I doubt you have any idea what principles guide a true American
Conservative. Your shallow rhetoric repeats the party line of the
NeoCon Gang (mostly former Marxists or Corporate Socialists).

But what can you expect from someone whose only source
of information is the World Net Daily.

Ah, come on Rough Rider: put your monocle in and get a sense of humour!

There are so many definitions of so many different words that I'm not sure
anyone knows for sure what they mean. When there are statements made
without a common frame of reference and no supporting definitions or
references to overcome this deficiency in communication, their use
become pointless and meaningless. And this goes for so-called "party"
designations, as well. I don't think a Democrat or Republican from one
coast is the same thing as on the other coast ... might have something to
do with where they are and the regional needs.

"Left" and "Right" came out of the trans- / post-Revolutionary period in
France (their revolution) and some pseudosophisticate decided he or she
needed some "Continental" lingo to make them sound cultured.

"Liberal" and "Conservative"have gotten so far off the mark that they are
meaningless. A true "Conservative" would be one who held to the intent of
the Constitution as it was originally written and interpreted by those who
wrote it. A "Liberal" ("leftie") would then be one who tried to be loose in
translation and interpretation and therefore agree to forgoing the
proscription to engaging in foreign entanglements and supporting pre-
emptive wars. So, all these "compassionate Conservatives" are really "busy-
body Liberals".

As far as "wits" are concerned, I knew someone who had lost theirs once
upon a time and I tried to help find them. But ... no one could ever
describe one to me so - alas - I had to give up ...

Anti-War Protests
Have Big Price TagsTuesday,
March 18,
2003SEATTLE — Large
anti-war protests come with a hefty price tag.Money
is needed to rent or buy stages, sound systems, permits and portable toilets,
and tabs often run as high as $200,000 per demonstration — much more than the
average grassroots peace group will ever have in its coffers. So who is picking up the tab?"The
major anti-U.S. government demonstrations are organized by people who have been
around for a long time, particularly the Workers World Party, which has existed
for more than 30 years now and has always supported the enemies of the United
States," said Herbert Romerstein, a retired agent of the U.S. Information
Agency.The
Workers World Party describes itself as Marxist in nature.Officially,
protest organizers are groups such as Not in Our Name and International
A.N.S.W.E.R., but the demonstration's sponsors have long histories of backing
anti-government
causes.Not
in Our Name is financed by the Interreligious Foundation for Community
Organization. I.F.C.O. is a million-dollar-a-year non-profit that supports Cuban
dictator Fidel Castro and once sponsored a group headed by Sami Al-Arian — the
University of South Florida professor being charged with fundraising for
terrorist organizations Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.A.N.S.W.E.R.
is an offshoot of the International Action Center, which intelligence officials
say is a front for the Worker's World Party. A.N.S.W.E.R. canceled a scheduled
interview with Fox News but a worker in the Seattle field office acknowledged
there are ties."There
are some Workers World Party members in A.N.S.W.E.R.," said A.N.S.W.E.R.
coordinator Jim
McMahan.The
International Action Center was founded by former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey
Clark, who is a longtime public face of the anti-war movement. The
Workers World Party supports North Korea's brutal regime and I.F.C.O. defied
U.N. sanctions when it made a trip to Iraq in the mid-1990s. Now, both are sugar
daddies to the anti-war movement."The
American people have the right to know whether stooges of [North Korean leader]
Kim Jong Il or Castro or Saddam Hussein are involved in these demonstrations,"
Romerstein said.The
groups bankrolling these protests say they're spending their money the way
donors would want, and protest organizers say it doesn't matter where the money
comes from — the message is their own.Others
wonder if knowing the fringe politics of the people paying the bills might keep
some demonstrators off the streets.But
anti-war organizers — regardless of their financial backing — are plugging ahead
and are actually planning more aggressive action that they say will be hard to
ignore, despite the fact that the United States is on the brink of war with
Iraq."People
will step up their actions, there will be active civil disobedience," said
Simona Sharoni of United for Peace in Thurston County, Wash.Direct
Action, a San Francisco Bay-area group of anti-war veterans, has been drawing up
their own battle plan should there be a war. They
say they will shut down 70 targets in San Francisco alone, including power
plants, water systems, the Federal Reserve, oil companies, the Pacific Exchange
and the Transamerica Building.And
their hit list goes beyond economic targets. Some
protesters are promising to chain themselves to fences at schools and day care
centers so working parents will have to stay home from their jobs. Organizers
say this will give others a chance to contemplate how war affects the children
of Iraq."The
civilians in Iraq are losing their lives and one day of work is worth a thousand
lives," said Leone Reinbold, an anti-war activist in San Francisco.Reinbold
helped organize the World Trade Organization protest in Seattle three years ago.
She blames the violence and damage on anarchists from the radical fringe, not
the mainstream
demonstrators.All
the same, police departments from coast to coast know that keeping things
peaceful won't be
easy."We

