Bug#375084: libksba8: New version breaks kmail S/mime-validation (and maybe other s/mime-validation as well)

2006-06-23 Thread Sune Vuorela
Package: libksba8
Version: 0.9.14-1
Severity: important

Hi!

After upgrading to 0.9.14-1, my kmail cannot anymore validate S/mime
signed emails.
Downgrading to 0.9.13-1 from testing solves the problem.

I think that it is upstream issue 533, which is solved in newes version
http://www.intevation.de/roundup/aegypten/issue533

A upgrade would be much appreciated.

/Sune

IIRC, we fixed this bug by including the file.

Is it simply a problem with /etc/lirc/lirc-modules-source.conf
permission not readable by user ?

Bug#375059: packagesearch: Files list shows only some files for uninstalled package

2006-06-23 Thread Benjamin Mesing
Hello,

thanks for the report. I believe this to be a bug in apt-file, and have
contacted its maintainer to verify this. Internally I do an "apt-file -F
list ", which gives the result you see in packagesearch.

Best regards

Ah, I see! Found the line, it's 130 in misc.c, will change "vi" there
to "sensible-editor" which is there for purpose, and finally add a
Depends on editor. :)

Thank you again, David. Julien, this will be fixed with the next

please provide a way to reproduce it (I can't, which rather not surprise

Note that IMHO this has nothing to do with upstream#1237863... and I
don't think debian applies custom patches to KDEpim, but I've not

Yes there is a difference!

Old code:

New code:
if ! log-output -t finish-install "$script"; then

The ! before log-output looses you the exit code...

It does not, at least not here. It will continue scanning the
filesystem and die some time later.

Well, I'd say it should be fine to send a signal when one process
receives a TERM/INT/whatever signal. This should be enough for the
other side.

> ps: could you give me more detailed hint on how to reproduce it
> (if there is more detail to have)

You do need to wait until it's waiting for changes from the other
server.

I just fire up a unison process and kill it. The two machines are
piper [local] and lapse:

piper:~> screen -d -m unison piper-lapse ; sleep 5 ; killall -INT unison ; \
ps u -C unison; ssh lapse ps u -C unison

USER PID %CPU %MEMVSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND
USER PID %CPU %MEMVSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND
madduck 21432 67.0 1.8 41644 35588 pts/15 Rs+ 10:53 0:00 unison -server

It's definitely not easy to reproduce, but quite possible. But it
seems to only happen when we're waiting for changes from server, and
unison *does* die on the remote side when it's done chugging. It
would be polite to let it know that it can stop molesting the disk.

That does not suffice to assume the bug is in g++. Furthermore, it's
IMHO unreasonable to expect the gcc maintainers (who are not familiar
with the package) to debug this.

Please try to produce a test case that clearly demonstrates this is a
compiler bug, that is, a single source file with well-defined
semantics.

This is an intended rule. The original Zookeper game has it, too. I
believe it is a compensation for the advantage the special tile gives.

Bug#375094: please allow build on different architecture

2006-06-23 Thread martin f krafft
Package: java-package
Version: 0.27
Severity: wishlist

I am on an amd64 machine, and when I try to build the x86 package:

piper:..bian/pkg/sun-j2sdk1.5> make-jpkg --changes jdk-1_5_0_07-linux-i586.bin
Creating temporary directory: /tmp/make-jpkg.uPdyc23598
Loading plugins: blackdown-j2re.sh blackdown-j2sdk.sh common.sh ibm-j2re.sh
ibm-j2sdk.sh j2re.sh j2sdk-doc.sh j2sdk.sh j2se.sh sun-j2re.sh sun-j2sdk-doc.sh
sun-j2sdk.sh

No matching plugin was found.
Removing temporary directory: done

There's no need to do any compilation, right? So it should be
possible to trivially let i386 packages be created from the proper
source on any architecture.

Not sure why lspci shows IBM Unknown device, as in Fedora Core 5 for
powerpc it is shown correctly as 'Subsystem: IBM ServeRAID-4H'.

