Bug#340561: tmsnc: Locks at login screen

2005-11-23 Thread Maarten De Munck
Package: tmsnc
Version: 0.3.0-1
Severity: important

tmsnc locks at the login screen (it doesn't react to the keyboard to
give a username and/or password).

I tried to compile tmsnc from the upstream sources (0.3.1, not tried
with 0.3.0!), with these results:

When using gcc 4.0.2-4 ("configure"), the programs hangs. I ran it
inside gdb, and pressed ctrl+C to exit it at that point. A backtrace
gives:
Program received signal SIGINT, Interrupt.

When using the same version of gcc (4.0.2-4), but disabling the -O2 flag
("configure CFLAGS=-g"), the program runs fine.

When using gcc 3.4.4-9 ("configure CC=gcc-3.4"), the program runs fine
with and without the -O2 flag.

Feel free to contact me if you need additional information.

Just checked with libvte4 version 1:0.11.15-4 ...

I also tested it by downgrading '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' from using its speedy
'nvidia' X driver, (which I'd upgraded after reporting earlier instances of
this bug), to the slower 'vesa', as it seemed possible that 'nvidia' might
output graphics too fast for the bug to be noticable.

Results: 'vesa' or 'nvidia', the bug seems to be gone.

Bug#340558: Preview 25 available

2005-11-23 Thread Steve M. Robbins
Package: ipe
Severity: wishlist

New version available upstream.

- Forwarded message from Otfried Cheong <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -

Date: Thu, 24 Nov 2005 14:32:06 +0900
From: Otfried Cheong <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Subject: [Ipe-announce] Preview 25 available
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Organization: KAIST

It has been a year since Ipe 6.0 preview 23 was released, and so it's
real time for an update.

This is a pretty major update - a lot has changed in the code. This is
not so much due to new features (there are only a few), but because
Trolltech has finally seen the light and made Qt open source under
Windows as well. I have thus migrated to use Qt 4 (on all platforms),
which allowed me to also switch to a free compiler on Windows.

For Windows users, little changes - just download the zip file and you
are ready to run. For Unix users, however, this will probably mean that
you have to install Qt 4 before you can compile Ipe again.

Qt 4 will make a few nice new features possible in Ipe, but those are
not implemented yet, and won't be before the SoCG 2006 notification
deadline...

Enjoy!
  Otfried

Ipe 6.0 preview 25 (2005-11-24)

 * Migrated to Qt 4.0.0 and switched to MinGW compiler on Windows.

 * Added smallest enclosing circle ipelet written by Chris Gray to the
   distribution.

 * Removed the 'Postscript' file format. The three Ipe file formats
are now XML, PDF, and EPS.

 * 'void' is no longer allowed as a stroke color. To draw objects
without boundary, use the new 'void' line style. This model allows
for arrows without tails, and avoids problems with invisible text
   and marks.

 * If the style sheet contains a template with name "Background", this
template will automatically be shown on each page. There is no
need to explicitely create a reference on each page anymore.
This replaces the old "background" layer + reference mechanism.

 * Templates containing bitmaps are now supported (bug #100).

 * Minipage objects now have a "Latex style" - common Latex
environments can be used that way without having to type them every
   time.

 * When Ipe displays the Latex log file, it highlights the errors and
scrolls automatically to the first one.

 * Ipe can now number pages visibly in the PDF output.

 * Resolution of bitmaps displayed on screen now configurable.

 * Default line cap, line join, and fill rule can now be defined in
the style sheet. Object menu now shows them
   correctly (enhancement #79).

 * Ipe XML files can now have extension ".ipe" (enhancement #92).

 * Changes to stroke color of text objects are displayed immediately.

 * Option -runlatex for Ipetoipe (enhancement #88).

 * Loading and saving alternative formats replaced by auto-exporting.

 * Ipe XML parser now silently skips all tags whose name starts with
"x-". This allows you to make XML files with more information, to
be shared between other programs and Ipe (enhancement #110).

 * -nocolor option for ipetoipe (enhancement #107).

 * 'media' attribute is no in the element, where it should have
   been all along.

 * Fixed building RPM from source RPM (bug #98, thanks to Laurent
   Rineau).

 * Fixed -lastview option in ipetoipe (introduced in pre23 but didn't
   actually work...)

