I verified that SysV IPC is on in my kernel options.

On a 2.4.22 system I have also running Debian stable, I get the expected
"root".

I was able to reproduce the same error. I apt-get install'ed conky from

with -v or -h). Running it in gdb results in:

Bug#342931: doesn't work on alpha

2005-12-16 Thread Steve Langasek
reassign 342931 klibc 1.1.1-4
# completely broken binaries on an arch == RC
severity 342931 grave
tags 342931 patch
thanks

Well, I haven't been able to reproduce Norbert's exact error, but I think
this may be due to differences in successive versions of klibc.

Here's what I am able to reproduce:

EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.
Begin: Running /scripts/log-bottom ...
[...]
run-init: rootfs not a ramfs or tmpfs: error 0
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

This one was pretty easy to figure out once I dug into run-init: the 64-bit
definition of struct statfs is completely wrong for alpha. I'd be pretty
surprised if it were correct anywhere; using a 64-bit f_type field makes no
sense anywhere. This is the first patch that's attached. Please confirm
that this doesn't cause regressions on other 64-bit archs; it's my
understanding that people have klibc working on amd64, which my reading of
the source says should be using the 64-bit version of the struct, so.

The next problem in line was that when trying to clear the initramfs to free
memory before overmounting, run-init was getting EPERM instead of EISDIR
when calling unlink() on directories. After stepping through both glibc and
klibc linked binaries, I've concluded that the issue is simply that klibc is
trying to read the errno from the wrong register. Initially, I was
concerned this meant unlink was different from other syscalls on alpha,
which didn't make sense; then I realized that none of the other syscalls I
was looking at were *returning* a non-zero errno, just a return value. So
this second simple patch applied after the first should get us a completely
working initramfs-tools on alpha, AFAICT.

Thanks,

Bug#343569: spamassassin: Can't locate Mail/SPF/Query.pm

2005-12-16 Thread Steve Lane
Package: spamassassin
Version: 3.1.0a-1
Severity: normal

Every email message spamd sees generates one of these in /var/log/mail.err
(I wrapped the line):

Dec 15 23:34:40 lego spamd[15298]: Can't locate Mail/SPF/Query.pm in @INC (@INC
contains: \
../lib /usr/share/perl5 /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.8.7
/usr/local/share/perl/5.8.7 \
/usr/lib/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.8 /usr/share/perl/5.8 /usr/local/lib/site_perl)
at \
/usr/share/perl5/Mail/SpamAssassin/Plugin/SPF.pm line 272, line 47.

In fact, /usr/share/perl5/Mail/SPF doesn't even exist. 'locate Query.pm'
and 'locate SPF' turn up no obvious culprits on this machine.

The spamassassin package installed fine with apt-get (no errors or
weirdness, etc.), and spamd seems to be *working* fine...

Thanks much,

Comments/Problems:

I deleted my gentoo linux and am trying to install debian from my Knoppix
CD. I followed the guideline in:
http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/apcs04.html.en1

I have three partitions: /dev/hda1 (ext3), /dev/hda2 (swp), and /dev/hda3
(reiserfs). For gentoo, I used /dev/hda1 for /boot and /dev/hda3 for /.

I first tried:
===
[EMAIL PROTECTED] /usr/sbin/debootstrap --arch i386 sarge /mnt/debinst
http://http.us.debian.org/debian
===
which didn't work due to (I believe) known version error of the
debootstrap installed in Knoppix.

Instead, I downloaded debootstrap_0.3.3_all.deb and extracted in /root.
Then I tried:

===
[EMAIL PROTECTED] DEBOOTSTRAP_DIR=/root/usr/lib/debootstrap
/root/usr/sbin/debootstrap --arch i386 sarge /mnt/hda3
http://http.us.debian.org/debian
===

However, first time, it failed at "Unpacking required packages...", but
somehow, now (when I re-tried to see the error message) it works fine.

My /etc/fstab looks like:

===
# file systemmount point type options dump pass
/dev/hda3/ reiserfs defaults 01
/dev/hda1/boot ext3 ro,nosuid,nodev 02

/dev/hda2none swap sw 00
proc /proc proc defaults 00
===

Then:

===
Knoppix:/# mount -a
mount: special device /dev/hda1 does not exist
===

Finally:

===
Knoppix:/# apt-get install kernel-image-2.6.8-2-686

Bug#328442: wavemon: Reproducable

2005-12-16 Thread Elie De Brauwer
Package: wavemon
Version: 0.4.0b-8
Followup-For: Bug #328442

I can actually reproduce this problem on two laptops. The odd thing is that
everything has worked already. But after a wavemon/kernel upgrade everything
stopped working.

