Append emergency to the kernel command line when booting (linux
emergency will do), and then add a skip i810_audio to

should fix it. (I think i810_audio is the relevant module.)

The emergency helped a lot I can say , but I wasn't able to to boot
into the machine even with that .
Messing around I found that disabling the hotplug init.d script did the
trick, and now I have to find which
device is causing the trouble.

Anyway thanks a lot and may we all have a happy new year

There exists a patch that should hopefully fix your problem.

Currently, this is, very simply:

Indeed, several entries in the list (taken from ISO-3166) are not

The most important example seems to be Taiwan which is, BOTH for the
People Republic of China (usually called China, member of UN) and
the Republic of China (usually calle Taiwan, non UN member) *only*
Taiwan, Province of China.

Other politically sensitive ones would be AFAICS Palestine or
Northern Cyprus.

wouldn't it also be FYROM (or FYRO Macedonia) for The Former Yugoslav

Hi,
I just finished the translation of all of the current .po files
to the Greek language. Do I just commit them to the cvs archive,
send them over to someone else or sth else?
Also, the encoding of all .po files is in UTF-8, if there is a
problem with that, I could translate these to ISO-8859-7.
Finally, can anyone point me to a doc/readme about how to build
the .iso image myself and do some testing?

You should be able to get CVS access (someone else on the list who
can grant it will answer).
Anyway, post the translations to the list and they will be
committed. (This is the best idea for the first few times).

Ok, this does seem like a good idea, I would not want to break
something by accident. I attach a tarball with all the translations.
Please, let me know when they are included in the archive.
I also attach a tiny patch to the tools/languagechooser/
languagelist.l10n file.

Thanks.

PS. I gpg sign this mail for identification reasons.
PS2. Apparently I do have access to the cvs archive, but I prefer
doing this the right way.

I know that the Hebrew and Icelandic texts are completely
untranslated, and would also like to have the other texts checked as

Traditional), Croatian, Esperanto, Irish and Turkish need update.

is good if this is fixed as soon as possible.

Thanks, George, I incorporated these. In the future, it would be best
to submit the change in the form of a patch file. You don't have to
patch individual files, you can make all your changes in your cvs
checkout, and then use cvs diff -uRN in the boot-floppies directory to
create one consolidated patch file (it will even include added/deleted
files).
Also, you had removed finnish in the langs folder. I corrected it;
got something against those Finns? :)

No of course not :-)
for some strange reason when I was trying to compile everything that was
in the
langs directory it was stopping because of an error in the finnish file
so I removed
it to see if it was working , and I forgot to put it back on . Sorry for
that .

I just realized, that the Greek language option is missing from
languagechooser. Could you please send patches to add this? Check
README.trans in the source for instructions.

OK will do that asap

ite 8212

2003-07-13 Thread George Papamichelakis
Anybody has compiled the driver for
ite raid controller 8212 (woody or testing)? They give the source
but it has makefiles only for mandrake and redhat ...
If anybody wants to see the files let me know (because it's hell
to download it from their site, the only chance you have is
if you use IE otherwise...)

Re: Translating d-i (was: Translation)

2003-06-04 Thread George Papamichelakis
Martin Quinson wrote:

Well, the technic behind is all different (debconf templates + po-debconf),
but the result is quite identical: A bunch of po files instead of one big po
file. It is even possible to merge all the small po files in one big to work
on only one big po file, if you prefer.
The simplest way is to:
- make sure nobody is already working on this (or coordinate with those
involved). I don't think so, since greek is not listed here:
  http://www.debian.org/intl/l10n/po-debconf/
Does the debian-l10n-greek mailing list exist (to make sure)?
There is a list I requested at that time (almost 2 years ago) that is
called debian-l10n-hellas.
It's not a very active but there are some members (myself included). If
you think it's
possible, we can rename it, (eg. to debian-l10n-greek) to be more formal .

- download the pot files to translate from:
  http://www.debian.org/intl/l10n/po-debconf/pot
(not all those files are about the new installer, the other being for
regular packages using the same infrastructure to get their debconf
templates translated. They are good to translate too, but should be sent
to the package maintainer as regular wishlist bug and not to this list)

You can also prefer get the pot files directly from the CVS to make sure
you are working on the lastest version and not on an old released file,
because things are moving quite quickly in this CVS.

- translate them, and get them reviewed if necessary

- send them to the debian-boot mailing list for inclusion in the CVS.
(or commit them yourself if you're debian developer).
There is a README for CVS informations:
http://cvs.debian.org/debian-installer/README?rev=HEADcontent-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup

Already have them and working on them but thanks for the info anyway

Translation

2003-05-30 Thread George Papamichelakis
Looking in my old mails I see that it was 2 (!) years ago
when I was almost ready to give the files for the Greek
translation. Well I hope you will be kind with me
but for other reasons I wasn't able to deliver as scheduled.
Anyway I have the following files :
1) utilities/dbootstrap/po/el.po
2) utilities/dbootstrap/langs (file .src and .xml)
3) some messages for syslinux
etc
Are they still worth to include (provided that I check
them with the current versions) or the move to debian-installer
makes them obsolete ?
If yes I will be happy to provide them up to date

Well, if the translations were done against the messages as
they were 2 years ago, then they're not much use. If instead
you mean they are translations of the current cvs messages,
then maybe.
Every now and then I did some updates from cvs so they are almost (70%)
curent
but I surely have to browse and check it once more...

There might be another release of boot-floppies
before d-i is actually ready, and if so they could be included.
d-i is a whole new system, with all new messages, your help
is certainly welcome at cvs.debian.org/debian-installer.
There has already been some translation activity (e.g,
8 languages for main-menu).

Same procedure as the boot floppies ?

Adaptec ATA Raid 2400A and Woody

2002-01-24 Thread George Papamichelakis

Hello,

I have managed to install woody on a system that uses
the above adaptec card. I had at first to use a minimum
potato installation on a separate disk and then upgrade
to woody, install a 2.4 kernel and then use the dpt_i2o
module to see the raid disk. A friend of mine wishes
to use the same card on a system but he wants to make
a fresh install directly on the raid device. There aren't
any woody disks with kernel 2.4 as far as I can tell.
Does anybody have a workaround for this ?

Hello again and thanks for the advices,
I have completed the dbootstrap.po file that needed translation by almost 50%
is it time to start testing this stuff or should I wait to complete
the translation?