 * No more support for KDE (it doesn't use Qt 4).

 * Fixed bug #86 (incorrect XML for textsize).

 * Fixed bug #116 (error in IpeBezier::Straight).

 * XML comments now use correct syntax .

 * "Ipe5toxml" is no longer automatically called.

 * Fixed bug #103 (comment in last line of text object).

 * Recognize alternative names of standard fonts used in libwmf (bug
   #109).

 * Fixed bug #77 (spaces in layer names).

 * Fixed bug #83 (editing a path lost arrows).

 * Fixed bug #102 (bookmark destinations were wrong).

 * Fixed bug #96 (vertical text caused Acrobat to fail opening PDF).

 * Removed handling of obsolete Ipe file versions in IpeImlParser.

 * A subpath consisting of a single moveto no longer causes Ipe to
crash (but to fail an assertion).

 * Fixed bug #74 (New layer, new view keeps view settings).

 * "Last page" now goes to last page (not second-to-last one).

 * Snapping to center of arc works now.

 * Changed computation of dimmed colors (Qt's definition doesn't dim
   black at all).

 * Intersection snapping now works inside groups.

Description : xymtex chemical notation for latex; xymtex is a macro

I'd like to have some package to help typeset molecules. XyMTeX is
what wikipedia uses, so if it's good enough for them then it's good
enough for me. There seems to be an alternative called PPCHTeX, if
that's easier to deal with.

Packaging xymtex might not be too easy. You may have to contact
upstream (note that I don't have an email address either) and try to
convince him to include an explicit license of some sort.

Bug#339920: reproduce bug with highlight-regexp

2005-11-23 Thread Jay Berkenbilt

I've finally found a very short and easy recipe to reliably reproduce
this bug. It took a lot of widdling down, but I identified the
culprit as highlight-regexp. I haven't investigated what it is doing
that is causing the problem. More likely than not, you'll be able to
reproduce this problem by simply running M-x highlight-regexp anywhere
in emacs and then observing that gnus buffers created after that no
longer have colors in them. In case that's not sufficient, here's an
exact recipe to reproduce the bug.

Create an empty directory
cd to the directory
Create .emacs in that directory with the following contents:

==

(setq
 gnus-select-method '(nnfolder "")
 mail-sources '((file :path "~/incoming"))
 gnus-group-highlight '((t . gnus-group-news-1-face))
)

(defun break-gnus-colors ()
  (interactive)
  (save-excursion
(with-temp-buffer
  (highlight-regexp "^Not: Found$" 'highlight)
)
  )
)

==

run
HOME=$PWD emacs &
M-x gnus

Observe that the list of groups are highlighted in a color. Hit enter
over nndoc+gnus-help:gnus-help. Hit ! a few times, observing that the
items change color. Hit "q" to exit summary mode and enter to get
back in a few times to observe that colors stay as expected.

>From the *Group* buffer, run

M-x break-gnus-colors

Now hit enter over nndoc+gnus-help:gnus-help again. This time,
observe that the colors are not present. Hit q to return to *Group*
and q again to exit gnus. Run M-x gnus. This time, observe that the
*Group* buffer is also not colored.

That's about it -- please let me know if you are able or not able to
reproduce this using this formula.

I finally figured this out by noticing that the operation I did before
colors stopped working was to load an rmail file. I have an
rmail-show-message-hook that calls highlight-regexp. At first, I just
observed that loading and killing an rmail file was sufficient to
cause the problem. I then widdled down my configuration until I
realized that this was what it was.

Below is the reply I originally started to compose before I managed to
figure out an exact formula.

Finally this evening I've managed to get my emacs into a state where
this problem has occurred.

> - a region where there is no colorization (the bug affects the region),

Here's a character from a buffer that has no coloration but should
(character Y):

==

  character: R (0122, 82, 0x52, U+0052)
charset: [ascii] (ASCII (ISO646 IRV))
 code point: [82]
 syntax: w which means: word
   category: a:ASCII l:Latin
buffer code: 0x52
file code: 0x52 (encoded by coding system mule-utf-8)
display: by this font (glyph code)
 -Misc-Fixed-Medium-R-Normal--13-120-75-75-C-70-ISO10646-1 (0x52)

There is an overlay here:
 From 14 to 15
  face [gnus-summary-selected]

There are text properties here:
  fontifiednil
  gnus-number 1749
  mouse-face [highlight]

==

Here's a character from a buffer that has normal coloration.