As mentioned above I have two laptops, bot running unstable and a 2.6.14
kernel. One uses ndiswrapper to get to wlan. And another one (this one)
uses ipw2200:

The system ran previously a 2.6.12-2 which worked. So perhapse some interface
changed since 2.6.13 something ?
Something odd is that an other tools, like wmwave still works perfectly.
When strace'ing wmwave also shows the same error occurs but this does not
seem to be fatal for wmwave.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ strace -o tr.txt wmwave

So perhaps ignorance might be a solution here too ;-).

No eclipse (the software) depends on *gtk* libs. Even eclipse.org does
not cite gnome as a requirements. *YOU* impose gnome.

Gnome IS a danger becaéuse its goal is to impose a tatlly inadequate
way of using a computer to people who do not want it. Gnome is
contrary to the freedom of the user.

Bug#342934: Bug detected in: cdcat 1.0-3 on testing dist

2005-12-16 Thread Hyper -Deak Peter (PTM)

Hello

I don't know the bug. But I think it is a bug in avi parser, or mp3 tag
reader. If you disabled the tag reading and avi parsing may the seg fault
disappear.
Recentry I work on a completly new verion of cdcat.
So the whole program will reborn.
(UTF8,Qt4,eliminate expat code,new export,etc)
It may solve the problem.

Bye

Bug#343530: nut: logging to rrd database

2005-12-16 Thread Arnaud Quette
2005/12/15, Alexander V. Inyukhin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
Package: nutVersion: 2.0.2-2Severity: wishlistHello.
Hi Alexander,
I think it is a good idea to log ups variables to rrddatabase instead of log file. So, I create standalone
rrd logger dervied from upslog nut client.Of course, this could be easily implemented usingupsc or upslog clients and a cron scriptbut stanalone application is better for some reasons.Does anybody else need this functionality?
Should such a client be included in the nut(with additional librrd dependency) or nut-rrdpackage or distributed separately?

interesting point: I'm thinking of some logging improvements, such as:
- making upslog a real daemon, able to log data from several UPSs,
- making log asynchronous and smart (ie log only things that have changed),
- switching by default to a NUT specific logfile (ie upsd.log), instead of the syslog default,
- adding the ability to log to other system, such as RRD...
So, I'm definitly interested in your work.
The final aim of all of that is to be able to use these data for
plotting and other graphic / textual display... I've planned to get
back on this when working on some MGE PSP [1] evolution such as the
History feature in our case.

The mistake was mine. I indeed introduced this bug recently (in
version 1.77, while trying to fix some other bug related to unbalanced
braces in comments introduced).

I sincerely apologize for the mess. I've just built a release 1.78 of

The question is whether these files should be conffiles at all.
IMO this is a very good question, I had a look (not closely though)
at your transition to xkeyboard-config and it seems to me that the
fact that XKB files are conffiles made this transition more difficult.
On the other hand, people sometimes want to modify such files (#236252
for instance) and do not want to lose their changes when upgrading.

Maybe a solution is to have files installed by packages under a
given directory $dir1 (under /usr?), sysadmins can add/customize files
under /etc, and a magic command run after editing /etc files would merge
/etc and $dir1 into $dir2 (under /var?). X clients and servers should
then be modified to look for their files under $dir2:$dir1.
Do you believe that this is feasible/desirable?

Denis

I don't think so, libapache2-mod-suphp depends on suphp-common which

Hi thanks for a good bug report.

Do you see any PAX related messages in the logs regarding getmail/python?

Could you try disable resource overstep auditing in grsecurity and check
if the problem is still there?

I think this bug is more a python bug then a getmail bug. But lets do
some more checks and see if we need to reassign the bug.

Bug#343575: zdiff should ideally inspect file contents to see if decompression is necessary

2005-12-16 Thread Don Armstrong
Package: gzip
Severity: wishlist
Version: 1.3.5-12

It would be ideal if zdiff would either inspect file contents using
file if it is available or have some sort of option to override the
results of checking the file extension.

