Bug#431882: qpsmtpd: Minor errors in Debconf template

2007-07-23 Thread Devin Carraway
Thanks for pointing those out. I've fixed most of them. Ordering of commas
with respect to quotations is debated in English composition; the usage in the
current template (that is, commas inside the quotation) represents MLA style,
the nearest thing to a standard for such things, at least here in the US.

I'll upload the fix in a few minutes.

Bug#434218: www.debian.org: No changelog seems to be downloadable

What package do you try to receive the changelog for? If it is a
package from unstable that just recently got uploaded this is a known
"feature" - it needs a day or two for the changelog to get extracted to
the place. Please notice that tracking unstable is a tricky business
anyway, so depending on having the changelogs on the page just in time
they hit the pool won't save you from some of the breakages.

 So long,

Bug#434331: Fails to start: mixer system not initialized

2007-07-23 Thread Damyan Ivanov
Package: funnyboat

Hi, this might as well be grave, but seeing no one reported it already,
I assume that the game works for other people.

When I try to start it, I get:

"aoss funnyboat" makes no difference.

Please tell me if there is something else I should try.

strace shows that funnyboat opens /etc/esound/esd.conf. Does it depend
on a running ESD?

Bug#427406: metacity: No more mouse/keyboard-input possible, after closing crashed application

2007-07-23 Thread manphiz

>I somehow resist the possibility of making my system unstable again,
>since everything else works fine with Testing and upgrading to 2.18.3
>didn't help. Additionally, I noticed no hint showing that this
>problem was solved with never versions.

Some search work at http://bugzilla.gnome.org shows no similar report,
and as it is unreproducible anywhere, there's no reason for the upstream
or Debian maintainer to address such bug, which doesn't prevent the
possibility for the bug's silent disappearance either. Moreover, there's
no difficulty to downgrade back to 2.14.5 if something still goes wrong.
Finally, as the only one encountering this bug, only you can tell
whether 2.18.5 is ok. So why not give it a shot? :)

P.S.: No offense, but I really doubt such a problem is necessary to be
set as grave severity.

Bug#434332: Multiple instances of Squid problematic winh init.d scripts

2007-07-23 Thread Mgr. Peter Tuharsky

Package: squid
Version: 2.6.5-6

Hi,

I'm trying to make 2 instances of Squid running at the same machine. I
edited the config file in order to make it listen on different ports,
and also changed the /etc/init.d script; I copied the original file to
/etc/init.d/squid1 and squid2 and edited the NAME= line to reflect
squid1 resp. squid2. Also edited the link to config file in both scripts.

Now, when I try to run them, they compain that "Squid is already
running". Why that? The PID files should differ, because they depend on
the $NAME and I changed that!

Sincerely
Peter

Bug#434225: (pas de sujet)

2007-07-23 Thread Adam Cécile (Le_Vert)

Hi,

I don't know at all why lates ntfs-3g release failed to build on amd64.
It worked fine on all other build daemons and is not linked with
libselinux, see:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo ldd /usr/bin/ntfs-3g
   linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xe000)
   libntfs-3g.so.5 => /usr/lib/libntfs-3g.so.5 (0xb7f66000)
   libfuse.so.2 => /usr/lib/libfuse.so.2 (0xb7f53000)
   librt.so.1 => /lib/i686/cmov/librt.so.1 (0xb7f49000)
   libpthread.so.0 => /lib/i686/cmov/libpthread.so.0 (0xb7f32000)
   libc.so.6 => /lib/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 (0xb7deb000)
   /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7fa4000)

I would say it looks like being a buildd issue...

What's your mind ?

Bug#434333: tiger: Stderr output for invalid symlinks

2007-07-23 Thread Johann Glaser
Package: tiger
Version: 3.2.1-35
Severity: normal

At some test Tiger uses "ls" for every file on the filesystem. If it
encounters symlinks which point to nowhere, an error message is printed by
/bin/ls to stderr:

/bin/ls: /dev/.udev/db/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcsa8: No such file or directory
/bin/ls: /dev/.udev/db/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcs8: No such file or directory
/bin/ls: /dev/.udev/db/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcsa5: No such file or directory
/bin/ls: /dev/.udev/db/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@vcs5: No such file or directory

Udev is a particular package which has lots of such symlinks. The same holds
for directories exported with NFS (where its symlinks are only valid at the
machine where the directory is mounted).

