GeoIP-database, and installing everything else, the installer hang at

/etc/postinstall/0p_000_autorebase.dash

Fwd: geoip-database preremove stall for long time

2018-05-11 Thread Sharuzzaman Ahmat Raslan
Hi,

I run Cygwin update today, and found out that GeoIP-database preremove
step stall for a long time.

I have cancel the process, and tried to remove the GeoIP-database
package, but it stall at the same step again.

Any guidance on how to determine what cause the stall?

 I just want Aisleriot games running in my Cygwin setup (xfce2) but can't
 find that dll that it needs anywhere in the Gnuwin downloads at
 Sourceforge.
 Any chance you could just email it to me?
 Will I hit any more dependancies?

Also GTK-only for Xfce.
Looks like support may be available on KDE, but nothing obvious under Cygwin for
gnome-games, solitaire (US term - non-US peg game), or aisleriot.
The KDE equivalent appears to be Patience (non-US term) which is in Cygwin
package kpat.

Looks like aisleriot may have been available via Cygwin ports at one time, is
available on many Linux distros, and in the OpenDesktop KDE Store.
There is also Python/Tk package pysol, with a PySol Fan Club fork pysolfc
available on many Linux distros, from https://github.com/shlomif/PySolFC .

If it's still supported, using Cygwin setup to reinstall libkdegames1,
libkdegames6, and kdegames3. There are aisleriot files in libkdegames1, but no
cyggdkcardimage dll, although it could have been combined into cygkdegames dll.

I do not see any obvious issue, sorry.
May be xwin-xdg-menu needs need a font you don't have

Try with strace to see what is trying to do/open before the segfault

DISPLAY=:0 strace -o /tmp/xwin-xdg-menu.strace /usr/bin/xwin-xdg-menu.exe

segfault in xwin-xdg-menu.exe

2018-05-11 Thread Fabio Rossi
I have just made a fresh cygwin installation on windows 10 pro 32bit using
setup 2.891. I have selected xorg-server, xinit, vim and gdb packages. I have
modified the Xwin server configuration as described in
https://x.cygwin.com/docs/faq/cygwin-x-faq.html#q-startxwinrc-exit and later I
have successfully started it by using the action "cygwin-x\xwin server" under
Windows programs menu. The X server is running with display :0.0 and its icon
is visible in the tray bar.

On another system installed months ago I have the xdg menu application already
running (it's automatically started by the xwin startup script) but I didn't
need to follow the above mentioned trick described in the FAQ.

In a cygwin terminal I then try starting manually xwin-xdg-menu by using:

$ DISPLAY=:0 xwin-xdg-menu.exe

but I get a segmentation fault. With gdb I get the following backtrace:

$ DISPLAY=:0 gdb xwin-xdg-menu.exe
