Re: [datameet] BMTC ITS Inauguration | ITC Windsor Hotel | 07.30pm | Today

2016-06-08 Thread srinivas kodali
I don't know if BMTC shared data with xerox at all. Either way if you want
the data, it is already public on their github account
https://github.com/xerox-urbanhack/gtfs-data They released it for a
hackathon last year with some API's. The best part is they licensed it open
already. It is not perfect, but feel free to use it.

https://s3-ap-southeast-1.amazonaws.com/he-public-data/Xerox-BMTC-UrbanHack%20-%20Data%20and%20API88c873e.pdf

The data is not perfect. But it should be helpful to check it out. I will
look into this app and see if they are using any official API's from BMTC.

I agree. My concern is also that private players are able access these and
the data is not made 'public'. If BMTC is allowing api access to Xerox,
what prohibits them to make it public?

I am sure if they make it open, there will be more players and it will lead
to more innovation and offer a better playing field than a few select
organisations having access.

I did ask Xerox folks to share the data and it was negative. They want to
hold it and do some analytics on them.

I am sure most of us are interested in understanding the dynamics :)

Here is a crawler & bus-stops data in multiple formats. Not all the bus
routes have GPS devices. After checking out all the routes, the ones which
were giving responses, i included that in the routes file. Still working on
things. If you suggestions, post it in the hackpad before tomorrow noon.