So, either make Tiger complain about invalid symlinks (so that they can be
ignored in tiger.ignore. Or just redirect any error messages of /bin/ls to
/dev/null.

Could you send the full output of "strace -f vmware-server-console

Bug#434334: dirvish-expire fails to identify vaults if a non-vault directory contains a "summary" file inside the bank

2007-07-23 Thread Raphael Hertzog
Package: dirvish
Version: 1.2.1-1
Severity: normal

To backup remote hosts, I don't use dirvish to rsync the remote files
directly. Instead I let the remote host push the files by himself on the
backup server.

Then I use dirvish to rotate the backups locally. This works quite well.
My bank is /backup/ and I have a the directory /backup/staging/ where I
upload the backup of remote.

/backup/staging/* are then rotated in various vaults /backup//
(none of the vault are named staging obviously).

Now it happens that one of the backups contains a summary file and thus
the recursive find done by dirvish-expire finds a summary file below
/backup/staging/ (which is not supposed to be a vault) and of course
fails with a strange message like this one:
cannot open config file: ouaza.com/folders/INBOX/summary

IMO, dirvish-expire should be more intelligent and find the list of
vaults by a simple lookup of /*/dirvish/. And it should only look
for summary files in real vaults.

Alyternatively, it shouldn't fail on invalid summary files but only generate a
warning and skip it.

Bug#434336: network-manager: NM drops some information

Package: network-manager
Version: 0.6.4-8+b1
Severity: important

I'm using network-manager and network-manager-vpnc to connect to my VPN
network.

I've been using vpnc and it has been working perfectly for months.

network-manager-vpnc connected properly with a difference of only one
thing. It was dropping a list of new name servers which were sent by the
DHCP server when the VPN connection was being established.

This caused my box to not be able to talk to the VPN network (because the
name servers were not updated).

Here are the relevant logs:

In the logs, the lines are very clear. I tried looking into NM but
couldn't find anything that talks about Dynamic Modification.

2007-07-23 Thread William Lynch
Package: rt73-source

I've been messing with this for about a week. I have a usb based

any connections working with this... However, I was hunting around the
internet and I came across this.

http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/wiki/index.php?title=Downloads

I assume you've heard of the site before, but they've been updating the
driver in their cvs, and they have a cvs-daily tarball. I downloaded
that, maked it, and instaled the ko, and I was immedietly able to get a
ip. With no other config changes.

I tend to think you might want to switch to using that source instead of
ralink's source.

Thanks for the work with this package though.

Thanks. Based on the output, could you also send the log files that
vmware generates (I believe they're written somewhere in /tmp), and try
to collect and send a core file by invoking "ulimit -c unlimited" before
vmware-server-console?

I suspect the problem is HAL or DBUS related.

Mail-Followup-To isn't a standard of any kind. It isn't implemented in
half of user agents.

Saying "please CC me on your replies" seems like a good start, but Don
knowingly ignored it.

The BTS adds a "Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED]"
to the mail sent to the maintainer. Respecting it is as easy as clicking
"reply" in any user agent. This means Don, when replying to BTS emails,
explicitly removes the submitter's address from the recipient list.

No, it's about common sense, which the BTS doesn't always follow.

This sounds like an improvement, but I fail to see what it brings over
the roundup behaviour (forging From: headers), which is the only one to
deal with both broken MUAs and stupid users.

Bug#434345: gnome-volume-manager: XFS on LUKS volume (USB removable drive) not mounted

2007-07-23 Thread vitko
Package: gnome-volume-manager
Version: 2.17.0-2

System: Debian Sid, i686

Description:

I've got XFS filesystem in LUKS volume on USB connected 80 GB drive. When I
plug the drive in, Nautilus correctly shows it, but problem comes when I try to
mount this device - Nautilus asks for password, but doesn't actually mount the
volume.