I am using 'Debian GNU/Linux testing "Etch" - Official Snapshot powerpc'
downloaded 23/06/2006.
Same IPS driver behaviour exhibited on official 'sarge' 3.1r2 netboot CD.

Bug#375061: interrupting unison leaves process on remote machine

2006-06-23 Thread sylvain . le-gall
Hello,

martin f krafft writes:

also sprach Sylvain Le Gall <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> [2006.06.23.0813 +0200]:

I was thinking that the remote process will finish dying by itself !!!
(SIGPIPE or something similar).

It does not, at least not here. It will continue scanning the
filesystem and die some time later.

What about creating a sort of "heartbeat" to check that remote and
local process are still alive ? (IE you send at regular interval
a packet of data, if one of the process is dead, it cause
a SIGPIPE).

Well, I'd say it should be fine to send a signal when one process
receives a TERM/INT/whatever signal. This should be enough for the
other side.

Humm, i don't think it is possible to send a signal on every possible
case when unison died... It is better that each "living" unison check that
the other unison is still "alive"...

For example, i don't think it is possible to do anything after :
- having received a sig KILL or SEGV,
- a computer powerdown ;-)

ps: could you give me more detailed hint on how to reproduce it
(if there is more detail to have)

It
would be polite to let it know that it can stop molesting the disk

Humm, OK. I see the case you are describing. Well, i am not sure upstream
unison author will accept this, because it doesn't involve real data
corruption or something like that... I will try to contact them to have
this done, but it is not sure, they will ever try to solve this bug.

Kind regard
Sylvain Le Gall

We're not assuming it'll die. I am only talking about
a maintainer-invoked interrupt.

Thanks.
The same patch is already in pkg-ggz on Alioth though, together with a bunch
of others which will be reuploaded soon enough.
There's still not all of GGZ in Debian, even though the uploads started at the
beginning of the year (!), so please be patient.

I know. I think the best solution is to have the installer modify the
input-device and output-device variables to point to keyboard/screen.
There are a few cases in which you still want serial console. Some
models (eg 7200, I'm not sure if there are others) don't have OF support
for the onboard framebuffer. Serial console is your only option then.
The ANS (Apple Network Server) is likely to be run headless, so serial
OF console may be the right thing to do there. I think the installer
should propose a default I/O choice to the user based on the model and
then modify the OF vars based on the users choice.

Opinions welcome :)

Bug#375097: debconf switched from HOST to URI making new libnss-ldap unable to bind to the ldap server

2006-06-23 Thread Pierre Habouzit
Package: libnss-ldap
Version: 251-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

in previous versions, libnss-ldap asked for an host that was the ldap
server. I gave (like you can see in that body) and IP for it.

sadly, now you use the shared/ldapns/ldap-server for the *uri*
libnss-ldap.conf setting, and an IP is not a valid url. it has to be
ldap://aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd/ instead. quoting the "uri" setting and
reinstating the "host" one, made it work again.

You should in your configuration script, detect if the given setting
is:
  (1) an IP
  (2) a FQDN
  (3) sth that starts with ldaps?://

if (1) or (2) use the `host' setting, if (3) use the uri setting else
fail loudly.

Versions of packages libnss-ldap depends on:
ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.2Debian configuration management sy
ii libc6 2.3.6-15 GNU C Library: Shared libraries
ii libkrb531.4.3-7 MIT Kerberos runtime libraries
ii libldap22.1.30-13+b1 OpenLDAP libraries

Bug#360123: nfs-common: NFS filesystems not mounted on boot

2006-06-23 Thread Jim Hague
I have this problem too, on a recent (6/6/2006) install of etch.

The core problem is that the network is not available at the time mountnfs.sh
is run. The reason for this in turn is that the installer, not unreasonably,
configures the network as a hotpluggable device. The relevant stanza
of /etc/network/interfaces is:

# This is a list of hotpluggable network interfaces.
# They will be activated automatically by the hotplug subsystem.
mapping eth0
   script grep
   map eth0

# The primary network interface
allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

On my system (Asus Terminator K7, onboard SiS900), the kernel driver doesn't
deliver the hotplug 'eth0: Media Link On 100mbps full-duplex' message for
some time. In my case, the system has started on the rc2.d scripts by the
time it arrives and dhclient kicks off. There is therefore no network
interface configured when mountnfs.sh is run.

