It works, but it has confused many people already (three bug reports so
far). The new nano I was trying to get in testing only introduces bugfixes
and updated translations, plus the fix for this problem. If I hadn't ask
you before about this, it was because it's been a lot more difficult to
get some arches done. I'm still missing mips, mipsel and arm.
mips and mipsel I asked neuro if he could build, but he said there was
no point as "you can't install new source packages on woody now" (or
something like that). ARM, I just don't know who could build it, maybe
bdale...

These packages are tested, they introduce relatively little changes.
If it's possible to get them in Woody, it'd be a lot better than the
current situation and I'll try my best to finish the builds. If it's too
late, oh well.

Nope. The traditional pico thing of letting it wordwrap, then using
backspace to join the two lines once you've finished still works,
doesn't it?

Actually, I need to get 1.0.8 in woody. I've been trying to get all the
architectures built by hand, but it's a difficult task. I'm still
missing 4 architectures before I can give the packages to Anthony Towns
so he installs them in Woody.

This bug should be fixed, we can't teach base-config about -w, as it
only calls $EDITOR.

aj, if you're reading this, do you foresee buildd's picking up w-p-u in
the near future?

(non-free and contrib are not part of debian, maybe, but the
installation procedure, when not using "edit sources.list by hand"
ask if we wan't to use them or not, so I think anyone can set it up with
the "by hand" install option!!
"edit by hand" is for custom purpose so what to do if you have a custom
debian repository with long path!!!).

Your right, we just need to run nano with -w from boot-floppies install.

from nano's man page:

   -w (--nowrap)
  Disable wrapping of long lines.

Bug#141763: boot-floppies: Nano breaks lines when editing sources.list by hand.

2002-04-08 Thread Emmanuel Lacour

Package: boot-floppies
Version: N/A; reported 2002-04-08
Severity: normal

When installing woody and choosed to edit sources.list by hand, if the
line is too long, nano break it in two lines, making the sources.list
unusable. We must to go at the beginning of the second line then make a
backspace, a return then a backspace another time to get an unique line.

It's always the case with the complete proposed-updateis line on a
"standard" screen.

deb htt://http.us.debian.org/debian woody-proposed-updates main contrib
non-free

Suggest: another editor..., patching nano, have a screen that explain
the problem.
