experts in the field
of nuclear science, the CIA and the State Department
advised the White House that the aluminum tubes were
not designed for an atomic bomb.

Furthermore, the CIA had been unable to develop any
links between Iraq and the terrorist group al-Qaeda.
But under Feith's direction, the Office of Special
Plans came up with information of such links by
looking at existing intelligence reports that they
felt might have been overlooked or undervalued. The
Special Plans office provided the information to the
Pentagon and to the White House. During a Pentagon
briefing last year, Rumsfeld said he had "bulletproof"
evidence that Iraq was harboring al-Qaeda terrorists.

At a Pentagon news conference last year, Rumsfeld said
of the intelligence gathered by Special Plans: "Gee,
why don't you go over and brief George Tenet? So they
did. They went over and briefed the CIA. So there's no
there's no mystery about all this."

CIA analysts listened to the Pentagon team, nodded
politely, and said, "Thank you very much," said one
government official, according to a July 20 report in
the New York Times. That official said the briefing
did not change the agency's reporting or analysis in
any substantial way.

Several current and former intelligence officials told
the Times that they felt pressure to tailor reports to
conform to the administration's views, "particularly
the theories Feith's group developed."

Moreover, the agents said the Office of Special Plans
routinely rewrote the CIA's intelligence estimates on
Iraq's weapons programs, removing caveats such as
"likely," "probably" and "may" as a way of depicting
the country as an imminent threat. The agents would
not identify the names of the individuals at the
Office of Special Plans who were responsible for
providing the White House with the wrong intelligence.
But, the agents said, the intelligence gathered by the
committee sometimes went directly to the White House,
Cheney's office and to Rice without first being vetted
by the CIA.

In cases where the CIA's intelligence wasn't rewritten
the Office of Special Plans provided the White House
with questionable intelligence it gathered from Iraqi
exiles from the Iraqi National Congress, a group
headed by Ahmad Chalabi, a person whom the CIA has
publicly said is unreliable, the CIA agents said.

More than a dozen CIA agents responsible for writing
intelligence reports for the agency told the former
CIA agents investigating the accuracy of the
intelligence reports said they were pressured by the
Pentagon and the Office of Special Plans to hype and
exaggerate intelligence to show Iraq as being an
imminent threat to the security of the U.S.

nearly a month on whether the intelligence information
it had relied upon was accurate and whether top White

US soldier's mother vents fury at Laura Bush
Friday 17 September 2004, 2:00 Makka Time, 23:00 GMT

A woman wearing a T-shirt with the words "President Bush You Killed My Son"
and a picture of a soldier killed in Iraq has been detained after she
interrupted a campaign speech by US first lady Laura Bush.

Police on Thursday escorted the woman Sue Niederer from a rally at a fire
hall in Hamilton, New Jersey, after she demanded to know why her son, 1st
Lieutenant Seth Dvorin, 24, was killed in Iraq.

Dvorin died in February while trying to disarm a bomb.

As shouts of "four more years" subsided, Niederer, standing in the middle of
a crowd of some 700, continued to shout about the killing of her son.

Handcuffed

Secret service and local police escorted her out of the event, handcuffed
her and placed her in the back of a police van.

Laura Bush continued speaking, touting her husband's record on the economy,
health care and the "war on terror" to those attending the rally in this
suburban community of 90,000 people near Trenton.

She made several references to the 11 September 2001 attacks, and noted that
many in New Jersey, including some in neighbourhoods near the firehall, lost
family members that day.

"Too many people here had a loved one that went to work in New York that
day," Bush said.

"It's for our country; it's for our children, our grandchildren that we do
the hard work of confronting terror," she said.

WASHINGTON (September 16, 1:26 pm ADT) - A federal judge has ruled that a
New York Times reporter must testify before a grand jury as part of an
investigation into the disclosure of an undercover CIA operative's name.
In a decision made public Thursday, U.S. District Judge Thomas F. Hogan
rejected Judith Miller's claim that as a reporter she should not be
compelled to testify about confidential sources.

Federal prosecutors are trying to find out who in the Bush administration
leaked the identity of Valerie Plame, whose name was published by syndicated
columnist Robert Novak on July 14, 2003. Novak cited two "senior
administration officials" as his sources.

It can be a felony to leak the name of an undercover officer.

The Novak column came after Plame's husband, former Ambassador Joseph
Wilson, was critical in a newspaper opinion piece of President Bush's claim
in his 2003 State of the Union address that Iraq sought to obtain uranium in
Niger. The CIA had sent Wilson to Niger to investigate that claim, which he
concluded was unfounded.

Wilson claims his wife was identified as retribution for his article.

After Novak's column, Miller considered writing a follow-up about Wilson and
spoke to one or more sources. However, she never did a story.

