console-screen framebuffer
Hello, I installed usplash and grub2 on my lenny, and configured grub.cfg (added vga=0x318 : [EMAIL PROTECTED]). usplash works till, i suppose, console-screen.sh is launched : I suppose there must be a problem with framebuffer and console-screen setting fonts. I've added nvidiafb in /etc/initramfs-tools/modules, and then removed with no effect, which makes me think grub2 embeds its own framebuffer... Is there any patch or configuration setting I missed ? TIA, thomas
Re: console-screen framebuffer
No problem with usplash removed... Oh, and the problem is the screen getting corrupted, completely unreadable : black background with some green blocks randomly positionned. 2008/12/2 thomas parquier [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello, I installed usplash and grub2 on my lenny, and configured grub.cfg (added vga=0x318 : [EMAIL PROTECTED]). usplash works till, i suppose, console-screen.sh is launched : I suppose there must be a problem with framebuffer and console-screen setting fonts. upgraded to etch, inkscape not installable
Hi all, I've just upgraded to etch this weekend. The upgrade just went fine. But some packages dont want to go etch : Inkscape requires libglibmm-2.4-1c2, but I installed libglibmm-2.4-1c2a which is supposed to replace the one inkscape needs. And I cant install libglibmm-2.4-1c2 because it doesnt appear in aptitude any more. Same problem with dbus and dbus-1 which I thought they were interchangeable, but totem-gstreamer wants dbus-1. How can I deal with that ? I'd really like to have inkscape installed. thanks, tom -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Do I have to dist-upgrade to be able to build xgl and the whole thing ? Or is it something else ? thanks tom Is this a good plan? Replacing X (Sarge uses XFree 4.3.0, Xgl needs XOrg 7.0) and Gnome (Sarge uses 2.8.1, Xgl needs, well, newer) is a CONSIDERABLE proportion of the system, and doing so without any package management invited disaster If you're wedded to the idea of Xgl, why not just upgrade to Etch (Xorg 7, Gnome 2.14) which is more likely to work, or even have precompiled packages available? You're right, Jo : it is considerable. That's why I am a prudent with all this. I'd like to have some testimonies from sarge users who managed to get Xgl running, and how they did it. I've seen that packages are available on ubuntu repositories, but I'm not very keen on installing packages from another distrib, and on the other hand they depend on newer xserver and gnome. So I guess you're right again, I should consider upgrading to etch... but I don't feel like it is safe though i'm sure many users do such dist-upgrade without any problem : there are so many packages engaged, and I'm a bit frightened about my whole config which I fear to be broken then. tom -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. chroot and openoffice
Hi, I'm using openoffice.org 2.0 in a chroot, and I can't open nfs mounted files. I get this message : input/output general error while accessing to /mnt/server/path/file.odt.. (translated from french :) Server is actualy mounted in /chroot/mnt (automounted), I put a symlink in /. BTW, I mounted my home partition in the chroot path too and made a symlink in /, which I guess is a problem because schroot told me it couldnt chdir to the path. I dealt with it by adding cd / before the exec schroot line in do_chroot, which is not very clean to me. thanks tom -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Re: autofs and openoffice
Ok, I've just changed the classic mount to a bind-mount, for the home partition. But there's still the error a mentioned. Regarding the twice auto-mounted remote shares, I believe that if you're right about twice mounted filesystem, it should not be good to do so with autofs too. But I don't how to deal with all that. The problem with bind-mounted folders is that it seems not to be correctly sync'ed : I mean remote shares auto-mounted in the original folder are not visible in the bind-mounted one. tom 2006/4/28, Eduardo M KALINOWSKI [EMAIL PROTECTED]: thomas parquier wrote: Hello everybody, I'm having problem with openoffice, which is launched in a chroot'ed environment.
