Bug#422190: workrave: segfaults when loaded the first time

2007-05-04 Thread gio.rido
Package: workrave
Version: 1.8.4-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

I have workgrave as an applet in my GNOME deskbar.
When my session is loaded workgrave does not manage to start
and exits.
Then the window of Bug-Buddy appears.
If I choose not to file a bug but to "reload the application" or
"launch it again" (sorry if I am not precise, but I have the Italian
messages, so I'm back-translating to English :), in the window of
bug-buddy, workgrave starts and runs like a charm.

These are the messages I got from bug-buddy:
-
Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/workrave'

(no debugging symbols found)
Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1".n
-

I have not checked wether the same bug has already been filed.
In case, please, feel free to merge to the appropriate bug and
sorry for the noise.

Giovanni

from the log I suspect that the version checking in pppd or nm-pppd-plugin.so

Bug#323260: elinks: pagedown and F10 give 'Keyboard prefix: xxxx' and don't work

2007-05-04 Thread Kalle Olavi Niemitalo
package elinks
fixed 323260 0.10.6-1

This bug was fixed on 2005-04-06. The fix is in ELinks 0.10.6
and 0.11rc0. The bug depends on undefined behaviour and here
occurs only when LC_CTYPE=C. try_prefix_key was calling
isdigit(get_kbd_key(ev)) even though get_kbd_key can return
values that do not fit in unsigned char.

Bug#422192: Numerical port specification in /etc/portreserve/* fails

2007-05-04 Thread Felix Engel
Package: portreserve
Version: 0.0.0-3
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

It is possible to define services by creating files in /etc/portreserve/
which contain a name listed in /etc/services.
However it is not possible to create a service using the port number.
This is due to a call to getservbyport (port, NULL) failing since port
is in host byte order, but geservbyport expects network byte order. To
fix it, convert the "port" to network byte order.
getservbyport (htons(port), NULL);

Update: The symlink installation for xulrunner is indeed unnecessary.
So, I remove it. And this new patch also fixes 2 lintian warnings:
updated FSF address and Standards-Version (compliance checked

As noted on the Hugs download page, this module was removed from the
underlying base Haskell library package and replaced with non-portable
regex-* packages. The only way forward is for the regex-* packages to
be made portable and packaged separately.

I think you've set the severity of this bug too high: "renders package
unusable" is just not true. I would say it "has a major effect on the
usability of a package, without rendering it completely unusable to
everyone", i.e. important.

What is different? Very good question, I’d like to know myself. When I
log in on the console or start new log-in shells everything works fine.
The problem only occurs when logging in from gdm. Perhaps some strange
set of command line options or environment variables? gdm.conf is
empty, /bin/sh is a link to bash, what else can go wrong?

Bug#422186: Acknowledgement (tzdata: [debconf_rewrite] Debconf templates review)

2007-05-04 Thread Christian Perrier
Hmmm, sorry for the so huge BR. I should have cleaned out the patch
before launching the automated process that sends the bug report.

That is mostly due to many translations being merged from D-I
translations. I will anyway reconsider sending the translations as
part of the bug report at that point...because they are likely to be
updated in the second part of the rewrite process.

Sorry, again.

Bug#421918: Known bugs fixed upstream in last stable release

Fixes can be individual applied, but we cannot package new upstream versions.

Cannot? Do not want seems to be more exact.

Get the patch for 1.5.6 -> 1.5.61 and apply it and rebuild umbrello and
not just wait until 3.5.7 is released (BTW when?).

Basically - we will start packaging 3.5.7 in approximately a week - and one
week later it will probably hit unstable. I don't consider it worth doing it
just for that short period of time. Feel free to patch it yourself.

What about testing and stable? did you verify if the bug are present or
not?

Can do it myslef but

You are most welcome to help maintaining kdesdk, but please work a bit on your

Bug#401395: mailbox.Maildir re-reads directory too often (on each lookup, etc)

2007-05-04 Thread Josh Triplett
Matthias Klose wrote:

Thank you for letting me know. Response below; please forward to upstream.

