Bug#269377: apache: Upgrade broke Apache and PHP

2004-09-01 Thread Brian C
Package: apache
Version: 1.3.31-4
Severity: important

I just upgraded Apache (among other things.) Now my site, which runs
b2evolution (serving up a .php index file), does not display and
constantly generates new windows with nothing in them. (It's like an
infinite loop.)

Or, if Mozilla/your browser is not configured to handle x-html-php
files then trying to visit the site just asks you what to do with the
file. Something is obviously broken, but I can't figure out what to
change to fix it.

I selected to keep my old httpd.conf when upgrading. Strangely, all my
other virtually-hosted sites work fine. None of them uses PHP, so I
looked around and saw that apache-mod-php4 was not installed. It seems
to me that it used to be. So, I installed it and still no fix.

Any ideas greatly appreciated (to address listed below) as my site (also
below) is down until I figure this out!

This is a bit too generic. What if some other packages are at fault?

Please provide us with at least the configuration file.

You need to enable the php4 module manually with something like:

LoadModule php4_module /usr/lib/apache/1.3/libphp4.so

otherwise php4 isn't used at all.

Bug#269398: apache2-mpm-worker: cannot stop apache2 if /etc/default/apache2 NO_START=1

2004-09-01 Thread Jörg Thönnes
Package: apache2-mpm-worker
Version: 2.0.50-11

Hello,

I activated apache2 using the NO_START=0 setting in
/etc/default/apache2. Then I set this back to 1.

Now stopping apache2 does not work:

Not starting apache2 - edit /etc/default/apache2 and change NO_START to
be 0.

At least I should read here Not stopping..., but better would be to
try to stop it anyway.

Of course, I cannot set NO_START=1, stop and then set it to 1 again.

Cheers, Jörg

There are two modules called mod_bandwidth. You're reading the
documentation for the one we don't ship. Were it not now only picoseconds
before sarge releases, I'd add the new mod_bandwidth, but we're planning
on killing apache 1.3 post-sarge, so it'd be a lot of wasted work.

Bug#269377: I have same problem

2004-09-01 Thread Per Blomqvist
Hi.
I have same problem, after a daily upgrade of my system, apache stopped
serve php-pages. I tested to remove httpd.conf and run dpkg-reconfigure
apache. And followed the README instructions in /usr/share/doc/.. for
apache and php4, but without any luck. I have done alot of mixuring
by myown ( installed and removed lot of package) without any luck.

What I remember from the beginning where that apache restart
complained that libphp4.so module was gone. A file that according to
apt-file search libphp, are served by:
php4: usr/lib/apache/1.3/libphp4.so
BUT my version of install of these package php4, does NOT contain this
file. According to dpkg -L php4, it look like a dummy package:
/.
/usr
/usr/share
/usr/share/lintian
/usr/share/lintian/overrides
/usr/share/lintian/overrides/php4

THERE ARE ONE PHP THING THAT STILL WORK,
phpmyadmin(that handle mySql-database), still works.
But this one have symlinks here and there, and own configfile.. so I
can't follow why it still works.

This is my installs of apache:
apache (1.3.31-4) Versatile, high-performance HTTP server
apache-common (1.3.31-4) Support files for all Apache webservers
apache-utils (1.3.31-4) Utility programs for webservers

Bug#269499: apache-ssl: SSL log directives don't work?

2004-09-01 Thread Rafael D'Halleweyn
Package: apache-ssl
Version: 1.3.31-5
Severity: important

The SSL log directives don't work for me, I only get a '+' in the logs.

Looking at the source in src/modules/standard/mod_log_config.c, I see
that the '%{clientcert}c' log directive is actually handled by
log_connection_status since it appears in the log_item_keys array before
log_ssl_info (and find_log_func matches on the first entry).

So, as far as I understand, the '+' in the logs is the 'status of the
connection'.

Since '%c' is the same as '%X', the '%c' directive should probably be
removed.