In his ruling, Hogan said Miller's testimony "is necessary for completion of
this investigation ... and is expected to constitute direct evidence of
innocence or guilt."

The decision was not a surprise because Hogan had already rejected claims
that the First Amendment protected other journalists from subpoenas.

Meanwhile, a Bush administration official who was a confidential source for
a Washington Post story about Plame and Wilson has come forward to speak
with investigators.

As a result, Post reporter Walter Pincus, who had refused to reveal his
source's name to prosecutors, provided a deposition in the case on
Wednesday. Pincus did not, however, name the administration official.

Two days before the Novak piece ran, Pincus said he spoke with a person he
has identified only as "an administration official" who told him that Wilson
was sent to Niger at the request of his wife. Pincus wrote about the
conversation last October, without naming the administration official.

In his deposition, Pincus said he agreed to be questioned by prosecutors
only with the source's approval.

"I understand that my source has already spoken to the special prosecutor
about our conversation on July 12, and that the special prosecutor has
dropped his demand that I reveal my source. Even so, I will not testify
about his or her identity," Pincus said in a statement.

Four reporters have testified about conversations they had with Vice
President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, Lewis "Scooter" Libby, with Libby's
approval. They testified that Libby did not disclose Plame's name or
identity to them, the Post reported.

Novak has never said whether he has been subpoenaed.

the 1920’s clinical hypnotists learned to split certain individuals into

and Jones B. Jones A, once a ‘normal’ working Marine, became entirely different.

CAFTA: In the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) mold.
The 10 year record of NAFTA's broken promises is working against the
proponents of a Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA). NAFTA (the
North American Free Trade Agreement linking Mexico, Canada and the United
States (U.S.)) has proven disastrous for America, undermining all of our
basic resource industries, spurring a massive exodus of U.S. manufacturing
plants and jobs, and vastly increasing the influx of illegal aliens into
the U.S.
Proponents of these trade pacts claim that a primary objective is to
negotiate a mutual lowering of tariff barriers that will benefit U.S.
exports. In a December 17, 2003 press release, U.S. Trade representative
Robert Zoellick stated that "CAFTA will streamline trade; promote
investment; slash tariffs on goods; remove barriers to trade in
services"... "But Central America can't provide important markets for
American exports. Alan Tonelson, a Research Fellow at the U.S. Business &
Industry Educational Foundation, put the economies of our CAFTA partners
in perspective.
"EL Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica are not
only among the world's poorest countries, they're among its smallest
economies as well. Measured by their ability to buy  U.S. Product, their
combined economic output totaled only $62 Billion, according to the latest
(2002) data. That's less than the output of Orlando Fl. or Bergen County
NJ."
The real export facilitated by CAFTA, as with NAFTA, will be the
relocation of more American Jobs and manufacturing to serve American
Consumers who have not yet lost their livelihoods.

Obviously CBS News did not check the facts, and America has to ask... WHY? Was it due 
to Rather's readily apparent anti-Bush bias that he pushed to air the groundless 
smear? Was the intent to counter President Bush's jump in the polls? And why won't the 
network not take an even-handed, in-depth look at the mounting evidence of fraud?

Glaring omissions marred Rather's weak attempt at a "rebuttal" last Friday, including

