Bug#315326: kernel-headers-2.6.11-1-k7: make-kpkg modules_image do not generate
Looks like the issue is that include/linux/version.h sets UTS_RELEASE to 2.6.11 instead of 2.6.11-1-k7. Strange - looks like all the other x86 flavors have the right value, and previous -k7 uploads had the right value. I rebuilt the k7 flavor, and it looks correct as well. Dunno how to explain this one - I don't see any relevant changes in kernel-package. However, it looks like it'll be fixed if there's another 2.6.11 upload. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

On my test box it started system almost *three* times faster. I guess the obvious question would be .. does it require any changes to the init.d scripts themselves to gain this speedup? Yes and no ;) By default it's total replacement of old init system. It comes with its own starting scripts by default. And they're very gentooish, but hey. all this packaging is about to integrate it with Debian. Or is the asynchronous nature sufficient to boost startup performance? I'm going to try to use our existing scripts although it needs some tweaking cause we don't have any dependency information in them. If that is the case that'd be great - but I'd be initially suspicious unless it could ensure the correct ordering such that network access is available before servers start, etc. Its starting scripts keep information about ordering. I suppose that for now it will be packaged to be used as a total replacement of our init system. But maybe some minor changes in our init.d scripts policy would allow us to use it with Debian scripts. We'll see. Bug#316044: wmaker: docked apps disappear in special situation
Package: wmaker Version: 0.91.0-7.2 immediately after logging in as user mario, using wmaker as window manager, I get a top line of docked apps, some of them starting automatically, some others waiting for me to double click on them. in particular, I have 3 wmWeather which are not automatically started. also, on my system I have a crontab line requesting a dayly update of all packages... wmWeather itself is not from a debian package and does not get updated since May 2004. quite intermittently, the following bug appears: after logging in, before moving to another workspace, I click (single click is enough) on a wmWeather unstarted dock and the whole set of docks disappears, leaving the clip in some sort of collapsed mode (by way of explaining, but not literally, because the clip retains its colors typical for uncollapsed mode). moving to an other workspace makes the docked applications show up again. clicking on an unstarted dockapp does not cause the bug any more, it is something which happens only once per session and only if I do not change workspace before clicking on a non started dockapp. yesterday (that is, before the last update crontab guided update) the bug was not present and had not been present for probably 2 weeks or so. friendly thanks, Mario Frasca 'uname -a' says: Linux kruiskruid.demon.nl 2.6.11-powerpc #1 Fri May 13 15:47:19 CEST 2005 ppc GNU/Linux 'dpkg -s libc6 | grep ^Version' says: Version: 2.3.2.ds1-22 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#316046: Number of tracks limited by 1000
Package: mp3splt Version: 2.1-1 Severity: normal While mp3splt manual says By default all tracks are splitted, the actual number of tracks being split is bounded by 1000. If there are more than 1000 tracks found in the given mp3, mp3splt splits only first 1000 of them so that the 1001-st track contains the other still unsplit tracks. I think the maximum number of tracks should be increased to something like 10 and this number should be explicitly mentioned in the manual. There is another minor problem related to the number of tracks. Currently the tracks naming is not uniform: first 99 tracks are named Track 01.mp3 .. Track 99.mp3 tracks NN 100..999 are named Track 100.mp3 .. Track 999.mp3 etc. I believe, the number of digits in the track number should be the same for all tracks. Say, if the maximum track number contains three digits, first 99 tracks should have names Track 001.mp3 .. Track 099.mp3. Could your new clause be simplified to if [ $LOCALE != C -a \( $LOCALE != en_US -o $ARCH = powerpc \) ]; then pkginstall localization-config fi Barely, yes. I have to admit that I was missing the exact appropriate syntax for conditional grouping in test...especially escaping the parentheses... However, the test should IMHO not be on LOCALE for en_US because in that case LOCALE could be en_US.UTF-8 or en_US.ISO-8859-1 as well as en_US alone and we probably don't want l-c to be installed there as well. So, the test becomes: if [ $LOCALE != C -a \ \( \ \( $LANGUAGE != en -o $COUNTRYCODE != US \) \ -o $ARCH = powerpc \ \) \ ]; then (not sure whether my indenting is correct) This resumes to: if LOCALE is not C AND ((LANGUAGE not en or COUNTRY not US) or ARCH not ppc)

So, when I untar the orig.tar.gz file in a fresh dir, where does the copied debian/ go in relationship to the new folder containing the shadow source? I've tried in a couple different places - in the fresh dir, e.g. 'foo/debian' where the shadow source is 'foo/shadow-4.0.3', placing the copied debian/ in the untarred source like it would appear normally, i.e. 'shadow-4.0.3/debian' (as in above), etc. The right place to put debian/ is under shadow-4.0.3. You should see this as a two pieces puzzle : shadow-4.0.3/ comes from the orig.tar.gz file and is never modified and shadow-4.0.3/debian comes from our SVN. Is there something else to the command that I've missed, or am I doing something wrong in another way? Just the current directory while running the quilt command.
