I'm sorry guys. Thank you for taking a look at the problem Igor. Chris, I can't figure out what's wrong with the package. It does look like the package version part of the file names is 2.5.0-4 on some files rather than 2.5.0-1. Would this cause the external-source problem? In my setup download directory from mirrors.rcn.net, I have xerces-c-2.5.0-1.tar.bz2 and xerces-c-2.5.0-1-src.tar.bz2, while the rest of the archives (devel, doc, and libxerces-c25) are 2.5.0-4. On my website, they are all 2.5.0-1. Thanks! -Abe -Original Message- Igor, I wasn't looking for programming help or someone to track down an unknown problem. This is a packaging problem pure and simple. The source files are missing. There is nothing you or I can do to fix it. It requires the package maintainer to make a decision. cgf But that's exactly what I don't understand: AFAICS, in http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin-apps/2004-02/msg00192.html, Abe *did* include a correctly named source package. Didn't it get uploaded? Or am I totally off the mark?
RE: xerces-c package problem
Great, thank you Daniel! :) -Original Message- I just renamed the files, pulled libxerces-c23's setup.hint* (with its external-source pointing to the now-non-existent xerces-c-2.3.0-4), and moved it back into the tree. * (The other deprecated libxerces-c* packages all were setup.hintless)

The libsmi package was only containing the readme files and not much else (it was around 30 KiB). Now that we have a DLL we could change this to be: libsmi (docs, exes, mibs, etc.), libsmi2 (contains the DLL), and libsmi-devel (includes and link libs). I have some previous packages that I have done this for and I could do it for this package as well (the process consists of copying a few lines into the build script and tweaking a few other lines). Here are my files: cut here -- #!/bin/bash wget \ http://msu.edu/~huntharo/cygwin/release/libsmi/libsmi-0.4.1-1.tar.bz2 wget \ http://msu.edu/~huntharo/cygwin/release/libsmi/libsmi-0.4.1-1-src.tar.bz2 cut here -- I think these changes really improve the package, but I admit that it is not 100% complete yet. Feel free to do with these changes as you want to. Harold

Updated: uw-imap, c-client
1) Updated the patch that was attempting to make CRAM-MD5 authentication work. The original patch that I had in there was copying the wrong string in one place (e.g. it was copying the password instead of the username), so CRAM-MD5 authentication probably shouldn't have been working in some cases. 2) Patched the flock implementation to be more advisory, thanks to Brendan Lynch for the patch and some education about this topic. http://abraham.backus.com/release/uw-imap/uw-imap-2002e-3.tar.bz2 http://abraham.backus.com/release/uw-imap/uw-imap-2002e-3-src.tar.bz2 http://abraham.backus.com/release/uw-imap/setup.hint http://abraham.backus.com/release/uw-imap/uw-imap-util/uw-imap-util-2002e-3. tar.bz2 http://abraham.backus.com/release/uw-imap/uw-imap-util/setup.hint http://abraham.backus.com/release/uw-imap/uw-imap-imapd/uw-imap-imapd-2002e- 3.tar.bz2 http://abraham.backus.com/release/uw-imap/uw-imap-imapd/setup.hint http://abraham.backus.com/release/uw-imap/c-client/c-client-2002e-3.tar.bz2 http://abraham.backus.com/release/uw-imap/c-client/setup.hint Thanks! -Abe

I'm interested in becoming package maintainer for libsmi (http://www.ibr.cs.tu-bs.de/projects/libsmi/index.html). This package builds out of the box. There has been a new release of the University of Washington IMAP toolkit. Programs written for imap-2002d should build with this version without modification. --- Also, I've put some necessary information back into the readme that had been removed and added some code that was submitted to fix some cygwin-specific problems with CRAM-MD5 authentication. Good question. I don't know a heck of a lot about the file and whether it's used at all. There's some info about it in the UW-imap faq http://www.washington.edu/imap/IMAP-FAQs/index.html#7.10. The file location is based on the information about a default location provided there. I don't mind either removing the file from the distribution or changing the LOCKPGM path described in this FAQ entry... Any suggestions either way? Thanks! -Abe -Original Message- Abe, I noticed this a while ago and it didn't register. Sorry to do this right after a release, but does mlock.exe really need to be in /etc ?

Updated: uw-imap 2002d
This update contains cygwin-specific code changes to the main code base (which means that I don't have to patch it anymore!) as well as other fixes listed below. I've created a new devel package for this, but rather than calling it uw-imap-devel, I've called it c-client, after the name of the library used. http://abackus.imagineis.com/release/uw-imap/uw-imap-2002d-1.tar.bz2 http://abackus.imagineis.com/release/uw-imap/uw-imap-2002d-1-src.tar.bz2 http://abackus.imagineis.com/release/uw-imap/setup.hint http://abackus.imagineis.com/release/uw-imap/uw-imap-util/uw-imap-util-2002d -1.tar.bz2 http://abackus.imagineis.com/release/uw-imap/uw-imap-util/setup.hint http://abackus.imagineis.com/release/uw-imap/uw-imap-imapd/uw-imap-imapd-200 2d-1.tar.bz2 http://abackus.imagineis.com/release/uw-imap/uw-imap-imapd/setup.hint http://abackus.imagineis.com/release/uw-imap/c-client/c-client-2002d-1.tar.b z2 http://abackus.imagineis.com/release/uw-imap/c-client/setup.hint I'd welcome any input on the way that I've packaged c-client. The c-client.a that is built as part of uw-imap I've renamed to libc-client.a. Also, I've tried to select the set of .h files that developers and other packages might be interested in. These will be in /usr/include/c-client, which will need to be added to the include path at build time via the -I option. The c-client dev guide internal.txt is in /usr/doc/uw-imap-2002d. (Note: this isn't built against 1.5.0 yet, because it depends on the openssl libs, so I thought I should wait...) Thank you! -Abe From the RELNOTES file (included in /usr/doc/uw-imap-2002d/): imap-2002d is a minor release, released concurrently with Pine 4.56, and contains primarily bugfixes. Programs written for imap-2002 should build with this version without modification, with one exception. That exception is the ngbogus envelope flag, which stopped being used in imap-2002c and is now gone for good. The NNTP newsgroup listing code now tries to use wildmats on the NNTP server, which should result in better performance especially on slow lines. It is also once again permitted to log in on NNTP servers when /loser is set. imapd now supports the UNSELECT command. A new envelope flag, imapenvonly, indicates that the envelope in a MESSAGE/RFC822 BODY structure only has the IMAP envelope components and not the additional components from c-client: Newsgroups, Followup-To, and References.

Well, thank you very much guys. That's quite an honor :) Should I rebuild against any upcoming revisions? (this is regarding Chris' recent email to the cygwin list regarding the 1.5.x release cycles) Thanks again! -Abe -Original Message- You got it. RE: UW-IMAP (rfc headers) ?
Sure, I'm on vacation right now, but some time really soon, I'd like to be able to provide a devel package for uw-imap/c-client anyway :) -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Elfyn McBratney Sent: Thursday, July 03, 2003 10:55 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: UW-IMAP (rfc headers) ? I've started seeing two application requiring the header `rfc822.h' from the c-client. Would is be possible for you (Abraham?) to put this header in your next update? Elfyn --