This is what is happening.

I'm going to exit and restart gnus so that the coloring disappears

it is (character X'):

Bug#340553: imagemagick: Cannot load GIF image with deffered LZW clear code

2005-11-23 Thread Alexey Feldgendler
Package: imagemagick
Version: 6:6.2.4.5-0.2
Severity: normal

ImageMagick utilities fail to load GIF images that contain a deferred
clear code in LZW compression, as mentioned in:
http://www.w3.org/Graphics/GIF/spec-gif89a.txt

Example of such image:
http://www.plush.de/brix/files/everest.gif

For example, "display" says "corrupt image" about this picture.

I'm not sure which library does ImageMagick use for reading GIF, so I
didn't know where to file this bug. Please file a bug to Debian or
upstream to whatever library that causes the bug.

The only change in input between 2.6.15-rc1 and 2.6.15-rc-mm2 is that
psmouse resync patch. Marc, is you revert psmouse resync patch from -mm
does the mouzse still misbehaves?

Shouldn't lspci be on the install disk? I couldn't find it there.
I've attached the contents of /proc/bus/pci/devices in case that's any
help. I could poke around /proc or /dev some more if someone would
tell me what to look for.

This time I started with the cable in, and the network detection and
configuration seemed to go OK. In particular, it got the domain from
my dhcp server.

I've hunted around the bios, and don't see anything that looks much
like a sata mode setting.
Use automatic mode is enabled for disks. The documentation says

"If you select Auto in the BIOS setup program, the BIOS automatically
sets up the PCI IDE connector with independent I/O channel support.
The IDE interface supports hard drives up to ATA-66/100 and recognizes
any ATAPI compliant devices The interface also supports
second-generation SATA drives. The BIOS determines the capabilities
of each drive and configures them to optimize capacity and
performance. To take advantage of the high capacities typically
available today, hard drives are automatically configured for Logical
Block Address and to PIO Mode 3 or 4, depending on the capability of
the drive. You can override the auto-configuration options by
specifying manual configuration in the BIOS Setup program."

As I said, nothing very much like that in the BIOS that I could see.

Neither is present.

Might have to be in ahci mode to work
> at its best if it supports that new standard.

I tried selecting the ahci driver in the detect disks screen, but it
didn't detect any disks.

The bios does indicate the hard drive is there.

FAT32 is supposed to work for up to 2TB. My vendor says that Intel
says the chipset on this motherboard is incompatible with Win98, so I
guess it's not surprising it didn't work. But how will I play Red
Alert :(

>

I'll give a Win2K install a shot while I'm at it; Intel says that
should work.

I'm surprised detecting the disk is so problematic; I thought
everything worked through standard interfaces.

BTW, am I correct inferring that SATA and 2.4 kernels are not a good
mix?

Bug#340551: beagle: depends on libraries from experimental

2005-11-23 Thread Paul Wise
Package: beagle
Version: 0.1.2-1
Severity: serious

The version you just uploaded depends on versions of libgnomevfs2-0,
libgtk2.0-0 and libpango1.0-0 from experimental, which makes it
uninstallable in sid. Please recompile using pbuilder or a clean sid
chroot or install.

Also, it would be nice if you could fix or close the other RC bug so
beagle can migrate to testing/etch.

Hi,

trying to install beagle, it asks for pkgs more recent than ones in
unstable:

beagle: Depends: libgtk2.0-0 (>= 2.8.0) but 2.6.10-2 is installed.
Depends: libpango1.0-0 (>= 1.10.1) but 1.8.2-3 is installed.

Please upload it with packages from unstable

The man page mentions a modprobe -k option, but modprobe has no -k

P.S., maybe the man page should just be in one section, 1, not in 8,
and no link? Because the program is in bin, not sbin.

Marc,

Are you, by some slim chance, manually loading mousedev ( via /etc/modules) or
an init script? If so your mouse will work.

Bug#337336: ipe: Ipe can not find pdflatex

2005-11-23 Thread Steve M. Robbins
Hello,

I just tested my system by drawing a box and a text label,
then saving it. No error was reported.

I need more information on your problem.

Ipe fails in what way? Is that text in a dialog? Console?

So the PDF is generated? Is it correct?