[This would be useful, because I find myself often comparing things
like gnumeric files which are compressed but don't normally carry a
.gz or .tgz or .tar.gz extension.]

Bug#336400: emacs-goodies-el: please add xdvi-search.el

now I have a little spare time (grading the finals is finally over and I
can study some things). :-)

Oops. I don't know if AUCTeX really has support for inverse search (I
will have to check the manual).

What I meant is that, with AUCTeX, you can (easily) enable source
specials and, with your xdvi-search.el, this means that Emacs can use
easily the forward/backward search with xdvi(k).

BTW, I'm using Debian's "emacs-snapshot" (taken from unstable/what will
become Emacs 22) and your xdvi-search.el works quite well with this (and
I don't have the need to install extra things like "gnuserv"---the
builtin server and client work much better than before, in my
experience, and that makes Emacs+xdvi(k) a great environment for TeXing
documents).

IMVHO, this is an extra reason to have xdvi-search.el available.

Please, see the comments above. I think that now it matters much more
than earlier to have xdvi-search.el available.

Thanks, Rogério Brito.

  * Added a small script to automatically update config.{sub, guess} to make
sure we never FTBFS due to outdated config files (closes: #342389)

Hi,

unfortunately this script does't handle all cases correctly.

Those files are not marked as executable:

mysql-gui-common/library_gc/ftgl/unix/config.guess
mysql-gui-common/library_gc/ftgl/unix/config.sub
mysql-query-browser/source/linux/gtksourceview/config.guess
mysql-query-browser/source/linux/gtksourceview/config.sub

Moreover, those files have inside timestamp='2005-09-19',
although according to copyright years they are from 2003.

mysql-query-browser/source/linux/gtksourceview/config.sub
mysql-query-browser/source/linux/gtksourceview/config.guess

All mentioned files have to be updated.

Thanks

Hi,

I have already tried to remove my ~/.eclipse but it did not help.

$>ls -l /usr/share/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.osgi_3.1.1.jar

I have no java from sun anymore on my box.

I have try to purge all my eclipse installation (apt-get remove --purge
eclipse*) and to reinstall but it did not help.

After this eclipse reinistall, I have tried eclipse -debug.
Here is the first lines of log file :

Bug#343471: bash: In the command line, problem when the line reaches the last column of the terminal

2005-12-16 Thread Vincent Lefevre
On 2005-12-16 00:49:11 +0100, Matthias Klose wrote:
> please could you explain "sometimes"?

I've done more tests. The problem always occurs (not only in xterm),
except when I do a "reset" from bash. To reproduce it, press 'a' and
wait for the a's to reach the right of the terminal.

I have the prompt:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

Then I press 'a' and wait:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ aaa
bash: aa: command
not found
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

See? Then I type 'reset' and retry, try again after starting a bash
subshell, and another time after exiting this subshell:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$
aa
bash: aa: command
not found
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ bash
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ aaa
bash: aa: command
not found
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ exit
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$
aa
bash: aa: command
not found
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

Same problem after removing by .bash_profile and .bashrc files.
But this problem doesn't occur when executing "bash --norc".

OK. I've had enough of this, please.

Since the technical side of the bug report has been excessively dealt with,
I suggest closing it as "not a bug", since we have an Eclipse developer's
confirmation.

As far as the non-technical side of the bug report goes, I'd suggest
that Erwin takes that discussion somewhere else. We're building a
universal operating system, and abusing the bug tracker for flamewars
does not help. Thank you.

I agree with this. Since you are the new maintainer and have been fixing
up this page, perhaps you'd could look into this split aswell?

I only use one of the utilities from the package and I get 4 really
different other tools which I'll never use. Splitting them up seems to
make the most sense, even more in the light of the issue reported by the
original submitter:

Still without my .bash_profile and .bashrc files:

When I start bash with "bash --rcfile /etc/bash.bashrc", the problem
occurs. But if I type "bash --norc" then "source /etc/bash.bashrc",
it doesn't occur. What's the difference between them?

The versions '0.0.0' look really suspicious. They are either cached in
~/.eclipse or ~/workspace/.metadata. As you have already tried to remove
the ~/.eclipse dir I guess its the later.

Can you please try to rename your ~/workspace dir for testing purposes?
(And rename ~/.eclipse at the same time too to have a clean start).

