Does anyone have any idea how can I install smd64 - Debian in other way ( or maybe other install cds or dvds have a different kernel? ) Have you checked the MD5sum of the ISO against the one on the download site? It might be that the ISO is corrupted. I don't have the ISO image I downloaded anymore so I can't give you a reference. I hope this is of some small help Steve I checked it and was correct. I had a similar problem with Gentoo LiveCD for amd64. The system wan't able to see my SATA disc.. I can still boot from ubuntu ( for amd64 ) and install Debian from chroot. But I didn't see any informations how to do this in Debian docs.. --- Darmowe konta email o pojemnosci 500 MB http://www.free.os.pl --- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. D-I Etch Beta2 - Status update (4)
I am very happy to announce that the debian-installer images targeted for Beta2 are now in testing (except AMD64) and that daily (etch_d-i) netinst and buisinesscard CD images using them are now available from [1]. These images use the 2.6.15-7 kernel. Note: full CD images are not yet available, but hopefully will be soon. I'll send an update when they are. Links to other images point to Beta2 images as well. Yesterday a relatively minor issue (but important for arm) was discovered in base-installer and we're going to wait for that to reach testing before the final CD builds. That also gives us until Friday for testing. Unless we get reports for serious issues within the next three days, this will be the version of d-i we will go with. Please let us know any test results or record them in SVN [2]. [1] http://www.nl.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/ (Note: other mirrors may not yet have been updated) Beta2 images for AMD64 will probably take 1 or 2 more days. Can you add to the errata page (or tell me where to add it), the following three issues : - 2.6.15-7 has on powerpc a clock drift issue which is fixed in 2.6.15-8. - sbp2 is broken in 2.6.15-7, but fixed in 2.6.15-8, on powerpc, thus not allowing an install to a firewire disk, or reading back a firewire disk - the tg3 module is not included in the module .udebs, and as thus a network install on machine with those broadcom ethernet controllers (like the Apple Xserve G5) is not possible. loading the tg3.ko module by hand is a known workaround. This should be in addition to the not yet fixed prep issue, which makes d-i fail on all ibm chrp boxes due to yaboot having a problem with partman-prep being broken. On 32bit arches, a workaround is to use nobootloader, and the mkvmlinuz way instead of yaird (configuring mkvmlinuz to produce the compressed vmlinuz-* kernel, and dding it to a prep partition). Your chipset appears newer than sarge, so full support is very unlikely. many intel chipsets support a dumb mode in which it combines the sata and ide devices into one pile of ide devices (for dos/windows installer compatibility) which makes the linux driver (at least in the kernel used by sarge) confused so it either sees the ide devices or the sata but not both. Setting the bios to native/enhanced mode rather than combined/emulation mode tends to make that problem go away. On the other hand some systems (mainly Dell) won't even let you have such a bios option. You may have better luck with the daily builds since they have newer drivers (2.6.15 kernel). Or you can see if 2.6.12 kernel is better and use my sarge installer from www.tinyplanet.ca/~lsorense/amd64/ Good luck. The amd64-specific files are about 13 Gigs, but for the mirror to work properly you will also need the binary-independent packages which bump it up to around 43 Gigs. There will be some big changes in the way the mirrors work soon (some arch being split out, others moved in) to help control the size as a full Debian mirror is HUGE. The changes will make it a lot easier for people to mirror specific arch without all the cruft of other arch that they don't need. It is trivial to setup and will just take a few seconds to change the url when the Debian gets amd64. The drawback is that it won't be a 1:1 mirror. The Packages, Sources and Release files will be remade and resigned with your own gpg key. So this is only suitable for internal use. The big advantage is that you can easily combine different sources into a single archive. For example I have amd64.debian.net amd64+source ftp.de.debian.org i386+mips+mipsel+m68k+source security.debian.org amd64+i386+mips+mipsel+m68k+source and in my sources.list I just have deb http://storage/debian/ sarge main contrib non-free You can also keep security seperate from sarge if you like with a slightly different config. E.g one resulting in deb http://storage/debian/ sarge main contrib non-free deb http://storage/debian/ sarge-security main contrib non-free When amd64 enters Debian sid I just edit the config and I will also get updates from there.
