But the enemy I see wears a cloak of decency,All non-believers
and men stealers talkin' in the name of religionAnd there's a slow,
slow train comin' up around the bend.
  – Bob Dylan, "Slow Train Coming," 1979
I guess it shouldn't surprise me.
I guess I should have seen this coming.
Still, what I am about to tell you illustrates remarkably well just how
low our culture has plummeted, just how completely our institutions have
been subverted, just how evil men's hearts are and just how blind we as a
society have become to the depravity that surrounds us.

Next month, the American Academy of
  Religion will hold its annual
  meeting in San Antonio, Texas.
At this meeting of the national umbrella organization for professors of
religion, church historians, theologians, ethicists and so-called scholars
in world religions, sadomasochism, transvestism and polyamory will be
promoted as a way to better communicate with God.
I was alerted to this outrage by a courageous whistleblower who travels
in such circles – Robert Gagnon, Ph.D. and
associate professor of New Testament at Pittsburgh Theological
  Seminary.
As he put it: "Here the slippery slope is greased by the very persons
who previously denied even the existence of such a slope."
The Gay Men's Issues in Religion Group within the AAR has set for its
theme for the program: "Power and Submission, Pain and Pleasure: The
Religious Dynamics of Sadomasochism." It also has another session on the
program, half of which is devoted to transgenderism.
Last year, Gagnon says, the group featured a session on the topic:
"Love Is a Many Splendored Thing: Varied Views on Polyamory." (Don't
bother looking up that last word in the dictionary. It's not there yet. It
means having sexual relations with more than one partner at a time.)
About the "Power and Submission" topic, the program explains:

Sadomasochistic or bondage/dominance practice (sometimes also
referred to as "leather sexuality") ... offers a particularly potent
location for reflecting on gay men's issues in religion.

One of the papers presented by Justin Tanis of the Metropolitan
Community Church, a homosexual "denomination," if you will, is titled
"Ecstatic Communion: The Spiritual Dimensions of Leathersexuality."
"This paper will ... look briefly at the ways in which leather is a
foundation for personal and spiritual identity formation, creating a lens
through which the rest of life is viewed," explains Tanis. "All of this
based within the framework of a belief in the rights of individuals to
erotic self-determination with other consenting adults, rather than
apologetics for those practices and lives."
It gets worse – and more bizarre.
Another paper, by Thomas vs. Peterson of Alfred University (though I
have to wonder whether it's not really Alfred E. Newman University),
focuses on "S/M Rituals in Gay Men's Leather Communities: Initiation,
  Power Exchange and Subversion."
"This paper uses S/M rituals within the gay men's leather community to
explore how ritual may subvert cultural icons of violence by eroticizing
power," the scholar explains. "Those who exercise power and acquiesce to
it in leather rituals meet as respected equals and negotiate the
limitations of power according to mutual desires."
Translation: Violence is OK when it is eroticized in a relationship of
"respected equals" in which each partner can take turns victimizing the
  other in ritual harm.
Then there is the contribution to spiritual understanding by Chicago
Theological Seminary's Ken Stone: "You Seduced Me, You Overpowered Me, and
You Prevailed: Religious Experience and Homoerotic Sadomasochism in
  Jeremiah."
"(Jeremiah 20:7-18) can be construed more usually as a kind of ritual
S/M encounter between the male deity Yahweh and his male devotee," writes
  Stone, who

Fortunate Son is an important book.

In "Investigation of a Suicide: The Diaries" Hicks writes that Hatfield's
mother-in-law told another journalist that the official story about Hatfield's death
was false. (This is an important matter considering that Hicks himself acknowledged,
two months prior to the alleged suicide, that Hatfield's life had been threatened.)

He writes,

sanderhicks.com/articles/hatfield1.html

"So if the Bentonville file exists then the mother-in-law's credibility is in serious
trouble. If there's an arrest warrant for Jim, and none for George Burt, someone is
wrong, and it's not the cops. I already suspect the mother-in-law is not credible."

This article ends without resolving or further addressing ANY of these points. More
than that, it ends with,

"Although this investigation has to conclude that Hatfield most likely committed
suicide alone... "

Why does it have to? What is that based on?

In addition, Hicks reveals an obvious distaste for Hatfield in this piece. His
characterizations are extremely unflattering.

Hatfield deserved better.

Look at how Hicks ended his Vreeland promo piece. Two of his claims to fame were, "I
have appeared on "60 Minutes" and "Court TV" regarding my company's publication of
controversial George W. Bush biography Fortunate Son."

I'm grateful to Hatfield for the book. Hicks got on national TV over it. I hope he's
grateful to Hatfield too.

Re: Fair enough - I haven't found any in-depth pieces on the alleged suicide.

Hatfield's wife Nancy told Linda Starr of "Bush Watch" (1) that "there is absolutely
no question that Jim took his own life." But considering the kind of enemies Jim took
on, and the death threats he received (plus the claims of his mother-in-law to Bev
Conover, according to Hicks) one cannot be faulted for taking the official story with
a grain of salt.

Maybe Hicks' story could have cleared it up once and for all, but it didn't.

This is how Hatfield was described by two people who knew him:

Linda Starr:

"Jim Hatfield was witty, funny, brilliant, articulate, a very good writer and was a
great friend to me. I will miss Jim, his many talents, his humor, his passion, his
work and a warm light has gone out of my life forever. The world will be a much
colder, darker place without Jim in it and we have lost a great fighter in the cause
to expose the truth about GWB. (2)

Bev Conover:

"I got to know Jim fairly well over the past few years. I knew him to be a gentle and
sensitive man whose life, career and family were ruined because he told the truth
about George W. Bush.' (3)

-

Sander Hicks had some complimentary things to say about Jim but in my view they were
STRONGLY overshadowed by statements like these (4):

" ... a grasping after the bright surface of sure success and societyâs approval,
while on the inside there lives a truth no one knows until too late: doubt, debt,
insecurity, alcoholism, and failure."

"But Jim was nothing but one pitiful character: $125 thousand in debt but still making
payments on a BMW."

"These days, I'm between my stubborn initial defensive posture about Jim and realizing
that he was a scam artist, and not a good one."

--

I was certainly left with the impression that Hicks found Hatfield distasteful, which
in turn left a bitter taste in my mouth about Hicks.

Then Hicks pops up here with that Vreeland promo and with rude comments about posters
here at this forum . and then that pitiful interview...

"The great illusion," The Economist calls it.

There is nothing more flattering, dear reader, to see the
mainstream media pick up insights that we presented to you
over a year ago. But it is worrying, too. Once an idea
reaches the mass media, it is usually already worn out.

But The Economist is not exactly USA TODAY... and the
notion that America's great wealth is largely an "illusion"
still has the power to shock. When Americans themselves
figure it out, they will surely get a jolt.

"President George Bush has boasted that America is enjoying
its highest rate of wealth creation for decades," says The
Economist. "The snag is that some of the 'wealth' being
built up by households is phony."

We've been saying the same thing for many months.

"America's nonfarm payrolls have risen by only 0.5% since
the trough of the recession in November 2001, the weakest
recovery on record," continues the article in this week's
Economist. "Private-sector wages and salaries have risen by
only 2.8% in real terms, compared with an average gain of
10.6% in the six pervious recoveries. Yet despite this,
consumer spending over the same period has surged by 9%.
Wages and salaries in America as a proportion of GDP are
currently at their lowest level for decades, yet consumer
spending relative to GDP is at a record high."

Americans are increasing spending more than three times
faster than their incomes rise. This does not sound like a
way to get rich.

How do they do it? How are they able to spend more than
they make? Credit, of course... and the whole mad system of
international finance in the Great Dollar Era. While
Americans borrow and spend, Asians make and save. Then the
canny Asians lend back their profits in what has become the
largest vendor-financing scheme in history. They buy U.S.
Treasury bonds, thus keeping lending rates low and asset
prices - particularly housing - high. The poor
lumpenhouseholder sees his hovel rise in price and thinks
he has won the lottery. Giddy with joy, he rushes out to
buy more Chinese-made products at everyday low prices.

In America, the average house has gone up 40% in real terms
since 1995. In other Anglo-Saxon countries, the increase
has been even greater: 120% in Britain and 80% in
Australia. Americans have come to expect house price
increases far beyond what the market is likely to give
them. A recent survey by Shiller and Case found average
annual expectations of 12-16% - th

a marijuana legalization bill sponsored by Senator Nelson Avila.

But often, when Power throws up one fence, it causes change agents to seek

Vioxx Unsafe: So
What About Similar Drugs?
Editorial: Other Drugs in Vioxx
Class Must Prove Heart Safety

By Daniel DeNoonWebMD Medical
  News
Reviewed By Michael Smith, MDon Thursday, October 07, 2004