Poke holes in the governments ludicrous account of
what happened on 9/11 and mention the possibility
(likelihood) of it being an inside job, and the first
reply is likely to be, "No, thats impossible because
there would be too many people involved." Many
people simply refuse to believe that Misters
Bush-Cheney-Powell-Rumsfeld-Wolfowitz-Feith
would risk the mass murder of 3,000 innocent
Americans just to rev up Americas juices for some
good old-fashioned violence abroad. No, too many
loose lips would sink the U.S.S. Conspiracy, goes
the argument.
But an excursion back in time reveals evidence for
small, mid-size and large conspiracies at the top.
U.S. entry into the misnamed Great War, for
example, was aided by "black ops." While
President Woodrow Wilson called for neutrality in
his political speeches in 1914 and 1915, akin to Mr.
Bushs 2000 declaration against nation-building and
support for "a more humble foreign policy," Wilson
wrote a secret letter to the leaders of the British
government, reinforced by frequent visits from
Wilsons primary adviser, Colonel House, pledging
to bring America into the European war on the
Allied side to guarantee a decisive win (the history
recounted here is based on the thorough research of
John V. Densons magnificent, "Roosevelt and the
First Shot: A Study of Deceit and Deception," here.
Afterward, the fool in the White House planned to
impose his wonderful, worldwide permanent peace
(such megalomania about remaking the world in our
image sounds familiar today, doesnt it?). Before
sending our boys "over there, over there," into
enemy machine gun fire, however, a public change
of heart was needed.
Fortunately, the resourceful Winston Churchill, then
first lord of the Admiralty (Franklin D. Roosevelt
was Woodrow Wilsons assistant secretary of the
Navy, learning treachery on the job) was standing
by to provide some "oomph" for U.S. entry into the
war. Just prior to war, the Cunard steamship
company in England received a government subsidy
to build the Lusitania, the worlds fastest ocean
liner. The subsidy allowed government to take it
over during war and the government had designed a
secret compartment for weapons and ammunition
aboard ship. On the fateful voyage, the British
admiralty under Churchills leadership, changed
captains, substituting Captain William Turner for
the usual captain. As the Lusitania neared its
destination, the Admiralty ordered the military
escort ship, the Juno, to abandon its usual mission,
thereby leaving the ocean liner without protection
from submarines. The Lusitania was not told that it
was then alone, nor that a German sub was directly
in its path, facts known to the Admiralty. The
Admiralty ordered Captain Turner to reduce his
speed, thereby making the Lusitania an easy
torpedo target. When the Lusitania sank, over 100
Americans lost their lives. At a hearing in England
following the disaster, Captain Turner was
disgraced and found guilty of negligence, deflecting
attention from Churchill and the Admiralty, just as
the American commanders at Pearl Harbor would
later become scapegoats for the disaster of
December 7, 1941.
OK, put the Lusitania aside as so much small
change to hasten U.S. entry into WWI. FDR set a
whole new standard. First, consider the espionage
operation in the U.S. by our erstwhile ally, Great
Britain, steering the U.S. into war and paralleling
the espionage of todays neocon cabal. A Canadian
citizen by the name of William Stephenson later
became known by his code name, Intrepid. He was
a personal friend of Winston Churchill who set up a
secret organization rent-free in Rockefeller Center
in New York. The purpose was to help those
likable rascals Roosevelt and Churchill bring
America into the war through false propaganda,
creation of false documents, and whatever means
were necessary, allegedly including murder. One of
the organizations secret agents was Ian Fleming,
subsequent creator of 007, James Bond.
Two false documents proved noteworthy. First,
Intrepid cooked up a false map that Roosevelt
knowingly used in a national radio speech on
October 27, 1941. This document allegedly was
obtained from a German spy and purported to show
Hitlers secret plans to invade South America,
thereby posing an imminent danger to America.
Detect the similarity with Bushs tale in his State of
the Union message about the imminent threat of
Saddam Hussein seeking uranium from Niger?
Second, Intrepid managed to plant a false document
in Hitlers hands on December 3, 1941, purporting
to show Roosevelts secret plan to preemptively
strike Germany without a declaration of war by the
U.S. Congress. When Hitler suddenly declared war
against America on December 11, 1941, almost
everyone except Churchill, Roosevelt, and Intrepid
was surprised.
It boggles the mind, I know, to find out what
Roosevelt and Churchill did to get America into a
war

This is the story of how I went to see the Webfairy.
This is the story of the last witch. This is the
story of love of trains and the Old Ones, and how I
found the Wai Lana yoga show. This is the story of
the Kundalini serpent which lurks within.

By the alleged spring of 2002, my Kundalini had risen
up again, I had murmured their barbarous, unspeakable
names, and I had set out on a new route of fame.
Anonymity was a virtue I had lost. Anonymity had
allowed me to migrate from lifestyle to lifestyle,
place to place, publisher to publisher, the left hand
never knowing what the right was doing: some time in a
witchcraft coven here, a John Birch chapter there, a
document signed by Clinton in my honor (January 1990
was T. CASEY BRENNAN MONTH in the State of Arkansas),
a place in a free meal or a shelter or a Krishna
temple, my stories in early '70s issues of the Seventh
Day Adventist mag, LISTEN, or written up in the
July/August 1987 DEMOCRATIC JOURNALIST from Communist
Prague. In the mid-1970s, I had accepted periodic
invitations to stay at the Florida home of a witch I
knew as Artemis. The now legendary Herman Slater of
Brooklyn's Warlock Shop, had also accepted her
invitation, and Artemis frequently told me of his stay
with her. Slater had published my work in his occult
journal, EARTH RELIGION NEWS, before publishing his
own version of H.P. Lovecraft's NECRONOMICON, much
debated among enthusiasts as to whether it was a book
Lovecraft had made up or found. Slater never claimed
his version was the actual NECRONOMICON, only that he
had found essays from the same time period ascribed to
the creation of the NECRONOMICON, so that it was, in
Slater's view, what the NECRONOMICON might be like.
But the magical essays which made up Slater's version
of the NECRONOMICON developed their own mythology.
They had been stolen, they said, from a library by an
Old Catholic Archbishop, named Simon. Ironicly, I once
spent the better part of an afternoon walking around
Brooklyn with Archbishop Simon, having met him by
chance at the Warlock Shop, without a clue as to who
he really was or would do, or that he would abruptly
disappear from view after providing the ancient essays
for Slater's book, now sometimes called the
Simonomicon. Anyway, it was with Herman's friend
Artemis that I oftened stayed in Florida, alternating
that with brief flings in the inexpensive,
elevatorless, and often cockroach ridden hotels that
then lined that area of Miami Beach which overlooked
their free beach, Lummus Park. Later, the only Arab
mayor of Miami Beach, Alex Daoud, who would soon face
prison on questionable charges involving city
contracts, would write about me in these words: "City
of Miami Beach PROCLAMATION WHEREAS: T. CASEY BRENNAN
is sincerely concerned about the well-being of
children and has shown untiring efforts to inform
children of the ill effects of cigarette, pipe and
cigar smoking; and WHEREAS: In his effort to inform
children of these ill-effects, T. CASEY BRENNAN has
gone on a one-person crusade to prohibit the
illustration of smoking in children's comic books; and
WHEREAS: Because of this crusade, T. CASEY BRENNAN has
had a serious impact on the comic book industry
causing several of the most prominent comic strip
series and characters to forsake smoking; and,
WHEREAS: The City of Miami Beach applauds T. CASEY
BRENNAN for his dedication and effort in encouraging
the youth of today to make wise decisions concerning
their health. NOW THEREFORE, DO I, Alex Daoud, Mayor
of the City of Miami Beach, proclaim the month of