> If this bug is related to a crappy file which is not under control of eclipse

That is okay. Others might have the same problems when using eclipse. I
still have a bad feeling that this bug is related to an XML handling bug in
libgcj6.

Michael

Bug#329396: conky: Draw string

2005-12-16 Thread Elie De Brauwer
Package: conky
Version: 1.3.1-1
Followup-For: Bug #329396

Drawing a string works:
conky -t bluh
conky -ob -t bluh

both seems to work, so it doesn't seem to be glx/video related (which might
be an issue on my laptop). Also the torsmo works out of the box. _BUT_ it get
the following messages on screen:

directory
torsmo: can't open '/sys/bus/i2c/devices/0-0050/temp2_input': No such file or
directory
torsmo: drawing to root window
torsmo: drawing to single buffer

Which is exactly the place where the strace stops. _SO_

I removed the i2c_i801 module:

After this both conky and torsmo start up perfectly.

Hello,

Can you do me a favor and try to build the 2.3.0 package at

A version is needed from this year, which is available in the
autotools-dev packages that are in current sarge, and sid.

You can simply copy new one manually, but it can also be done
automatically using the method described in

/usr/share/doc/autotools-dev/README.Debian.gz

It would also be nice if you can ask upstream to
include these changes in their next release.

Thanks for cooperation

I only found a thread named 'Bits from the release team: the plans for

months are what you consider 'recently' before starting to read :-).

Bug#343578: dpkg: delete available-new when 'No space left on device'

2005-12-16 Thread A Mennucc
Package: dpkg
Version: 1.13.11.0.1
Severity: normal

hi

did you ever ran out of disk space while installing/upgrading packages?
When the dreaded message "dpkg: . No space left on device" appears,
you readily know it is time for a coffe and 25 minutes of messy
hacking in your Debian box.

apt-get (and aptitude for that matter) are no help: they will
stubbornly insist on reinstalling the last package that failed ("hey
APT, guess what... since it failed, it will not succeed next time
around" ; unfortunately Super Cows do not have good ears :-) )

While you are cursing APT and the relatives, dpkg is not helping
either: whenever it fails, it will leave two nice huge files around,
/var/lib/dpkg/status-new and /var/lib/dpkg/available-new . Those two
files are carefully designed to fill out your / device up to the last
byte, so that any following command you issue will fail choking.

So here is my letter to Santa Bug: dear Santa, I promise I will be a
better hacker next year (yes, I know I should not replace obnoxious
sounds into my wife favourite videogames); but, pleeease, when 'dpkg'
fails while writing /var/lib/dpkg/status-new and
/var/lib/dpkg/available-new , could it also delete them?

You seem to have quite a mixture of installed and configured versions on

Indeed, it looks new - and this indicates that probably the other one
has been fixed by updating tetex-bin, or by trying to configure it
again. Do you have a log of the update of tetex-bin available?

Bug#342747: randomly cuts out previous song when starting crossfade

2005-12-16 Thread Magnus Holmgren
I experience this bug too. (I hope we're talking about the same bug. The
current song is cut off from the end, and the
next song starts instead. It happens with simple crossfade (which IIUTC
is just advanced crossfade with fadein=fadeout=-offset) as well.) I've
experimented with different settings, and to me it appears that the
problem only occurs when shuffle mode is on. I addition, seeking within
the current song or in some cases other fiddling around in certain other
ways causes the next crossfade to work as expected, but when the player
is left alone the problem occurs at almost every song change.

Typical debug output:

Looks like the crossfader is impatient and thinks that the end of the
playlist has been reached when BMP takes too long to start decoding the
next song. The README says "* Songchange timeout: [obsoleted by new
songchange detection]" but apparently it can't distinguish between a
song change and end of playback (which can be seen as a songchange to
nothing). The net effect is that of a rapid Stop/Next/Play sequence.

Since manual stop can be detected reliably, there's no need for the
crossfader to assume eop after less than 50 ms. It can wait far longer
than that, as long as the mixing buffer is adequate. In fact, I thought
it should wait for the songchange timeout, which is fixed at 500 ms
according to the configuration dialog.

Bug#343583: kernel-source-2.4.27: kernel-source and kernel-image version out of sync for Sparc

2005-12-16 Thread M. Hotze
Package: kernel-source-2.4.27
Version: 2.4.27-10sarge1
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

-- System Information:
Debian Release: 3.1
Architecture: sparc (sparc64)
Kernel: Linux 2.4.27-2-sparc64
Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1)

Hello,

When attempting to make some small modifications to the Sparc kernel, in
general, one runs into problems making it, because the version of the available
source code does not match the available image version.