Oct. 7, 2004 -- Now that we know Vioxx wasn't safe, can we trust its sister
drugs, Bextra and Celebrex? No, argues a New England Journal of
Medicine (NEJM) editorial.
Vioxx, like Bextra and Celebrex (and two more drugs not approved in the U.S.)
are members of a family called Cox-2 selective inhibitors. All fight pain and
inflammation by blocking a molecule called Cox-2.
Blocking Cox-2 also predisposes people to heart attacks, according to a
five-year-old theory by Garret FitzGerald, MD, director of the Institute for
Translational Medicine and Therapeutics at the University of Pennsylvania in
Philadelphia.
"Now, with Vioxx, we see the manifestation of a risk entirely consistent with
precisely the mechanism we proposed," FitzGerald tells WebMD. "That puts the
burden of proving safety on the manufacturers of these [other] drugs."
Vioxx: 160,000 Heart Attacks and Strokes
This call for safety studies has a familiar ring to it. In August 2001, Eric
J. Topol, MD, chairman of the Cleveland Clinic cardiology department, was
troubled by heart-safety data in Vioxx clinical trials. He called on the FDA to
demand specially designed heart-safety studies. That never happened. Instead,
three years later, a study looking at whether Vioxx could prevent colon polyps
found the drug posed an unacceptably high heart risk.
Ten million people have taken Vioxx, partly due to an aggressive
direct-to-consumer advertising campaign. Topol calculates that 160,000 of these
patients had a Vioxx-caused heart attack or stroke.
"I believe that there should be a full Congressional review of this case,"
Topol writes in an NEJM editorial. "The senior executives at Merck and
the leadership at the FDA share responsibility for not having taken appropriate
action and not recognizing that they are accountable for the public health."
In a written statement, Merck says that it worked hard to assess Vioxx
safety.
"Dr. Topol neglects to mention the fact that Merck undertook three separate
prospective, randomized clinical studies designed, collectively, to assess the
cardiovascular safety of Vioxx versus placebo," the statement says. "It was
precisely one of those studies, the APPROVe trial, in which there was an
increased relative risk for confirmed cardiovascular events, such as heart
attack and stroke, beginning after 18 months of treatment in the patients taking
Vioxx compared to those taking placebo."
However, another editorial -- this one by the editors of The Lancet
-- notes that heart safety was not the focus of these trials.
"It is unlikely that APPROVe was designed and executed with a general safety
assessment as its primary goal," the Lancet editorial argues.
Merck notes that its trials included people both with and without risk
factors for heart disease and stroke. But in a Lancet editorial
published last August, Topol says clinical trials of Cox-2 inhibitors regularly
leave out anyone with known, pre-existing heart disease.
Vioxx Prompts Desire for Proof
FitzGerald admits that the warning signs of heart risk were much stronger for
Vioxx than for other Cox-2 drugs. But given the known risk of Vioxx, he says the
time has passed for studies of why these drugs might or might not be risky. The
time has come for studies proving the drugs are safe.
"We know the [Vioxx] risk exists," FitzGerald says. "This shifts the burden
of proving absence of risk to those who say it is a Cox-2-independent effect of
Vioxx. They now have to show why it doesn't apply to their drugs."
Pfizer, which makes both Bextra and Celebrex, did not respond to telephone
messages left by WebMD. However, Pfizer did issue a news release on Oct. 1.
"Each Cox-2 inhibitor has a distinct chemical structure and we would not
expect them to have the same side effect profile," Joe Feczko, MD, Pfizer
president of worldwide development, says in the news release. "The data we've
accumulated over time demonstrate that Celebrex does not increase the risk of
serious cardiovascular events in patients with arthritis and pain, even at
higher-than-recommended doses."
FitzGerald, however, wants to see proof.
"What we need is proof of the pudding now," he says. "There is an old
Scottish legal term, called 'not proven.' The other members of the Cox-2 class
are not proven innocent and are not proven guilty. But they are not proven
safe."
Given the known dangers of Vioxx, the FDA says it's keeping a wary eye on
Celebrex, Bextra, and newer Cox-2 drugs.
"We will be evaluating with the other sponsors of approved drugs what
long-term trials they have under way to assess what a

Saudi Entrepeneur Adnan Khashoggi
Linked to 911 Terrorists

PART V: TAPED CONVERSATIONS &
A SHOWER OF GOLD FOR AMERICA

By Alex Constantine

After the nightmare of Black Tuesday, a tape recording of a private
conference at the Hotel Royale Monceau in Paris, France found its way to
Observer reporter Greg Palast. The topic of this meeting of minds was
protection money, as in how much of it to give bin Laden to assure that no
messy al Qaeda bombs exploded in Saudi Arabia. This cabal was in general
agreement that their friend Osama had done quite well promoting Wahhabism in
the Middle East. They were very complimentary.

Some of the usual suspects attended this session:

Ý Prince Turki al-Faisal.
Ý Khalid bin Mahfouz.
Ý Saudi Sheikh Abdullah Bakhsh (bailed W. and
   his oil company from bankruptcy).
Ý Adnan Khashoggi.1

(The 9/11 families have mentioned a French intelligence report of the
meeting in a lawsuit filed against Saudi royals, according to the
Minneapolis Star-Tribune on August 16, 2002.)

Reverse the tape, now. More wretched voices drift upward from the charred
recesses of 911 history...

On April 4, 1993, the Las Vegas Sun revealed that it had obtained a tape
recording of its own, this one from an unnamed intelligence source. On the
tape, Middle Eastern gold traders toyed with the notion of killing President
Bill Clinton.3

As if this little attention-getter wasn¹t enough, the Arab businessmen went
on to discuss options for dealing with widow Imelda Marcos and her son, then
exiled in Hawaii. From the balmy islands, Imelda Marcos was heaving billions
of dollars in gold on the black market, frantically, before the remains of
their tin dictatorship was seized by the courts.

The sudden infusion of Philippine gold on the world market threatened to
depress the already-sagging price of the metal. This cabal settled on a
drastic solution - a strategic terrorist act staged to drive up the price of
gold.

Skull And Bones: George W. Bush And John Kerry's Secret Society

By RD Larson
Sept. 10, 2004

Ever think you know about somebody? I mean a famous political person? Me, too. Imagine my surprise to find out that George W. Bush (and his father) belonged to a secret society called The Skull and Bones. Pretty fun interesting stuff. I got a big charge out of the initiation where the âcandidatesâ lie in an open coffin and recite their previous carnal experience. Funny college kid stuff. But then the kids are seniors and thereâs been a lot of money generated from this group. The members list sounds like a money whoâs who.

Skull And Bones

And MORE

Iâm going to look up John Kerry next.

CNN and also FOX keeps saying we donât watch news or shows we disagree with. Well, I disagree with them. I watch and read everything. How else can we be informed?

Keep tuned to my next comments on Kerry.

Next, no matter how you personally feel about Iraq, we all grieve and miss and love our lost soldiers. Why donât we show up on September 11th at 7 oâclock with a lit candle at our nearest Post Office? A message to those who have gone from this world? We could honor those that died on September 11th and on the Cole and in the barracks as well.

The cat got stung by a yellowjacket. I'm the nurse around here.

Poor old cat.

At the university he called "the source of our political problems," independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader spoke about what he deemed to be the shortcomings of the two major presidential candidates who graduated from Yale.

Concluding a tour of several Ivy League universities, Nader addressed an audience of Yalies and New Haven residents that nearly filled Battell Chapel Wednesday evening. In his speech, Nader criticized the two-party system he said allows corporations to dominate the electoral process and leads voters to choose the "least worst" candidate.

"The two parties now are not competing," Nader said. "Thirty years ago, if one party was bad, you could say, 'Well, we work with the Democratic party.' Now it's two parties, one corporate head, different makeup."

Earlier in the evening, Nader addressed several media crews and a small gathering of students in front of the tomb of Skull and Bones. Nader read a statement expressing concern about the "unprecedented situation" in which both major presidential candidates were sworn into the same secret society.

In his speech, Nader focused on the similarities between the two major candidates. For example, he said Kerry's and Bush's views had converged on the war on Iraq so that "a vote for Kerry is now a vote for war."

Nader also criticized his opponents for being unduly influenced by corporate contributions. He argued that corporations should not be allowed to donate money to political campaigns because they are not voters.

Though some students in attendance said they agreed with Nader's ideas, they expressed concern that his campaign will win votes that would otherwise be cast for Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry '66 on Nov. 2.

"All his points are very intelligent, and I share his views on a lot of positions, but since he has no chance of winning, I just feel like my vote would be wasted," Josh Odsess-Rubin '08 said.

Nader defended the goals of his campaign and stressed the historical importance of third parties in generating reform.

"If you don't make demands on [Kerry], he doesn't get any better," Nader said. "If he doesn't get any better, he doesn't get votes."

In an interview after his speech, Nader said it was important to speak at universities because many students are voting for Kerry simply as an alternative to President George W. Bush '68.

"Universities are a den of 'anybody but Bush, leave Kerry alone, make no demands on him,'" Nader said. "That's a brain-closer. Give me anybody who says 'anybody but Bush,' and they're incapable of talking about any other strategies, variables, nothing."

A small contingent of students assisted the Nader campaign in organizing the event and are currently building a campus chapter to support him. The students said they appreciated the candidate's willingness to address issues they felt were being ignored by the major parties.

"I really admire his attitude to campaigning," said Edward Dunar '08, the campus coordinator for the Nader campaign. "His attitude is one of challenging citizens. The government has to let citizens contribute meaningfully."

Roughly 15 Kerry supporters assembled outside Battell Chapel on Elm Street to protest during the speech. With signs like "Nader + Camejo = 4 more years," they said the position that Nader's campaign jeopardized its own ideals.

"It's not that we don't support Nader's right to express his views, but we believe that his candidacy endangers Kerry's campaign in some states," protester Caitlin Clarke '07 said. "So we came to express our respect for his views and our belief that his agenda would be better served by dropping out of the race."

Undeterred by the protesters, Nader told the News that running for office is a basic _expression_ of constitutional rights.

"One of the things we're trying to do is to raise the civil liberties issues to inside the electoral arena so we can combat what I can only call political bigotry," Nader said. "It really is political bigotry when people say, 'Do not run.' When they're saying, 'Do not run,' they're saying, 'Do not speak, do not petition, do not assemble.'"

Nader said the goal of his campaign was to ultimately provide more choice for voters.

"We're all prisoners of a 200-year-old, winner-take-all two-party system," Nader said. "I believe that if you work hard as a citizen, you can improve your country -- We're trying to lay the groundwork after Nov. 2 so someday we can have a real three-party race."

Bush Twin Chose Skin Over Skull And Bones
October 7, 2004
By KIM MARTINEAU, Courant Staff Writer

NEW HAVEN -- Her dad was Skull and Bones. So was her grandfather and great-grandfather. By not joining Yale's secret society, Barbara Bush broke with that tradition.

But she embraced another - the naked party.

Yale's naked parties have been described as an intellectual salon without the clothes. Incoming freshmen hear about the ritual long before setting foot on campus.

The creme de la creme of naked parties is the springtime event held by the Pundits, a society synonymous with streaking through the library during finals. This one is invitation only for about 40 to 50 "A-list" guests. A bouncer checks names at the door.

