Yes bluetooth seems to be a bit tricky, unfortunately I don't use it so
I can not much help in this area...

be user mountable, given that the user has write permission on mount
point.

That script is one you've written yourself? The logfile you're generating
and the logrotate script you give there aren't standard.

Ok, I removed it (and it happened again this morning), so it would be 
mailed to root:


/etc/cron.daily/logrotate:

run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/logrotate exited with return code 1

So it fails on:
create 644 dnsadm arcs

But:
paling:/etc/logrotate.d# id dnsadm
uid=923(dnsadm) gid=15000(arcs) groups=15000(arcs),4(adm)

And in the man I see:

create mode owner group



On a busy site, bind9 may take more than 2 seconds to save its state and
release its UDP sockets. (Have a look at /etc/init.d/bind9 to see how it
implements the restart function.)

This is very unlikely to be a fault in logrotate.

I am tagging this bug report "upstream".  It may be that the bug is already
fixed in the development version of WebCalendar.  Could you please check the
CVS sources to see if this is true, such that we can tag this bug report
"fixed-upstream"?  It seems that the relevant portions of code are in files
import_handler.php [1] and includes/xcal.php [2].

 I did; I heard complaints from plenty of people that aptitude (even
 when upgraded first, that is they were complaining about etch's
 aptitude) was removing way too much stuff on upgrades.  At least two or
 three french DDs confirmed that apt-get was behaving better for them.

 I didn't do a lot of upgrades, and I'm quite cautious and using very
 similar configurations on most servers I've upgraded, plus some kernel
 backports: in my particular experience, aptitude behaved correctly, and
 I have nothing to complain about.  I suppose desktop upgrades are
 harder.

Yes, but the libs no longer exist in the archive at that version so I
think apt is getting a little confused.

Basically be patient.  i386 hasn't built the whole of the new xfce 4.4.1
yet.  You can track its status at:

Please consider running testing if you want to always have satisfied
dependencies or are unsure why this happens.

Indeed?  I agree that it has no meaning currently (except maybe for
dvipdfm).  But didn't we find consensus about an idea how to implement

Bug#419948: munin: stark cpu increase sarge->etch

updating a stable server from sarge to etch, the amount of CPU munin 
uses presumably for graphing has increased 4- or 5-fold. Please see 
attached graph (I nice'd the cronjob, all other services run with 
normal priority).


While we all know that new software always needs more resources, I
think this is a bit gross, especially given that it's the same amount
of graphs that look absolutely the same.

I realize that the actual graphing is not done by munin, but I'm not 
sure exactly where all these CPU cycles are spent, so please reassign

if appropriate.


  It is done by RRDtool.  Could you try downgrading librrds-perl to the
 Sarge version, or trying to nice only the munin-graph subprocess, to
 make sure it's the graphing that eats resources?  Edit
 /usr/bin/munin-cron to do that.

I lost track about all the proposals, counter-proposals, etc. I still
think that a 
README.papersize
would be the better solution.

Anyway, I will reread the bug report and try to understand it (and the
problem).

But, for Frans, if you want portable documents, use geometry, otherwise
dvips/dvipdfm(x) etc pick up anything from letter to c5, depending on
the configuration of these programs.

It's a configuration file marked as conffile.

% dpkg -s joe | grep lua.jsf
 /etc/joe/syntax/lua.jsf 7aba9521a3f3c163292f4b0f78e240ec

If you remove a conffile, it stays removed (i.e. deleted is a valid state
for a conffile). You can recover it from the .deb package or you can purge
joe and reinstall it from scratch (but if purging, first make sure you don't
scrap any local changes).

So I guess the libs have to be renamed after all.

PLease de-install xmltex, then configuration should succeed. This is in
fact a bug in xmltex, and needs a lot of fixes.

Lets wait, less work and with the release just done theres no real
panic. Is there any chance upstream can be convinced to address the
format change for 0.30 ? a minimum of 770 users seems a big enough user
base to be nice too ...

kpdf has moved upstream to xpdf 3.02 which seems to fix it according to the

Upstream is is planning a release of schooltool, but not of schoolbell.