Yeah, I think you forgot to mention that Ron Paul is against this war, and
even GHWB has warned against unilateralism. I could list a number of other
conservatives against the war, but why bother? Instead of listening to the
neo-cons and thinking you're conservative, Ray, you might try listening to
the *real* conservatives, who unfortunately number very few these days.
Dubya campaigned on making the fed smaller and not intervening in foreign
entanglements. But Cheney and his cabinet, Rumsfeld, Perle, Wolfowitz among
them, had other ideas. They want, and now have, a Wilsonian policy, and
coupled with very weak and arrogant dimplomacy, it's become isolationist and
expansionist at the same time. This is not conservative according to a lot
of true conservatives. It's antithetical to the Constitution and to the
Founders' intentions. It's imperialism.

Remember how angry Eisenhower was at the British and the French for
attacking Egypt in the '50s? Remember?

You know, I am SO sick of these knee-jerk reactionaries who have the gall
to label anyone anti-war as somehow "Anti-American." Unthinking sheep like
the author of this original post (who I'll ask to kindly QUIT SHOUTING)
should be ashamed to call himself an American.

REAL Americans don't go after gnats with howitzers; they believe in
fairness, justice, helping others (not murdering a quarter of a million of
their children); they believe in democracy, and thus dissent, which entails
questioning the incredibly misguided decisions of their "leaders"
(particularly when those "leaders" are unelected crooks)... REAL Americans
believe in Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, NOT Power at Any
Cost, Ruling the World, and the Pursuit of Profit over lives and global
justice.

Clearly, there are those on this list in dire need of a strong dose of
TRUTH. Here's a version of "America's Illegal Invasion of Iraq for
Dummies"; let it remove the blinders from your eyes:

March 17, 2003

Endgame

A BUZZFLASH EDITORIAL

It's the endgame of a mad, politically calculated war. From the beginning,
everyone's agreed that Saddam Hussein is a bad man, almost a prototype for
a villain in a James Bond Film.

But that's where the agreement stopped. The Bush Cartel, for a variety of
politically and financially calculated reasons, decided that a war that
could cost thousands of lives and billions of dollars was of strategic
importance to its world domination game plan -- and to a second term for
George W. Bush.

The corporate media -- for reasons of financial interest combined with
sheer ineptitude -- enabled and facilitated a rush to war that was
transparently self-serving for the Chickenhawks in the White House. The
Democrats, as usual, allowed the Grand Hypocrisy Party (GHP) to define the
issue in such a way that it marginalized any dissent. This despite the fact
that the Bush Cartel brazenly used lies and shifting justifications to mask
the real reasons for the war.

In the end, Bush is going to war for two reasons. First of all, the Iraq
war offers him and his Vietnam service evading administration many
political positives from their perspective, including (but not limited to):

1. The permanent war public relations strategy is, in large part, aimed at
keeping any of the numerous Bush domestic disasters off of the political
table. War supersedes even an economy down the tubes.

2. Keeping the threat of terror simmering on the burner through ginned up
and meaningless terror alerts scares Americans into supporting Bush,
because they seemingly have no option, since they believe they are under a
constant terrorist threat. This leads to a sort of "Stockholm Syndrome" for
the nation as a whole. Most Americans look to their psychological tormentor
for protection from an outside threat perceived as the more serious of two
evils.

3. A war in Iraq offers almost bottomless billion-dollar profiteering
opportunities for Bush Cartel campaign contributors and Bush administration
officials. Halliburton, the Carlyle Group, etc. are all set to reap big
financial benefits from the destruction of the Iraq infrastructure. Blow
the country up with bombs paid for by taxpayers -- and then use taxpayer
dollars to pay campaign contributors and companies with connections to
administration officials to rebuild it. A nice scam if you got a railroad
car on the gravy train.

4. By using a brutal, thuggish "diplomacy" -- including threats, bribes and
intimidation -- the Bush Cartel has alienated the populations of almost
every nation in the world. It has managed to lure a few "leaders" into the
alliance of the unwilling with a combination of inducements worthy of a
crime family, but created a hostile reaction in almost every country. Why
does the seemingly disastrous result actually benefit the Bush Cartel?
Because they want to see the United Nations sink into the East River. They
don't want anybody but the Bush Cartel Chickenhawks calling the
international shots. Sayonara, U.N., and good riddance. That's what the
Bush administration fanatics want -- and they are on the verge of achieving
their goal.

