[darktable-user] Darktable 3.0 manual

2020-01-04 Thread Konzertheld
Hello everyone,

is there a place where I can find a newer version of the manual than ob
the website darktable.org? The blog post for the 3.0 release refers to
the manual for new features (ex the image info line) but there is no 3.0
manual. Can I access it somewhere or is it just not released yet? :)

Cheers,

Re: [darktable-user] removing broken storage and zoomable lighttable

2020-01-04 Thread I. Ivanov

Not sure if comments are supposed to be here or on github.

I use google photos but "never" directly from DT. I consider it over
complicated because when something breaks - it is difficult to
troubleshoot. So if it would save time and effort for development - I
agree dropping the exports to google / flickr etc. is better. There are
better areas to invest development.

Zoomable LT - I tried to use it but ended permanently with file manager
(it works better for me).

If you're duplicating images, you'll have two different file names, as
well as two different sidecar files with the same names as their
associated JPEG files.

As distinct, sequentially numbered sidecar files. Internally, as unique image
IDs which share a group ID (the image ID of the originally imported image).

I created the dtstyle from a regular JPEG file, not RAW image;
I'm experimenting with scanner color balance, not camera
profiling.

Indeed it seems that I have to deal with the "input color
profile" of my source images. The one added by darktable-chart is
wrong and must be replaced.

To be more clear, this is the workflow that now works:

1) Make a scan of the ColorChecker chart, open it in Darktable,
assign the most appropriate "input color profile" (which was
"linear Rec2020 RGB" in my case) export the image in PFM float
format, Lab color profile.

2) Get a reference image of the same ColorChecker chart, i.e. one
image with exactly calibrated colors. Export this image too in
PFM float, Lab.

3) Launch darktable-chart and use image #1 as "source image" and
image #2 as "reference values". Process the images and save the
resulting dtstyle. NOTICE: darktable-chart will include an "input
color profile" into the style, called "standard color matrix"
which is indeed wrong. We will replace it later.

4) Launch Darktable, import the dtstyle created at step #3.

5) Open the image to be color balanced, apply the proper "input
color profile" (again it was "linear Rec2020 RGB" in my case).

6) Apply the style imported in step 4 to the image and check the
history of the image: remove the last "input color porfile"
applied by the style. The image should now be correctly balanced.

7) Save the image history as a new style, this is the only one
that you will apply to all other images.

Happy Color Balancing!

So can you help me please to setup a config file for this Pentax-D FA

I am confused too, when I check the output of a Ricoh GRIII, which
works now with the discussed lens profile of another thread:

0xa432 PhotoLensSpecification Rational4 1040/100
3710/100 18/10 49/10

So there is nothing in the exiv2 query which is related to Ricoh, but
it works.

So do I have to define 0x003f and 0x0207 in a certain way, where the
word Pentax is not needed necessarily?
