Bug#444105: no-ip: [debconf_rewrite] Debconf templates and debian/control review
Package: no-ip Version: N/A Severity: normal Tags: patch Dear Debian maintainer, On Saturday, September 08, 2007, I notified you of the beginning of a review process concerning debconf templates for no-ip. The debian-l10n-english contributors have now reviewed these templates, and the proposed changes are attached to this bug report. Please review the suggested changes are suggested, and if you have any objections, let me know in the next 3 days. Please try to avoid uploading no-ip with these changes right now. The second phase of this process will begin on Saturday, September 29, 2007, when I will coordinate updates to translations of debconf templates. The existing translators will be notified of the changes: they will receive an updated PO file for their language. Simultaneously, a general call for new translations will be sent to the debian-i18n mailing list. Both these calls for translations will request updates to be sent as individual bug reports. That will probably trigger a lot of bug reports against your package, but these should be easier to deal with. The call for translation updates and new translations will run until about Saturday, October 20, 2007. Please avoid uploading a package with fixed or changed debconf templates and/or translation updates in the meantime. Of course, other changes are safe. Please note that this is an approximative delay, which depends on my own availability to process this work and is influenced by the fact that I simultaneously work on many packages. Around DAY25, I will contact you again and will send a final patch summarizing all the updates (changes to debconf templates, updates to debconf translations and new debconf translations). Again, thanks for your attention and cooperation. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash --- no-ip.old/debian/templates 2007-09-08 08:54:32.445464795 +0200 +++ no-ip/debian/templates 2007-09-26 07:29:06.105768362 +0200 @@ -1,30 +1,35 @@ +# These templates have been reviewed by the debian-l10n-english +# team +# +# If modifications/additions/rewording are needed, please ask +# [EMAIL PROTECTED] for advice. +# +# Even minor modifications require translation updates and such +# changes should be coordinated with translators and reviewers. + Template: noip2/introduction Type: note -_Description: noip2 configuration data file - noip2 uses a configuration data file that is stored by default on Debian - systems as /etc/noip2.conf. Bug#444035: xkb-data: latam layout: no dead_tilde
Recently (as in etch's 0.9-4 vs lenny's 1.0~cvs.20070721-1), the Spanish layout has changed one of its asciitilde to dead_tilde. The chosen key was AE04, because that's the one that has the tilde printed on the key. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9763 In the Latinamerican case, the printed one is AD12, thus, I'm suggesting changing that one to dead_tilde. Similar as to what the original bug report showed, the ibm globalization site, cites this key as combining tilde: http://www-306.ibm.com/software/globalization/topics/keyboards/KBD171.jsp I'm not sure about AE04. It could be good to have it as dead too, for consistency (Spanish and Latin American are both common in many Spanish speaking countries), but having 2 out of 3 as dead might be overkill. Side question while reading this bug report: Would this make sense to change the es.kmap and la-latin1.kmap keymaps from console-data (which are used at the console, and during D-I) accordingly: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/src/debian/console-data/console-data-1.03/keymaps/i386/qwerty grep -i tilde es.kmap ! Bug#435126: dpkg-source please ignore vcs dirs for native packages too
On 9/22/07, Frank Lichtenheld [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On Thu, Aug 02, 2007 at 08:33:05PM +0200, Raphael Hertzog wrote: A good opportunity to change the default behaviour of dpkg-source would be the addition of wigpen build support, BTW ;) The problem with generating WP format is that you need to provide more information about how the package is constructed than is given to an invocation of dpkg-source -b which has only the .orig dir or .orig.tar.gz and the current dir. Given those basic input, the most sensible output is v1.0 format. So, while dpkg-source needs to be able to parse WP format, the task of creating it should fall to tools better suited to the job: think git-buildpackage and other such tools which should have knowledge of a discrete set of patches/changesets. Note that parse support in dpkg-source still allows for a package to be unpacked/edited/rebuilt (albeit in a lossy way) by a local admin, the security team or whoever using only dpkg-dev tools. dpkg-source -x pack.dsc # unpack v2.0 [edit] dpkg-buildpackage ... # create v1.0 --bod -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#444115: general: network interface (eth0) gets undetected after restrat checked using ifconfig -a