Installed image and source via dselect:
kernel-image-2.4.27-2-sparc64_2.4.27-9sarge1_sparc.deb
kernel-source-2.4.27_2.4.27-10sarge1_all.deb

I could not find matching pairs of them using in ftp.debian.org either.

Challanged though, I've first made a kernel image using the config-2.4.27 file
which was placed in /boot (during install of Sarge, it's now put there, which
is ok!). I compiled like explained in
http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/sparc/ch08s04.html.en. After dpkg -i, It
showed my kernel and the original kernel differed. I found out the config files
of the source (in /usr/src/kernel-source-2.4.27/arch/sparc64) and image (in
/boot) differed. Apart from that, I think the source code itself is different
too, at least the version numbers differ...

I did not succeed running this kernel by the way, because system halted after
rebooting (Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:01), but that's a
problem to be posted somewhere else.

Solution for the image/source version difference would be to synchronize the
two. It's an easy fix, and I think a lot of users would benefit from.

Thanks!
Maarten

I don't use it personally, but according to the manual AUCTEX does have
support for inverse search.

It should be possible with AUCTeX, too. According to the manual, even
AUCTeX in sarge supports forward and inverse search.

I think xdvi-search.el is useful for people that use the standard TeX
mode (which is perhaps more suited for plain TeX), but if anything is
missing in AUCTeX that xdvi-search.el has, it should rather be
integrated in AUCTeX. But I assume that the AUCTeX developers already
had a look at xdvi-search.el

I don't see why.

Bug#298829: dependencies on fuse-module

2005-12-16 Thread Eduard Bloch
You should just drop this dependency, it is pointless since 2.6.14 does
provide fuse. I have done similar things with sl-modem-source, have been
in a similar situation and finally I dropped that dependencies. Users
should be clever enough to read the description.

Bug#339688: any ETA for this bug?

2005-12-16 Thread Eduard Bloch
Hello,

this bug is blocking some development. I have heard about troubles with
user management in fuse-utils but this should not prevent other package
upgrades. In my case it blocks the latest C++ transition.

I plan to NMU fuse with the new version and maybe some obvious fixes
before this year ends!

Dear Lionel,

thanks for reporting that bug; but it's not correctly rated with
"grave". arabtex.map is part of a separate package, and is only
installed by a subgroup of our users, and it clearly doesn't make the
package unusable for most of them.

> I suppose that if arabtex got configured, it would move arabtex.map in
> the right place and permit tetex to be configured:

Yes, you are right. It's a bug in arabtex, but in fact it's the code
that Norbert and I suggested that causes the problem. This is what
happens:

- arabtex 3.11-7 has its map file in /etc/texmf/dvips/map/arabtex.map,
and an updmap.cfg snippet in /etc/texmf/updmap.d/10arabtex.cfg that
references that map file. But the magic comment is missing in
  10arabtex.cfg in 3.11-7

- before arabtex is unpacked, the preinst detects that arabtex.map is
  unchanged and removes it

- arabtex and the tetex apckages are unpacked, the new arabtex.map is
still arabtex.map.dpkg-new, and the new 10arabtex.cfg (with the magic
comment) is still 10arabtex.cfg.dpkg-new, while the old 10arabtex.cfg
  is still there

- tetex-bin is configured and runs update-updmap and updmap, and now it
looks for arabtex.map but cannot find it.

So far for the analysis. I don't have enough time to think of a clean
solution. Maybe, since the conffile placements change, anyway, we
should do the removals and moves in postinst?

Bug#343471: bash: In the command line, problem when the line reaches the last column of the terminal

2005-12-16 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Same problem on PowerPC after upgrading from bash 3.0-17 to
bash 3.1-1 (bash 3.0-17 didn't have this problem).

The problem isn't related to $TERM, I can reproduce it with TERM=vt100
for instance.

Bug#343591: sawfish: locks writing to file descriptor 5 (esd socket)

2005-12-16 Thread José Carlos Benfati
Package: sawfish
Version: 1:1.3+cvs20050709-4
Severity: important

After many times having my display locked (only the mouse cursor moves)
I found every time sawfish was stopped in a read(5,...). More stracing
showed that file descriptor 5 is, at that point, a socket opened with
esd sound daemon. Killing sawfish makes gnome-session spawns another
instance of it, and that instance stops at the very same point.