Bug#309932: boot-admin should not be in unstable
severity 309332 grave retitle 309332 boot-admin should not be in unstable thanks Hi, I'm surprised that you uploaded g-s-t 1.2.0 to unstable with boot-admin enabled. As I reported before, its grasp of grub's command syntax is very poor, resulting in the most complete breakage of my menu.lst you could possibly imagine. I would say that this is much more severe than the bug that caused you to disable services-admin. At the same time it is completely unaware of Debian's way of auto-configuring the kernels list through update-grub, resulting in the removal of the ## END AUTOMAGIC KERNELS LIST line which is required for update-grub to function properly. I understand that generating the auto kernels list through parsing magic comments, as done by update-grub, is kind of a hack, heck it is the current standard in Debian and its offshoots and therefore should not be broken. Bug#314955: Audio is mono until mute/unmute or adjust the volume
This does not seem to be an xawtv problem as the tvtime does the same thing. So this could be a driver issue and/or hardware issue. Unfortunately I haven't bee able to figure out what is causing this behaviour. This doesn't seem to be a sound card issue either since the problem exists also when I take the sound directly from the tv card. From the debug log everything seems fine... 8--- # Inserting the modules Jun 28 10:42:33 localhost kernel: Linux video capture interface: v1.00 Jun 28 10:42:34 localhost kernel: bttv: driver version 0.9.15 loaded Jun 28 10:42:34 localhost kernel: bttv: using 8 buffers with 2080k (520 pages) each for capture Jun 28 10:42:34 localhost kernel: bttv: Bt8xx card found (0). Open Mozilla Thunderbird and confirm its menu is not localized. How to workaround: 1. Open Mozilla Thunderbird and confirm its menu is localized. Yooseong, looks like a bug in the -ko locale package not thunderbird. Try the -de locale. It works. A quick view revealed that you don't use a unique extension id for your locale-extension, but the extension id of the default theme. do a dpkg -L mozilla-thunderbird-locale-de to see the difference. use uuidgen to generate your own (e.g. and change the uuid in the topmost install.rdf too.) How are you, You need this for your cable.. Get PPV for free. Copy and paste the below link in your browser: click4net.info Easy Installation. Thanks, Luciano Templeton some people don't like all this, check below click4net.info/r i need to get my nails manicured. We've tried to include features in the program for students with many disabilities. I needed Spanish in my classroom, so Spanish was added. I wanted something to engage students who are not interested in language, thus musical interludes and movement were incorporated. I wanted to be able to change the prompts (music, movements, etc.) on-the-fly. We wanted to provide for those requiring augmentative communication device and so the Mayer-Johnson symbols are included and can morph from the photographs. I wanted a cause-and-effect program for my students who didn't understand the automatic scan. The Switch-On-Picts activity was developed. We realized more types of scans would be advantageous. Three types of scanning routines have been added. I wanted 2 and 3 piece puzzles. Here they are. One of my parents wanted Dr. Seuss types of stories with real pictures. We wrote some 'ditties' and here's StoryTime.. 8. Haven't the computer programmers already practiced shaving?.