Package: general Severity: important When the cmos battery is removed and power unplugged and the system booted . I press f2(load defaults) in the cmos screen and the syetm boots very slowly and detects my lan card. i.e ifconfig -a lists eth0. But after this if I shut down the computer and start again or even restart it , the network card is not detected . when the network card goes undetected even if I boot into windows it remains undetected in windows also. To make the netowrk card appear again I need to rerun the procedure of removing the batters and unplugging power cable. It seems like when shutting down the system the OS is setting some flag or something like that in the bios which makes the network card go undetected. I have tried this in debian etch , lenny and sidux. The results are the same irrespective of the debian distribution. havent checked it with other distributions yet. Also about booting up , when I restart or shutdown and start the computer it boots prettu fast , but when I clear the bios and boot it takes nearly 3 - 5 minutes to boot. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22.3-rc1-slh-smp-2 (SMP w/2 CPU cores; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#444117: scim: Can't see Chinese characters clearly on 12-inch 1024x768
Package: scim Version: 1.4.7-1 Severity: normal SCIM is an outstanding piece of software, except for a little eye-strain I have a thinkpad X20 with a 12-inch 1024x768. When I use SCIM to enter simplified Chinese, I REALLY cannot see the characters in the tiny little character selector window (the one with the numbered list of characters) clearly. I also can see no way for me to change the font size in that window. For the record, I have another 14-inch 1024x768 thinkpad where visibility is better, but the characters are still smaller then I personally would like. Especially for us non-native Chinese users, it would be better to err on the side of a font that is too big then a font that is too small. Bug#424908: gcstar: Format may be incorrect loading error
Oleksandr Moskalenko schrieb am Donnerstag, den 17. I can import my collection from gcfilms, but after saving the new gcstar file I cannot open it anymore. I get a Cannot open items list. Format may be incorrect error; the main window greys out and I have to kill the program. On the next open only few records seem to be in the saved .gcs file, so it looks like it's hitting something it doesn't recognize during opening the file and truncates it on that record. Anyway, as far as I am concerned the package is unusable with this bug. Is this behaviour still existing in recent versions? I can't reproduce this bug here. Given those basic input, the most sensible output is v1.0 format. Up to now yes, but we could define debian/source (or new headers in debian/control) to contain that supplementary information. BTW, do you have pointers summing up everything what's already defined concerning WP ? So, while dpkg-source needs to be able to parse WP format, the task of creating it should fall to tools better suited to the job: think git-buildpackage and other such tools which should have knowledge of a discrete set of patches/changesets. I'm not sure I like this idea... I'd rather have those tools generate the debian/source file (or more generally interface with a dpkg API to define how the package should be built). Bug#443375: error found but not jet solved
reassing 443375 console-tools thanks Hi Christian, Thanks for issuing this bug report, and for all the additional debugging (you did my homework!). ;) Christian Gogolin wrote: I was able to track down the error to a single line of code used by the program chvt. Good, it is great to find the reason for such strange behaviour. The Problem is the call ioctl(fd,VT_ACTIVATE,num) that uses the VT interface to switch consoles. I would suggest to close this bug report, I am going to open a more specific one. You simply do not need to. The package base is a placeholder for all these bug reports that we don't know where they belong yet. Usually what we do is find the package that has this bug and then reassing it to it. I am very happy to do this for you now, there is no further action you need to take, except for working with the console-tools maintainer in fixing this bug :) Happy hacking! -- ·''`. Bug#443962: partman does not recognize existing partitions
Quoting Andreas Balser ([EMAIL PROTECTED]): Hmmm, have you tried hitting Enter to select the drive that's displayed? *That* should show you the partitions to display, IIRC. Not quite: He asks whether it is okay to generate a whole new partition table (but I can still undo that). If I agree, I see one more line underneath the drive saying that all 40GB are FREE SPACE Hmm, OK. That confirms that, as you suggested, partman (rather libparted) cannot read your partition table...and there really is a bug somewhere. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Package: menu-xdg Version: 0.2.3 Maintainer: Bill Allombert [EMAIL PROTECTED] Several *.directory files in /var/lib/menu-xdg/desktop-directories/menu-xdg have incorrect icon fields with spaces in the icon names, which makes it impossible to provide icons for them. debian-menu-icons, a package available from http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=40882 adds directory icons for the Debian Menu but it cannot provide icons for the following directories: debian-applications-data-management.directory: Icon=debian-applications-data management debian-applications-file-management.directory: Icon=debian-applications-file management debian-applications-mobile-devices.directory: Icon=debian-applications-mobile devices debian-applications-network-web-browsing.directory: Icon=debian-applications-network-web browsing debian-applications-network-web-news.directory: Icon=debian-applications-network-web news debian-applications-project-management.directory: Icon=debian-applications-project management debian-applications-terminal-emulators.directory: Icon=debian-applications-terminal emulators -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#442912: Ре: #442912 -- libmail-box-perl: autodetection of MH folders not working correctly