I have worked around this by reverting the network config to the old-fashioned

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

This forces the network link up at the required time. Of course, I lose the
hotplugginess of eth0.

This looks familiar to me. The broken db stops right in the middle of
a data line.

Are you using gzipped db, or did you gzip the files before encrypting
them in the message?

If you're using gzipped db, try gzip_dbout=no just out of curiosity.

Greetings

Bug#361997: #361997: cdebconf-newt: Scrollbar no longer covers top and bottom lines in selection lists

2006-06-23 Thread Frans Pop
severity 361997 minor
thanks

After seeing the correct display when running d-i in lowmem mode [1], I
was able to add the missing characters for the top and the bottom of the
scrollbar (up and down arrows). This solves the most urgent problem with
the scrollbar in d-i.

I have not been able to find which character is used for the "slider" in
the scrollbar which indicates the position in the list (see [1] also).
If you can tell us which character this is, that would be most
appreciated.

Bug#315641: Slang 1 removal vs. slsc

2006-06-23 Thread Nathanael Nerode
OK. Slsc is now one of *two* packages in unstable or testing using
slang1. The other one is jed, which is already using slang2 in
experimental, and will hopefully have that version in unstable soonish.

I guess you can keep maintaining slsc as long as you like -- you're
already the maintainer of the slang1 package. Or drop it whenever
you like; but you probably want to drop slang1 whenever you drop
slsc, which is why I sent this message. :-)

And thank you again for the precise report. Ye Fei, another Chinese

to Glibc, in the hope for more ideas.

Summary: In LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.GBK or -.GB2312 locale, Mutt displaying a
mail with Latin characters (coded in ISO-8859-1 or UTF-8) triggers a
segfault in regexec(). Note some of those Latin chars do exist in GBK or
GB2312 charset, just coded differently, and with a double-wide glyph
(wcwidth(0xe9) returns 2).

I am sorry but the directory webapps is only created by tomcat-webapps.
And this directory is required to lanch Tomcat4..

Bug#375105: FTBFS on 64bits: forbidden cast from 'char*' to 'int'

2006-06-23 Thread Roberto Pariset

Hi,

amaya_9.51-2 FTBFS with the following error:

This will happen on every 64 bit arch, since a pointer type (8 bytes) is

it looks like a bug in KlearlookStyle more than in kmail ... and I
suppose that you installed it through a manually compiled extension as
I don't see it packaged in debian.

can you confirm that ?

This violates best practice given by the Debian Library Packaging Guide:

In any case, I will fix this bug once proper runtime testing has been
done against the new gnutls version.

Indeed, I have tomcat-admin installed, which takes care of webapps
directory. But even tomcat-admin isn't required, it's all about server.xml.
I see the default server.xml contains some tomcat-webapps specifics. A
minimal server.xml should be packaged and explain the rest in
README.Debian or move it to examples.

Bug#375107: libnss-ldap: Various problems with the debconf templates

2006-06-23 Thread Thomas Huriaux
Package: libnss-ldap
Severity: minor

Hi,

Here is a list of problems I found related with Debconf templates. All
these bugs are trivial to fix, so I don't open separate bug reports for
each of them.
* You are shipping out of date po files, as noticed by lintian:
   W: libnss-ldap source: newer-debconf-templates
You should add debconf-updatepo to the clean target of your debian
  rules.
* Your templates do not follow the developers reference. This is also
  noticed by lintian:
   W: libnss-ldap: malformed-question-in-templates libnss-ldap/confperm
   W: libnss-ldap: using-question-in-extended-description-in-templates
   libnss-ldap/confperm
   W: libnss-ldap: malformed-prompt-in-templates shared/ldapns/base-dn
   W: libnss-ldap: malformed-question-in-templates libnss-ldap/dblogin
   W: libnss-ldap: using-question-in-extended-description-in-templates

   W: libnss-ldap: using-question-in-extended-description-in-templates
   libnss-ldap/override

