I can believe that minorities are targeted, there is lots of information that
does not prove this, but hints very hard at it. I don't know about your
statement that a large number are innocent, that would be very hard to prove.
This argument that criminals do not deserve the basic rights as everyone
else is disgusting.
Many get more, much more than basic rights. Many get a chance to go to
college. I had to pay to go to college and still owe a bundle of money for
it, why should they get it for free when they broke the law and I did not.
First many that are convicted are innocent just as many who are executed
are in fact innocent. Secondly there is a thing called rehabilitation, and
even though the system itself does nothing to rehabilitate people, many
reform in spite of the mechanisms that attempt to prevent that.
You sound like a bleeding heart, or you are an ex-con yourself.
Rehabilitation is not an answer, punishment is. These people chose to break
the law and should have to pay the price, but they don't ... the taxpayer
does. Incarceration is very expensive and could be spent on better things
rather than to confine those who choose not to fit into society.
I don't feel sorry for criminals, think about the suffering they impose on
others, their victims. They take property, beat people and even kill them
many times without regret ... regret that they got caught, but not regret for
their victims.
Criminals also get a break ... more breaks than they deserve. There should
be no paroles, there should not be so many unwarranted appeals. When they
are sentenced to life ... they should die in prison, not get out in seven
years. When they get the death penalty, it should be carried out one day
later ... not letting them stay in prison 10-15 years till they can get a
bleeding heart judge to commute their sentence to life in prison, or let then
get away with murder altogether. What color or race they are should not
matter, they have proven they cannot live in society in a peaceful manner and
should be taken from the general populace to make life safer for the majority
of citizens who control their behavior.
As far as some laws being unjust ... yes some are, but there are ways to
change them.