tags 442912 fixed-upstream thanks Hi, This problem is claimed to be fixed in the new upstream release 2.075. However, building now requires TAP::Harness, which is not in Debian, so the upload may take a some time. Help is welcome :) Changes: - Replace Test::Harness by TAP::Harness to run tests, which is cleaner and faster. Fixes: - recursively opening folders with manager involved, retriggers autodetect each time, sometimes coming up with an unexpected folder type. Bug#444142: joystick: Adding axis and button remapping capability to the included jscal tool
Package: joystick Version: 20051019-1 Severity: wishlist Tags: patch Motivation I found no simple tool that would remap the joystick axes and buttons on the device driver level (joydev module), while the driver clearly provides the interface for this. My patch extends to capabilities of jscal in order to remap axes and buttons. While remapping in the X configuration file is possible, that mapping does not seem to help in all games. Detail I bought a Trust GM-2550 Predator joystick the other day, and I noticed that the axes were mapped incorrectly: the throttle in place of the rudder, and the pinky button's axes were shifted up 1 slot in the axis map. I found no tool to re-map the axes on the device driver (joydev) level. While remapping is possible in the X config, this did not solve the problem for - for example - SearchAndRescue. Also I found no way to remap joystick buttons on the device driver level. This is quite necessary for example for tuxkart, because some of the buttons the game uses are unfortunately unreachable while holding the joystick comfortably (some buttons are too far on the stick). I found that the joydev kernel module does provide the API for axes and button remapping. I added two command line options to jscal and two corresponding functions that utilize the API and remap buttons and axes. I have tested the axes and button remapping, and it works as intended. I can swap buttons and axes as I wish. Implementation Please find the diff of jscal.c in joystick attached (joystick.diff). The modified jscal.c adds two command line arguments: -q --print-mappingsPrint the current axis and button mappings as a jscal command line and -u n_of_axes,axmap1,axmap2,..., n_of_buttons,btnmap1,btnmap2, ... --set-mappings Sets axis and button mappings to the specified values An example output of -q looks like this (./jscal -q /dev/input/js0): jscal -u 10,0,1,2,5,6,16,17,40,41,42,13,288,289,290,291,292,293,294,295,296,297,298,299,300 /dev/input/js0 The joystick has 10 axes and 13 buttons. If now one is to switch axes 2 and 5 (to get the rudder and the throttle right), one has to execute: jscal -u 10,0,1,5,2,6,16,17,40,41,42,13,288,289,290,291,292,293,294,295,296,297,298,299,300 /dev/input/js0 changing 2,5 to 5,2 on the line. Remapping buttons is done the same way. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-4-686 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Only in joystick-20051019: debian Only in /home/kajla/usr/src/joystick/: .svn diff -ur joystick-20051019/utils/jscal.c /home/kajla/usr/src/joystick/utils/jscal.c --- joystick-20051019/utils/jscal.c 2004-10-19 09:51:52.0 +0200 +++ /home/kajla/usr/src/joystick/utils/jscal.c 2007-09-26 12:56:33.0 +0200 @@ -61,6 +61,8 @@ int fd; struct js_corr corr[MAX_AXES]; +__u8 axmap[ABS_MAX + 1]; +__u16 buttonmap[(KEY_MAX - BTN_MISC + 1)]; char axes, buttons, fuzz; int version; struct correction_data corda[MAX_AXES]; @@ -163,6 +165,12 @@ puts( -V --version Prints the version numbers); puts( -p --print-correction Prints the current settings as a jscal); puts( command line); + puts( -q --print-mappingsPrint the current axis and button); + puts( mappings as a jscal command line); + puts( -u n_of_axes,axmap1,axmap2,...,); + puts( n_of_buttons,btnmap1,btnmap2,); + puts( ... --set-mappings Sets axis and button mappings to the); + puts(specified values); putchar('\n'); } @@ -316,6 +324,42 @@ (version 8) 0xff, version 0xff); } +void print_mappings(char *devicename) +{ + int i; + + if (ioctl(fd, JSIOCGAXES, axes)) { + perror(jscal: error getting axes); + exit(1); + } + if (ioctl(fd, JSIOCGBUTTONS, buttons)) { + perror(jscal: error getting buttons); + exit(1); + } + if (ioctl(fd, JSIOCGAXMAP, axmap)) { + perror(jscal: error getting axis map); + exit(1); + } + if (ioctl(fd, JSIOCGBTNMAP, buttonmap)) { + perror(jscal: error getting button map); + exit(1); + } + + printf(jscal -u %d, axes); + for (i = 0; i axes; i++) + { + printf( ,%d, axmap[i]); + } + + printf(,%d, buttons); + for (i = 0; i buttons; i++) + { + printf( ,%d, buttonmap[i]); + } + + printf( %s\n,devicename); +} + void print_settings(char *devicename) { int i,j; @@ -342,6 +386,107 @@ printf( %s\n,devicename); } +// n axes n buttons +// 10,0,1,2,5,6,16,17,40,41,42:13,288,289,290,291,292,293,294,295,296,297,298,299,300 +void set_mappings(char *p) +{ + int i; + int axes_on_cl = 0; + int
