An image? An image of what? A jpeg image? GIF?
What image are you trying to copy to a USB device? I "sorta" assume
that when you properly mount / install / insert the USB key under
Windows (XP, right?), it shows up as some sort of disk? It's
probably already formatted with a FAT-type filesystem of a specific
type and size for that device.

You should be able to copy files onto the device just
like you would copy files onto a floppy. Under XP, if you only
have 1 hard disk and 1 CD/DVD drive, they are probably "C" and "D".
If this is the first extra "drive" (or USB key) you've attached to
your system, XP will probably use "E", "F" or "G". You should be
able to see it with the rest of your drives if you open "My Computer".

For sake of discussion, lets say it mapped the USB key's "drive"
to "G:". Under cygwin with a standard setup, you should be able to
access the drive with /cygdrive/g

Is this what you wanted?

setrlimit(RLIMIT_CPU) isn't implemented in Cygwin.

Ulimit under cygwin

2007-05-22 Thread sabbella
Hi,
 I have problems with a function in my shell script. It contains
commands to set the soft and hard ulimits. This works fine on Linux. But
I have problems on cygwin. I tried to change the soft and hard ulimits

I get the following error message.
"ulimit : cpu time: file size:cannot modify limit : invalid argument".

If I can't modify the ulimit under cygwin, please can you suggest me
with an alternative.

Here is the function:

 function time_or_fail ()
 {
  timeit_name="$1"; shift
  date_and_load
  # Set Hard ulimit 10 seconds longer than soft ulimit, so that
$timeprog
 itself is likely to survive.
  local -i this_soft_ulimit="${ULIMIT:=4000} * ${MACHINE_SLOWNESS:=2}"
  local -i this_hard_ulimit="${this_soft_ulimit} + 10"
  ( ulimit -H -t ${this_hard_ulimit}; ulimit -S -t ${this_soft_ulimit};
 $timeprog -f '%U %S %e %P' -o timeit.$$ "$@" )
  timeit_rv=$?
   return $timeit_rv
 }

 Regards,
 Sabbella

This should finally be fixed in CVS. Please give the next developers

procps uses /proc to retrieve process information. Non-Cygwin processes
don't show up in /proc.

The Cygwin ps allows to watch Windows processes also (with -W). Is
that possible for procps, too?

Brilliant. That solves my problem and the package is now working fime on
cygwin and linux.

I have been off the list for a long while until recenty.

I guess procps is new compared with when I asked about this before years
ago.
