I also remember the study. I believe that the color pink was used in the
holding cell of a jail. This was an area where prisoners were kept when
they first were brought in while waiting to be processed. It was
observed that in most cases the prisoners were much less violent after a
short period in this particular cell. However, I believe I remember that
one prisoner was held there for several hours inadvertently (supposedly)
and was so effected by the color that he was trying to scrape the paint
off the walls.

My understanding of color would be that the red side of the spectrum is
stimulating and the blue side relaxing. However, it could be that the
color pink had just a small amount of the stimulation effect and acted
as a sedative in the same way that a small amount of drug stimulants
such as Ritalin can cause relaxation in people who are stressed. Long
exposure would cause one to cycle back into stimulation.

I just knew there was something eerily wrong with the whole Teletubbies
phenomena. Thank you so much for this insight. I'll be sure to pass it
on to my friends who have also had similar bad feelings about the show.

I remember reading a study back in the 80s about physical/psychological
reactions to colors. Subjects were placed in rooms painted solidly with various
colors. Pink stands out in my mind for some unknown reason. It produces a
calming effect...for a short period of time. After about 15 minutes of sitting
in the pink room, most subjects would be come agitated.

Perhaps some other readers of the list have better information. I haven't seen
this information since back then.

Really? I remember the study, unless there was more than one, in which
pink was actually found to have a calming influence over time; especially
in regards to prison populations. I'm not sure there were ever any
experimental replications. Could be wrong on both accounts.

[CTRL] [MC] and EVIL TELETUBBIES

1999-05-09 Thread Andrew Hennessey

 -Caveat Lector-

the Evil Teletubbies and Remote Mind Control.
please forward to the MC list for comment

In case those on the other side of the pond don't know, the Teletubbies are
the UKs most popular childrens programme see:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/education/teletubbies/
There are toys, videos, cds, calenders etc etc etc.
The Teletubbies are 4 innocuous looking little aliens with tv sets in their
tummies. They constantly receive instructions from some central transmiitter
which they receive through the big ariels on their head.
Their perpetual play in this utopia of flowers and innocence is curatiled
at the end of the programme by an ominous looking bit of hardware suddenly
poking up through the grass and flowers telling them to stop playing
and get to bed.
The themes they explore are asexual eg. the male teletubby wearing a skirt
and playing the 'round and round' game, the pink energies from the central
transmitter hypnotically swirled before my eyes and I actually felt a
physical sense of relaxation as I watched [I'm not prone to this]
The eyes of the teletubbies are wide and innocent and the childlike god
of the sun looks down upon the spirits at play in the well monitored and
controlled utopia.
Children are being indoctrinated into accepting remote instructions.