Bug#316031: libfreetype6: API changes from 2.1.7 to 2.1.10

No. See bug #314385: this library package's *name* needs to change, because of the issue you describe below. It looks like this is the case, I had hoped that the incompatibilities were minor enough that it would be possible to add any missing APIs back in where necessary. I had prepared an upload that fixed the s/Lookup_Size/LookupSize/ issue, but I was not aware of the Mozilla problems. I think the best thing to do is add a freetype2.1.7 source package that builds libfreetype6 with an epoch and coordinate with upstream the change to the soname - the next release looks like it is meant to break the ABI (more than normal that is). Does that sound reasonable? I'd rather not epoch the package but I don't see any other choice here. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#316083: guile-1.6: Creating a `guile-1.7' package
Package: guile-1.6 Version: 1.6.7-1 Severity: wishlist Hi, It seems that Guile 1.7 is getting wider acceptance among Guile users, and it offers noticeable API improvements over Guile 1.6. Besides, Guile users who would like their software to be ready for Guile 1.8, or at least compatible, may find an interest in being able to use Guile 1.7 already. For these reasons, I believe a `guile-1.7' package would be a nice thing to have. Bug#316086: openssh-server: fails silently when -6 given but no IPv6 support in kernel
Package: openssh-server Version: 1:4.1p1-4 Severity: normal When the sshd is started with '-6', however the kernel doesn't have support for IPv6, sshd silently fails to start. Also, the start-stop-daemon does not report failure. This could surprise administrators who have been running sshd with the -6 flag with a kernel that does support IPv6 - because even if IPv6 is merely enabled in the kernel (but not working or even configured), sshd will work. When changing to a kernel with IPv6 support (which wasn't used anyway), sshd -6 would *silently* stop working. It should give an error message, and start-stop-daemon shouldn't act as if sshd was correctly started when it wasn't. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12.1 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages openssh-server depends on: ii adduser 3.63 Add and remove users and groups ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.4.51 Debian configuration management sy ii dpkg1.13.9 Package maintenance system for Deb ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libpam-modules 0.76-22 Pluggable Authentication Modules f ii libpam-runtime 0.76-22 Runtime support for the PAM librar ii libpam0g0.76-22 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libselinux1 1.22-1 SELinux shared libraries ii libssl0.9.7 0.9.7g-1 SSL shared libraries ii libwrap07.6.dbs-8Wietse Venema's TCP wrappers libra ii openssh-client 1:4.1p1-4Secure shell client, an rlogin/rsh ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-4compression library - runtime -- debconf information: ssh/insecure_rshd: * ssh/insecure_telnetd: ssh/new_config: true * ssh/use_old_init_script: true ssh/disable_cr_auth: false ssh/encrypted_host_key_but_no_keygen: -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. The code in courier-authlib looks completely different to me. I suggest to bring up this problem on courier-users. Bug#316087: RFP: postscriptbarcode -- A barcode generator in pure PostScript
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: postscriptbarcode Version : Upstream Author : Terry Burton [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL : http://www.terryburton.co.uk/barcodewriter/ * License : MIT/X Description : A barcode generator in pure PostScript Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript is an award-winning open source project, as used by NASA, that facilitates the printing of all major barcode symbologies entirely within level 2 PostScript. Hence the process of generating a printed barcode representing a given input is performed entirely within the printer (or print system) so that it is no longer the responsibility of your application or a library. The flexibility gained by this approach allows you to avoid the need to re-implement barcode generation code, or migrate to new libraries, whenever your language needs change. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.26-tez2.4 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#316090: ipkungfu: debian/control settings wasting buildd resources
Package: ipkungfu Severity: minor I believe that at present the current debian/control file settings are causing unneeded cycles on buildd. My reasoning for this is because: * html2ps which has similar actions in it's debian/rules is a _all.deb * there is no gcc interaction * the debian/rules file does create platform independant code * buildd in my opinion should be left for the stuff that needs it My reasoning for posting this bug against my own package and not updating ipkungfu is: * if I update the package now to reflect just this change (which it will be) would be a waste of, my, my sponsor, and debian's time/resources. * it is pointless to make such a small change when the change actually effects what happens only when it gets on the archive. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.11-1-686 Locale: LANG=en_NZ, LC_CTYPE=en_NZ (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages ipkungfu depends on: ii iproute 20041019-3 Professional tools to control the ii iptables 1.2.11-10 Linux kernel 2.4+ iptables adminis -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