   W: libnss-ldap: malformed-prompt-in-templates libnss-ldap/bindpw
   W: libnss-ldap: malformed-prompt-in-templates
   shared/ldapns/ldap_version
   W: libnss-ldap: malformed-prompt-in-templates
   shared/ldapns/ldap-server
   W: libnss-ldap: malformed-question-in-templates
   libnss-ldap/dbrootlogin
   W: libnss-ldap: malformed-prompt-in-templates libnss-ldap/rootbinddn
   W: libnss-ldap: malformed-prompt-in-templates libnss-ldap/rootbindpw
Please refer to
http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/ch-best-pkging-practices.en.html#s-bpp-config-mgmt
for further information.
* You are marking as translatable some strings that shouldn't:
_Default: ldap://127.0.0.1/
_Choices: 3, 2
* If you think "example" and "net" should be localized, please mark
Default: cn=manager,dc=example,dc=net
as translatable. Otherwise, please don't mark
_Default: dc=example,dc=net
_Default: cn=proxyuser,dc=example,dc=net
  as translatable.

All of these problems makes the work of translators very difficult. Once
you have fixed these problems, please use the podebconf-report-po tools
to ask translators for updated translations.

Cheers,

I don't think this is not a problem of Sylpheed-Claws, as the
filechooser is a standard GTK component. Disable thumbnails and you're
probably done.

Well, sending is a blocking operation, no surprise here. Remember
that the size of the mail is not the raw sum of text size and its
attachments size, these grow noticeably after encoding.

Well, that's a matter of taste. You think it's a really important
message, others may think is your duty to know the rules of the
newsgroups you're posting to and Claws is not there to remind you... :)
Others may even think the best option is not leting you post
attachments to such groups, but I don't know if there's a way to get
that info from NNTP server without posting first.

If nobody has already done you can file a wishlist for fully threading
operation.

While it tries to use threads for some things, sylpheed-claws-gtk2 is
not advertised as a fully threaded program AFAIK, so it may not be what
you need. Notice making it fully threaded is not a matter of a couple of
patches and involves re-designing.

> 3. There should be normal error-dialog telling user that this group
> doesn't accept binary attachments.

Sorry, as said before this is not a bug, is another wishlist. These
messages are server dependant and hard to translate properly, so I
don't think most users want to see them directly, maybe a "More
info..." button to open the log (or the last lines of log which caused
the error) is more adequate. Other ideas (or better: patches) welcome.

I've turned the bug into this whishlist, you can file the one about
threading operation if you whish.

Bug#375106: nautilus: Cannot open subdirectory in a DAV share created by gnome-user-share

2006-06-23 Thread Ondrej Valek
Package: nautilus
Version: 2.14.1-5
Severity: important

I've installed gnome-user-share package, which creates an apache2 DAV share
from user's ~/Public folder. This works
perfectly with Nautilus for moving, copying and deleting files. However, when I
create a directory in it
(e.g. ~/Public/MyDir), Nautilus can't access it, saying that the directory has
a MIME type "application/octet-stream".

Other DAV-enabled applications can access the subfolders. Konqueror works, even
gnomevfs-ls handles the subdirectory
correctly (lists its contents). Changing file permisssions of the dir makes no
difference. It doesn't matter how the
subdirectory was created (either by DAV client, or at DAV server), it never
works in nautilus.

Bug#314376: libgd2-noxpm should probably not depend on libx11-6

2006-06-23 Thread Ernest
Package: libgd2-noxpm
Version: 2.0.33-3
Followup-For: Bug #314376

Package libgd2-noxpm is installed here because of analog on a system with only a
web server. No X11, and not wanted.

The next version of libgd2-noxpm 2.0.33-4 wants me to install libx11-6
(direct dependency). As I don't want anything X11 on this server, this makes
the package uninstallable.

Since the version increase is only of 0.0.0-1, I do not think (but did
not check) that suddently libx11-6 is needed to use libgd2.

Thank you for your attention,

Hmmm. I can do it at will. Maybe i should have been more precise, sorry,
let's try again. Attached is my slapd.conf if that makes any difference.
I think it's because I try and start the second on a different port.