In the spring of 2002, Barbara Bush, then a sophomore, arrived at a house on Crown Street for the fun, according to at least two people who saw her there. Not known: the whereabouts of her Secret Service protection.

Like everyone else at the party, sources say, she left her inhibitions at the door and her clothes in a changing room, then mingled with the other guests over wine, cheese and pool.

Naked parties are not orgies, not even close, despite their name, say those who attend. Stripped of clothing and other status markers, students are rendered equal. There's more eye contact, less small talk. Everyone's vulnerable.

"At most clothed parties, it's more overt that people are hitting on each other - naked parties are actually less sexual," one student was quoted as saying in a 1999 Yale Daily News story titled, "Nude Haven."

In 2002, rumors about Barbara in the buff ran rampant on campus. A year later, porn king Larry Flynt caught wind of it and reportedly offered a million bucks for film of the presidential twin, according to a blurb in The New York Post. But nothing materialized. In fact, aside from a vague reference in a student newspaper, nothing more about Bush's party appearance surfaced until police were deep into their investigation of a sexual assault on another guest who had left the party.

Rumpus, an off-color tabloid produced by Yale students, alluded to the soiree in a May 2002 column titled, "Rumpus Rumpus: Rumors, Truths We Couldn't Prove and Other Allegations."

"If you are a daughter of a very important person and shun media exposure, why would you expose your whole self at a naked party this spring?" the editors wondered. "Secret exhibitionist tendencies? Following in the family tradition of doing stupid [expletive] at college that will come back to haunt you later? Or just showing off that reportedly blissfully cellulite-free booty?"

A call to the White House seeking comment from Barbara Bush was referred to the office of her mother, first lady Laura Bush, which declined to comment this week.

Courant Staff Writers Joseph A. O'Brien, Gregory Seay and Arielle Becker-Levin contributed to this story.

[CTRL] Issue of the Week: Presidential debates - Ask about Skull and Bones

Issue of the Week: Presidential debates

This Friday, the second presidential debate will be held at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. Unlike the first debate, a town-hall format will be implemented with members of the audience asking questions. Given this valuable opportunity to personally question the candidates, what issues should the audience bring up?

Keep jobs in America

Even before the beginning of the first debate, many of us were already tired of the hackneyed arguments that the candidates have batted around all summer. After all, how many more times does Senator John Kerry need to mention his three Purple Hearts or George Bush need to talk how Saddam Hussein has been brought to justice?

But instead of focusing on non-issues during the debates, it would be nice, for once, for the candidates to focus on the issues that are important to Americans - like jobs and outsourcing.

When it appears that jobs are continually flowing overseas to the detriment of Americans, of course outsourcing will be foremost on most of our minds. We want jobs and we want them now. When we leave the university, we want to know that we have a job waiting for us.

Hearing that candidates want to keep American jobs here is great and all, but it would be greater for them to propose a feasible solution to keeping jobs in America. Hopefully they can show some innovation. Yes, you can monetarily reward companies for keeping jobs in the country and you can reduce taxes but that can only do so much.

And where is the discussion about the benefits of outsourcing, like a more efficient assignment of human capital, more consumer choice and more inexpensive products?

If the candidates desire to score points with the constituents, an honest debate over their proposed policies on outsourcing will be imperative to winning us over.

Environment should not be ignored

In light of Kerry and Bush fighting over five votes from swing state Nevada through the issue of Yucca Mountain, I think it's time environmental issues are brought to the stage.

Located just 90 miles outside of Las Vegas, Yucca Mountain entered the political arena in 2002 as Bush proposed it be a nuclear waste depository for decades-old radioactive leftovers from bomb testing.

Environmental issues lately are a mounting weakness for the Republican Party because of Bush's reputation for manipulating science and favoring big business. Knowing this, Democrats jumped all over the Yucca Mountain controversy in hopes they would grab Nevada and its five electoral votes. Candidates regard issues like the environment purely for political strategy.

The clear problem in the election today is that environmental issues do matter. They should be a at the forefront of their campaigns because it's unacceptable that 45 percent of our lakes are unsafe for swimming or fishing, or that Bush favors oil exploration in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, or that 80 percent of all city pollution comes from automobiles.

All too often, candidates only promote the issues that have political value. For the next presidential debate, the environment needs to be the topic of discussion because it's an emerging problem in our society that must not be ignored or exploited for votes.

Bush, Kerry: Talk to the students, please

Presidential debates are quite possibly the most annoying pieces of entertainment to watch. Yes, even more annoying than "Garfield: The Movie." One day, presidential debates will appeal to general audiences by having each candidate covered in egg yolk every time he/she stutters or makes a funny face. But until those days, all intelligent voters know they must bite the pillow and watch the debates in order to receive a wholesome view of each candidate's agenda.

The next presidential debate is this Friday and what I would love for George "Wizzle" Bush and Jo-Dawg Kerry to cover are issues concerning the college population.

Those two little rascals spent way too much time "talking about" foreign policy and homeland security, instead of actually "explaining" what they planned to do about each topic. I learned nothing educational from the debate and I'm pretty sure I actually became more stupid when I turned off the television. In order for Bush and Kerry to keep a large portion of their audience, they are going to have to start addressing collegiate issues.

What concerns college students more than the insane gouging of video game prices? Who said that all new videogames must be $49.99? College students worship video games and food

Nader raps Bush, Kerry as too alike
By LAURA WALSH
Associated Press Writer

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader returned to his home state Wednesday to campaign at Yale University, the alma matter of his two opponents.
Nader spoke to a small crowd in front of the building that houses Skull and Bones, a secret society whose members reportedly included President Bush and John Kerry. He said the two major-party candidates need to answer questions regarding their involvement in the group.
The consumer advocate said Bush has appointed to public office 10 members or former members of Skull and Bones.
"We're dealing here with members of a secret society who presumably prefer each other in terms of advancing each other, recommending each other, appointing each other to public positions and enhancing each other's business deals," Nader said.

Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader gestures as he speaks to students at Brown University Wednesday in Providence, R.I. (AP)
Despite poor poll numbers and his inability to get on the ballot in every state, Nader said he is still campaigning hard.
He was also in Providence Wednesday, speaking to an audience of nearly 800 at Brown University.
Some in the audience, like Jennifer Almeida, 31, from Quincy, Mass., voted for Nader four years ago but haven't decided yet if they'll do so again.
Almeida is an independent who likes Nader's stance as someone "who's not bought and paid for by special interests."
Jenn Pohle, 20, of New Haven, Conn., said she'll definitely be voting for Nader.
"He doesn't quit, that's really good," said Pohle, an independent.
Nader said a vote for him means a chance to break up a two-party election system that leaves little room for competition.
Democrats worry that Nader will take some support from Kerry, potentially giving President Bush the edge in swing states considered critical by both parties in this year's election.
Critics have said Nader's candidacy in 2000 cost Democrat Al Gore the presidential election. Gore lost by just a few hundred votes in Florida, where Nader received 970,000 votes.
"Listen, a vote for Kerry is now a vote for the war in Iraq," Nader said in Connecticut. "He wants to go into a full war until victory. That's going to be huge bloodshed, a huge drain on our tax dollars. It's another Vietnam."
Nader is on the ballot in more than 30 states, including Rhode Island, and is suing for ballot access in several others.
In Connecticut, a Quinnipiac University survey of likely voters had Kerry leading Bush 50 percent to 44 percent, with 2 percent supporting Nader. The poll of 1,044 registered voters was conducted from Sept. 26-28 and has sampling margin of error of about 3 percentage points.

"A honey pot, in intelligence jargon, is a tempting source of
information or 'dangle' that is set out to lure intended victims into
a trap. Ultimately the honey pot is violently and maliciously
discredited so as to destroy the credibility of anything stuck to it
by association." (Michael Ruppert, "Crossing the Rubicon," p. 184)
http://www.oilempire.us/pentagon.html
It is probably not a coincidence that the defenders of the official
"surprise attack" claim focus mostly on the "no plane at the
Pentagon" story in their quest to discredit 9/11 skeptics.
The Shockwave film released in late summer 2004 that purports to
document the "no plane" theory
A video clip on the web that was posted to numerous sites in late
summer 2004 (see http://www.911truthla.org/flash/pentagon_strike.swf
or http://www.elchulo.net/files/pentagon.swf) supposedly documents
the "no plane" at the Pentagon claims. This film is slick propaganda
that avoids most of the evidence, flashes quickly from point to
point, distracts the viewer with loud rock music (perhaps a type of
"bait" to snare youthful web surfers?), and would not qualify as
forensic evidence in any courtroom. It is a form of "disinfotainment."
http://www.abovetopsecret.com/pages/911_pentagon_757_plane_evidence.html
Here is the hole in the building - it's been reported by at least a
dozen different sources (including conspiracy theory sites) to be a
16 to 20 foot hole. That is really interesting when you take into
account the fact that the 757 body is 12 ft 4in wide and 13 ft 6in
high. (Here is where I was mistaken in the past, like so very many
others I was led astray by the HEIGHT of the aircraft, which is
actually the measurement from the wheels-down to the tip of the tail.
That measurement is for aircraft hangar clearance, not the SIZE of
the aircraft.) The 757 is basically a cylinder that is 13 feet
across. It then should not be surprising that it would create
something around a thirteen foot hole in the side of the building.
John Judge:
http://www.ratical.org/ratville/JFK/JohnJudge/f77FoF.html
That side of the Pentagon was virtually empty and had been for
some time because the building had been under reconstruction quite
visibly on that side for 5-6 years and part of that was to reinforce
the building from external attack. In fact some photos show the
difference in damage on either side of that reinforcement work and it
is striking. That plane went 270 degrees out of its way at high
speed, a very sophisticated maneuver with no possible military
advantage, to hit the empty side of the Pentagon. There, as in New
York, I would argue that they minimized the number of deaths by
timing and method of attack.

