Hi Team,
Can someone reply to this question ?
How would I know which are the 3rd party dlls ?? I have installed the
packages from the Cygwin website only.

Thanks,
Harie

Assuming you haven't built any yourself, you'd have to look for these.
There are tools out there that are built using Cygwin and depend on
cygwin1.dll but don't come from cygwin.com. In a rough approximation
of a brute force approach (assuming you can't more intelligently determine
a good list to investigate), you can search for all *.dll files on your
system and run each through 'cygcheck' looking for 'cygwin1.dll' in the
output. Any that you find that aren't from the packages you installed
(under your Cygwin root directory) would be the ones you need to consider.
From a practical standpoint, if you're seeing the problem now, the
problematic DLL(s) would be loaded so you can certainly limit what you
look at to those apps that are currently running (or would run when you
see the problem).

Rebasing doesn't need to be performed by all users or continually.  Run
it if you have these remap problems and with any user for which it is
successful.  When it's not successful, the usual reason is that you
have some Cygwin process running.  Read the README and follow the

I am facing this errors intermittently (i.e. once or twice in 4 to 5

repository and only on WINDOWS 7 and not on WINDOWS XP . Am using the
latest version of Cygwin and its working absolutely fine on Windows XP
even with Symantec End Point Protection and LANDesk enabled. I
disabled them on Windows 7 and tried. Still nogo.

I am guessing this is related to ASLR feature of Windows 7 after going
through all the forums. Hence I have tried disabling ASLR, DEP using
registry and bcdedit keys. Rebaseall and peflagsall gives a success
only when run as administrator. With normal user , i get these errors

# peflagsall

Ah, sorry. I missed that. BTW, it was just the same Python-related problem.

I have made rebaseall as you and Igor suggested and Python application
started to work correctly, but Apache daemon could not start after that

seems that rebase procedure is dangerous sometimes... Is it the bug or

Perhaps a bug. But we'd need more information about the problem to be
sure. 'rebaseall' is designed to fix DLL load collision problems, not
create them.

python script recently started getting unable to remap error on cygssl from popen2

2003-03-24 Thread Mark Moraes
Hi.

Since 1.3.19, I've been seeing this error sporadically
from a script that had been working fine till then.
It only appears with ssl so far -- various other DLLs
seem to work fine. (removing the call to import socket
removes the problem).

This is under Windows 2000, SP3.

Any ideas -- the archives have references to rebasing
libraries, any pointers to how I can do that (and whether
this needs to be done to python's _socket.dll or to
cygssl?)

Thanks,
Mark.

This is under Windows 2000, SP3.

Any ideas -- the archives have references to rebasing
libraries, any pointers to how I can do that (and whether
this needs to be done to python's _socket.dll or to
 cygssl?)

Mark,

Rebasing all of your Cygwin DLL's *should* fix this. If you don't have the
rebase package installed install it via setup.exe and follow this (taken
from the rebase README):

Use the following procedure to rebase your entire system:

1. shutdown all Cygwin processes
2. start bash (do not use rxvt)
3. execute rebaseall (in the bash window)

Once you've follwed these steps things should work.