> /etc/init.d/slapd start (works)
> slapd -d 1 (fails, because port is in use)
slapd -d 1 -h ldaps://0.0.0.0:80/ (fails as db is in use)
> /etc/init.d/slapd stop (works, check pstree -u if slapd is running)
/etc/init.d/slapd stop (fails, pstree -u shows it running)
> slapd -d 1 (works, because slapd is stopped)
> /etc/init.d/slapd stop (works also, the 'slapd -d 1' is killed)

Attached is a trace of the problem.

I don't want a second instance, I just temporarily want a debugging
instance of slapd so I can grab a trace for other bug reports. I could
set up a second config etc. but this is a test system so I can pull the
main one down with no worries. I realise this might not be a very common
case, hence severity minor.

The second thing is that I want the debugging instance on port 80 so
that I can bypass a firewall that I'm too lazy to open up a port in. I'm
not running a webserver.

Again apologies for the poor first report, hopefully this one is better.

Bug#312819: RFP: olive -- console RSS reader

2006-06-23 Thread Matthieu Crapet

I looked a little at this software.

olive depends on libcurses-ui-perl.
libcurses-ui-perl is currently 0.95-5 (latest on cpan - 10 Dec 2004).
olive requires an extra patch for Curses/UI.pm.

However you can find the patch on the author's GForge (8 months old).
http://gforge.stud.inf.fh-bonn-rhein-sieg.de/scm/cvsweb.php/curses-ui/lib/Curses/?cvsroot=curses-ui

I don't think that releasing cvs snapshot of libcurses-ui-perl is good.

Bug#374993: Acknowledgement (karm: "Copy History to Clipboard"doesn't respect "All Tasks" option.)

2006-06-23 Thread Eric Lavarde - Debian Bugs
Hello,

I've found more in the mean time: the described behavior only appears
while a *sub-*task is selected; if a top task is selected, Alt+Ctrl+C
works as expected.

It would nevertheless be nice to have a fix.

Thanks, Eric

The Problem is the hypher in the base. To correct the bug you must
escape the hypher in the regex.

The attachment is the patch who fix the bug. At least I think so ;-)

Bug#375111: firefox segfault on some sites

2006-06-23 Thread mahashakti89
Package: firefox
Version: 1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.4-1
Severity: important

If I try to browse some sites like :
 www.lemonde.fr
 www.materiel.net
 www.quietmountain.org

or to open some links from other sites, fireox is crashing, I mean, closing
without error messages.
I created a new profile, tried it with -safe-mode option, disabled all
extensions, set the theme to default
 same result

I have to say that epiphany browser has the same problem, closing without
warnings if I try to access this sites.
 No problem with konqueror.

Bug#375115: libgalago1 ships unversionned files with respect to SONAME

2006-06-23 Thread Loïc Minier
Package: libgalago1
Version: 0.3.3-3
Severity: important

libgalago1 ships locale data below /usr/share/locale:
   /usr/share/locale/da/LC_MESSAGES/libgalago.mo
   /usr/share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES/libgalago.mo
   /usr/share/locale/pt_BR/LC_MESSAGES/libgalago.mo
this will be a pain on SONAME changes as the new package will need to
 conflict with the old one.

The upstream package should be changed to use a versionned name to
access locale data, or the package should be split with a -common and
dependencies permitting the old libgalago to use the new locale.
The later only works if libgalago only adds locale information
without ever removing anything, and hence is risky.

The same problem happened a few days ago. The mesg command should
write its name in its error messages, e.g.:

2006-06-23 Thread Loïc Minier
Package: libgalago-gtk0
Version: 0.3.4-1+b1
Severity: important

libgalago-gtk0 ships locale data below /usr/share/locale:
/usr/share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES/libgalago-gtk.mo
/usr/share/locale/pt_BR/LC_MESSAGES/libgalago-gtk.mo
this will be a pain on SONAME changes as the new package will need to
 conflict with the old one.

The upstream package should be changed to use a versionned name to
access locale data, or the package should be split with a -common and
dependencies permitting the old libgalago-gtk to use the new locale.
The later only works if libgalago-gtk only adds locale information
without ever removing anything, and hence is risky.