There is no question that Flight 77 hit the Pentagon. Remaining
agnostic on this point also gives ammunition to the perpetrators of
the stand-down and serves to discredit the other good work that
continues to be done about the reality of what happened that day. It
is my feeling that this thesis was actually part of an intentional
disinformation campaign that spreads red herrings to discredit the
real findings. "These conspiracy theorists will believe anything" say
our detractors. Let's discover and present the hard facts and force
the coincidence theorists to come up with plausible explanations
instead of spewing out speculations we cannot back up and leaving
ourselves on the defensive.

It's time to get past the embarrassment of falling for propaganda --
the "no plane" meme is a "honeypot."

New Adenovirus Vaccine A 'Top Priority,' Official Says
By Gerry J. GilmoreAmerican Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, Oct. 7, 2004 – The Defense Department is
working to field a new vaccine designed to combat a virus that's plagued
military boot camps since World War II, DoD's senior medical official reported
Oct. 5.
The development of a new adenovirus vaccine is a "top priority," Dr. William
Winkenwerder Jr. said during a Pentagon Channel and American Forces Press
Service interview. The vaccine, he noted, is slated to become available for
troop use in 2006, presuming current development efforts remain on schedule and
Food and Drug Administration hurdles are cleared.
Winkenwerder, the assistant secretary of defense for health affairs,
explained that people exposed to adenovirus –- which is often found in a
crowded, stressful environment, such as basic training camps -- may experience
fever and other flu-like symptoms. The virus, he said, usually takes three to
five days to run its course and most people fully recover without ill effects.
However, some people with weakened immune systems or other existing health
issues, he pointed out, have developed a more serious illness, and a handful
have died after contracting the virus (six deaths in the past five years among
about 960,000 recruits).
He noted DoD is spending $50 million to obtain the new vaccine. It's now
being tested for safety, he said, in accordance with FDA requirements.
"It's our plan," Winkenwerder explained, "that sometime next year we'll be
starting into what are called the Phase 2 and Phase 3 trials to look at the
effectiveness of the vaccine. We have every reason to believe it's going to be
safe and effective because it's very similar to the old vaccine."
A post-World War II government report released in 1947 first confirmed
adenoviruses were the cause of a large number of respiratory and other illnesses
experienced by wartime military recruits.
Documents say 10 to 12 percent of all military recruits have come down with
adenovirus-related illnesses since 1999, when the military ran out of an old
vaccine that had been given recruits since 1971. That percentage range is
similar to that experienced at boot camps during pre-vaccine days.
The old vaccine, Winkenwerder explained, had been dropped by the military
during the 1990s. That action, he said, "was an error" and resulted partly from
a study that indicated the military no longer needed the vaccine, which had been
dispensed to recruits in two-pill doses.
In fiscal 1999, DoD recognized that the adenovirus vaccine was needed after
all and provided funding to re-establish production for the next fiscal year.
However, under previous scheduling the new vaccine wasn't slated to become
available until 2009.
Winkenwerder said he directed the accelerated development of the new vaccine
after learning of the resurgence of the virus at military boot camps.

The Secret Relationship Between Israel and Oil: What the US Media Hides
Wendy Campbell

October 6, 2004 - I have found that there is nothing more inspiring than
taking a trip, especially to a foreign country where I leave behind my daily
routine, including e-mails and the internet, to get to think outside the box
and to get a chance to write down my thoughts.

The moment of inspiration for me to start writing this article on my latest
trip (to Baja Mexico) came moments after I stepped into the Alaska Airlines
jet and picked up the complimentary issue of The Wall Street Journal.
Generally I avoid mainstream media these days since I know it is mostly
pro-Israel propaganda as well as blown-up sensationalist stories, such as
the case of Scott Peterson, which are meant to distract people from the more
important issues of our time, such as the US foreign policy, for example.

The article in the Wall Street Journal, dated September 21, 2004, that
rankled me into finally writing this article, which has been brewing in my
mind for some time, was one by Jeffrey Ball entitled “As Prices Soar,
Doomsayers Provoke Debate on Oil’s Future”. The sub-title was: “ In a 1970’s
echo, Dr. Campbell (no relation to me!) Warns Supply Is Drying Up, but
Industry Isn’t Worried”.

Now let me explain to you that I have already come to the conclusion a while
ago that this controversy about the “shortage of oil” is being pushed
forward by mostly pro-Israel forces for their own narrow agenda that has
nothing to do with the vast majority of the American people’s interests.

Even in this article, it is explained that: “Dr. Campbell is at the center
of a small but suddenly influential band of contrarians known as the “peak
oil movement”. Their general thesis is that the world is running out of oil
and quickly. They have been saying this for years, yet most experts believe
that there is no need for panic, noting that new sources are constantly
being discovered. Some experts even claim that oil supplies are
self-renewing.

US MEDIA DETERMINES WHO WILL BE INFLUENTIAL

Is it a coincidence that Dr. Campbell is “suddenly influential”? No, it is
not. Even the Wall Street Journal is playing into the game of making Dr.
Campbell “suddenly influential” with this article.

Why is the US media pushing Dr. Campbell, a man who lives in a tiny Irish
village, into the limelight? Because the media, which is run by pro-Israel
forces, want people like Dr. Campbell to be in the limelight is why.

And you may ask, why is that? Well, because Dr. Campbell’s views help
support the pro-Israel agenda of that other “suddenly influential band of
contrarians”, known as the NeoConservatives. The NeoConservatives are mostly
Zionist Jews, headed by Paul Wolfowitz, who qualify as Israeli-Americans,
and who are now openly directing US foreign policy almost completely.
Christian Zionists such as Bush and Cheney have jumped on their bandwagon.
Of course, it looks even more convincing when a non-Jew such as Dr.
Campbell, puts forward claims that will lend support to the pro-Israel
agenda.

People whose voices the US media wants you to hear will be heard.
Conversely, people whose voices and actions the US media want to hide, will
go into the memory hole. It’s only an illusion that we have a free and
democratic press here in the US. Personally, I think it’s about time to
press for the right to vote for affirmative action laws with regards to
specifically the US mass media and our US foreign policy department, both of
which have a hugely disproportional percentage of Israeli-Americans in them.

The over-representation of Israeli-Americans in US newsrooms tends to
undermine journalistic integrity. When the news media consistently
manipulate

Iraqi guerillas infiltrate the "Green
Zone"

The US fortress inside Baghdad, where the American embassy sits behind
razorwire and concrete blast barricades and where the "Interim government" of
Iraq installed by the US is stored, is being penetrated more and more frequently
by the Iraqi resistance. In a report
today from the AP: The warning to Americans and Iraqi officials
in the Green Zone followed the discovery Tuesday of an explosive device at the
Green Zone Cafe, a popular hangout for Westerners living and working in the
compound which houses major U.S. and Iraqi government offices. A U.S. military
ordnance detachment safely disarmed it, U.S. officials said. A
loud explosion shook the Green Zone on Thursday afternoon and smoke was seen
rising from inside the compound. The U.S. military had no immediate information
on the incident. Insurgents regularly fire at the compound.
Americans living and working in the zone were warned to avoid
non-essential movements, travel in groups and avoid specific areas.
A Financial Times article from September 15 cites American
military commanders: US military officers in Baghdad have warned they
cannot guarantee the security of the perimeter around the Green Zone, the
headquarters of the Iraqi government and home to the US and British embassies,
according to security company employees. At a briefing earlier
this month, a high-ranking US officer in charge of the zone's perimeter said he
had insufficient soldiers to prevent intruders penetrating the compound's
defences. The US major said it was possible weapons or explosives
had already been stashed in the zone, and warned people to move in pairs for
their own safety. The Green Zone, in Baghdad's centre, is one of the most
fortified US installations in Iraq. Until now, militants have not been able to
penetrate it. And so it goes. Less than a month ago, the 1,000
American deaths milestone was passed and as of 10/6/04 the toll stood at 1065
dead Americans. According to the Iraq Coalition Casualty Count website, there
have been exactly FOUR days in the year 2004 which have passed without at least
one American military death and the last such day was in June. There is
now no area in Iraq in which it is possible for an American to travel freely.
So much for the imposition of "democracy" at the point of a gun. The
only question remaining about the American occupation of Iraq involves the
details of how it badly and quickly it ends.

In Denial
Robert Thompson, Axis of Logic

Oct 6, 2004, 12:28 - Reality is often hard to face, whether one is in a
position of power or just a simple citizen, such as myself. However, certain
events can bring us face to face with its best and worst aspects. In my
case, the invasion of my body by a life-threatening cancer had the effect of
stripping away any illusions which I might have had that my life would
always trundle along in the same happy-go-lucky way as had previously been
the case.

This confrontation with reality brought into play the great wonders which we
know as Faith, Hope and Love. Faith brought Hope, and Hope made me even more
fully aware than before of the power of Love. Love is a marvel, since it
radiates outwards, and, in my case, it has its centre in my own family (my
wife, our children and our grandchildren) and embraces all our friends,
whether old or new. Reality obliges me to recognise its power, and to
understand the need to do what I can to make Love spread around me, and
thereby to combat hatred.

These delightfully reassuring aspects of reality must not lead me into
wandering off my subject, namely the ability of human beings to go into
denial, or, to put it into other terms, to run away from reality. The
temptation can be particularly strong when reality is either harsh and hard
to bear, or even merely uncomfortable, complex and difficult fully to
understand. We can see all around us how much easier it seems to be for
people to accept simple lies rather than complicated truths.

This refusal to face up to facts is especially dangerous when it affects
those who wield power in this world, and it is sad to see how often it does
so. Mr Bush and his team have recently told the world that recent events in
Afghanistan are a signal success. In fact, stability in that country, which
not only has great ethnic diversity, but is also bitterly divided, is under
grave threat on the one hand from the Taliban (created by agencies of the
U.S.A. to be a thorn in the side of the Sovier Union) and on the other from
the war-lords in whom the Allies placed too much faith, and to whom they
provided too many arms.