Please send a precise sequence of steps that makes it fail,
and the output on the console. If any file was generated,
send that too.

Thanks,

OK, after this clarifying paragraph, and having read the latest
questions of this Mutt FAQ [1], I think I have a couple suggestions
for you; I'll assume that you have $mime_foward set to "ask-yes", and
the rest of variables to their default values except when noted:

- In all cases, start in the original mail you want to forward, and
press 'v' to go to the Attachments menu. Then, tag (with 't') all
the attachments you want to forward (which will possibly be all),
including the first one, which contains the text of the message.
To forward them, press ';f' (or 'f' alone if you have $auto_tag
set). Doing a reply (';r') would be an option too.

- If you answer "no" to the "Forward as an attachment?" question,
you'll have in your editor the original body of the message, to
which you can add your comments, and the rest of attachments in
separate attachments each, _most likely_. It is possible that they
  get included in the body if they have a text/plain representation;
the only workaround for this, if it bothers you, would be to
temporarily change the mime type of said attachments.

- Alternatively, you may answer "yes" to the question. Then, you'll
have in your editor the headers of the original message, and in
further attachments all the forwarded original attachments (even
if they have a text/plain representation), the first of which will
be the body of the original mail. You can include your comments
either in the body of your new mail, or in the original mail
itself by editing that first attachment (with 'm').

- In either case, setting $forward_quote will result in the parts of
the original mail that are included in the new body to be prefixed
  with >.

And that was all. This mail is probably a bit dense, but I think it
contains all the information you need. But do not hesitate to ask if
  you have further questions.

  Cheers,

Aha! I should have realized this, but you removed the openoffice packages
without purging them. That explains why they're there. Of course, aptitude
shouldn't install versions that can't be downloaded -- and indeed, pressing
"+" on the package doesn't do anything. But if you list the versions of the
package and explicitly select the configured version, aptitude will happily
mark it for installation. This seems likely to cause problems later on.

Well and as I've said, I disagree. After requesting it, openhwackware
is now on Packages-arch-specific, so if you want to build arch:all
packages configure your build daemon properly. I'll close this bug
once I add a note on when building on the wrong environment.

Thing is I already had my instance setup when I first installed the
package; I set up a password and it is still working for my admin

Bug#340541: gnus: malformed CC address in reply

2005-11-23 Thread Brian May

Severity: normal

References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
From: Brian May <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Gcc: nnfolder+archive:mail.2005-11
Bcc: Brian May <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

This is wrong because the CC address is not quoted, and postfix treats
it as two email addresses. Fortunately, my MTA rejected the email
immediately (I use ssmtp). As an optional extra, it would be nice if
gnus displayed the error from the MTA without leaving me guessing what
"Sending...failed with exit value 1 means".

# cat mail2 | /usr/sbin/sendmail -t
sendmail: RCPT TO:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (550 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: Recipient

Also sometimes supercite gets confused and uses "May," as the prefix for
every line, but I can't reproduce this for the above test case
(it uses "Brian").

In the packages designed for Kanotix, this is done by an external

There are several more forwarding-related options; could I have a
  sample mbox to test?

If not, what are the value of your $mime_forward_decode and
$mime_forward_rest variables? Also, if you set $mime_forward to no,
  does unsetting $forward_decode help?

As a last resort, I believe you could also unset $weed.

in /scripts/basic attempts, incorrectly (AFAICT) to build "fixdep" instead of
using the "fixdep" that is already in the directory:

linux# make-kpkg modules
/usr/bin/make\
ARCH=i386 oldconfig
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.14-2-k7'
 HOSTCC scripts/basic/fixdep
gcc: scripts/basic/fixdep.c: No such file or directory
gcc: no input files
make[2]: *** [scripts/basic/fixdep] Error 1
make[1]: *** [scripts_basic] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.14-2-k7'
make: *** [stamp-kernel-configure] Error 2

That's probably my fault, even though I would think that if Makefile would
be written correctly, and fixdep binary already present (and it is
present), then it would not try to rebuild it. Can you please confirm that
it builds fine if you remove scripts/basic/Makefile?

Great, it is apparently locale dependent:

Bug#340538: apache2: includes non-free and possibly undistributable files

2005-11-23 Thread Francesco Poli
Package: apache2
Version: 2.0.54-5
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 2.2.1

Hi!