No offense taken here. Anyway, it's certainly better to have a separate

Hi !

It seems that, open F, "pdfinfo \"$file\" , works even better (no
problems with single quotes in file names).

Could you confirm ?

Bug#375116: lvm2: Snapshotting the root logical volume crashes the machine, makes it unbootable, and the snapshot can't even be removed when booting from a recovery system

2006-06-23 Thread Sam Morris
Package: lvm2
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

I unwittingly ran into bug #288354 today. Creating the snapshot froze my
machine, as described in that bug report.

After a while I rebooted the machine, but it will no longer boot up:

I booted into a recovery system and the various filesystems and volumes
seemed fine:

In fact, in version 0.97-5 which is currently in

The bug is corrected in 0.97-10 :

This bugs does not always happens because you need to have doc-base

2006-06-23 Thread Florian Laws
Hello,

I think this kind of misses the point.
The bug is on systems with glibc 2.3.5 already installed.
A versioned dependency would force those systems to upgrade to a
newer glibc release.

Furthermore, I suspect this bug will occur with older glibc releases
as well.

Kind regards,

Florian

how do you mean? even if the source device is a logical volume, it may
contain a filesystem.

or do you mean the old swap check script which checked for partition
type 'swap'? this one doesn't exist in current cryptsetup any more.
but here, you're right as it fails for logical volumes.

the latest plan for swap encrypted with a random key is to check per
default for known filesystems on the source device, and fail if one
is found. this protects filesystems, uncrypted swap partitions and LUKS
devices from being overwritten.
the only cases that are known to me, where data loss may still occur
are encrypted devices without an identifying header, like plain dm-crypt
devices.

i don't like the idea to check for string 'swap' in the source or target
device, as this would enforce even more restrictions to the admin.

Bug#375119: totem-gstreamer: when playing .m3u play please adjust scale factor

2006-06-23 Thread Anand Kumria
Package: totem-gstreamer
Version: 1.4.1-2
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

When playing a .m3u (a text file with URLs to a list of .mp3) it'd be
nice if totem 'mp3gain" each stream. No idea if it appropriate to do
this at the totem level or the gstreamer level.

But it'd be a nice feature to have.

I also want to jump on the "please package 2.6.4" bandwagon. When you

If the volume name contains the string "swap", this is pretty
unlikely.

Logical volumes are in this category, too.

Currently, it does not work at all. How could soemthing else be more
restrictive?

Anyway, what about my other suggestion, checking for the device size?

Ok, but it would be nice to have had that module included in the initrd
automatically. Rebooting after the crash is not the best time to find
out that I need to rebuild the initrd. :)

Indeed, I had to run reportbug on another system where lvm2 was not
installed, and so the version headers was missing. The machine in
question is running Sarge, so lvm2 is at version 2.01.04-5 and
kernel-image-2.6.8-3-686 is at version 2.6.8-16sarge2.

tbm. I have reported this upstream and will use this bug to make it
easier for me to remember about this issue and monitor its progress
upstream.

Bug#375123: test doesn't work properly with ACL permissions

2006-06-23 Thread Warren Turkal
Subject: coreutils: test doesn't work properly with ACL permissions
Package: coreutils
Version: 5.94-1
Severity: important

NOTE: I have only confirmed this behavior in the version in testing.

The test -r command doesn't seem to work with ACL contolled permissions.

wtynthes:/var/log$ ls -ld debsync/
drwxrwx---+ 2 root adm 30 2006-06-22 11:47 debsync/
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log$ getfacl debsync/
# file: debsync
# owner: root
# group: adm
user::rwx
user:debmirror:rwx
group::rwx
mask::rwx
other::---

Notice that the debsync has an ACL to allow the debmirror user rwx.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log$ test -r debsync
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log$ echo $?
1

This behavior is correct. My normal user doesn't have read access.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log$ sudo su
Password:
coryanthes:/var/log# test -r debsync
coryanthes:/var/log# echo $?
0

Again, this behavior is correct. Root has read access.

coryanthes:/var/log# su -s /bin/bash debmirror
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log$ test -r debsync/
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log$ echo $?
1

This behavior is incorrect. The debmirror user should have read access
granted by the ACL.