Workaround is disable event sounds.

Killing esd does not solve the problem, either.

I suspect esd locks and the socket buffer fills up after a few sound
events played.
But sawfish should have a timeout when reading from ESD, shouldn't it?

Bug#343592: yaird: IDE works in PIO mode only because of wrong ide driver included in initrd

2005-12-16 Thread Roman Dubtsov
Package: yaird
Version: 0.0.12-1
Severity: normal

Hello.

On my system (nforce2-based) yaird includes in initrd.img both amd74xx
and generic ide pci drivers and loads them in the following order

/sbin/insmod
'/lib/modules/2.6.15-rc5-2-k7-debug/kernel/drivers/ide/pci/generic.ko'
/sbin/insmod
'/lib/modules/2.6.15-rc5-2-k7-debug/kernel/drivers/ide/pci/amd74xx.ko'

The result is that IDE drivers start woring in PIO mode only (both
channels are taken by generic driver.

NFORCE2: port 0x01f0 already claimed by ide0
NFORCE2: port 0x0170 already claimed by ide1
NFORCE2: neither IDE port enabled (BIOS)

The temporary solution is to build custom initrd.img, deleting
generic.ko and modifying init script (which also lacks insmod
ide-generic.ko).

Is seems that this problem was discussed in debian-user some time ago:

Bug#343594: xlibmesa-gl-dev: too much warnings when using 'gcc -Wshadow'

2005-12-16 Thread A Mennucc
Package: xlibmesa-gl-dev
Version: 6.8.2.dfsg.1-11
Severity: minor
Tags: patch

hi

I usually compile using 'gcc -Wall -Wshadow' ; but some includes in GL
generate too many warnings, as for example

/usr/X11R6/include/GL/gl.h:1427: warning: declaration of ‘j1’ shadows a global
declaration
/usr/include/bits/mathcalls.h:239: warning: shadowed declaration is here
/usr/X11R6/include/GL/glext.h:3369: warning: declaration of ‘index’ shadows a
global declaration
/usr/include/string.h:304: warning: shadowed declaration is here

Here is the patch: please change /usr/X11R6/include/GL/glext.h
using the sed command
 sed 's/int index/int gl_index/'
or similar; and apply the patch in attachment to /usr/X11R6/include/GL/gl.h

thanks

I can reliably reproduce this behaviour from sarge systems running a
backport of mercurial 0.7-6 when connecting to one specific machine
running current unstable. With another unstable machine I only see hangs
when removing my .ssh directory, otherwise it works fine. So do
connections unstable->unstable, unstable->sarge, sarge->sarge. Puzzled.

Bug#343595: shadow: [a-z] must be used in maintainer scripts only under C locale

2005-12-16 Thread Denis Barbier
Package: shadow
Severity: normal

Hi,

[a-z] may not represent all 26 ASCII lowercase letters in regular
expressions, eg. Estonian collation sorts z between s and t:
  $ echo rstuvwxyz | LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 sed -e 's/[a-z]//g'

  $ echo rstuvwxyz | LC_ALL=et_EE.UTF-8 sed -e 's/[a-z]//g'
  tuvwxy
As shown above, this applies to sed, but also awk, grep, expr
  $ echo tuv | LC_ALL=et_EE.UTF-8 awk '/[a-z]/ {print}'
  $ echo tuv | LC_ALL=et_EE.UTF-8 grep [a-z]
  $ LC_ALL=et_EE.UTF-8 expr tuv : [a-z]

and many more.
On the other hand, some commands always work with C collation rules,
most notably tr:
  $ echo 1rstuvwxyz2 | LC_ALL=et_EE.UTF-8 tr -d a-z
  12
or perl and python if they are not told to switch to user's locale.

One must then switch to C locale to avoid those collation issues,
see attached patch. I also added switches to 'tr' even if it is not
needed for now because documentation tells that 'tr' may get fixed.

The first.

Add an interface to change the setting on device creation and delegate
the problem to the tools.

devmapper don't provide disks. It provides a view (in the SQL meaning)
of block devices.

