mike,

i think you are mistaken. this looks like a request to unsubscribe make
in your name. just don't reply and it will not happen. unless you have
some other email asking you to leave, but really, if the list owners
wanted you gone, they would just unsubscribe you.

I don't recall in particular anything that you have said (no offense

passes through), and I don't recall anything passing through on this

It sounds as though someone may be pranking you; if anyone is

sure nobody has faked an unsubscribe message apparently from your
  address?

Maybe they did. I received a similar message like this one when I was on
the debian user list... As a result I unsubscribed.

I would subscribe again, it's up to you if you want to be on the list ruffled
feathers or not (I didn't notice any).

I took it to mean that
I was no longer welcome on the site. People in the IT world often have
poor social skills and take offence easily.

I don't think so. It's a public list, for anyone who wants to subscribe.

I think I may have ruffled some feathers.

Probably a mistake of some sort.

IIANM, this is not a request that you unsubscribe from the list. Rather,
someone has highjacked your email address and sent in a counterfeit request
for you to be unsubscribed and this is asking for confirmation. I would
 ignore it keep posting.

CMR, I believe that you right. As it happened I installed mailman on
one of my servers today. To test your theory I just send an e-mail (the
subject just said Test and so did the body) and I got a request to
unsubscribe message back.

If a spammer is forging Michael's e-mail address and also spamming the
Debian AMD64 unsubscribe e-mail address (because their dumb software
just scrapped it from a publicly archived record) then it is very likely
that Micheal would get the unsubscribe confirmation request.

Micheal, if you still have the original message then I suggest that you
forward it to the -admin address. It might be that the list maintainers
can track down where the trigger came from and improve their spam
detection and rejection configuration.

[snip standard listmanager automated reply]

Hi Michael,

Someone sent an email to the unsubscribe address listed at the bottom of
every email from the list, or they went to the website and entered your
email address. Either way, the software sends a confirmational email to
you just as it did when you first subscribed.

I would encourage you to resubscribe to whatever debian lists you wish.

I won't comment on the content of your posts other than to say I saw no
feathers ruffled. If you had seriously breached protocol (the code of
conduct), I'm sure the list manager would have sent you a private email
and or just unsubscrbed you without you getting any automated email.

It's a public list. To paraphrase StarTreck: To your list, welcome.

Doug.

If so, don't sweat it.

I've seen this list get emails with unscribe in the subject. Just
some dumb joker.

The software required Win95 or better, so I installed Linux.