But

 * /dev/mapper/lucks_crypt_ is created
 * device /dev/dm-2 is created
 * I can mount /dev/dm-2 manually from commandline and get access to my XFS

It seems all the LUKS magic works fine, just the final step - mounting
/dev/dm-2 by Nautilus - is missing for some reason.

Please note that mounting another (VFAT based) LUKS removable drive works
flawlesly.

2007-07-23 Thread Peter Eisentraut
reassign 418358 gij-4.1
stop

gij-4.1 provides java2-runtime, and that must include AWT functionality. If
gij-4.1 does not in fact provide the required functionality, it should not
list java2-runtime in its Provides.

hsqldb is not dependent on any particular Java runtime. Therefore, it can't
be expected to work around the various bugs and broken definitions of Java
runtime that abound. That's the very point why such platform definitions are
made.

Perhaps you need to make a separate package that depends on gij-4.1 and the X
dependencies which would then be allowed to provide java2-runtime.

I'd say it's a libtool issue. You can install libtool, run e.g.

Well, thought there are stll users (like me) on Debian who thrive on
ASCII and ISO-8859-1. Hence the case.

Should you have very serious objections to it, I will consider
withdrawing the package (it's in the new queue already).

Bug#434346: wesnoth: Any chance of seeing newer (1.3.6) development releases in experimental?

Debian experimental contains wesnoth 1.3.2, which is a development release,

For me it works to put a line with

xterm*metaSendsEscape: true

into my ~/.Xresources. This option can also be toggled at run time,
it is in the menu that pops up when you click Ctrl-Mouse1. It is also
useful for command-line editing in bash (M-d etc. work then).

Bug#434345: Update

2007-07-23 Thread vitko
It seems like g-v-m | pmount | nautilus doesn't like whole device (e.g.
/dev/sdd) used for LUKS volume.

When I repartition and create LUKS volume over /dev/sdd1, my problem is gone:
nautilus asks for password and voilá, problem is gone.

Now is it bug or feature? Is there any philosophical or practical issue with
using whole disk (not partitions) for LUKS volume?

The previous version of gedit-common contained 2 versions of this icon,
the 32x32 xpm for the menu, and a 48x48 png, both in
/usr/share/pixmaps/. This was useful for large Gnome panels with
shortcuts added from the menu. The problem with accessories-text-editor
is that it's not the same icon so the same software have a different
icon in the menu and in the gnome panel.
I don't understand why the 48x48 png was suppressed from this package...

im unable to reproduce this failure, too (at least on amd64). Probably caused

If  successful, the pthread_rwlock_unlock() function shall return zero;
otherwise, an error number shall be returned to indicate the error.

maybe this is a bit mistakable?

2007-07-23 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Package: aptitude

Severity: minor

Here's the problem:
1. From the first window, select some packages for upgrade.
2. Type 'g' to go to the "Preview" page.
3. Type '?' to see the on-line help.
4. Type 'q'. This has the effect to quit the "Preview" page, but this is

'q' should probably be ignored when the on-line help page is displayed

You was right, the controlleur is detected but can't found logical
disks. In fact, I have exactly the same thing than Mark:

megaraid: probe new device 0x101e:0x1960:0x1028:0x0511: bus 1:slot 2:func 0
megaraid: fw version:[6.62] bios version:[1.03]

same device, same firmware, same bios. (Mark should have a Dell
PowerEdge 1600SC or similar)

On the other hand, Dann seems to have a different hardware:

megaraid: probe new device 0x101e:0x1960:0x103c:0x60e8: bus 7:slot
0:func 0
megaraid: fw version:[] bios version:[G ]

See? no firmware nor bios version and more over, the last two number of
the device is not the same. I don't know if this is relevant but the
fact is the device "0x101e:0x1960:0x1028:0x0511", although detected,
can't be used "as is" since the logical disks is not seen.

By the way, Dann pointed out a way to fix the problem (maybe) : updating
the firmware/bios. Unfortunately, there is no update about this
controlleur on the dell web site...