These same politicians are also telling us that they are succeeding in Iraq
and in what they call their "War on Terror". Both these claims are very
obviously and blatantly false. The illegal invasion of Iraq was bound to be
a disaster, and has given unprecedented strength to the extremists who are
so ready to use terrorism as a means to seize power over others. As to the
"War on Terror", there is no sign of its having yet started, and it has very
cleverly been diverted by interested parties into a war against Islam and/or
majoritarily Muslim countries. This has been completed by successfully
confusing the general public in your country into believing not only that
black is white but more importantly that hatred is love. As has so many
times been said, if a lie is repeated often enough it will be believed, and
the example here before us is that Saddam Hussein supported his arch-enemies
such as Mr Oussama bin Laden. As is well known, the latter and his family
were much closer to their fellow members of the Carlyle Group than they were
to the Iraqi Ba'ath Party.

A simple examination of the facts brings us to see the terrifying reality of
the present situation in the world. It is so easy to claim to be "strong" or
"tough", but it is not easy to be genuinely effective. False pride, known to
the Greeks as hubris, can be very tempting, but it is almost certain to lead
one astray. The U.S.A. may, at present, be the only super-power, but as with
all human empires, this status is only temporary and the world, including
the Bush administration, has to face reality. Other potential super-powers

Canadian Firms Soaked in Iraqi and Afghan Blood
MATTHEW BEHRENS, CounterPunch

October 6, 2004 - While Paul Martin was congratulating Canada on "not
participating" in the U.S.-led invasion and occupation of Iraq during last
spring's federal election, a Quebec-based weapons firm sealed a deal which
will ensure that every time Iraqi or Afghani blood is shed, a Canadian-made
bullet will be one of the prime suspects.

On May 25, 2004, General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems announced
the formation of a "multinational consortium of proven small-caliber
ammunition producers whose purpose is to respond to the U.S. Defense
Department's immediate and growing demand for small-caliber ammunition."
Members of the consortium include Winchester, Israel Military Industries
Ltd. (IMI) and SNC Technologies, Inc. of Le Gardeur, Quebec.

SNC Technologies (SNC TEC) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of engineering firm
SNC-Lavalin, which acquired the company in 1980.

SNC TEC prides itself on the production of what it calls, with no trace of
irony, IM (insensitive munition) technology. In an age of kinder and gentler
invasions and occupations, it's nice to know that at least one of the
players is up front and honest about the brutal nature of its product.

SNC TEC produces the tools by which murders are committed, individually or
on a mass scale. They make over 100 types of ammunition, both for training
to kill and for killing itself. From the 5.56 mm "non-toxic improved
penetrator cartridge" (which presumably does not give cancer to the
individual whose insides are torn apart by the bullet) to the ".50 caliber
Sniper Elite and Target radar augmented projectiles," SNC boasts of a
"creative R&D and engineering team" to fill what they call the "niche" in
the world murder market.

It is one of numerous contracts which Canadian war firms are picking up to
support current U.S. invasions, occupations, and other illegal maneuvers
under the guise of fighting terrorism.

Héroux-Devtek announced September 29 that its Landing Gear Division has been
awarded $22 million in contracts from the United States Air Force for the
F-16 fighter aircraft, the "workhorse" of the U.S. military which can unload
16,000 pounds of bombs in one go.

Héroux-Devtek owns the notorious Diemaco of Kitchener, manufacturers of a
"family" of chain guns which can fire up to 700 rounds a minute and which
are currently in use in Iraq and Afghanistan.

A company release proudly boasts of a "repair and overhaul contract for the
U.S. Air Force for ten years. The total value of the contract is $140
million. Important design, development, manufacturing and supply contracts
were also signed [in 2004] for new generation military aircraft with Boeing,
Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin."

And more will come. At the end of September, The World Trade Centre Montreal
and the Quebec Aerospace Association put together a trade mission to visit
the head office of the US Naval Air Systems Command (US NAVAIR) at Patuxent
River, Maryland. Their goal was to "promote Quebec's aerospace products and
services for American defence."

This summer, Project Ploughshares reported that Canadian helicopters were
bound for Pakistan's military, despite a Canadian military embargo against
that country. They will originate in the Bell Helicopter Textron Canada
plant in Mirabel, Quebec, and are to be used in the "war against terror,"
the catch-all phrase for anything anyone wants to get away with when a
clear, legal rationale is not readily available.

Meanwhile, the Canadian government, perhaps fearful that a stand for peace
will interfere with the domestic war industry, abstained in August at the
United Nations on a resolution "reaffirming the central role of the United
Nations in the maintenance of inte

A 'Transition' to Failure
Erik Leaver, AlterNet

October 6, 2004 - In the first presidential debate, President Bush insisted
over and again that the way to win the war in Iraq is to be "steadfast and
resolved."

"We've got a plan in place," he said. "The plan says there will be elections
in January, and there will be. The plan says we'll train Iraqi soldiers so
they can do the hard work, and we are." What Bush failed to mention was that
his plan – which is, in effect, staying the course – will only increase the
Iraq War’s already horrific human and economic costs borne by both Americans
and Iraqis.

There is no better proof of the consequences of the Bush "plan" than the
grim reality on the ground three months after the so-called "transition" of
power. Since June 30, U.S. military casualties have risen dramatically. The
death rate for non-Iraqi contractors has doubled. The Iraqi resistance has
quadrupled its forces.

The centerpiece of the administration’s plan is to improve the Iraqis’
fighting ability, allowing American troops to take a back seat in combat
operations and eventually pull out of Iraq. But the Iraqi police and
National Guard have largely failed to provide security for the Iraqi people
and the situation appears to be only worsening.

The death of 34 Iraqi children in a car bombing on the same day as the
debate underscored the grim fact that it is the Iraqis who are paying the
highest price for this war. These children, seeking candy from U.S.
soldiers, were casualties of a war that puts anyone who is physically near
or associated with a U.S. soldier at risk. At least 13,000 Iraqi civilians
have died so far. (If the data for the Iraqi dead is incomplete, it is
because the U.S. government has consistently refused to tally the civilian
death toll.) Members of Iraq’s security forces are being killed at a higher
rate than before the “transition." At least 127 were killed in June and July
2004, raising the total body count since January 2004 to more than 700.

While the toll of the war on Iraqis has not been well documented, the cost
of the occupation-by-another-name in U.S. lives painfully clear. Over 1,000
U.S. soldiers and their families have paid the ultimate price for the Iraq
War. And just as the number of deaths has risen for Iraqis since the
“transition,” so has it for the U.S. The total number of U.S. soldiers
killed and wounded during these three months stands at 747 per month,
exceeding the pre-transition rate of 449 casualties per month prior to June
30.

The high casualty rate reveals the insurgency as stronger than ever. The
monthly average of insurgent attacks on U.S. and Iraqi forces. more than
doubled from 1,005 in the eight months prior to the “transition,” to 2,150
in the months since the "handover." And many, including U.S. Army Lt. Gen.
David H. Petraeus, believe that it is likely that insurgent attacks will
escalate as Iraq’s elections approach.

The Pentagon has acknowledged that the number of insurgents is on the rise.
In November of 2003, the Pentagon estimated that there were 5,000 Iraqi
resistance fighters. In September 2004, the number had risen to 20,000. The
British Deputy Commander of the forces in Iraq estimates the resistance may
be double that number. The rise is even starker when we factor in the
additional 24,000 Iraqi resistance fighters who have been detained or
killed.

With the insurgency showing no signs of abating, soldiers are forced to
endure lengthy deployments that now average over 320 days. At least 45,000
troops have been given “stop loss” orders which, like a form of the draft,
keep soldiers in service beyond the agreed-upon term of enlistment.
Reservists and National Guardsmen are also feeling the effects of the war in
their pockets as 30 to 40 percent of them are n

http://inn.globalfreepress.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=853

On the second international "9/11 was an Inside Job" day, Carol Morello (WP) revealed the real identity of "W" aka Darren Williams, who created the worldwide popular "Pentagon Strike" flash video, reported about the 9/11 Truth Movement and mentioned David Ray Griffin as one of the successful 9/11 truth book authors

Conspiracy Theories Flourish on the Internet

WP-October 7

By Carol Morello
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, October 7, 2004; Page B01

Working from his home office in a small town in England, Darren Williams spent four weeks this summer making a short but startling video that raises novel questions about the 2001 attack on the Pentagon.

The video, "9/11: Pentagon Strike," suggests that it was not American Airlines Flight 77 that slammed into the Pentagon, but a missile or a small plane.

With rock music as a backdrop, the video offers flashes of photographs taken shortly after impact, interspersed with witness accounts. The pictures seem incompatible with damage caused by a jumbo jet, and no one mentions seeing one. Red arrows point to unbroken windows in the burning building. Firefighters stand outside a perfectly round hole in a Pentagon wall where the Boeing 757 punched through; it is less than 20 feet in diameter...

Propelled by word of mouth, Internet search engines and e-mail, the video has been downloaded by millions of people around the world.

American history is rife with conspiracy theories. Extremists have fed rumors of secret plots by Masons, bankers, Catholics and Communists. But now urban legends have become cyberlegends, and suspicions speed their way globally not over months and weeks but within days and hours on the Web.

"The dissemination is almost immediate," said Doug Thomas, a University of Southern California communications professor who teaches classes on technology and subgroups. "It's not just one Web site saying, 'Hey, look at this.' It's 10,000 people sending e-mails to 10 friends, and then they send it on."

The Pentagon video could be a case study. Williams created a Web site for the video, www.pentagonstrike.co.uk. Then he e-mailed a copy to Laura Knight-Jadczyk, an American author living in France whose books include one on alien abduction. Williams, 31, a systems analyst, belongs to an online group hosted by Knight-Jadczyk that blends discussions of science, politics and the paranormal.

On Aug. 23, Knight-Jadczyk posted a link to the video on the group's Web site, www.Cassiopaea.org. Within 36 hours, Williams's site collapsed under the crush of tens of thousands of visitors. But there were others to fill the void.

