It purports to originate from Navy intelligence. "Com-12" is the head of one faction of the intelligence community fighting to defend the Constitution against the "bad guy" element among the spooks called "Aquarius". It gives a lot of the particulars about the struggle of the Cabazon Indians to shed their white administrative leaders, the subsequent grisly murders and the Cabazon/Wackenhut venture. It includes the story of Danny Casolaro, with many particulars Casolaro never got to, like the Black Rose Organization and the Yellow Lodge. The new book, Inside The Gemstone File, should be available by the BookExpo in Los Angeles, first week of may. I'll be at BookExpo to help promote it. Belin, a prominent Des Moines attorney who served as a top investigator to the Warren Commission, died Sunday from head injuries suffered in a fall in a Minnesota hotel room. He was 70. Belin, born in the nation's capital, moved to Des Moines in 1954 and began practicing law. In 1978, he and other lawyers founded the firm that would eventually become Belin Lamson McCormick Zumbach Flynn, where he served as a senior partner until his death. Belin's public service included an appointment to serve as counsel to the Warren Commission, which investigated President John F. Kennedy's assassination. He wrote two books on the subject, including ``Final Disclosure'' in 1988. In 1991, Belin defended the Warren Commission's work against attacks made in the Oliver Stone movie ``JFK.'' Belin called the film ``a big lie that would make Adolf Hitler proud.'' Belin also served as executive director to the Rockefeller Commission, which investigated CIA activities within the United States. -Caveat Lector- In shorthand: certain multi-generational copies of the Z film seem to show the driver, William Greer, turning and shooting JFK with a .45. Other prints, most recently the digitally enhanced version on the "Image of an Assassination" video, show clearly that this is not happening. The provenance and the extent of tampering with even the original print of the Z film is still hotly debated in the research community, however. Add this to the fact that Greer does slow the car down during the time of the shooting and that photos exist of an FBI man picking up a .45 slug on the opposite side of Elm just after the hit, and you can see why the driver-did-it theory still circulates. The person who originally set out to investigate this, Lars Hanssen, ultimately decided it was wrong. The person who popularized the theory, William Cooper, apparently still believes it is right. He and Jackie later had an affair, according to author Edward Klein. the limo driver seems to have been inordinately slow in deciding to get their collective asses out of there, This is also established by the brake lights coming on. Besides, if the driver DID shoot, why didn't Jackie or either of the Connallys notice it? Who was it that testified in the trial that Connally said, as the shots were being fired, "My God! They're going to kill us ALL!" ...as opposed to just the one guy who had been set up to be shot.