I can compile myself a vanilla 2.6.22.1 kernel but it will not fix the
messy install I've got on that server. The only way I can use is to
reinstall a sarge with a dist-upgrade later (but I already done that
with a lot of problem so...) with a very minimalist install...

According to Mark, it only requires a minor change on the driver code
and I will wait for a 4.0r1 to do the job...

In the meantime, any suggestion are welcome ;)

Bug#434350: kpilot: Kpilot does not synchronize knotes with palm memos

2007-07-23 Thread Griera
Package: kpilot
Version: KPilot 4.9.0 (depth 9)
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I did a fresh install of Debian etch, and KPilot does not work fine. I have
identifying two main problems with knotes-conduit:

1. The old notes in Knotes are not synchronized with the palm memo: The
knotes of the computer are not copied into the Palm.

2. If I modify a note in the Knotes, the HotSync of the palm crah with the
error:

HotSync: Fatal error: DataMgr.c, Line:8872,DmWrite:DmWriteChecj Failed.

Everything worked fine with Debian sarge.

Anyway, thanks for all the work you put into Debian, and I hope this bug
report is helpful.

Kind regards.

Bug#434352: aptitude: package group sorting in the Preview page

2007-07-23 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.4.5.4-1
Severity: wishlist

Concerning the package groups in the Preview page:

--\ Packages being automatically held in their current state
--\ Packages being deleted due to unsatisfied dependencies
--\ Packages being held back
--\ Packages to be installed
--\ Packages to be upgraded

the order of these groups seems to be undeterministic (in the previous
invocation of aptitude, "Packages being held back" and "Packages to be
installed" were swapped). The order should be deterministic and

--\ Packages being automatically held in their current state
--\ Packages being held back

should be displayed together, and

--\ Packages being deleted due to unsatisfied dependencies
--\ Packages to be installed
--\ Packages to be upgraded

(i.e. all the package groups for which there are changes) should also
be displayed together. Having

--\ Packages being held back

and

--\ Packages to be installed

(which I currently get) is bad.

Bug#134679: DONATION FROM SISTER FLORENCE.

2007-07-23 Thread florence gram

Dearest In The Lord:

I am Mrs Florence Gram from Kuwait. I married
to late Dr Daniel Gram who worked with Kuwait
embassy in Ivory Coast for nine years before he died
in the year 2004.We were married for eleven years with
out a child. He died after a brief illness that lasted
for only four days.

Before his death we were both born again Christian.
Since his death I decided not to remarry or get a
child outside my matrimonial home which the Bible is
against. When my late husban was alive he deposited a
box containing the sum of three Million five houndred thausand Dollars in one
of the security company here in Abidjan.

Recently, my Doctor told me that I would not last for
the next Eight months due to cancer problem. Having
known my condition I decided to donate this fund to a
church that will utilize this money the way I am going
to instruct herein.

I want a church or Individual that will use this fund
for orphanages, widows, propagating the word of God
and to endeavor the house of God is maintained.

The Bible made us to understand that "Blessed is the
hand that giveth". I took this decision because I
don't have any child that will inherit this money and
my husband relatives are not Christians and I don't
want my husband's efforts to be used by unbelievers.

I don't want a situation where this money will be used
in an ungodly way. This is why I am taking this
decision. I am not afraid of death hence I know where
I am going. I know that I am going to be in the bosom
of the Lord. Exodus 14 VS 14 says that "the lord will
fight my case and I shall hold my peace.

I don't need any telephone communication in this
regard because of my health hence the presence of my
husband's relatives around me always. I don't want
them to know about this development.

With God all things are possible. As soon as I receive
your reply I shall give you the contact of the
security company. I will also issue you an
authorisation letter that will prove you the present
beneficiary of this fund.

I want you and the church to always pray for me
because the lord is my shephard. My happiness is that
I lived a life of a worthy Christian. Whoever that
Wants to serve the Lord must serve him in spirit and
Truth.

Please always continue your prayers upon me.Contact
me on this email address any delay in your reply will
give me room in sourcing another church for this same
purpose. Please assure me that you will act
accordingly as I Stated herein. Hoping to receive your
reply.

Remain blessed in the Lord.

Yours in Christ,

Mrs Florence Gram.