Daoud". In my own way, I loved Artemis too. She was
delicate, pretty, and very much the hobbyist kind of
witch. Or, well, maybe. I often wonder if she didn't
put a spell on me to make me forget the name of that
damned Processian. In the days before the Son of Sam
killings, she told me how one of the Church of the
Process cultists had sought her out. The Processian
had been a priest, she said, and his attributes
included that he served both Christ and Satan, and
generally eschewed sex. But, to my horror, she went on
to explain, after months of professed abstinence on
his part, he had sex with her in her hospital bed as
she was recovering from surgery. Generally, however,
the coven of Artemis consisted of articulate
suburbanites; hobbyists who haunted occult bookstores
and hobbyists. I began to theorize that the Processian
was calling Artemis, demanding my removal from the
coven. Perhaps he was. Or perhaps I had imagined it
all; a decade later, I would join a dissident Krishna
sect in Berkeley, then find the Temple set upon by

He's not running, but he's still raising a ruckus on the campaign trail -- specifically, the conservative commentator, the sometime candidate, and now the author Pat Buchanan. His new book, Where the Right Went Wrong: How Neoconservatives Subverted the Reagan Revolution and Hijacked the Bush Presidency.
Pat Buchanan, welcome back to "LATE EDITION."
PAT BUCHANAN, AUTHOR: Thank you, Wolf.
BLITZER: You're not running this time.
BUCHANAN: No, not yet.
(LAUGHTER)
BLITZER: But you sound in this book like you're really, really angry at the president.
BUCHANAN: Well, I'm not angry at the president, but I do believe the president, certainly in the course he took in Iraq, I believe that is not conservative at all.
We invaded a country that had not attacked us, did not threaten us, did not want war with us. We now know it didn't have weapons of mass destruction. We invaded and occupied. And I think we've radicalized the entire Arab world here, and we've created a situation where we've removed one devil, but seven more may come in his place.
BLITZER: So you don't think the American people -- that's your primary concern -- are better off with Saddam Hussein in jail and his two sons, Uday and Qusay, dead?
BUCHANAN: Oh, I think it's a good thing he's in jail and they're dead, but I'm not sure it's a good we got 140,000 soldiers fighting a guerrilla war in Iraq, and we've got imams from Morocco to Malaysia telling the people of the Islamic world to rise up and throw the Americans out.
BLITZER: They were telling their people that before the U.S. invaded Iraq.
BUCHANAN: Well, I disagree. I think the president of the United States and the United States' prestige, according to President Mubarak, have never been lower in the Islamic and Arab world.
I think, during Afghanistan, I think the president had the passive support even of Iran, even of Libya, even of Sudan...
BLITZER: Let me interrupt.
BUCHANAN: Sure.
BLITZER: Even before the U.S. invaded Iraq, look what they did on 9/11, they killed almost 3,000 Americans.
BUCHANAN: Well, look, I am 100 percent behind running down al Qaeda and killing them, but what the president has done by going into Iraq, I believe, is created a vast spawning pool for new recruits for Osama bin Laden.
I think Osama rejoiced at the fact that the Americans are going to invade the country that was the seat of the caliphate for 500 years, we're going to occupy an Arab country. That is exactly what they wanted.
BLITZER: You heard Condoleezza Rice say on this program just within the past hour, he's now in some cave, Ayman al-Zawahiri, his deputy, in some cave. They're not doing anything of any significant threat along the lines of what they used to be able to do.
BUCHANAN: Well, that's excellent. I mean, the president's focus on Afghanistan, the Taliban, al Qaeda was exactly right.
What I'm saying is, to me, Iraq was a total distraction, we went after a secular despot who had his country under control. That place could wind up as a haven for terrorists now, Wolf. Whatever you say, before we went in it was not that.
BLITZER: You write this in the book, in the book entitled "Where the Right Went Wrong": "Those of us who were called unpatriotic for opposing an invasion of Iraq and who warned we would inherit our own Lebanon of 25 million Iraqis were proven right."
Now, Condoleezza Rice will say there's a good chance there's going to be elections, this interim government in Iraq is moving along; yes, there are problems, but the final chapter of Iraq and the move toward democracy is by no means over.
BUCHANAN: Well, I hope she's right. But let me tell you, you've got 25 million people, and if you had a referendum, should the American occupiers get out, I would think that 90 percent would vote for the removal of the United States of America.
We don't know how it's going to come out. But you don't go to war, Wolf, to set up democracies. You go to war when you are threatened. Potentially, we have a problem in Iran, and potentially in North Korea. There was no threat from Saddam Hussein for the United States of America.
BLITZER: You keep calling those U.S. troops in Iraq occupiers. Zell Miller, the Democratic senator from Georgia who spoke at the Republican Convention, hates that. You heard his speech.
BUCHANAN: The American troops...
BLITZER: He says they're liberators.
BUCHANAN: They did. They went in and liberated the country from Saddam Hussein. But the perception almost of 100 percent of the Iraqi people is that they are occupiers. And the president of the United States has said himself, "I can understand how people do not like an oc