In Texas, a former casino worker who downloaded the video began drawing almost 700,000 visitors a day to his libertarian site. In Louisiana, a young Navy specialist put the video on his personal Web page, usually visited by a few friends and relatives; suddenly, the site was inundated by more than 20,000 hits. In Alberta, traffic to a cabdriver's site shot up more than sixfold after he supplied a link to the video.

Across thousands of sites, demand for the video was so great that some webmasters solicited donations to pay for the extra bandwidth.

"Pentagon Strike" is just the latest and flashiest example of a growing number of Web sites, books and videos contending that something other than a commercial airliner hit the Pentagon.

Most make their case through the selective use of photographs and eyewitness accounts reported during the confusion of the first hours after the attack. They say they don't know what really happened to American Airlines Flight 77 and don't offer other explanations. The doubters say they are just asking questions that have not been answered satisfactorily.

The ready and growing audience for conspiracy theories about the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks has been particularly galling to those who worked on the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, the bipartisan panel known as the 9/11 commission.

"We discussed the theories," said Philip D. Zelikow, the commission's executive director. "When we wrote the report, we were also careful not to answer all the theories. It's like playing Whack-A-Mole. You're never going to whack them all. They satisfy a deep need in the people who create them. What we tried to do instead was to affirmatively tell what was true and tell it adding a lot of critical details that we knew would help dispel concerns."

... The belief that the government is lying about the Sept. 11 attacks is coming from both the right and the left. Experts say more than suspicion of the Bush administration is at work.

... David Ray Griffin considers himself an unlikely recruit to what is called the "9/11 Truth Movement." The retired theologian, who taught religion for three decades at Claremont School of Theology, initially dismissed the notion that it was not an airliner that hit the Pentagon. But af

Alert: Watch the U.N. Gun Debate

A Special Message from NRA Executive Vice President Wayne
LaPierre: Tune in to iN DEMAND Pay-Per-View and Watch the U.N. Gun
Debate!

Make plans now to watch iN DEMAND Pay-Per-View on October 12th
for my 90-minute debate with international gun-ban ringleader Rebecca
Peters. And after the debate, be sure to Vote on whether the U.S.
Senate should approve the U.N.'s gun-ban treaty!

Rebecca Peters almost single-handedly brought gun confiscation
to Australia and to England and is now the most feared gun-banner in
the world. With more than 500 gun control organizations under her
command worldwide, and with the unlimited financial backing of
billionaire George Soros, she's determined to make gun confiscation a
reality here in the United States -- through a U.N.-backed treaty
that would be binding on every American citizen.

You and every American gun owner need to watch this debate --
and see first-hand this enormous and very real threat to our Second
Amendment rights.

Tune in on October 12th, and you'll see how gun banners have
taken over the U.N. -- and how they intend to infect America with
their anti-gun poison. You'll see for yourself how the biggest
coalition of gun-ban organizations ever assembled on earth is working
with the U.N. and with U.S. politicians to take away your rights.

You'll learn the truth about George Soros -- the foreign-born
American financier who is spending his personal fortune to advance
the global gun-ban movement as well as elect John Kerry to the White
House on November 2nd. And you'll see for yourself why U.N. gun-ban
extremists will be rejoicing around the world if John Kerry is
elected President.

To prevent our nation from living under this soon-to-be-drafted
United Nations gun control treaty in the years ahead, every American
needs to know what the U.N. intends to do with our Second Amendment
rights -- and every gun owner needs to watch this debate.

Please tune in to this historic debate. See the threat for
yourself. And invite your gun-owning friends, neighbors and co-
workers to watch with you.

I promise you, you'll never look at the U.N. in the same way
again -- and you'll get the information you need to help defeat this
U.N.-backed effort to ban our guns. Thanks in advance for watching --
and for Voting!

SHOWTIME:

Tuesday, October 12 9:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time

firearms?

without a fight! But only those who have ordered this Pay-Per-View

In the mid 1970s, many newly formed countries in
Africa and Asia were realizing that colonialism was a
structural part of their information systems.

Several non-aligned nations demanded a "New World
Information Order," and UNESCO began an initiative to
address issues of, as they put it, information parity.

As an organization devoted to the development of
education and science in the world, UNESCO recognized
that media access was part of the information picture.

Many research papers were commissioned and over 100
studies conducted in various countries, which clearly
demonstrated that information distribution was
essentially a "one way street": much of it coming from
Hollywood and New York.

The published results of this UNESCO project

became perhaps the most maliciously attacked volume
(pre-Rushdie) in the twentieth century.

Named for the chairman of the commission,

Sean McBride

(founder of Amnesty International,

great Irish patriot, son of Maude Gonne, the only
person to win both the Lenin and Nobel Peace Prizes,

and whose tireless efforts for justice in the world
only ended with his death at age 92),

" The McBride Report: Many Voices, One World ",

dared to propose ways in which other voices could be
heard.

It saw the essentially "one-way" flow of information
as a problem to be reckoned with and contained
suggestions for making media production accessible
throughout the world.

"A Warning for the Past"

Exclusive Submission to Portside

By Stewart Acuff, National AFL-CIO Organizing Director

"Driven by these provocations and frustrations, there
is the danger that America may be tempted to exert all
the terrible power she possesses to compel history to
conform to her own illusions. The extreme, but by no
means the only expression, would be the so-called
preventive war."

"Such historians must have learned that virtue has
never been defined by national or regional boundaries,
and that morality and rectitude are not the monopolies
of factions or parties. They must reveal the fallacy
of a diplomacy based on moral bigotry, as well as the
fallacy of one that relies on economic coercion through
the fancied indispensability of favored products. Their
studies would show the futility of erecting
intellectual barricades against unpopular ideas of
employing censorship and repression against social
criticism, and of imposing the ideas of the conqueror
upon defeated peoples by force of arms."

Sound like Michael Moore or Howard Dean in 2004? It
may sound like them, but neither of them wrote it and
it wasn't written in 2004. No, these wise words were
written in 1952 by C. Vann Woodward, one of America's
most esteemed historians as a warning during the Cold
War, in his book "The Burden of Southern History." They
could not, however, be any more timely than they are
today. The lies, falsehoods, and fallacious
braggadocio of this President are unequalled by any
other in our nation's history.

Woodward wants America not to use its power to compel
history to conform to its illusions. That is precisely
why the neo-conservatives in the Bush Administration
wanted to make war in Iraq, to force the Middle East to
conform to this illusion.

While a wise man 50 years ago cautioned the nation to
avoid preventive war, George Bush has based our
country's latest foreign policy doctrine on preventive
war. Woodward's warning serves as an indictment of
Bush. Bush has prosecuted a preventive war that is
unnecessary, unjust and evil. He has used moral
bigotry against all who don't subscribe to his narrow,
provincial and biased morality. With Rumsfeld's
dismissal of old Europe and the U.N., Bush and his
people think virtue rests with us.

Bush and his followers have scoffed at and scorned all
who disagree with them, causing huge police
overreaction, ever creating temporary police states
during demonstrations at the FTAA summit last November
in Miami and at the Republican Convention in New York
City.

And in Iraq, they are right now trying to impose their
will and ideas in a country by force of arms, even
going so far as to try to use CIA covert operations to
"help" favored candidates.

Iraq is going terribly, horribly wrong. Over 1,000
Americans have died and as many as 20,000 Iraqis have
died. Bush lied about the reasons to go to war. He
has and continues to lie repeatedly about how it is
going. He has obscenely gloated while people are
dying. And with his cocksure, "Bring 'em on," he has
invited more attacks and encouraged the insurgents.

While we study the polls and second guess the Kerry-
Edwards campaign and strategy and hope the debates move
voters, a great American historian speaks to us from 50
years ago about undying truths and lessons learned the
hard way throughout history.

-Caveat Lector-
"Horns and Halos" a film about Sander Hicks and Bush biographer James
Hatfield is now available on DVD -- highly recommended for
understanding the modus operandi of Karl Rove and the Cheney
administration. Rove was a source for Hatfield's book "Fortunate
Son" (released during the Gore/Bush campaign), accurately describing
W. Bush's cocaine laden past. However, Rove used the revelation to
smear Mr. Hatfield, who had a felony conviction in his past, and used
his tainted past to discredit the revelations (similar to the
possibly forged papers that CBS published that accurately described
Bush going AWOL from the Air National Guard, or the bogus websites
that pretend to reveal the 9/11 complicity based on material that is
blatantly not true, which distracts from best evidence that is proven
beyond reasonable doubt.)

Wellstone Was Murdered.
In "American Assassination," two professors explain how.

Who Killed Senator Paul Wellstone?
New Book Presents Damning New Research,
Authors, Publisher Call for Senate Investigation
Monday, October 25th, 12 Noon
National Press Club * Holeman Lounge
 529 14th St NW * Washington, DC

Two years ago, all eyes were on the Senate race of Senator Paul
Wellstone. In the wake of the defection of Jim Jeffords, the White
House hand-picked Norm Coleman to attempt to unseat the populist
Wellstone. But Coleman still trailed Wellstone late in the campaign.
On October 11th, Wellstone voted against the President's war on Iraq,
despite a dire personal warning of "severe ramifications" from Vice
President Cheney. As the result of his vote, Wellstone's popularity
soared.
Then tragedy struck. Just ten days before his probable re-election,
Senator Wellstone was killed in the mysterious crash of his small
aircraft. On October 25, 2002, the American people suffered the loss
of a leader for peace and justice. Some folks harbored suspicions.
And some remember how the media blamed the weather.
After two years of research, James Fetzer, Ph.D. and Don "Four
Arrows" Jacobs, Ph.D., prove that the weather did not kill Senator
Wellstone. Nor were the two pilots incompetent, as the final report
of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) would claim.
With impeccable logic, these two highly-lauded university professors
ask the hard questions: Why the mysterious cessation of communication
from the airplane right before the crash? Why did a passer-by
experience cell phone interference at the exact time the pilots lost
control? How did the FBI arrive at the crash scene, only an hour or
so after the first responders, and eight hours before the NTSB?
At the time of Senator Wellstone's death, 69% of Minnesotans polled
said they had a hunch a "GOP Conspiracy" was at play. Now, a new book
makes the case that the common people were right all along..
On October 25th, on the two year anniversary of Wellstone's crash,
Authors Jim Fetzer and Four Arrows will join Publisher Sander Hicks
in Washington to reveal about what really happened that day. At the
National Press Club, they will announce publication of American
Assassination: The Strange Death of Senator Paul Wellstone.
"With new evidence and scientific rigor, Drs. Fetzer and Jacobs
systematically appraise the alternative explanations for the death of
a United States Senator. Their conclusion-that Paul Wellstone was the
target of an assassination-is very disturbing. It should motivate
authorities to launch a formal inquiry into the death of this
remarkable American."