By reviewing the copyright file, I found out that apache2 includes
code that does not seem to comply with the DFSG.
What is worse, I even found some code that does not seem to be
distributable at all...

Quoting from the copyright file itself:

For the test\zb.c component:

This license does not grant any permission to modify and to distribute
modifications and derivative works (fails DFSG#3).
Upstream copyright holders should be contacted and asked to relicense
the file: I would suggest the Expat license
(http://www.jclark.com/xml/copying.txt).

This does not even grant *any* permissions.
It seems to be undistributable (fails DFSG#1 and DFSG#3).
If this is the case, distributing it is also a copyright violation
and should stop ASAP.
Again upstream copyright holders should be contacted and asked to relicense
the file: a good choice could be the Expat license.

An identical license holds for the following files:

 - srclib\apr\passwd\apr_md5.c
 - srclib\apr-util\crypto\apr_md4.c
 - srclib\apr-util\include\apr_md4.h

This license grants permission to to "copy and use" and to "make and
use derivative works", but no explicit permission to distribute the
derivative works (fails DFSG#3).
Upstream copyright holders should be got in touch with and asked
for a license change: I would again suggest to recommend the Expat
license.

I need it soon too, my package is stucked because of a strong dependency
on the perl extension. I wonder if Mattias or you could accelerate the
uploading to debian of at least the C base and the extensions that do
not have licensing problems, like perl_ext and ruby_ext.

Bug#340533: exporting resources as binary

Hi!

The export command fails silently when trying to export binary resources
with commands
  > export

It's also impossible to export supported text resources ("STR", "STR#"
and "CMDL") in binary format, as the command
  > export bin
fails silently for these as well.

I don't have any problems with exporting in txt format.

Reported problems are caused by incorrect logic in tr_lookup function.
The type compare is done for each entry of translator table, while
original intention was likely to skip this condition for entries with empty
string in type field. Attached patch fixes this and solves reported problems.

Bug#340487: madwifi-source: Missing step on mapping eth1 to ath_pci

2005-11-23 Thread Kel Modderman

Bill Wohler wrote:

Package: madwifi-source
Version: 0.svn20051110-1
Severity: normal

Thanks for packaging madwifi.

/usr/share/doc/madwifi-source/README.Debian is missing a step. If I
create an /etc/network/interfaces stanza of

   iface eth1 inet dhcp
wireless_essid my-SSID
	wireless_key mh-key

and run "ifup eth1", I get:

Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) :
SET failed on device eth1 ; No such device.

Can you either describe how you map eth1 to the ath_pci module in your
README, or could you create an /etc/modprobe.d/madwifi file that
contains the appropriate aliases (or whatever is necessary to make this
happen automatically)?

For some reason, adding "alias eth1 ath_pci" to /etc/modprobe.d/local
isn't working for me...

Hi Bill,

The README would better use ath0 as an example instead of eth1. eth1 was
only meant to be an example of usage, which is well documented in "man
interfaces". So I'll fix that oversight, thanks.

"ifrename"; install it, read up on it. That is the tool that can
reliably map interfaces to permanent aliases by mac adress (and other
identifiers).

Thanks, Kel.

In order to backport the bogons file a new package should be made.
Upload of a package into stable distribution is allowed only when the
current version present a vulnerability.

Please consider that bogons is no longer used in the current version of

Bug#340531: libc6: freopen() function closes unrelated streams.

2005-11-23 Thread Thomas Dickey
Package: libc6
Version: 2.3.5-6
Severity: normal

While exploring lynx cgi support with this html page:

test me

I found that vile dumped core (my problem to debug). However,
I found that libc6 also had a bug. The relevant chunk of code
in vile looks like this (TRACE is a compile-time macro which writes
to a trace file):

TRACE(("call freopen(%s) for stdin\n", tty));
if ((freopen(tty, "r", stdin)) == 0
|| !isatty(fileno(stdin))) {
TRACE(("...failed to reopen stdin\n"));
fprintf(stderr, "cannot open a terminal (%s)\n", tty);
tidy_exit(BADEXIT);
}
TRACE(("...successfully reopened stdin\n"));

The call to freopen() is causing the stream for TRACE's output to
close, so the last line in the output is the first TRACE shown in
this chunk. Putting an abort() before the last TRACE proves that
the code is getting that far.