FWIW, grepping on ``Setting up'' in the build log, and then using
rmadison, and a bit of perl, I got the attached diff about the package
versions available at the the time of the build, compared to the current
available packages.

Possibly, but it could also be another application that your fluxbox
config starts automatically.

Assuming that starting fluxbox by hand from the working 'startx
/usr/bin/xterm' exits the session as a plain 'startx' does, you might be
able to find out which component or application is responsible for this.
Looking at everybody's stdout and stderr should help. Running strace -f
-ff fluxbox might help too.

Bug#434358: cl-sql - arch-any without need

An arch-any dependency is no reason to make a package also arch-any.
Packages are only moved into testing if they are up-to-date.

Bug#434357: RFA: xinetd -- replacement for inetd with many enhancements

2007-07-23 Thread Thomas Seyrat
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I am looking for someone to adopt the xinetd package. I can't find time
to fix the open bugs, upstream is not really active anymore (no new
version since Oct. 2005), and I do not use the software as much as I
used to.

Please feel free to ping me (keep me Cc:-ed), then adopt the package. No
time for sponsoring, sorry.

Thomas Seyrat

The package description is:
xinetd has access control mechanisms, extensive logging capabilities,
the ability to make services available based on time, and can place
limits on the number of servers that can be started, among other things.
 .
It has the ability to redirect TCP streams to a remote host and port.
This is useful for those of that use ip masquerading, or NAT, and want
to be able to reach your internal hosts.
 .
It also has the ability to bind specific services to specific interfaces.
This is useful when you want to make services available for your internal
network, but not the rest of the world. Or to have a different service
running on the same port, but different interfaces.

I am sorry, but I cannot replicate this on my amd64 box. Only
differences that I found are different kernel versions (2.6.20-rc4 vs.
your 2.6.21) and I currently use a newer libc6 (2.6-2).

Could you please verify that this bug is still happening with the new
libc6?

Also please include information when it does happens (My guess would be
as soon as you start it).

Thanks,
   Alain

Bug#433951: libhttp-proxy-perl: save filter "filename" parameter used invalidly

2007-07-23 Thread Roland Stigge
Hi,

I'm attaching an additional (incremental) patch that fixes additional
use of the filename. It is only initialized there as a string without
being used as such. Therefore, this should be removed to not confuse the
other use of it (as a code reference).

Looks like this part of the code has never been tested before. ;)

(A colleague of mine discovered this, feel free to ask me if the issue
(and resolution) is still unclear.)

bye,
  Roland

Eclipse 3.3 will depend on (a newer version of) jetty. I will update
this package.

Bug#434359: Assumes /srv is root-writable

2007-07-23 Thread Trent W. Buck
Package: fai-server
Version: 3.1.8
Severity: normal

Prior to setting up fai-server on my server (which I care about), I
tried installing it on a workstation (which can burst into flames, for
all I care), in case fai-server did something silly. I found the
following:

Setting up fai-server (3.1.8) ...
mkdir: cannot create directory `/srv/tftp': Permission denied
dpkg: error processing fai-server (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Setting up rsh-server (0.17-13) ...

Setting up tftpd-hpa (0.43-1.1) ...
tftpd-hpa disabled in /etc/default/tftpd-hpa

Errors were encountered while processing:
 fai-server
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
A package failed to install. Trying to recover:
Setting up fai-server (3.1.8) ...
mkdir: cannot create directory `/srv/tftp': Permission denied
dpkg: error processing fai-server (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 fai-server
Press return to continue.

fai-server assumes /srv is writable, this is not the case on my
workstation where /srv is a root-squashed nfs mount. I'm not sure
which one of us is doing the Wrong Thing.

See http://bugs.debian.org/412820 for a similar bug under vsftpd.

 Hi,

Several months ago, you reported a bug to the Debian BTS regarding Xorg
and the i810 driver giving a black screen on your i945 board. Did you
reproduce this problem recently? With Xorg/Etch? With latest
xserver-xorg-core and drivers? If not, I will close this bug in the next
 weeks.

Hi Christian,

Does xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.1.0-2 (currently in testing) help?