A controversial technology already planned for tracking consumer
products could be used to create "smart" driver's licenses that emit
signals readable from a distance, according to federal and state
government officials contemplating ways to fight identity fraud.
Radio frequency identification, or RFID, could help thwart terrorists
who use falsified documents to get around, say Virginia lawmakers who will
hear testimony on the technology's uses, reports Wired.com.
  As WorldNetDaily
reported, a Johnson & Johnson executive recently told industry
leaders that in the future, the RFID chips will be "on everything from
  diapers to surgical instruments."
On the driver's licenses, the computer chips would emit a radio signal
bearing the holder's unique, personal information. Virginia is considering
adding biometric data such as fingerprints and retinal scans to the RFID
  tags.

But privacy advocates fear government could use the technology to spy
on citizens and believe it could make identity theft even more
  complicated.
Government agents could, for example, easily identify large numbers of
protesters in a march, and crooks could mine personal information from the
wallets of passersby on a street corner, Wired.com said.
A government also could track the movement of its citizens by coupling
global positioning data related to satellites with information from card
  readers that translate the signals.
Advocates of the technology insist, however, the fears are exaggerated.

"Putting a chip or biometric data on a driver's license doesn't change
one iota the rules under which that information can be used," said Robert
  D. Atkinson, vice president at the Progressive Policy Institute, according
  to Wired.
But Virginia lawmakers say they need to be convinced the technology
  cannot be easily abused.
"I can't see us using RFID until we're comfortable we can without
encroaching on individual privacy, and ensure it won't be used as a Big
Brother technology by the government," Joe May, chairman of the Virginia
General Assembly's House Science and Technology Committee, told Wired.
Some privacy advocates worry about the capability of reader devices to
sense signals from a distance. Tests have demonstrated broadcast ranges of
  up to 30 feet.
Opponents also point out federal legislators could require states to
conform with uniform "smart card" standards, effectively turning the
licenses into a national ID that could be read anywhere in the country.
But costs will be a factor as states face the burden of complying with
  the federal standards.
"It could easily become yet another unfunded federal mandate, of which
we already have $60 billion worth," said Cheye Calvo, director of the
transportation committee at the National Conference of State Legislatures,
  according to Wired.

[CTRL] Feds plan to track every car

2004-10-07 Thread Jim Rarey
-Caveat Lector-

Source:WorldNetDailyhttp://www.worldnetdaily.com/Feds plan to track
every car Obscure agency working on technology to monitor all vehicles
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=40795October
7, 2004 A little-known federal agency is planning a new monitoring
program by which the government would track every car on the road by using
onboard transceivers. The agency, the Intelligent Transportation Systems
Joint Program Office www.its.dot.gov, is part of the Department of
Transportation. According to an extensive report in the Charlotte, N.C.,
Creative Loafing http://snipurl.com/9lpl ,
the agency doesn't respond to public inquiries about its activity.
According to the report, cutting-edge tracking technology will be used
by government transportation management centers to monitor every aspect of
transportation. Under the plan, not only will movement be monitored but it also
will be archived in massive databases for future use. The paper reports
a group of car manufacturers, technology companies and government interests have
worked toward implementing the project for 13 years. States the Creative
Loafing report: "The only way for people to evade the national
transportation tracking system they're creating will be to travel on foot. Drive
your car, and your every movement could be recorded and archived. The federal
government will know the exact route you drove to work, how many times you
braked along the way, the precise moment you arrived – and that every other
Tuesday you opt to ride the bus. "They'll know you're due for a
transmission repair and that you've neglected to fix the ever-widening crack
that resulted from a pebble dinging your windshield." The agency's
website says its purpose is to "use advanced technology to improve the
efficiency and safety of our nation's surface transportation system."
Critics believe the program will be used to line the pockets of business
interests that stand to gain from the sale of needed technology and that the
government will use the data collected to tax drivers on their driving habits.
Though the program has ominous privacy implications, Creative Loafing
reports none of the privacy-rights organizations it contacted were aware of the
government's plans. The report states that more than $4 billion in
federal tax dollars has already been spent to lay the foundation for the system,
which will use GPS technology and other methods to monitor Americans' movements.
The plan includes transceivers, or "onboard units," that will transmit
data from each car to the system, the first models of which are expected to be
unveiled next spring. By 2010, the paper reported, automakers hope to start
installing them in cars. The goal is to equip 57 million vehicles by 2015.
Creative Loafing quotes Bill Jones, technical director of the
Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office, from a speech he gave
in January. "The concept," said Jones, "is that vehicle manufacturers
will install a communications device on the vehicle starting at some future
date, and equipment will be installed on the nation's transportation system to
allow all vehicles to communicate with the infrastructure." "The whole
idea here is that we would capture data from a large number of vehicles," Jones
said at another meeting of transportation officials in May. "That data could
then be used by public jurisdictions for traffic management purposes and also by
private industry, such as DaimlerChrysler, for the services that they wish to
provide for their customers." The plan sees the federal government
working with auto manufacturers to place the transponders in vehicles at the
factory, giving consumers little chance to drive a new car not tethered to
transportation computers. One of the program's visions is for
transportation officials to share collected data with law enforcement, meaning a
driver potentially could get a speeding ticket based on information stored in a
government computer. Proponents of the system say the safety benefits
are enormous. One goal is to virtually eliminate auto accidents by having
vehicles "communicate" with each other. Neil Schuster is president and
CEO of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America, a group of government
and business people that's the driving force behind the program. "When I
get on an airplane everyone in the system knows where I am," Schuster told
Creative Loafing. "They know which tickets I bought. You could probably go back
through United Airlines and find out everywhere I traveled in the last year. Do
I worry about that? No. We've decided that airline safety is so important that
we're going to put a transponder in every airplane and track it. We know the
passenger list of every airplane and we're tracking these things so that planes
don't crash into each other. Shouldn't we have that same sense of concern and
urgency about road travel? The average numb

DeLay Draws Third
Rebuke Ethics Panel Cites Two Situations
By Charles BabingtonWashington Post Staff
WriterThursday, October 7, 2004; Page A01

The House ethics committee last night admonished Majority Leader Tom DeLay
(R-Tex.) for asking federal aviation officials to track an airplane involved in
a Texas political spat, and for conduct that suggested political donations might
influence legislative action.
The two-pronged rebuke marked the second time in six days -- and the third
time overall -- that the ethics panel has admonished the House's second-ranking
Republican. The back-to-back chastisements are highly unusual for any lawmaker,
let alone one who aspires to be speaker, and some watchdog groups called on him
to resign his leadership post.
The ethics committee, five Republicans and five Democrats who voted
unanimously on the findings, concluded its seven-page letter to DeLay by saying:
"In view of the number of instances to date in which the committee has found it
necessary to comment on conduct in which you have engaged, it is clearly
necessary for you to temper your future actions to assure that you are in full
compliance at all times with the applicable House rules and standards of
conduct."
DeLay said in a statement that he believed the complaint "should have been
thrown out immediately," but, "I accept the committee's guidance. . . . For
years Democrats have hurled relentless personal attacks at me, hoping to tie my
hands and smear my name. All have fallen short, not because of insufficient
venom, but because of insufficient merit."
DeLay's lawyer, former representative Edwin R. "Ed" Bethune (R-Ark.), told
reporters that the committee's findings stopped far short of some of the most
serious allegations, such as bribery, contained in the complaint filed in June
by Rep. Chris Bell (D-Tex.). Bell's complaint triggered the ethics committee
investigations of DeLay.
DeLay, 57, a 10-term veteran, helped orchestrate the 1994 GOP takeover of the
House and became renowned for his bare-knuckled tactics as majority whip and an
unrivaled fundraiser. Democrats long have reviled the former exterminator from
the Houston suburb of Sugar Land, but now they are finding fodder in the
bipartisan ethics committee.
While DeLay continues to enjoy broad support within his party, some
independent analysts warned recently that another ethics rebuke could seriously
impair his ability to continue to lead the Republicans or to advance his
career.
The ethics panel faulted DeLay's actions in asking the Federal Aviation
Administration last year to help locate a private plane that Republicans thought
was carrying Texas Democratic legislators. Some Democratic lawmakers were
leaving the state to prevent a quorum that Republicans needed in Austin to pass
a bitterly disputed congressional redistricting plan engineered by DeLay.
DeLay's staff asked an FAA official to help find the plane in a bid to force the
legislators back to the capital.
The ethics report cited House rules that bar members from taking "any
official action on the basis of the partisan affiliation . . . of the
individuals involved." It noted that the FAA official later said he felt he "had
been used" for political purposes. DeLay's role in the matter "raises serious
concerns under these standards of conduct," the report said.
The redistricting plan, ultimately enacted, now threatens the reelections of
five Democratic U.S. House members from Texas. Their losses would boost the
GOP's congressional advantage and DeLay's power. Bell lost his reelection bid
earlier this year in the Democratic primary, a result of the redistricting
plans' movement of borders and voter blocs. DeLay's allies have accused him of
seeking revenge, a charge that Bell, a Houston lawyer, denies.
The committee also admonished DeLay for his dealings with top officers of
Kansas-based Westar Energy Inc. Some of the officers wrote memos in 2002 citing
their belief that $56,500 in campaign contributions to political committees
associated with DeLay and other Republicans would get them "a seat at the table"
where key legislation was being drafted.
The ethics report said lawmakers may not solicit political donations "that
may create even an appearance" that they will lead to "special treatment or
special access to the member." DeLay's participation in Westar's "golf
fundraiser at The Homestead resort on June 2-3, 2002, is objectionable in that
those actions, at a minimum, created such an improper appearance," the report
said. The golf tournament, which raised money for DeLay's political committees,
"took place just as the House-Senate conference on major energy legislation . .
. was about to get underway. . . .