Regardless of the resolution on any particular filesystem, stat and stat64
return file timestamps as time_t, which has one-second resolution.

True. mailbox.Maildir's behavior of always representing the current contents
of the maildir without requiring the caller to explicitly refresh will not
work with an implementation that checks for an mtime increase.

The two solutions below (inotify and your suggested mtime-1 approach) would
allow the automatic updates to work efficiently.

> Is there some other property of directories that could be used for
> a more reliable check?

On Linux, you could use inotify to get a notice when anything changes in the
directory. You then wouldn't even incur the overhead of a repeated directory
stat, and wouldn't need to re-read the entire directory to find the new mail.

Fair enough.

> I'll wait a bit for any alternative suggestion, and then close this bug as
> "won't fix".

Please don't. The performance hit of repeatedly re-reading the directory
makes mailbox.Maildir unusably slow on even moderately large maildirs (a few
thousand messages). For the application we originally wanted mailbox.Maildir
for, we had to rewrite the code to manually operate on the maildir instead,
and we achieved an improvement of several orders of magnitude.

akuchling:

Good idea. That would work fine as well, and I believe it would have
addressed our performance problem. This would work as a good solution on
platforms that lack inotify, or if you don't want to use inotify.

Compared to inotify, this would have somewhat more overhead (but still far
less than the current approach), and would still perform poorly if you insert
messages as you go (sometimes avoidable). Compared to the current approach,
this has a massive improvement, so please consider implementing it.

> Is this sort of mtime-based checking reliable on remote filesystems such as
> NFS?

This particular sort of checking, yes, I think so. The times do not
necessarily match the system clock (because they come from a remote system
that does not necessarily have a synchronized clock), but the times should
remain consistent with *each other*.

Thank you for looking at this problem,

Ok, so please would try if you have the same problem with version
0.103.0-1? You can install it by putting this entry

deb http://snapshot.debian.net/archive pool jack-audio-connection-kit

in your sources.list and then running

apt-get install jackd=0.103.0-1 libjack0=0.103.0-1

Or if you prefer, just grab the files directly:

http://snapshot.debian.net/archive/2007/05/03/debian/pool/main/j/jack-audio-connection-kit/

It might be that the latest 0.103.0-2 doesn't work with your CPU, as
it has dynsimd enabled

http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/j/jack-audio-connection-kit/jack-audio-connection-kit_0.103.0-2/changelog

which the upstream recommends, but that maybe it's not fit for every CPU.

Ciao,

Bug#404856: When will 0.30 be released?

2007-05-04 Thread Michael Meskes
Any idea when upstream will release 0.30? The roadmap on their site
mentions no date. If it takes longer I'd strongly recommend uploading
0.22 as it fixes some nasty bugs that are still in 0.19. For me 0.19 is
practically unusable because it doubles entries on each slow sync. The
0.22 version on http://www.in.fh-merseburg.de/~jahn/opensync-0.21/ works
nicely though. I'd prefer to get things from the Debian archive though.

The ftpmaster team don't remove packages from testing directly.

If the package is removed from unstable then it will be removed from testing

Your package fails to build with GCC 4.3. Version 4.3 has not been
released yet but I'm building with a snapshot in order to find errors
and give people an advance warning. In GCC 4.3, the C++ header
dependencies have been cleaned up. The advantage of this is that
programs will compile faster. The downside is that you actually
need to directly #include everything you use (but you really should
do this anyway, otherwise your program won't work with any compiler
other than GCC). Some background of this can be found at
http://gcc.gnu.org/PR28080

There is no breezy on that server so your command line does not work

That file is irelevant. The new file in
.temp/fsl/dists/etch/non-free/source/Sources determines what gets
mirrored. Only after a successfull mirror run does this get
linked/copied into place so that the mirror remains consistent while
mirroring.

And that file only contains
Directory: dists/etch/main/source/science
not
Directory: dists/testing/main/source/science

If testing is a link then find will not follow it and thus not delete
anything below it.

Running a corrected commandline works just fine here. Please run
debmirror with -v -p and send a logfile.