Bug#444143: XF86MiscGetMouseSettings fails in xpilot after upgrade to xorg 7.3
Package: libxxf86misc1 Version: 1:1.0.1-2 Severity: normal After upgrading to xorg 7.3, xpilot-ng-x11 dies as soon as I click the mouse with the following error: X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation) Major opcode of failed request: 137 (XFree86-Misc) Minor opcode of failed request: 3 (XF86MiscGetMouseSettings) Value in failed request: 0x260017b Serial number of failed request: 513231 Current serial number in output stream: 513231 This happened with two different implementations of xpilot, one in Debian and one not (but from a common ancestor, so it also uses XFree86-Misc to get mouse settings) and on two different systems that had been upgraded to xorg 7.3, one with the proprietary nvidia driver and the other with i810. Bug#444144: RFP: adanaxisgpl - FPS game in 4 spatial dimensions
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name : adanaxisgpl Version : 1.2.0 Upstream Author : Andy Southgate [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL : http://www.mushware.com/files/adanaxisgpl-1.2.0.tar.gz * License : GPL Description : Adanaxis is probably the first real time shooter in four spatial dimensions (so that's four not including time). Information and reviews can be found at: http://www.mushware.com/ (Developer site) http://www.linuxgamingworld.com/2007/07/adanaxis http://happypenguin.org/show?Adanaxis This is the GPL version of the full commercial game. It's stripped of material that can't be GPL'd, but it's not a demo - it does contain all of the levels and has no artificial limitations. Much of the packaging work is already done. You can unpack the tarball and type ./configure ; make debian-release (or use dpkg-buildpackage directly) and, with a bit of luck, get a .deb at the end. The code is 64-bit and big/littleendian clean. The binary .debs built for the commercial release are already available at mushware.com/x11 if you'd like to take a look. I am the upstream developer and available to support the packager, modify the upstream, etc. You will need sound and hardware-accelerated 3D to meaningfully test the build, and it does take about 15 minutes to compile on a modern single core. Language is C++ and ruby. Andy Southgate [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Because that patch changes the same code than the patch: ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/security_patches/post-3.5.7-kdegraphics-CVE-2007-3387.diff applied to fix CVE-2007-3387 This patch is not the same. Look at the difference, your patch just changes the values in between the if statement. But the other patch changes also the place of the statement. I think the diff format used is a bit confusing, look at: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/poppler/poppler/diff/?id=c240daefe660ac3456dc0c5f5dc82aa53ebc3313id2=1ba884b6b98ac8d755c9adc9f23a7a68d8b17b54 However I wonder that the changelog just mentions CVE-2007-3387 because mitre says they are not the same. I wrote them a mail about the exact difference. Anyway, the patch from freedesktop.org is correct. Bug#138752: please at least document this limitation
I just spent a little while understanding why help2man -h '-h' foo was returning help2man: can't get `-h' info from foo In order to save the next person the trouble, I have a suggestion. If you plan to not handle output on stderr, could you please document this in the man page (and the help output)? Also, it might be nice if a more suggestive error message was printed when stdin is empty but status is OK. Something along the lines of Oh, your program probably prints its help message to stderr. help2man does not support this. Bug#444147: Generated images are *much* larger
Package: graphviz Version: 2.12-4 Severity: grave It appears that the newest graphviz in unstable creates some much cleared images (antialiazed etc.) by the use of pango. Unfortunately, this means that the generated images are *much* larger. This may be not a very serious problem by itself but doxygen uses graphviz and many packages in Debian generate their -doc packages using doxygen. asterisk-doc images were 13MB and with the newer graphviz this figure gets to 112M (10 times more!). The package size gets from 28MB to 122MB. I can't imagine what would happen on bigger software suites. This will affect seriously all Debian mirrors! I'm not sure what the proper solution -if any- would be and if this bug would need to be reassigned to doxygen, but I'm filing this here since the graphviz maintainer would know the situation better. The severity may seem a bit inflated since there is no actual defect; however, there is a need for a workaround or fix ASAP before this seriously hits all mirrors.
