[datameet] Bicycle Tracks in Different Indian Cities

2021-12-27 Thread Jasvinder Singh
Dear All,

I am trying to compile the data of all the properly made segregated bicycle
tracks in Delhi.
This data will be made on GIS platform with easy convertibility for Google
Earth
and Google maps platform.
I request you to take the location of these tracks and if possible, the
Photos and Video of the
track.
You can send this information to me in the following E-mail.
jasvinsinghre...@gmail.com

Compiling all the data at one place will help cyclists to choose the routes
and will also be helpful to authorities (maybe, because they are sleeping
to the needs of Cyclists :(( ) to plan and expand the network.

Proper credits will be given to the Group name and person, when the data is
uploaded.

Thanks and Regards,

Jasvinder Singh

[datameet] Query regarding Linking CSV tables for Pipeline Route alignment in QGIS

2021-01-11 Thread Jasvinder Singh
For a Pipeline Alignment I have TP (Turning point Data - Coords & Chainages
linked to TP numbers) in one Table.
In another Table I have certain road crossings with data columns indicating
crossing laying between TP numbers and also intermediate chainage between
those two TP's.
How can I get coords for the road Crossings.

Newbie here in the field of GIS.

2019-01-06 Thread Jasvinder Singh
Dear Nikhil,

Saw the interface. Its quite simple and easy to use even by newbies.
However is an android version of the same available?
It would be easy to update the databank whenever one is traveling and comes
across an unfamiliar station.

Re: [datameet] Looking for public toilet location data for our app

2018-09-19 Thread Jasvinder Singh
Dear Gagan,

The only solution I see for a large country like India is crowd sourcing
the data. The app should let users pin the location of any toilet they use
and send it in. The database should only check for duplicate entries.
Hope this catches on.
Regards.

Re: [datameet] Crowd sourcing the Data

2018-05-25 Thread Jasvinder Singh
Dear Arun,

Taking up your second interrogative first, actually the idea came from one
of the threads in the group itself.
One query was regarding Bus stops in a particular city. Now imagine the
power of crowd sourcing for such a project. Just one person in a city when
commuting by any means, within a course of few days can mark KMZ points of
bus stops and upload them. That's just one person.

Now coming to the first part of your mail. The very idea for propagating
"the idea of crowd sourcing" is to increase that small fraction of persons
"who contribute data voluntary" to substantial numbers where it starts to
make a difference. And if am not wrong, this is the very idea of making
groups like "datameet".

Just a thought.

Regards.

[datameet] Crowd sourcing the Data

2018-05-24 Thread Jasvinder Singh
Hello Guys,

Lots of threads asking for a particular type of Data.
Why can't we start a crowd sourcing project wherein all members will pool in
data with particular attributes and pool it in a database.
The type of categories into which data will be filtered can be decided by
senior members of the group.

With the type of mobility people have now a days, the repository will expand
very fast.

Say what?
