Sure. I see that di-utils is already included in pkg-lists/base, so deps are not strictly necessary. How about dropping really ancient versioned deps (e.g. older than the version in stable) at some point? The fail was during the partitioning of the hard drive. - On the initial screen of country selection pressing the 'p' key doesn't take me to countrys with names started with P. The keyboard it's disabled on that screen (tested 2 times). - Wired network detected (sky2 module), wireless network not detected (ipw3945) - yes, i know firmware bla-bla ;-) - Resizing the original NTFS filesystem takes a long time, a progress bar would be nice so the user knows something it's happening and not stare , like me, to the screen. - After clicking on Finish partitioning and write changes to disk the partitioning program appears in English (i was installing in PT) and instead of proceeding with the installation returns to same screen (a closed loop). The console on [Alt]+[F4] has a message Unrecognized mount option realtime or missing value (i was using relatime, indeed). On the same screen there is also some warnings gdk_window_set_keep_above() and ...below() not implemented. After removing the relatime option and tried again the partitioning the same happened. - On 1st boot (another attempt) the keyboard did not corresponded to Portuguese, after manually installation of console-setup everything was fixed (tasks selected during installation: laptop, standard system) -- Com os melhores cumprimentos/With Best Regards, Miguel Figueiredo
Bug#431296: Default partitioning on LVM-LUKS provides too small /
tags 431296 + patch thanks It might be time to re-examine the 280MB maximum size of / for the multi partitioning recipes. Similar to Didier I recently went to install 2.6.23-1 alongside 2.6.22-3 and the installation failed as I ran out of space. In Chris Walker's original bug message (#248278, May 2004), which caused the maximum to be raised from 150MB to it's current maximum, he stated that a /lib/modules/kversion directory uses 30MB each: they now use 70MB on my system. You may choose to factor in an additional 10MB for each installed kernel to account for an Nvidia binary driver, which--for my sins--I use. This problem may be especially prevalent on the amd64 architecture because ia32-libs, libc6-i386, lib32* and friends install to /emul/ia32-linux; this directory is consuming just over 100MB on my system. Futhermore, amd64 binaries tend to be slightly larger than their i386 counterparts. I therefore tentatively suggest a new value in the region on 380MB. A patch that increases the current maximum to this value for amd64 alone is attached. A patch that makes the change 'globally' would be trivial.