The rsync method does not correctly add the downloaded bytes to the
counter so the result is totaly off.

I suggest using the http method by the way as it is less demanding for
the server and client and actualy faster in my experience.

It's true that cairo-java now builds in unstable, but the build-dependency

Thankyou. Work distracted me for a couple of weeks.

I've upgraded my packages to 1.15.0.2, but there's some files missing
from the upstream tarball (I think... waiting on the mailing list to
confirm) so it doesn't actually run.

The _did_ however fix a DFSG-nonfreeness, so I can use pristine upstream
source tarball for the viewer.

(Not the artwork, it's CC-licensed, no response yet from [EMAIL PROTECTED])

Once I get this last set of code changes done (finalising the high-res
timer portability changes) and the copyright audit done, I'll see about
putting the distributable-but-not-DFSG-Free packages somewhere.

Bug#422204: qps_1.9.18.6-2 (alpha/unstable): FTBFS: creates directories in clean target

2007-05-04 Thread Steve Langasek
Package: qps
Version: 1.9.18.6-2
Severity: serious

Your package is failing to build on those autobuilders which use -rsudo
instead of -rfakeroot:

[...]

Assembler messages: FATAL: can't create .obj/qps.o: Permission denied

A full build log can be found at
.

This error is happening on alpha, mips, and mipsel, the three architectures
which use -rsudo on the autobuilders, and points to the .obj directory being
created in the clean target (which runs as root) and then being left behind
in the build tree. Your clean target must not create any directories not
included in the source package, since per policy this target may run as root
and anything left behind will break the non-root build target.

Please read my message carefully.
I spare to copy /usr/share/doc/lpr/README.Debian here. It does not at
all address this problem.

modprobe lp solved the problem for me, thanks !
I don't want cupsys. I want lpr.

Still, it is a bug, when the update from Sarge to Etch fails at the
printing function; actually deleting the device and making it necessary
to add the module (which had been there before).
It might be your daily bread as maintainer, but it is not the usual item
to be done by the user.

AFAIK, there was none such message at the upgrade.

No, I am afraid, a work-around solution is not the resolution of a bug.
In 2007, when a user plugs a printer, we don't want to require him / her
to 'modprobe'.

Hi Mihkel,

I installed 0.103.0-1 and jack will start.

Could you post the output of:

cat /proc/cpuinfo

please?

I believe these optimisations require SSE or 3DNow! to be available on
your CPU. If your CPU is older than Pentium III, it may not have them.

Cheers!

Bug#422212: "value too large for defined data type"

2007-05-04 Thread Bas Zoetekouw
Package: collectd
Version: 3.10.4-1
Severity: normal

collectd floods my logs with this message:

| May 4 11:35:21 emilia collectd[30233]: statv?fs failed: Value too large for
defined data type

This seems to be the result of an EOVERFLOW in a statvfs() call.
Looking at /usr/include/statvfs.h, this seems to be caused by
__USE_FILE_OFFSET64 not being defined during compilation, and thus
fsblkcnt_t and fsfilcnt_t being 32 bit (on i386). So the solution is
probably to define _FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 on 32 bit platforms, which
should be easy by just adding a AC_SYS_LARGEFILE autoonf macro.

Hi Steffen,

The attached patch is sufficient to get qtodo building on 64-bit
architectures. Casting pointers to integers is still ugly (especially, as
seems to be the case here, for purposes of logging), but at least casting to
a long instead of an int will let this bit of code be equally ugly on all
architectures. ;)

Bug#334040: XMMS menu display

2007-05-04 Thread Vidyadhar Gadgil
Following a discussion on [EMAIL PROTECTED], see
http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2007/05/msg00454.html and the
related thread, the problem can be solved by running 'dpkg-reconfigure
locales', and selecting a non-UTF 8 locale. So it appears that the
problem is related to what is mentioned in bug #334040 (related to UTF-8
locales), rather than a gtk1.2 problem as mentioned in bug #287520.