5. Through the financial "inducements" the Bush administration has offered
some nations to support the war, they have found an ingenious way to pay
back campaign contributors. Take Poland, for instance. The Bush
administration gives Poland six billion dollars in taxpayer money (which
would be okay if it were for improving the lot of Polish citizens). What
will Poland use the money for, according to a New York Times article? Why,
to buy six billion dollars worth of fighter jets from Lockheed-Martin.

6. The assertion of raw, brute, power -- in the form of sophisticated
killing war technology -- is meant to intimidate all of the nations of the
world, not just our enemies. It is also meant to bully dissenters at home
into submission. Since Democratic leaders usually cower when the Bush
Cartel barks, it is, addition

Are you afraid of

think any more than right wing fascists. Most extremists got that way by NEVER

I have never seen a greater concentration of intellectually blinded, irrational, gutless humans in my life than the majority of those who so consistently post their leftist tripe on this list.

For those of you who are reasonable, and who are concerned about this nation and the safety of its citizens, please help counter the hate-America, leftist offal flung up here in such heaps.

Anti-War Protests Have Big Price Tags

Tuesday, March 18, 2003

SEATTLE?—?Large anti-war protests come with a hefty price tag.

Money is needed to rent or buy stages, sound systems, permits and portable toilets, and tabs often run as high as $200,000 per demonstration — much more than the average grassroots peace group will ever have in its coffers.

So who is picking up the tab?

"The major anti-U.S. government demonstrations are organized by people who have been around for a long time, particularly the Workers World Party, which has existed for more than 30 years now and has always supported the enemies of the United States," said Herbert Romerstein, a retired agent of the U.S. Information Agency.

The Workers World Party describes itself as Marxist in nature.

Officially, protest organizers are groups such as Not in Our Name and International A.N.S.W.E.R., but the demonstration's sponsors have long histories of backing anti-government causes.

Not in Our Name is financed by the Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization. I.F.C.O. is a million-dollar-a-year non-profit that supports Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and once sponsored a group headed by Sami Al-Arian — the University of South Florida professor being charged with fundraising for terrorist organizations Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

A.N.S.W.E.R. is an offshoot of the International Action Center, which intelligence officials say is a front for the Worker's World Party. A.N.S.W.E.R. canceled a scheduled interview with Fox News but a worker in the Seattle field office acknowledged there are ties.

"There are some Workers World Party members in A.N.S.W.E.R.," said A.N.S.W.E.R. coordinator Jim McMahan.

The International Action Center was founded by former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark, who is a longtime public face of the anti-war movement.

The Workers World Party supports North Korea's brutal regime and I.F.C.O. defied U.N. sanctions when it made a trip to Iraq in the mid-1990s. Now, both are sugar daddies to the anti-war movement.

"The American people have the right to know whether stooges of [North Korean leader] Kim Jong Il or Castro or Saddam Hussein are involved in these demonstrations," Romerstein said.

The groups bankrolling these protests say they're spending their money the way donors would want, and protest organizers say it doesn't matter where the money comes from — the message is their own.

Others wonder if knowing the fringe politics of the people paying the bills might keep some demonstrators off the streets.

But anti-war organizers — regardless of their financial backing — are plugging ahead and are actually planning more aggressive action that they say will be hard to ignore, despite the fact that the United States is on the brink of war with Iraq.

"People will step up their actions, there will be active civil disobedience," said Simona Sharoni of United for Peace in Thurston County, Wash.

Direct Action, a San Francisco Bay-area group of anti-war veterans, has been drawing up their own battle plan should there be a war.

They say they will shut down 70 targets in San Francisco alone, including power plants, water systems, the Federal Reserve, oil companies, the Pacific Exchange and the Transamerica Building.

And their hit list goes beyond economic targets.

Some protesters are promising to chain themselves to fences at schools and day care centers so working parents will have to stay home from their jobs. Organizers say this will give others a chance to contemplate how war affects the children of Iraq.

"The civilians in Iraq are losing their lives and one day of work is worth a thousand lives," said Leone Reinbold, an anti-war activist in San Francisco.

Reinbold helped organize the World Trade Organization protest in Seattle three years ago. She blames the violence and damage on anarchists from the radical fringe, not the mainstream demonstrators.

All the same, police departments from coast to coast know that keeping things peaceful won't be easy.

"We know based on the last one that each preceding demonstration has been a little bit more volatile than the one before," said Deputy Chief Greg Suhr of the San Francisco Police Department.

Some protestors are vowing to bring traffic to a standstill, as they recently did on a Seattle bridge. But many wonder if paralyzing the morning commute and engaging in similar disruptions will win converts or make enemies of people losing patience with their tactics.