Pensions Lost To
Cash Advance Scheme Cox News Service
  October 7,
  2004

ATLANTA - Three
years ago, Michael Amos of Ball Ground, Ga. read an ad in Navy
Times promoting a way for veterans to get cash advances on
  their retirements.

Amos, a master gunnery sergeant who retired in 1992 after
20 years in the Marines, earned a pension of $1,492 a month.
He was moving his family to Georgia from Tennessee and needed
money right away for a down payment on a home.
In April 2001, he signed an agreement to receive $42,500 in
exchange for eight years of his military pension. After
$4,379.50 in fees and life insurance were deducted, he
  received $38,120.50.
But over the life of the contract, Amos would have to repay
$143,284 for that $38,120.50, including $105,164 in finance
  charges.
  Those numbers represent an
annual percentage rate of 45 percent,
according to a lawsuit that Amos and two other military
veterans filed Tuesday. The lawsuit accuses two financial
companies of swindling veterans out of their pensions and
  benefits in "advance funding" scams.
"The targeting and victimization of men and women in
uniform is one of the most reprehensible acts anyone could
commit," said former Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes, one of the
  attorneys in the case.

"During a time when we should support our troops, those who
would single veterans out, charge them 40 percent to 50
percent interest and deprive them of their military pensions
should be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law," Barnes
  said Tuesday.
Amos is the lead plaintiff in the lawsuit, filed in U.S.
District Court in Atlanta. He was unavailable for comment
Tuesday because of a family illness, Barnes said.
"This is nothing but a subterfuge for a loan," Barnes said.
"There were no truth-in-lending disclosures at all."
The lawsuit seeks class-action status and a court order
against Advanced Funding Inc. of Glen Burnie, Md., and C&A
Financial Programs Inc. of Stuart, Fla. The companies, which
advertise in national military publications, try to give
potential customers the impression they are endorsed by the
  armed forces, the lawsuit said.
The plaintiffs are seeking a federal court order
prohibiting the financial companies from continuing a
"deceptive scheme" of high-interest loans to retired and
  disabled veterans without providing cost-of-credit
information. The lawsuit seeks unspecified da

that the evidence now is that there were not stockpiles of actual weapons
ready to be deployed, I hope others have the honesty to accept that the
report also shows that sanctions weren’t working" - Tony
BlairSADDAM HUSSEIN believed he could avoid the Iraq war with
a bribery strategy targeting Jacques Chirac, the President of France,
according to devastating documents released last night. Memos from
Iraqi intelligence officials, recovered by American and British
inspectors, show the dictator was told as early as May 2002 that France -
having been granted oil contracts - would veto any American plans for war.
But the Iraq Survey Group (ISG), which returned its full report
last night, said Saddam was telling the truth when he denied on the eve of
war that he had any weapons of mass destruction (WMD). He had not built
any since 1992. The ISG, who confirmed last autumn that they had
found no WMD, last night presented detailed findings from interviews with
Iraqi officials and documents laying out his plans to bribe foreign
businessmen and politicians. Although they found no evidence that
Saddam had made any WMD since 1992, they found documents which showed the
"guiding theme" of his regime was to be able to start making them again
with as short a lead time as possible." Saddam was convinced that
the UN sanctions - which stopped him acquiring weapons - were on the brink
of collapse and he bankrolled several foreign activists who were
campaigning for their abolition. He personally approved every one.
To keep America at bay, he focusing on Russia, France and China -
three of the five UN Security Council members with the power to veto war.
Politicians, journalists and diplomats were all given lavish gifts and
oil-for-food vouchers. Tariq Aziz, the former Iraqi deputy prime
minister, told the ISG that the "primary motive for French co-operation"
was to secure lucrative oil deals when UN sanctions were lifted. Total,
the French oil giant, had been promised exploration rights. Iraqi
intelligence officials then "targeted a number of French individuals that
Iraq thought had a close relationship to French President Chirac," it
said, including two of his "counsellors" and spokesman for his re-election
campaign. They even assessed the chances for "supporting one of
the candidates in an upcoming French presidential election." Chirac is not
mentioned by name. A memo sent to Saddam dated in May last year
from his intelligence corps said they met with a "French parliamentarian"
who "assured Iraq that France would use its veto in the UN Security
Council against any American decision to attack Iraq." Tony Blair,
the Prime Minister, last night said again that he was wrong to suggest
Saddam had WMD - but asked the British public to accept that Iraq would
probably have acquired such weapons if he had not acted. However,
the ISG uncovered millions of pages of documents and, after interviewing
scores of captured Iraqis - including Mr Aziz - the report lays out what
it says is were plans to end the United Nations sanctions then start to
acquire weapons. Saddam, it says, even fooled his own military
chiefs into believing that he had WMD. This was designed to deter uprising
from rebel Iraqis, on whom he deployed mustard gas in 1988, and aggressors
in the Middle East. Speaking during his trip to Ethiopia last
night, the Prime Minister referred to his speech last week where he
admitted being "wrong" in the main part of his case for war but right to
see a gathering threat in Iraq. "Just as I have had to accept that
the evidence now is that there were not stockpiles of actual weapons ready
to be deployed, I hope others have the honesty to accept that the report
also shows that sanctions weren’t working," he
  said.This article:

Waking The Left Up To Skull And Bones
By Chuck Zlatkin

The world is still here, so I can continue to wonder about how my
friends, who once agonized about having to vote for John Kerry, and are
now happy about voting for him. I think when you have the need to be on
the winning side against Bush; you can even convince yourself that you
really like him. Kerry supported the war in Iraq, along with NAFTA,
GATT, the WTO, the Patriot Act, Homeland Security, the
Telecommunications Act of 1996 and so on and so forth. Kerry is called a
liberal as Clinton was, but really he follows the Democratic Leadership
Council line. That line was once called Republican. It will be a heavy
price to pay when John Kerry,s version of anybody but Bush, turns out to
be surprisingly close to the original.
I will assume that you are really knowledgeable about the issues. I am
confused as to how are you not terribly concerned about the fact that
both George W. Bush and John F. Kerry are blood brothers in the most
exclusive secret society?
The Skull and Bones Society admits only fifteen new members each year.
So if you figure that the average new member is 21 years old when tapped
there can,t even be as many as 800 living members in the world.
What is the population of the United States now? According to the Census
Bureau PopClock at http://www.census.gov/main/www/popclock.html the
current population is 294,423,981.
Do you really think that the odds would point to the two presidential
candidates coming from the same secret society with not even 800 living
members?
When I talk to people about this I always ask them how much they really
know about the Skull and Bones Society? They usually say not that much.
Most people that I know are left of center and so am I. But being left
of center didn,t stop me from reading "Fleshing Out Skull and Bones:
Investigation Into America,s Most Powerful Secret Societies by Antony
Sutton, Howard Altman, Kris Milligan, Dr Ralph Bunch, Anton Chaitkin &
Webster Griffin Tarpley, Edited by Kris Milligan. Published 2003.

Last night Norman "Nobody Sommer called me. He is the founder and
president of the Umbrella Movement to Counteract the Right. Its web site
is www.therightiswrong.us and you might see why what he has to say
interests me (at least Alan Colmes credited me when he lifted my name).
Sommer claims he got the phrase from his granddaughter and it was all
innocent. As Sommer pitched me to get involved with his movement, I got
into conversation with him about Kerry. Sommer is an erudite,
politically astute gentleman. But when I asked him how much he knew
about the Skull and Bones society, he mentioned that he didn,t know
much. I,m going to send him a copy of Milligan,s book.
When it comes to understanding who the powers-that-be are and what they
do, I have found much valuable information from the work of Alex Jones.
Jones uncovers plenty. He filmed inside the Bohemian Grove compound
showing all the world what depravity goes on there. I would recommend
going to Alex Jones two websites www.infowars.com and
www.prisonplanet.com to witness for yourself what Jones make available
to you. I would also suggest seeing "American Dictators by Alex Jones
and Kevin Booth. In this videotape Jones makes a strong argument that we
are a lot further along the road to fascism than most of us want to admit.
Alex Jones is a broadcaster out of Austin, Texas. I,m afraid that too
many people on the left are unable to hear what Jones is telling them.
Alex Jones is a 2nd Amendment, anti-abortion, United Nations-fearing,
Christian patriot. He also is unrelenting in his quest for the truth
about those who wish to enslave us. Jones,s personal beliefs didn't stop
Cynthia McKinney from respecting him for the truth that he has
unearthed, and it doesn,t stop me, either.
I would submit to you that requiring people to pass litmus tests before
we allow them to share truth with us, is a true failing of much of the
left. I remember when "George Bush: The Unauthorized Biography by
Webster G. Tarpley and Anton Chaitkin was originally published, many
people on the left doubted the work or ignored it completely because of
the authors rumored association with Lyndon Larouche. How foolish.
Tarpley and Chaitkin,s work was groundbreaking. You can check it out for
yourself. It is available for free on the web at
http://www.tarpley.net/bushb.htm and by the way Lyndon Larouche is
supporting Kerry.
I haven,t really changed, in the sense that I still feel much more
comfortable with sources from the left. But what am I supposed to do
when Noam Chomsky, Ronnie Dugger, Barbara Ehrenreich, Richard Falk, Jim
Hightower, Saul Landau, Michael Lerner, Manning Marable, Robert
McChesney, Marcus Raskin, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Studs Terkel,
Harvey Wasserman, and Howard Zinn have all joined the Kerry for
President movement?
I have been predicting that Kerry would be