The secretary of George W. Bush's National Guard commander, coming forward
to describe memos supposedly written by her boss as "correct" but "not
real" (Dallas Morning News, 9/14/04), has deepened the mystery about the
disputed documents.

Marian Carr Knox is a compelling witness who provides substantive reasons
to doubt the authenticity of the memos bearing the signature of Lt. Col.
Jerry Killian-- forcing CBS News to run an interview with her (CBS Evening
News and 60 Minutes II, 9/15/04) that cast doubt on aspects of its
September 9 reporting on the Bush Guard story. At the same time, she
debunked several of the specific reasons other news outlets had given for
questioning the memos that were featured in that report.

For example, an ABC News report (Nightline, 9/9/04) questioning the
documents featured members of Killian's family charging that their
relative would not have written anything like these memos. Killian's widow
asserted that he "did not take copious notes" and "carried everything in
his mind," while his son said, "It was not the nature of my father to keep
private files like this, nor would it have been in his own interest to do
so."

Knox, however, told the New York Times (9/15/04) that "Mr. Killian had her
type memorandums recording the problems" with Bush's Guard service, and
that "he kept them in a private file under lock and key."

Like many skeptics of the documents, ABC also drew attention to
superscript characters that appear in the memos (Good Morning America,
9/10/04), stating that "forgery experts...say that this kind of
superscript was not available on a typewriter in 1972 or 1973." Yet Knox
(Dallas Morning News, 9/14/04) said that her old typewriter, while not
used to create the memos CBS featured, did "ha[ve] a key with the 'th'
superscript character that has been the focus of much debate in the CBS
memos."

Several other assertions made by document experts in an ABC (9/10/04)
online piece appear to be similarly ill-grounded. "The font used in the
memos is Times Roman, which was in use for printing but not in
typewriters," ABC reported. Actually, Times New Roman, as the font is
usually called, was adapted for the IBM Selectric (a brand of typewriter
Knox said she used-- Dallas Morning News, 9/14/04) by the font's original
designer, Stanley Morison, in the late 1960s (AIGA Design Forum, 3/10/04;
Media Matters, 9/10/04).

(Much has been made of the fact that the typeface apparently used in the
memos resembles the default typeface of the common Microsoft Word
word-processing program, which is Times New Roman. But a side-by-side
comparison of the characters in the document with MS Word characters shows
that they are obviously not identical; the numeral characters in
particular are quite distinct. See JuliusBlog, 9/10/04).

With a credible first-hand witness to Killian's correspondence coming
forward to cast doubt on the memos' authenticity, however, one has to
conclude that the skeptics of the documents may well be right, if for many
of the wrong reasons. (Some skeptics did raise the same questions
involving terminology used in the memos that were cited by Knox in her
comments.)

But while Knox greatly undermines the documentation of the CBS reporting,
it is important for critics to recognize that she corroborates the
substance of that reporting. "The information in them is correct," she
told the New York Times (9/15/04). "It looks like someone may have read

of the 1940s. Two issues of the 1940s Street & Smith
companion to Weird Tales and the Shadow, Love Story
magazine, carry my dad's stories, under the
authorship, Bill Brennan.