Normally this chunk of code is run when redirecting stdout
to vile, e.g.,

ls | vile

and in that case I see no problem with the stream. For this special
case, lynx has setup the subprocess's stdin/stdout so they are via
a pipe, and neither is a tty (and there is no data on stdin).

valgrind doesn't report anything odd. Moving this chunk to the
beginning of the program (setting tty to "/dev/tty") has the same
effect, so it is unlikely that there are other causes.

For reference, this is vile 9.5c

Bug#340530: labplot: add support to plot across rows also

2005-11-23 Thread Kamaraju Kusumanchi
Package: labplot
Version: 1.5.0.4-1

Using Plot -> New Plot from data -> 2D data, one can generate a plot. But this
assumes that the data is stored along columns. It would be cool if you can add
support for plotting across rows as well. AFAIK not many visualization softwares
have that facility.

For example the above behaviour cannot be achived by gnuplot on its own. The
authors of gnuplot suggest to use an external tool to transpose the data and
then replot it using gnuplot. The following links confirm that fact.

http://groups-beta.google.com/group/comp.graphics.apps.gnuplot/browse_thread/thread/d8d25ad19d1b9c92/eb62557507eea08b?lnk=st&q=gnuplot+plot+rows&rnum=5#eb62557507eea08b

It would be more user-friendly if labplot inherently provides a mechanism (ie
without asking the end user to transpose the data) to plot across the rows.

Bug#340433: cernlib fluka copyrighted files

2005-11-23 Thread Alfredo Ferrari

No hurry to fix it.

It has been "broken" for so many years...

As explained in the CERNLIB disclaimers those files are permitted to
be used with GEANT321. So no problem on that and no hurry to remove. The
issue is that they are not GPL licensed and I understand this is not
what you want (a mixture of GPL and different, not compatible licenses)

for obvious reasons.

Thanks for your care, you are right on the extra files, I missed them.

  Ciao
 Alfredo

Dear all,

Patrice Dumas wrote:

Hello,

I got a report that some files in the cernlib package I
submitted to fedora extras were fluka files. The report is here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=167253#c31

It seems to me that the debian package has the same issue, so I attach
the updated deadpool.txt (I call it cernlib-deadpool.txt).

I have filed this bug at http://bugs.debian.org/340433 for future
reference. (Patrice, you may want to cross-reference the URL on
RedHat's bugzilla.)

In addition to the list of files you both have sent, I think that also
geant321/geant321/nucstf.inc and geant321/geant321/qquark.inc should be
excluded. I've also decided to omit the geant321/fiface directory and
the files geant321/miface/gfmfin.F and geant321/miface/gfmdis.F, since
they appear to be useless without the FLUKA code. The remainder of
Geant3.21, happily, seems self-contained; only the file
geant321/gcons/gftmat.F uses one of the excluded routines, and only if
specifically told to do so.

The total list of files and directories excluded from the geant321
directory is then as follows:

geant321/data/flukaaf.dat
geant321/block/
geant321/fiface/
geant321/fluka/
geant321/miface/gfmfin.F
geant321/miface/gfmdis.F
geant321/peanut/
geant321/geant321/nucstf.inc
geant321/geant321/qquark.inc
[plus the list of about fifty include files you both sent me]

I've also already excluded the following CAR and CMZ files:
car/geanf.car
car/geanf321.car
cmz/geanf.cmz
cmz/geanf321.cmz

Let me know if this looks good or if there is something else that should
be excluded.

I've made the geant321 library to compile without these files. However
it may take me a few days of testing to make sure that I replace them
properly with dummy functions to avoid breaking binary compatibility.
(As Patrice knows, I am compiling Cernlib as shared libraries so I have
to be a bit careful.)

The version of Cernlib in Debian "unstable" will have the situation
corrected as soon as I finish my tests and upload it. It will take some
time (days to weeks) before it propagates into Debian "testing".
However, correcting the version in Debian "stable" may be problematic
for technical reasons beyond my control. I will try to keep you updated
on the situation there.

best regards,

What packages are broken by the fact that sysv-rc does not source .sh scripts?

We know of one package that is broken if sysv-rc _does_ source.sh scripts.

