The code for those popups is a little convoluted, but maybe you can sprinkle some more printf(); around to find out what is causing the window to close. Great. Please check out the current git master sources and apply the attached
patch like this:
cd /path/to/git/checkout/
patch -p1 < /path/to/softproof_button.diff
Then compile, install and run it. When in darkroom please right click the
softproof button. It should print the functions executed on the shell.

I tried it with 2 mice and touchpad — no luck. It works elsewhere except those small button in DT. Yes, I can. E.g. right-clicking base curve module header gives me list of available profiles and "store new preset…". My issue is only about those bottom buttons. Removed ~/.config/darktable — no results, same behaviour. Resetting mouse settings with gsettings gave zero result too. I will try another PC a bit later.
