With all due respect, Reverend, I think you are confused on a number of
key issues. The Republican party has championed the idea of trying to
impose the Christian fundamentalist agenda on the country. It is
President Bill Clinton who has tried bring some measure of diversity to
the political process ( his willingness to appoint gays and women to key
 positions in government).

Nope, no confusion here. I'm not backing either the Republicans or
Democrats, so I'm not stuck in the position of having to attack Clinton
because I hate Democrats, nor do I feel obligated to defend Clinton because I
hate Republicans. I think both sides have heads firmly placed in their
collective ass. Let them fight out their territorial battles in an adult
version of "Shirts Skins", I'll simply sit in the sidelines and shout my
opinions until I loose my voice or I'm dragged away by security.
As for Clinton the Crusader, isn't this is the same guy who refused to force
the military to conform to Discrimination Laws by allowing gays to join, but
instead passed the absurd "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy? Didn't he also fire
someone on his cabinet (Surgeon General, perhaps? My memory fails to recall
her name and position at the moment) for suggesting that facts about
masturbation be taught in school sex education classes to help prevent
teenagers from having sex at a young age? (Not the greatest approach, I grant
you, but it certainly couldn't do any harm...) And lets not forget his
crusade against tobacco companies, which might eventually lead to outlawing
tobacco products? Hiring gays is fine and dandy, but not allowing them to
enjoy the same benifits has hetero couples simply because they fall into a
minority is far from helping personal freedom.
Just some more thoughts...

Cuddling my Furby in an impure manner,
Rev. S. Michael Wilson

[CTRL] A Fresh Look At Clinton

1998-12-17 Thread Reverend S. Michael Wilson
 no one but
themselves), take away our families and possessions, and make sure that our
lives are completely miserable because we have gone against their will. That
will teach us.
So, when it comes to this whole ordeal with Bill Clinton, I say that we hang
him out to dry. After all, he is the head of our government, the same
government that has seen fit to destroy the lives of those of us who dare to
go beyond what they have decided is good and right and moral for ourselves.
He is the leader of a country that eagerly victimises those that have
victimised no one, and therefor I don’t see why he should be treated any
different. Granted, it may not be fair to ruin his life and his political
career merely because he got screwing around with a secretary. But then, I
don’t think the punishments bestowed upon any of the others I mentioned above
were particularly fair either. Perhaps revenge isn’t the best policy, and
maybe two wrongs don’t make a right, and I’ll even concede that all we’ll be
doing is stooping down to the government’s level. But you’ve got to make a
point somewhere, and if our nation and our government can’t see the millions
of people who are forced to suffer cruel injustice and humiliation at the
hands of the self-righteous and holier-than-thou, then perhaps striking down
someone as high as our President will catch their attention.
Who knows, maybe that will teach us.

A strange hero to a select few,
The Irreverent Reverend S. Michael Wilson

What with all the enthusiasm on this list for impeaching Clinton, I'm
curious who you would prefer to see occupying the presidential
 office:

Gore? Livingston? George Bush, Jr.? Trent Lott? Pataki? DeLay?
 Other?

And why do you think your choice would be an improvement?
 sno0wl

Is it too late to get Perot in there? That crazy sonofabitch would give
everybody something to talk about, eh?

Re: [CTRL] Fwd: DNA Sample with Every Arrest

NEW YORK (AP) -- Angering civil libertarians who fear ``1984''-style
tactics,
Police Commissioner Howard Safir is suggesting that police take a DNA sample
along with the fingerprints of everyone arrested.

``The innocent have nothing to fear,'' Safir said Monday. ``Only if you are
guilty should you worry about DNA testing.''

Innocence, of course, being in the eye of the oppressor. Those who commit
what have become known as "Consensual Crimes" (drug use, prostitution,
gambling, ets...) are not guilty of harming others, or using others, or
victimizing others in any way. They are quilty only of not conforming to the
laws of the land, regardless of how unjust or unrealistic they are. Yes, the
innocent have nothing to fear. But no one is truly innocent, and as is
becoming increasingly apparent, no one is truly free.