To serve the pulps was to serve the Old Ones; to serve
them, was to behold the Necronomicon, if only in
dreams. Herman Slater, owner of the old Warlock Shoppe
in Brooklyn, after he published Me, the blood-stained
legend, in the square-backed summer 1975 edition of
Earth Religion News (not to be confused with East West
Journal November 1984, page 13, which also carries a
write-up on me -- but that happened in Berkeley, when
they tried to kill Manson, so I must talk about that
later, much later), published his own fictitious
NECRONOMICON, what the Necronomicon "might be like".
No...

No, this is the story of Lynette Fromme, one of my
friends, a girl from Ann Arbor, met her while she was
being transferred from one prison to another. It was a
girl I lived with for a long time, she was never my
lover, she was just my landlady, but we got introduced
by the late Ernie Brown, of Ann Arbor's cable channel
9, host of numerous Ann Arbor cablevision shows, the
last being entitled Simply You. Ernie died of
pneumonia in December of 1996, at the age of 39, after
introducing me to the girl who had met Lynette Fromme.


But now the Conjurella Fever begins, now the story
comes forth, now the bleak memories of things that
cannot be...

No, this is the story of Eponymous Hawking, and the
Chandrashakar Limit, of dinosaurs that take back the
earth, of black holes and time warpsof the boy who
shot John Kennedy, who, still a boy in Berkeley,
witnesses the aftermath of an attempt on Manson's
life...

Eponymous Hawking fears the night. Eponymous Hawking
fears the long, dark night. His tongue has been cut
out, his mentor has proven himself an MK-ULTRA agent,
he has only one ally: his mentor's wife. He will
survive. Like the other MK-ULTRA experiments, like any
life Dr. E ever touched, he is made of steel. He will
survive. Like Howard Brennan, he lied. He knows.

In the known universe, there are about a hundred
million galaxies, each with about a hundred million
stars.

To my knowledge, there is no proof that ANY of these
stars has a planetary system, like our own sun, Sol.
This observation is extremely significant,,, vis-avis,
the Chandrashakar Limit. The Chandrashakar Limit
determines which stars have sufficient mass to
collapse into that paradox of physics, the black hole.
Beneath the Chandrashakar Limit, a star, upon
expiring, collapses into something at least comparable
to ordinary matter, a White Dwarf, at the extreme. A
White Dwarf is still matter which obeys the ordinary
laws of physics, unly under extreme density.

Above the Chandrashakar Limit, the star collapses into
a black hole. A black hole is a virtually infinitely
compact mass of time-space, drawing adjacent
time-space into its core. The event horizon of a black
hole prevents the entire universe from falling into
such a collapsed star. The event horizon is a kind of
shell surrounding a black hole. Yet, worm holes escape
from a black hole, sending a warping effect to all
time-space within their reach. A planet falling into a
black hole can reverse in time, can enter parallell
worlds, and it's own distant past.

The Abominations. Where man rules now, they ruled
before, where man rules now, they shall rule again.
Man's rule upon the earth has been but a whisper, a
heartbeat, that "fleeting moment" of Goethe's Faust,
one brief moment compared to endless ages when the
dinosaurs ruled, when no mammal walked, when serpents
ruled, masked and mystical, cowled and crimson, cold
and dark, of the night, of the night...

The Conjurella dream is so difficult to tell.

In 1975, my career as an award-winning comic book
writer for the Warren magazines, Creepy, Eerie, and
Vampirella (Marilyn Manson has a tatoo of Uncle Creepy
on his arm), was virtually totalled. I was reduced to
writing essays claiming to be the reincarnation of
Roaring Twenties satanist, Aleister Crowley, as
published in such magazines as Llewellyn's GNOSTICA
(#30, 31? Ciurca 1977), Earth Religion News, and a
mid-1970s issue of the British zine Insight, from
Crowleyan Deric R. James.

This is the story of Conjurella Con II. No, the blood
has dried now; the Conjurella memories are no more.
Gone the voices: "Lift him up!", gone the memory, gone
the blood.

It is a decade beyond 1963 now: ten years are passing.
No longer Dallas, but Toronto. David Ferrie is dead.
We are free.

No, this is the story of Cosmicon II, the last weekend
of January, 1973, a comic book convention held at
Winters College, part of York University in Toronto,
an extravaganza that would include future Tonight Show
guest host, P. J. O'Rourke, Ted Nugent, the first
computer game installed in North America (in the
basement of Winters), and, at the last moment, the
blood-stained legend, T. Casey Brennan

No, this is the story of women named A, of abbreviated
names, of Vampirella, of the Absinthe Cafe, of secrets
and legends and dried blood.

This is Cosmicon II. The sixties that spilled the
blood of John Kenedy were over. A memory. A blurred
vision of high school years, followed by the early
sales of fiction stories by T. Casey Brennan...was the
first a cover-featured story in the Major
Magazines/Candar Men's Group men's magazine Charger,
Feb. 1968? (they left out the "T" on my name on the
cover), or was it "Family Curse" in Jim Warren's Eerie
magazine, 1969?