Here is the how the volume is mounted.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log$ mount | grep '\/var\/log'
/dev/mapper/vg0-var--log on /var/log type xfs (rw)

Similar behavior is observed with 'test -w' leading me to believe that
test has no support for ACLs. Here is evidence to support that
hypothesis.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log$ ldd /usr/bin/test
linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xe000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 (0xb7e8)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7fbe000)

The test binary is clearly not linked to the libacl. I guess it could be
statically linked, but even /bin/ls links to libacl. Therefore, it seems
test was never compiled with support for ACLs. However, I guess it could just
be testing for write access with the standard C lib. In that case, I don't
have any idea what the root cause is.

Please don't hesitate to ask for more info. I will provide it if possible.

Thanks,
wt

Bug#375122: scribus-ng: forced auto-raise for property dialog

2006-06-23 Thread Toni Mueller
Package: scribus-ng
Version: 1.3.3.2.dfsg-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

I see the following problem: I have a new scribus file opened, insert an
image frame, then open the image property dialog belonging to said
frame, as well as a dialog to load the image from a file on disk. I also
have an xterm open (fvwm here). The xterm sits on top of all three
mentioned scribus windows, but when I move the mouse over the scribus
image property window, the whole application pops to front (I have
focus-follows-mouse). Moving the mouse over the other scribus windows
has no effect.

Best,

Bug#375126: gmailfs completely non-functional

2006-06-23 Thread Tim Kelley
Package: gmailfs
Version: 0.4-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

gmail and fuse and friends install just finei; fuse modules loads with
no complaint. However, when trying to mount a gmailfs, I get this (as
root):

[EMAIL PROTECTED] / mount -t gmailfs none /mnt -o [EMAIL
PROTECTED],password=my_password,fsname=gu67544d
gmailfs.py:Gmailfs:mountpoint: '/mnt'

The password is correct. Everything I'm reading online indicates a newer
version of gmail is needed. However, that leaves the version in sarge
broken. Is this correct? Is there anyone using (stock) sarge and gmailfs that
works?

Bug#375127: vim: bufwinleave does not work across tabs

2006-06-23 Thread Kamaraju Kusumanchi
Package: vim
Version: 1:7.0-017+8
Severity: normal

To reproduce the bug

$cat temp1.txt
This is temp1.txt

$cat temp2.txt
This is temp2.txt

$cat ~/.vimrc
au BufWinLeave *.txt mkview
au BufWinEnter *.txt loadview

$gvim temp1.txt

Now inside gvim do

:tabe temp2.txt

this will open temp2.txt in a new tab. Inside this tab enter

:q

Now quit temp1.txt also by doing

:q

At this point 2 files have to be written to ~/.vim/view . However only
one file is written.

$ls ~/.vim/view/
~=+temp=+temp1.txt=

If I replace the :tabe command by :sp or :vs then two files (one for
temp1.txt, one for temp2.txt) are written as expected. I am seeing the
same behavior in vim as well as gvim.

I initially asked this question on vim user's mailing list
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vim/message/70439 and people there cannot
reproduce this problem. So I am guessing it is a problem in the debian
package which is why I am reporting here.

thanks
raju

Bug#324978: RE : Re: GPL'ed vlc out of Etch

2006-06-23 Thread Clément Stenac
Hello,

> Or is it a problem of bundled non-free extra codecs ?
> Would it help to move vlc to the non-free section
> (with Sun's JDK) to get it in Etch ?

No, it wouldn't. The problem does not really come from the licence of any
part of VLC itself, but from how the debian/copyright file acknowledges
them.

Some work has already been done in that regard, but is not yet finished

Bug#369343: Workaround

2006-06-23 Thread Thiemo Seufer
Known problem, this happens because the underlying library supports
64bit addresses, and MIPS uses sign-extended addresses. The workaround
is to specify the full address, i.e. --start-address=0x8000.
Using --start-address=0x8000 tells the program to start from
0x8000, which is empty space for 32bit programs.