Of course, the problem still needs to be solved in the package itself
(which one, though?)...the bug remains!

Bug#422213: checkinstall_1.6.1-2 (alpha/unstable): FTBFS: wrong libc6-dev build-dep

2007-05-04 Thread Steve Langasek
Package: checkinstall
Version: 1.6.1-2
Severity: serious

Hi Felipe,

The latest version of checkinstall is failing to build on alpha and ia64
because you are build-depending on libc6-dev, which is not the right package
on these archs (or on non-Linux archs). If there is a reason you need this
versioned build-dep on libc6-dev (which is not explained in the changelog),
please fix the build-dep to be architecture-conditional, build-depending on
libc6.1-dev on alpha and ia64 instead of on libc6-dev.

Thanks,

Bug#422215: easytag: Manual cddb-lookup fails

2007-05-04 Thread Stefan Denker
Package: easytag
Version: 1.99.12-1
Severity: normal

When trying to read the freedb-entries, i discovered that manual Search
is broken on my system. Automatic search works.

CD Data Base settings in the easytag configuration:
Server Settings:
   Name: freedb.freedb.org
   Port: 80
   CGI-Path: /~cddb/cddb.cgi

If I try a manual search, for e.g. "Roxette" I get a message
"The server returned a wrong answer! (HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found)"

If I try the same search using my Squid-Proxy I get a message:
"The server returned a wrong answer! (http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd";>)"
and the squid process logs:
"1178272985.180 2 192.168.24.77 TCP_DENIED/400 1592 GET
error:invalid-request - NONE/- text/html"

So it seems to me there is some bug in easytag search-Algorithm.

Hints?

Stefan

Your processor does not have SSE, but it does have 3DNow! extensions.
Later Athlons have both, so I guess it's not a case of needing one or
the other for these optimisations to work.

Bug#422217: linux-image-2.6.20-1-686: SCSI disks initialised too late for mdadm

2007-05-04 Thread Simon A. Boggis
Package: linux-image-2.6.20-1-686
Version: 2.6.20-3
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Hi,

I've filed this bug under the this package since, although one could
argue that initramfs-tools has the problem, the difference appears to be
kernel version.

My machine is configured with an software raid 0 (mdadm) root
filesystem, composed of two SCSI drives.

If I run the stock debian etch linux-image-2.6.18-4-686
(2.6.18.dfsg.1-12etch1) kernel, everything works as expected. If I
attempt to boot the linux-image-2.6.20-1-686 (2.6.20-3) kernel from
unstable, my system hangs on boot.

Examining captures of the boot process shows that on 2.6.18-4-686 we
see (excuse slight hiccups in formatting - imperfect capture from
serial over LAN console):

Bug#422218: NetMRG don't display graphs when a : is included

2007-05-04 Thread Rainer Schmidt
package: netmrg
version : 0.18.2-14
severity: important

If a colon is included within the fields of an interface or an description of
the graph, it won't be displayed within that release.

To circumvent the situation I renamed some device names so they are working
again.

However, when monitoring Cisco-Routers with interfaces like bri0:1 or so on,
there's no change to rename them as they are hard coded device names the
gathered read via SNMP. That graph's aren't working any longer. Please fix the
problem as it's serious at least for me.

The problem did not exist with sarge (stable). I am now working with GNU/Debian
etch-1 - stable release with no testing or unstable packages.

Thank you very much for help.

With regards

Rainer Schmidt

Bug#422220: FTBFS with GCC 4.3: missing #includes

2007-05-04 Thread Martin Michlmayr
Package: scribus-ng
Version: 1.3.4.dfsg~cvs20070427-1
Usertags: ftbfs-gcc-4.3
Tags: patch

Your package fails to build with GCC 4.3. Version 4.3 has not been
released yet but I'm building with a snapshot in order to find errors
and give people an advance warning. In GCC 4.3, the C++ header
dependencies have been cleaned up. The advantage of this is that
programs will compile faster. The downside is that you actually
need to directly #include everything you use (but you really should
do this anyway, otherwise your program won't work with any compiler
other than GCC). Some background of this can be found at
http://gcc.gnu.org/PR28080

You can reproduce this problem with gcc-snapshot (20070326-1 or higher)
from unstable. (Currently not available for i386, but for amd64, powerpc
and ia64. I hope to have i386 binaries in the archive in the near
future.)