So, yes, I guess requesting the removal of schoolbell is the right

You mean for the user-data?  I asked upstream about it:

 we will break a lot from 0.2x to 0.30 .. but we will write
kind of summary to track what to have to be done to port the
setup from 0.2X to 0.30

Doesn't sound so great, we'll see.

People seem to push for a soname bump in libopensync now, but currently
0.30 uses SCons without any notion of library versioning at all (thus
providing just a libopensync.so).  It seems upstream is willing to
address this once the last major showstoppers for 0.30 have been
resolved, I try to keep them reminded.

look it seems your mod4 is both Super and Hyper [1].

Could you try with H-s- instead of s- ? Hopefully that should work both
with the old and with the new version of ratpoison.

[1] actually xmodmap only takes a look at the old compatibility layer of
the X keyboard, and I've not yet researched how or if modifiers differ
between classic X and xkb extension nowaydays used and whether the functions
ratpoison use are the new or the old layer. But the output of xmodmap
is the best starting point no matter what.

The reason it works the second time is irritating, but know - the lsb
init scripts remove the pidfile the first time around, and then the
second stop run uses a different code path that doesn't get silly.

Well, Octave 2.9.01 has api-v23.  You should also add
"/usr/lib/octave/site/oct/api-v22/"to the path, but this is almost
guaranteed to fail.  

The soutlion would be to rebuild octave2.9-forge_2006.07.09+dfsg1 against
octave2.9-headers_2.9.10.  It tried it and wasn't successful, however.
The upstream sources would need severe patching and I am not willing (and do
not have time) to do it.

According to the specification of ID3 v2.3, the info can be encoded in
ISO-8859-1 or 16-bit Unicode beginning with BOM.  But beagle appears to
decode the ID3 info of v2.3 incorrectly.  When the ID3 info contains
characters beyond ASCII and is encoded in Unicode, beagle fails to
detect it and gets an unrecognizable string.  But for mp3 files with
v2.4 ID3, beagle does be able to decode the ID3 info correctly.  In
addition, Gnome desktop system can detect the ID3 info of mp3 files
successfully no matter they are v2.3 or v2.4.  So, I wonder if there is
something wrong when beagle tried to index mp3 files with v2.3 ID3.

I think that problem is located in do { } while (cont) loop at file

well than tell $company to fix their proprietary crap.
kvm has inbetween paravirt and you'll be able to migrate guests
like in xen. it is a strong contender for the virtualisation tech.

xen accounts for a _very_ huge part of the current bts bug flow.

The point of doing it the other way is that there is currently a bug in
one of the lsb init routines that deletes the pid file in the wrong
circumstances.  If there is no pid file, the pid discovery routines
effectively end up calling pidof, which does not return the pid prefixed
with a '-'.  Until the lsb init routine bug is fixed, I think the
original patch makes more sense.  But, generally speaking, yes, your way
is cleaner.

Bug#419997: rox-filer: don't honors the ~/.choice dir for store config

The rox-filer package shiped with Etch don't store it's config files in 
~/.choice like the Sarge ones. 
Now it stores in ~/.config/rox.sourceforge.net. But in the doc, in 
/usr/share/doc/rox-filer/README.Debian it says that the config files are in " 
~/.rox_choices, 
~/.rox/choices or ~/.choice/ROXFiler". 

With this, now when I start rox-filer I don't see my "pinboard" and I must to 
move all the files from 
one location to another for see it.

I don't install the Etch release, but dist-upgrade from a Sarge environment.

The odd thing is that logrotate's saying "unknown group" rather than
"unknown user". Wild guess: have you used tabs instead of spaces to
separate the fields in that line?

Innerhalb von einer Stunde beging ein Asiater 6 brutale Morde und verschwand in 
der unbestimmten Richtung. Der Moerder schlich sich in ein Wohnhaus ein und 
schlachtete all seine Bewohner inklusive 2 kleiner zehnjaehrigen Maedchen, die 
heimgegangen sind. Ermordet waren auch alle Haustiere. Die Polizei ist 
schockiert und macht nun alles Moegliche, um diesen Taeter so schnell wie 
moeglich finden zu koennen. Dank einiger Passanten gibt es nun eine kurze 
Beschreibung des Verbrechers. Es wurde eine Belohnung angekuendigt, wenn jemand