Yes, I overwrite them on my machines.

deviver-mapper uses major and minor for the communication, only the

Bug#343598: trac: permission *_ADMIN does not include *_VIEW - conflict with documentation

2005-12-16 Thread Ph. Marek
X-Reportbug-Version: 3.18
X-Debbugs-Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Package: trac
Version: 0.9.2-1
Severity: important

In the documentation http://projects.edgewall.com/trac/wiki/TracPermissions
I read:
MILESTONE_ADMIN All MILESTONE_* permissions

But if I give a user MILESTONE_ADMIN, REPORT_ADMIN, TICKET_ADMIN,
ROADMAP_ADMIN and WIKI_ADMIN the roadmap tab is not visible and
cannot be used - "the MILESTONE_VIEW permission is missing ...".

I believe there's a similar problem with the other _ADMIN vs _VIEW permissions.

Simply giving all _ADMINs _VIEW rights is bad, because the permission list gets
unnecessary long.

I know that I could define a permission group - but that's what _ADMIN should
already do.

That's an error. I intended for it to be "important". Probably my hand
slipped between the "3" and "4" (or whatever numbers reportbug
assigns these severities in its menu).

Bug#330622: That XML formatting bug

I've adopted r-cran-xml and uploaded 0.99-3-1. Thanks to Rafael for
maintaining it initially, and to Andrew for the more recent QA upload.

Bug#343601: udev: [a-z] must be used in maintainer scripts only under C locale

2005-12-16 Thread Denis Barbier
Package: udev
Version: 0.076-5
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,

[a-z] may not represent all 26 ASCII lowercase letters in regular
expressions, eg. Estonian collation sorts z between s and t:
  $ echo rstuvwxyz | LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 sed -e 's/[a-z]//g'

  $ echo rstuvwxyz | LC_ALL=et_EE.UTF-8 sed -e 's/[a-z]//g'
  tuvwxy
As shown above, this applies to sed, but also awk, grep, expr
  $ echo tuv | LC_ALL=et_EE.UTF-8 awk '/[a-z]/ {print}'
  $ echo tuv | LC_ALL=et_EE.UTF-8 grep [a-z]
  $ LC_ALL=et_EE.UTF-8 expr tuv : [a-z]
  $
and many more.
One must then switch to C locale to avoid those collation issues,
see attached patch. It is very unlikely that someone gets hit by
this problem in udev.preinst, but who knows, maybe an Estonian guy
with more than 20 IDE disks on his machine will complain one day?

Thanks

Yay :-)

Not that it'll affect me until it's updated to a newer version than
sarge offered me the other week, since I *do* have it installed, but
other users of testing will be better for it :-)

2005-12-16 Thread Bas Couwenberg
Package: gkrellmd
Version: 2.2.7-5

I've patched gkrellmd.postinst to not use debhelper/dh_installinit
because this installs the init script with priority 20.

I've used the code generated by dh_installinit, but added priority 21.

This should make gkrellmd start after hddtemp, therefor making hddtemp
available for gkrellmd and make the temps be available to the gkrellm
clients.

Nevermind, I just did not remember how raid-devfs.sh.
The problem is that I do not understand why it's not working in d-i and
I do not have any CCISS hardware to test it.
Can you further investigate why it's not working? Is the script run at all?
Does the script work after the system has been installed?

Bug#343599: additional information

2005-12-16 Thread Gregoire Masliah
If possible, should be build against libsc6 which is available on sarge
amd64.

# apt-get install ghemical

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
ghemical: Depends: libsc5 but it is not installable

Bug#343599: ghemical: This package depends on libsc5 which is not exist in sarg e amd64

2005-12-16 Thread Michael Banck
Hi,

Which version of ghemical are you looking at?

The .deb from
http://amd64.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/ghemical/ghemical_1.90-2_amd64.deb
depends on libsc6c2, which does not exist either. The problem is that
ghemical does not build on amd64 currently, due to bug #341798. Once
this bug is resolved, a rebuild of ghemical should make it installable
again.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Michael

google suggests that it needs at least libgtkmm >= 2.6.

I didn't test this however as rebuilding that on sarge would mean
rebuilding a score of libraries.

Maybe you should still change the build dependency for libgtkmm from
libgtkmm-2.4-dev to libgtkmm-2.4-dev (>= 1:2.6) however.

Cheers,
Peter

When /etc/init.d/ipsec starts, the system completely stops responding. No

that makes a difference.