Who knows? This is 1973. David Ferrie is dead; Dallas
is an aborted memory, a dream that couldn't be.

But Cosmicon II will be the scener of another murder,
the murder of the mind of the greatest comic book
publisher that ever lived, Jim Warren. A quarter
century later, a zine called Hungry Freaks would
publish Jim's accouint of a condition which seemed to
attack his central nervous sysytem, a condition which
left him helpless as his company was led to ruin, and
a court-ordered Chapter VI bankruptcy.

Dr. E is close behind; I can feel his cold presence.
Jim Warren has taken to publishing a great many of my
stories. Dr. E is displeased. I am so unsure of
myself; the sudden conversion from being a shy country
boy with few friends and a secret life, to an
overnight celebrity for the award and award
nominations I received for "On the Wings of a Bird",
drawn by the late Jerry Grandeneeti, in Creepy #36,
November 1970 issue, all at the New York Comic Art
Convention at the Statler Hilton in July of 1971. I
stepped off the stage at the awards presentations,
with the Ray Bradbury Cup of Warren's own Frazetta
Awards, and nominations for both the Comic Art Fan and
Shazam Academy of Comic Book Arts awards.

Eerie #38 carried pictures of me receiving that trophy
in 1972; I think there are copies of that issue
floating around Cosmicon II. Flash-bulbs popped, fan
journalists stormed me with tape recorders, mikes, and
questions, and a new era was born in my life. Somehow,
I imagined that, in and amongst the sad, melodramatic
artistry I had perfected -- Warren's letter columns
referred to "the classic T. Casey Brennan allegory",
and compared me to Dali and Rod Serling -- I could
drop little hints and clues of those secrets I carried
so well.

One of my Warren stories began with a man who
resembled me leaning out the window with a rifle,
thinking "Something's going to happen soon...", but I
didn't know then, not all the time, couldn't bear the
Conjurella memory yet.

Some months earlier, I had written "shadow of Dracula"
for Warren's Vampirella comic book; it was recently
reprinted by Harris Comics, who bought Jim's
properties at auction after a court-ordered
bankruptcy, as Vampirella of Drakulon #3, in May 1996.
It was about the Van Helsings from the Bram Stoker
classic, Dracula, it's back in 1897, and they're
attempting to create a blood serum to cure vampirism.
Comic book writers often like to emphasize certain
words in bold-face, and when I showed Daddy, I had
emphasized the words "The Project" on the manuscript,
in a reference to this anti-vampirism nonsense.

Daddy points at the words "The Project", and says:
"You can't do that."

I say: "Why not?" Then I stare in bewilderment, but
inside, that bewilderment is a lie.

Deep within, the Conjurella memory lurks; deep within,
the truth that cannot be: I am only a boy, shy, frail,
sensitive, artistic, but it was my hand that pulled
the trigger. Kidnapped, drugged, tormented, injected:
I am the true cold, dark legend, Lee was innocent. I
killed the President. I shot John Kennedy.

Daddy growls the name of Dr. E.

Closer comes the Conjurella memory; Daddy is right, I
know, but I don't know how, can't remember how Dr. E
could loom forth from the 1950s to forbid me to write
something in a comic book in the 1970s.

In one world, The Project is the Port Hope office of
MK-ULTRA, a hellish reality of forced drug and
hypnosis experiments on children, that will lead to
the asassination of the President.

Conjurella

Proposed introduction to Castle Mirage, by my late
mother, Alice Brennan, published June 1971 by Belmont
Books, carrying the code Belmont B75-2133, and now
offered for reprinting by the author's son, and by
Singer Media Corporation.




This is the story of little mice. David Ferrie's mice.
No, this is the story of Conjurella, and her daughter,
Glinda; they were both there when I first met David
Ferrie in Ohio, at the Old covered Bridge; so were
Mama and Daddy and Uncle Johnny. Everyone is dead now,
except me, and, I think, Glinda, so there is no one to
ask. But I think it must have been the summer of 1953.
I started school in September of 1953 at Swamp School
on Bricker Road in Emmett, Michigan; a one-room school
on a gravel road which boasted my late mother as the
CEO of its Board; it was sometime around then that the
meeting at the Old Covered Bridge took place.