I don't know anything about that binary NMU, could you please confirm me
that it used to work with 1.0.0-1?

Bug#421606: More changes in sitecopy

2007-05-04 Thread Christian Marillat
Hi again,

I see other issues with patches.

In 00_previous_patches_transitions.dpatch only the patch against
doc/sitecopy.fr.1 should be kept and 04_manpages_addition_fixes.dpatch
and 02_french-po-fix.dpatch need to be redone.

I'll send new patches for that.

Also patches are applied after the first call to make. This is
wrong. Patches should be applied before the call to configure.

Bug#422222: TT v2.19 is available

New upstream - in fact I'm surprised that 2.14 is the latest available in
sarge!

Bug#204749: bug relevant?

2007-05-04 Thread Carl Johnstone

Is this bug relevant to Template-Toolkit?

Autodia is now in Debian stable, even if Autodia needs Inline::Java for some
advanced functionality - I don't get the reference to TT.

I'd suggest that the bug either needs closing, or that the maintainer of
Autodia should also be maintaining Inline::Java.

The dbs has been patched, therefore, it is now possible to build the
package.

Please use the new (attached) patch, as this also updates build-depend

Bug#422224: building with libmysqlclient12-dev doesn't work

2007-05-04 Thread Henk van de kamer

Package: php5
Version: 5.2.0-8+etch3

I'm building my own version (don't need LDAP for example) and got the
following error:

checking whether to enable embedded MySQLi support... no
checking for mysql_set_server_option in -lmysqlclient... no
configure: error: wrong mysql library version or lib not found. Check
config.log for more information.

make: *** [configure-apache2-stamp] Error 1

The reason is that the build-dependancies read:

libmysqlclient15-dev | libmysqlclient12-dev

and when you use the latter it goes wrong. Installing the first resolves
the build error. This one is needed for the mysqli extension which is
now default packaged in php5-mysql. That one needs libmysqlclient15 so
depending on libmysqlclient12-dev seems odd?

Bug#422225: install_packages uses libapt-pkg-perl even if it doesnt need to

2007-05-04 Thread Holger Levsen
package: fai-client
version: 3.1.8
severity: wishlist

Hi,

fai-client depends on libapt-pkg-perl and the only code that uses it is
install_packages. If used for fai softupdates on a rpm based system, this
depends is not needed, as yum can be used instead of apt.

Basically, instead of

 "use AptPkg::Foo";

better use something like:

 eval"require AptPkg::Foo";
 eval"import AptPkg::Foo";

(For the depends itself, rpm/alien doesnt look at debian/control, but checks
the actual depends of the software installed. With "use", it depends on it,
with "require+import", it doesn't.)

Holger

2007-05-04 Thread Rémi Demarthe

Then type 'run'
Get gtkpod to crash and then write 'bt full' into the gdb

I think the original severity was quite justified. At least three people have
now independently had this bug, and the bug makes the package unusable. I do
not think that this is a question of misconfiguration, since the package from
upstream does in fact work.

I would really appreciate it if you could see to getting this fixed.

I did not have this file in my home directory. But creating it with the
content

gtk-theme-name = "Clearlooks"
gtk-icon-theme-name = "gnome"

as described in the link of your message from 21:37 +0200 fixed the
problem.

Aren't there any symbols in the default theme, which could be used as
substitutes. So that it does not show the white-paper-with-a-cross? And
how was this handled before evolution 2.10?

False alarm. It has nothing to do with that upload. I've researched the
problem some more and I've traced the problem to my MAIL var not getting set
correctly (due to broken updates elsewhere).

So essentially, at least in this situation, this very unhelpful message
translates into "Maildir not found". It would be nice if dovecot was a
little more helpful, but besides that, you can close this bug as far as I'm
concerned.