Bug#340528: package still ships gconf schemas in /etc

2005-11-23 Thread Josselin Mouette
Package: gnotime
Severity: important

There have been several changes in the way GConf works in Debian. The
most important one is the move of all files that have nothing to do
in /etc to follow the Filesystem Hierarchy Standard.

All of this is handled by the dh_gconf debhelper script. In order to
make use of it, your package should do the following:
* build-depend on debhelper (>= 4.2.13),
* depend on ${misc:Depends},
* invoke dh_gconf somewhere between dh_install and dh_installdeb. For
packages using cdbs, this is achieved by including gnome.mk.

Don't hesitate to ask me for details.

This behaviour defeat the round robin on http.us.debian.org for apt-get
(which is my main concern).

Bug#340513: package still ships gconf schemas in /etc

2005-11-23 Thread Josselin Mouette
Package: memprof
Severity: important

There have been several changes in the way GConf works in Debian. The
most important one is the move of all files that have nothing to do
in /etc to follow the Filesystem Hierarchy Standard.

All of this is handled by the dh_gconf debhelper script. In order to
make use of it, your package should do the following:
* build-depend on debhelper (>= 4.2.13),
* depend on ${misc:Depends},
* invoke dh_gconf somewhere between dh_install and dh_installdeb. For
packages using cdbs, this is achieved by including gnome.mk.

Don't hesitate to ask me for details.

Bug#340507: Plugin assumes video and fails

2005-11-23 Thread Martin Samuelsson
Package: mozilla-mplayer
Version: 3.15-1

This bug seems to still be existant in CVS.

If trying to use the web radio with some real streams on the swedish
public service radio's web site at http://www.sr.se/ the plugin fails.
Basically what the content provider is doing is trying to create a web
radio window with minimal controls according to instructions found on
the following web site:

http://service.real.com/help/library/guides/production8/htmfiles/control.htm

They specify to use the statusbar and controlpanel attributes, which I
guess is ok with real player. However the mplayer plugin makes the
assumption that any window that specifies these attributes is either

1) a pure control window
2) a mix of control and video window

A pure audio window is neither. But still the if-logic in plugin-setup.cpp
marks the window a control window (controlwindow=1) thus disabling audio
output. From what I understand from the code comments, it assumes there
MUST be another instance running - which is not the case here.

My work-around was to comment out a few lines according to the attached
patch. This I assume breaks other web pages, which have separated
control and media windows.

A couple of simpler webpages to demonstrate the problem are attached as
well.

I don't know the proper fix. Upstream is X-Debbugs-Cc:ed, but I'm not
sure if that list is moderated or if this mail will actually get there.

Bug#340506: mutt: mime_forward does not work for attachments of type text/rfc822-headers

2005-11-23 Thread Ambrose Li
Package: mutt
Version: 1.5.10-1
Severity: normal

If I try to forward an attachment of type text/rfc822-headers, mutt will
forward it in-line and with lots of headers deleted. This happens even if I
explicitly "set mime_forward".

It is thus currently impossible to forward "full headers" for spam reporting if
the only headers available are inside a text/rfc822-headers attachment.

(Workaround is to save the attachment to a file, then insert the file from the
text editor. Therefore the bug is "normal" and not "important".)

Bug#340501: possible patch

2005-11-23 Thread Volker Janzen
I found out that these files are in asterisk-sounds-extra AND
asterisk-sounds-main:

conf-hasleft.gsm
conf-leaderhasleft.gsm
conf-placeintoconf.gsm
conf-thereare.gsm
conf-userswilljoin.gsm
conf-userwilljoin.gsm
conf-waitforleader.gsm

I removed these files from the asterisk-sounds-extra source-package and
installed the resulting package without problems.

Greetings,

Bug#340505: sound-juicer: scrollkeeper complains about not loading DTD

Package: sound-juicer

I'm not sure this is really sound-juicers fault since:

exists.

The usual cause of this problem is connecting to a server with SSL that

None of this rationale is based in policy; I don't see it as a valid reason
to downgrade this bug. Policy *is* specifying an interface here, and by not
complying with that interface, sysv-rc risks breaking packages that have
been written to depend on that interface.

Normally, failing to comply with a part of policy that's not listed in the
RC policy would be "important" rather than "serious", but in this case the
bug ranges somewhere between "policy violation" and "breaks unrelated
packages, so I think it's best to mark it as serious here for now.