It looked something like a covered wagon, over a small
stream through a narrow road cutting through fields
and brush that stretched on forever. This was 1953.
The only war we might have lost had been over for less
than a decade. Oh-ess-ess was a whisper that lingered
in the air; a song that was over, yet the melody
haunted us. War measures meant many things to those
caught in the web of that whisper, oh-ess-ess, so
softly spoken, a love song, a lullaby, a death threat.
I don't remember, but I think that whisper was in the
air when we first met David Ferrie. Uncle Johnny
helped arrange it; Uncle Johnny said he was a finder.
Daddy and Uncle Johnny park the car right on the
bridge, and get out "to take a walk" -- there is
something on the car radio, or maybe Daddy and Uncle
Johnny tell us, about "two escaped convicts" believed
loose in that area. Mama and Conjurella get in the
front seat. Glinda and I are in the back seat. Has
MK-ULTRA begun yet? They must have given me some of
the amnesiac hypnotic drug that Dr. E, the hypnotist
whose work formed the basis for Mama's obsession with
hypnosis as noted in Castle Mirage, would later fore
on me in a more conventional setting. Glinda is my
age, she is five. she sees the Perfect soldier, David
Ferrie, standing guard. Everyone has told me: "Don't
see that soldier," but Glinda says, "He Sees that
soldier."

David Ferrie uses his O.S.S. code name, Perfect
Soldier. I don't remember how I know that. He assumes
battle stances, brandishes his rifle, and threatens
the children with rape. but it is Conjurella who is
raped, by the "escaped convicts" who inevitably appear
as David Ferrie looks on. Glinda and I are spared,
and, I think, so is Mama. But I was too still in that
back seat throughout the attack, too oblivious to what
was happening - they had used something akin to Dr.
E's "red lollipops", a favorite drug ploy of the
MK-ULTRA hypnotist who would some day send the Perfect
Soldier on a mission to kill John Kennedy.

I have the Brass Monkey, I think Uncle Johnny gave it
to me. I don't know if it had anything to do with the
OSS. It's not brass all the way through, and it says
"Germany" on the bottom, not "Deutchlann" - Germany.

David Ferrie is hard to remember.

I said I went to Swamp School, that was for my first
and second grades. In the third grade, I started
parochial school, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish
School, also in Emmett. That was in September of 1955.
I attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel for my third,
fourth, fidth, and sixth grades. Daddy, who had always
had intermittent violent fits, accusing my mother of
an extra-marital affair (and me, of being the
offspring of a local handyman from Texas, Frank
Tilton) was on his best behavior through that period.
He had been elected, or appointed, I forget which, to
a position on the St. Clair County Board of Education,
to match my mother's, on the Swamp Board. I am trying
hard to be a Catholic religious sissy, worrying about
mortal sin, telling me priest in confession about my
Brigitte Bardot pin-ups, and studying prayerbooks. But
in the summer of 1959, after my sixth-grade year,
Daddy got in trouble. Getting out of it involved using
his family "in hypnotic experiments".

That was how we met Dr. E. And how we all met David
Ferrie again. Keep going north on M-19, and you will
reach Yale, Michigan, a tiny town with its own tiny
airport. David Ferrie, Who is calling himself David
Ferris by then, flew into the Yale airport in he
pre-dawn hours to meet with my Dad, and follow behind
us in a car, as we drove farther north, to Hopeville,
to meet the hypnotist, Dr. E. There was no doubt about
it; we were in custody.

My Dad is introduced, and he extends his hand to David
Ferrie/Ferris and says "I attended to Ferris Institute
in Big Rapids..." He stresses the word Ferris; he
knows he is in trouble and he is looking for something
that will give him an edge conversationally. but there
is to be no conversation. A

penalties of a year in prison and a $10,000 fine on an adult if a juvenile steals a 
firearm from him, and then merely displays it in a public place.9

  FACT: Kerry has voted to force many small firearms dealers out of business, 
which would have impacted both the availability and price of guns, particularly in 
rural areas.10



FACT: Kerry has voted 11 times to force law-abiding citizens to wait to exercise their 
Second Amendment rights. He voted to keep the federal waiting period after the 
National Instant Check System was in place.11

FACT: Kerry voted twice to eliminate the Civilian Marksmanship Program.12

FACT: Kerry wants to silence gun owners voice. When NRA sought the same exemption 
from campaign finance rules that news organizations have, Kerry called that effort 
hijacking Americas airwaves.13

FACT: Kerry commended the Million Mom March for their march on Washington that 
included calls for gun owner licensing, gun registration and other restrictions on 
law-abiding gun owners.14

FACT: Kerry twice supported legislation that would have mandated the inclusion of 
trigger locks with any handgun sale, forcing individual gun buyers to purchase 
products they did not necessarily want or need.15

FACT: If elected president, Kerry will pack the U.S. Supreme Court with Dianne 
Feinstein/Chuck Schumer/Ted Kennedy-selected anti-gun activists who believe you have 
no right to own any firearm.

FACT: Senator John Kerry has a 100% voting record with the Brady Campaign (formerly 
Handgun Control Inc.), a national gun-ban group.

Every time I see the word "connections" I cringe. There's no historical
perspective to connections and they are essentially without meaning. The
author of one recent conspiracy book showed you can connect anybody to
anybody without much effort.
